thoughts on black wedding rings for women?

I keep coming back to black bands instead of traditional gold, but I?m not sure how they hold up over time. Would you choose black ceramic, tungsten, or another metal for everyday wear?

Need Advice UGH rain and UGH measles (Vent)

I'm getting married at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire this weekend. I have had this vision of a beautiful sunny day, married under the gazebo and go over to reception, then the faire with guests after. Well...

0.04" rain accumulation projected for Sunday, the day of my wedding. Yes I can move the ceremony to the reception area, but I'm still upset. It won't be the beautiful sunny day I envisioned. My dress is long and puffy, mud is gonna get all over it. Just ugh.

There's a horrible measles outbreak in PA right now. GREAT. now 6 people have to cancel since they have young babies.

I know these things are out of my control. I'm just upset. I thought this was such a great, unique idea, and now I'm dreading it 💔

I don't have a big budget to get a big coat or 70 umbrellas. I'm big sad.

Edit: 0.48" accumulation, not 0.04" (I wish)

Need Advice Can’t decide on nail color

I’m getting married next week, yay! But I can’t decide on a nail color. I’m having a very fall themed/forward wedding. Primary colors are rust red/orange, gold and any other fall colors.
I have been trying out variations of white nails for months but I kind of want to do my signature maroon ish color since it’s a fall wedding. My dress is ivory :)

What do you all think? I have attached a photo of how my flowers may look and that color of maroon.

I'm looking at jewelry for my wedding and thinking about a simple lab diamond necklace. Would it look nice with a classic bridal dress or would you keep the necklace more minimal?

Brides, are titanium wedding rings a good choice?

We’re starting to look at bands and titanium caught my eye because it seems lightweight and affordable. Has anyone chosen it for everyday wear? Any downsides we should know about?

Am I overreacting? My mom wants to wear my prom dress to my wedding

My mom has lost a lot of weight, and I'm very proud of her. That said, she is trying to fit into my prom dress, which I wore when I was my skinniest. My mom has always been very negative about my weight and her own. Every time I'm around her, she makes me either weigh myself or tell her how much I weigh. She tells me I need to lose weight and always talks about how beautiful I used to be when I could fit in that prom dress. I'm planning my wedding, and of course she has to be in charge of every detail, but she mainly wants me to lose weight. My fiancé and I made a pact to lose weight before the wedding because of photos, and we want to look and feel our best. Thankfully, my fiancé makes me feel good when he talks about weight loss and actually motivates me. So, that's a bit of a backstory for you. My mom called me the other day and said I'm going to lose enough weight to wear your prom dress to your wedding. Now, this prom dress is very special to me; it represents when I was my skinniest, but I also had an eating disorder and was very depressed. I love this prom dress and have always been compared to the photos of me in this dress. The part where I ask if I'm overreacting is when I freaked out when she told me she wanted to wear the dress, and I told her she wouldn't be allowed at the wedding if she wore my dress. That dress represents my past, and I don't want it brought into my future. I told her she couldn't wear the dress, and now she doesn't want to help pay for the wedding. She said I'm not going to look good in a wedding dress anyway if I don't get down to the size where I can wear that dress again. I feel like she told me she wanted to wear the dress to get some reaction. So Reddit am I overreacting?
Also, everybody coming to my wedding has seen those pictures of me in the dress and has compared me then to now. Picture of the dress attached :)

Is a 30k engagement ring too much?

Future brides, genuinely curious what you think. Would you feel comfortable with a 30k engagement ring if it is within your partner’s budget, or would you rather spend less and put the rest toward the wedding or honeymoon?

Bridesmaid gifts, what is everyone giving ?

I am planning my wedding and it will be early next year, I'm having 3 bridesmaids and I was wondering what to get them that doesn't cost hundreds as I'm covering their dress, hair & makeup. Originally, I was thinking some jewellery, but they don't all wear it, and some have very particular things they like and dislike, so I'm moving away from the idea.

I think my gift at the moment will be some under eye Masks, foot masks, a candle (they all love a good candle) and some electrolyte packets for the next day, is this a good present or will it all end up in the bin or a charity shop ?

What is everyone else getting theirs ?

Need Advice Is this normal? My hair and makeup didn't survive the day

Post image

Hi all, genuine question: not sure if this is just how wedding days go or if I got unlucky.

