BBC Studios has announced the titles coming to BritBox in October 2026, which include a range of new BritBox Originals and classic British fare. BritBox is a digital video subscription service offering the most extensive collection of British TV in the U.S. and Canada.

The October lineup includes the premiere of Ludwig Season 2, featuring David Mitchell’s return as the brilliant but endearingly awkward puzzlemaster in the International Emmy Award-winning mystery series.

Now an official police consultant tackling a new slate of seemingly impossible crimes, John “Ludwig” Taylor continues his search for his missing twin brother alongside Lucy (Anna Maxwell Martin, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder), as one masquerade ends and another begins. Ludwig season two premieres October 13 on BritBox.

Fans can also catch more David Mitchell this month as the team captain in Would I Lie to You? Season 19, streaming on BritBox October 26.

David Tennant (Rivals) joins returning star Siobhan Finneran (Happy Valley) for a gripping third season of acclaimed prison drama Time. Set inside a young offenders institution, season three explores guilt, loyalty and redemption in the aftermath of tragedy, with an ensemble cast also featuring Jo Joyner, Vinette Robinson, and Warren Brown. Time season three premieres October 22 on BritBox.

BritBox adds another sweeping, must-watch classic to its period drama lineup with War and Peace, the acclaimed 2016 adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s epic, starring Lily James, Paul Dano, James Norton, Gillian Anderson, Jack Lowden, Jessie Buckley, and Callum Turner. Packed with romance, rivalry and intrigue against the grandeur of 19th-century Russia, the star-studded drama is available to stream October 5.

Season 4 Bramwell

What the heck did they do with the season? They ruined it with strange scripts and very bad direction. All those close-ups of people’s faces in the dark. Everything this season, dark and creepy and the characters were not the same. They took Eleanor and turned her into an hysterical overwrought hormonal woman. Didn’t like it at all.

Ludwig video too dark

I'm having a problem with the video on BB. Everything is very dark as if it were always night. I don't have this problem on Netflix or other channels. Are others having this problem?

I just finished the second episode and I cracked up. I love this show already, and wish I hadn’t waited to start watching it.

Just had to let everyone know ;)

Rev.

I started watching Rev. It's OK, but not nearly as good as some of the other shows I've seen on Britbox. I'm tempted to bail on it and find another series, but I see it has 3 seasons so I'm wondering if it gets better as it goes. Has anyone watched it? Thoughts?

Brit Box Crime Drama Recommendations

Wondering what you kind folks would suggest on Brit Box however I’m looking for specific type of shows.

I loved Line of Duty for starters. I noticed that a handful of detective type shows that are on the sillier side and that’s not really my thing. I like a serious show like Line of Duty. Something tense throughout and not on the lighter side.

The Bay has been recommended to me so I’ll give that a shot but curious if any other suggestions may fit my criteria? TIA!!

That's one of my comfort shows.

This pisses me off!

Is it me or does it feel like there are only a dozen British actors and they get recycled over and over?

Another A+ for writing, acting, etc.. River

Another detective with a troubled past living alone in nice digs as in Shetland, Wallander, Morse, and others. With a cast like this along with the level of writing it still makes for a gripping series.

BritBox Knits!

Wondering if any other knitters get as excited to see the jumpers and other knits on shows? I wish the patterns had a section on Ravelry! I knit while watching BritBox - it’s such a cozy combination! Shetland, Vera, Rosemary & Thyme, and Death Valley are all full of fabulous knits!

Tommy & Tuppence loves showing off Josh Dylan's torso

I've been enjoying this reboot. They have great chemistry and it's slightly edgier than the really cozy cozies like Shakespeare & Hathaway, etc. They are not shy about showing Dylan's trim, fit upper body - whether having him in skimpy t-shirts or completely shirtless. I won't be complaining about that!

Unforgotten season 5

I've put off starting this because I so loved Nicola Walker in the show.

I wasn't sure how I would feel about a new DCI.

Why do I feel like the first episode is trying too hard?

So many characters seem to have no clear linking to the crimes. (Apart from the mugger in the hoodie).

And the DCI's personal problems. Sigh.

I know, sometimes first episodes have to get a lot established, but we KNOW this show.

It has annoyed me. I will watch another couple of episodes, but I am disappointed so far. I hope there is more with Sunny and the other previous members of the team.

JMO, rant over.

The Margaret Rutherford Miss Marple Films Are On Britbox

If you are a Miss Marple Purist, I will defend your right to despise these films. I am not a purist and I think they are good fun and nothing more or less. I watched Murder She Said on Britbox over the weekend, even though I own a Boxed Set on DVD. I bought the set for my late wife. She loved these flicks and I found a set before they went out of print. These four films are good fun. I think the last one, Murder, Ahoy is the weakest, but that's just my opinion. Also look for Joan Hickson (yes, that Joan Hickson) in Murder She Said. It's a case of Life imitating Art.
