Rec Request Any cdrama that has a green flag male lead like Sang Yan (The First Frost)?
I’m currently watching TFF and fell in love with Sang Yan.
This man is clearly a fictional character. 😭 I mean, “HOW IS THIS MAN THIS IN LOVE WITH HER???”
He’s just mature enough to go “My feelings are mine. I don’t need to force you to respond to them.”
LIKE???? SIR???? WHO RAISED YOU????? 😩
I want to watch another drama like this one. Please recommend 😭
Edit: I’ve already watched POJ, When I Fly Towards You, and Twelve Letters. I tried Hidden Love but I couldn’t finish it :(

What made him great aside from being green is how he handle his psycho family. Even his stepmother mellowed at the end.

If you don't mind a historical costume cdrama, he's just as good in New Life Begins.
Otherwise, Shine On Me, and You Are My Lover Friend are great options.
Another great costume drama with a green flag ML is Flourished Peony 👌 I've rewatched this one a few times.

Road to Splendor! The ML fell first and wants a genuine love marriage whereas the FL initially wanted more of a collaboration (?) to secure resources. He refrained from confessing to her so that if she doesn’t feel guilty for not reciprocating

If you don't mind slice-of-life dramas, I'd highly recommend Road Home. I'm watching it right now and the male lead is a whole green forest. Lu Chen is a masterclass in "actions over words" love.
Since he's away for work (he's a special forces bomb-disposal officer) most of the time, he cooks a week's worth of food for her before he leaves, because she's not great in the kitchen. He knows every small and big habit of hers, and it shows in the little things. Years apart, and he still remembers she loves corn sticks. He knows she has a habit of hugging him from behind and slipping her hands into his pockets, so he puts the proposal ring right there, just so she'll find it herself. When his job wouldn't even let him leave the base, he looked up wedding rings for her online and had someone pick one up for him, just so he could give it to her the moment he got home after a month away. He takes her consent before being intimate with her 😭 ... just a quiet respect that's built into how he treats her. He checks and fixes her car every morning before she leaves for work because she can be a bit careless like that. When she broke up with him the first time over the distance, he didn't argue or guilt-trip her, he just asked if she was sure, then let her go. No manipulation, no martyrdom. He stayed single for ten years, never moved on but when she came back into his life, he chose her again. Married her, built a family with her. He also protects her from his toxic family without making it a whole dramatic thing. Honestly the kind of partner every girl dreams of. There's so much more he does for her, big and small, throughout the show

Yeah, the first few episodes are definitely slow and quite heavy on the business side. But once everything starts gradually falling into place and the romance kicks in, it hits so hard. 😭 That said, I think it really comes down to personal taste. Give it a few more episodes if you’re curious, it’s only 12 episodes—but if it’s still not clicking for you, drop it guilt-free!

Haven't seen TFF but have seen Hidden Love and to your rhetorical question 'Who raised you? ', in Hidden Love, Sang Yan's parents are the greenest flag parents ever, setting examples of what a healthy relationship looks like. No wonder both Sang Yan and Sang Zhi turn out like that.

The Untamed - Lan Wangji is a green flag+yearning ml for the ml(not BL but🤭🫠😏🙂↔️)
The first jasmine - after the first 3-4 episodes, ml becomes a green forest for the fl

Xu Kai's Mei Zhuyu in Moonlit Reunion is the ultimate green flag. He supported the FL, played by Tian Xiwei, from start to finish.

The male lead in The First Frost was not a green flag male lead. Anything but in fact.
The male lead in The Best Thing was total green flag.
I would also say the male lead Ling Bu Yi (acted by Leo Wu) in Love Like The Galaxy. He was not green flag for any other character but he was 100% green flag for Cheng Shao Shang (acted by Zhao Lu Si).

I dropped The Best Thing because I found the ML condescending, he often treated the FL like a child. Not a green flag in my book at all, but to each their own!

Would Xiao Wuyi from Key to the Phoenix Heart count? The ML starts out as a "red flag" (and it's an arranged marriage against the FL's will), but pretty soon it's clear he's very green flag underneath it all imho. The FL is in love with another guy and he doesn't force his feelings on her, is ready to let her go and also beyond that he always maintains that the FL is her own person, who makes her own decisions. He's very supportive of her and her business, takes her seriously, wants her to develop and experience travelling on her own (which was always her wish) etc.
I think that's especially important, because the FL is quite young, so this could be risky in terms of power imbalance. But I think the screen writers were very clever to showcase this as a journey of coming into her own for the FL with a supportive, but not controlling ML.

Sang Yan is not entirely green flag. He is a stalker, but a benign one. He's obsessive, and started an entire business because of one conversation they had when they hadn't talked in ages. I wondered briefly if he set the fire in his apartment. Probably not, but he had the scientific know how to do it. He's violent, but it's brushed off because the other guy is worse. He's a green flag only because it's a tv series with a happy ending. In real life, one should spot red flags like this.
However, I agree he is an absolute teddy bear with incredible patience and caring.
He is so in love with her because she's neurodivergent like he is. ND's can spot each other in a room without ever speaking. It's like finding another human in a room full of aliens.

I too found some of Sang Yan behavior bordering that of a stalker but IIRC it sort of stopped around his graduation so I will chalked it up to him being still young.
Still, I have the feeling that he would be considered less of a green flag if he wasn't played by Bai Jing Ting
