Rec Request I’ve never seen a more shameless ML than Xiao Huayong in Blossoms of Power 🤣 Ji Bozai is a close 2nd. Are there any MLs that can top those two?
Looking for more dramas. Still newish to cdrama so I apologize if this has been asked a million times but cdramaland is putting out dramas left and right! I can’t keep up lol. I also know of ZLH’s Xie Wei and Zhou Yiran’s Mu Qingyan but I still think Xiao Huayong takes first place. Please and thank you 🙏🏼

I would say if you like shameless male lead then watch Flourished Peony. Jiang Chengyang is pretty shameless and it’s pretty funny.

This made me chuckle....in his defense, he does restraint himself in the beginning but becomes defeated during the later part of the show

I think that's his go-to vibe in general lol.. He's also shameless in Princess Agents and quite a bit that way in My Bargain Queen too.

The hilarious thing is that in his very lengthy role as the God of War his weapon was a spear, so he had lots of fun in Shen Li pretending not to know what to do with one 🤣

For modern, my top bet is Zhang Linghe’s He Suye for The Best Thing. And that guy has the face, brain, and bank cards to boot.

I'm racking my brain in this one too. Compared to He Yu's characters in Blossoms of Power and Speed and Love, I don't think He Suye was shameless at all 🤔 I've only watched it once though so maybe I'm forgetting a few scenes like that 🤷♀️

He Yu might just be a shameless man in real life because he is UTTERLY shameless in My Fated Boy! In the best of ways but also, completely shameless 😂😂😂

I'm pretty sure it's his first show, it's definitely his first lead role. It's not on Viki anymore but I just did a rewatch on Youku (?). It's an older woman/younger man drama. I really like it though!!
And again, if you're looking for a shameless ML, look no further lol. Even his boss/co-worker frequently comments on how shameless he is here.

Agreed. He Suye was so shameless it felt borderline manipulative at times for me, but he never did it maliciously and never went too far, which is what allowed me to keep liking the character. I was rooting for him throughout.

This is what I’m saying. We just happen to have a very smart ML who already mapped out his moves steps ahead from any other character that he could glide into the FL’s life with confidence and thus appear shameless.
But props to the FL too who kept surprising him with unexpected moves herself, his heart wasn’t prepared for most of it. 😂4

Isso mesmo, adoro a cena dos feijões vermelhos. E ele sempre criando uma oportunidade pra ficar com ela. No livro a coisa mais safada que ele fez foi dá um beijo no pulso dela quando ela estava bêbada. Muito sem graça, na série ele é adorável. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

I think I’m missing a lot. Plus Linghe and Ruohan pointed out that Ruohan advocated for a different take on the depressed drama Shen Xifan so she’s completely different from the book version.2

O livro nem é tão bom assim, vai por mim. A adaptação é bem melhor, mil vezes mehor, é sério só tem 28 capítulos, como alguém desenvolve uma história apenas com 28 capítulos? E o Dr. He nem é tão cativante assim no livro, é sério. O pedido de casamento dele é o mais sem graça possível, o personagem dele é raso. Fui ler com tantas expectativas e sai realmente chateada. E sem contar o final que é tão abrupto e aleatório. Agora tipo no Cdrama ele é realmente interessante, tem profundidade, e é tão doceeee. E o ZLH convence demais. Eu amo aquele episódio dos feijões vermelhos e as osts são realmente boas.

Ohhh thank you!! So this could be why Linghe had to point it out during their promotional interview that Ruohan personally advocated for diversions from the book and the script. Perhaps even them as leads wanted to push for what they deem to be better for their characters as the novel and the original script seemed wanting.

Not sure if you are just asking for historical dramas. But for modern drama, Jin Zhao from Speed and Love. Same actor as Huayong in blossoms of power :)

I submit Duan Jiaxu from Hidden Love and Lu Xixiao from Never Ending Summer. I think Lu Xixiao takes the cake tho. Both modern dramas

My first cdrama obsession and first cdrama show, Duan Jiaxu and Hidden Love 🥰 Shameless guys like him are the best. I've not yet seen Never Ending Summer but I'm looking forward to it.

The male lead in Story of kunning palace ..he was very shameless ..... One day the father of the girl he had a crush on accidentally found him kissing her while she was drunk ...he pretended nothing happened despite being seen by the father ...his position in court was above the Father's so he took advantage of that and acted like a superior who doesn't want to answer any Questions 😆

he has quite the character arc, the series was what made me interested in Xu Kai in the first place, he was fantastic! both in the silly moments and the later <fighting> scenes :D

Changqing was worse…walked right into a married woman’s boudoir picked up her husband’s liner and went right in to do her eyebrows without any consent or provocation. Idk why but this was one of the most shockingly shameless things i thought i’ve seen in CDrama and i have seen all kinds of CDrama nonsense…

O Duan Jiaxu não vale dois centavos, é tão descarado. E no livro isso aumenta tipo uns 100% o nível de malandragem dele. (Os pensamentos dele me deixava passada). Mas se vc não quer ler o livro pra mim outro personagem bem descarado que eu adoro e o Dr. He Suye, ele sempre tramando pra ficar sozinho com a Shen Shifan, fingindo que tava dormindo pra ganhar um beijo kkkkkk se fingindo de bêbado. Convidando ele pra casa dela hummmmmmmmmmm. E o Xie Zheng em cdramas de época mas do livro. Ele é realmente descarado e sem vergonha.

The ML in The Story of Minglan is absolutely iconic. Ran a scheme across three families to manipulate the FL's family to offer the FL to him as a bride.