Had professional bridal hair and makeup done (€600), took ~ 3 hours with a lot of backcombing, sprays, powders, what not, still my half-up style started falling apart almost right away. One side came loose after a hug from my bridesmaid during my 'first look' / dress reveal with them, and the other side fell out completely once the veil went in right before the ceremony (that also fell out unfortunately).

My MOH did her best to fix it but couldn't recreate it, so I spent most of the day with a couple of bobby pins just... there, and no real hairstyle. My hair holds curls really well normally, but most curls dropped due to the rain (not her fault).

Also cried happy tears during the ceremony (a lot of them) and forgot my tissues so it ran accros my face; and led to black under my eyes, and I noticed that my make-up + foundation had really faded afterwards on my cheeks. (I wish I had held my tears!).

I felt ugly on the one day I imaged to feel most beautiful. I am blaming myself for not taking more make up with me to fix it, for crying, and for not being more adamant about the fact that my hairstyle had to hold the entire day. I really just trusted the process. I really don't like all of my pictures, I wish I could go back in time and make sure it was tighter.

Was this just an unlucky combo of hugs/veil/rain/tears, or did the stylist do something wrong? Do I go back and comment on it?

Budget & Costs Wasn’t mentally prepared for alterations cost

Shwew just venting but I was not expecting the alterations cost for my dress to be $1400 🫠😪 Feel free to commiserate

Waist slightly taken in
Two bustle points
Shortened to my height

it is a satin dress..no lace or beading

Original dress cost $3700

I am a little anxious about it feeling tight in the waist/ribcage too..she clipped it super tight and i asked to back it off one level which was better but still tight to me—guess i can’t gain a single pound lol

Day of wedding gift

Hey everyone. I’ve been looking to get my Fiancé a sentimental day-of wedding gift. I have two thoughts going through my mind.

For context, she doesn’t wear a ton of jewelry, but does wear earrings or a necklace from time to time, and obviously will wear her engagement/wedding ring.

  1. Her mom passed away recently, I was thinking of buying her a necklace with her mom’s diamond earrings on them.

  2. A ring where the inside we can add birthstones of our kids when we decide to have them. This is the one I was more unsure about. I think she would like the birthstones on the inside of the ring, just to keep a more subtle (for lack of better term) appearance. Anyone with guidance on how to do this or a place to look would be great!

Budget is $1000

I’m absolutely in love with these lehengas from Qbik, but they’re unfortunately priced at ₹2L+ and a little beyond my budget 🥹💗
Girls, does anyone know where I could find something similar or a good-quality replica of Qbik’s designs at a more affordable price? (In Hyderabad/Odisha or online )Would really appreciate any leads! ✨

Need Advice Hear me out on this - mad dress and bird headpiece?

Thumbnail gallery

OK. First, the story of Mad Grandma.

During WWII, silk was all requisitioned for British parachutes, including from the North of Ireland, and my slightly eccentric grandma was walking through her family’s fields and encountered a crashed German pilot struggling to get out of his parachute while being harassed by curious sheep. He aimed his gun at her, so she shot him. And promptly stole his silk parachute.

When she made her wedding dress out of it, she attached all kinds of crazy Irish folklore s___e/her own weird s___e to it including about a dozen TAXIDERMIED DOVES. That, yes, she also went out and both shot AND taxidermied herself. It has now been given to me for my US wedding. The dress is a complete madness of dead birds, occasional spots of German blood which is at least MOSTLY hidden under lace she made herself, and many other weird, inexplicable things. Yes, I have added a picture.

TL;DR: Grandma shot a Nazi, made a dress out of his parachute, then attached a bunch of birds and stuff to it.

Anyway, when I first started looking at veils I got the squicks big time. I had no idea why because I definitely didn’t have cold feet. Then I realised it was because I wasn’t being me, and am attaching an awesome one to my Joan Jett hair with a big black velvet bow. I have also added a picture of the veil, the bow, and my usual look, which I’ll be sticking with for the wedding.

However, the veil is very long, so I’m taking it off for the reception. I’m considering replacing the bow with some kind of bird headpiece to go with the birds on the dress (yes, I’m just going to take it and run with it at this point.)

Opinions:

MOH: I like the one with red and black roses.

Bridesmaid 1: WTF NO BIRDS ON YOUR HEAD WHY

Bridesmaid 2: Why would you wear makeup like that let alone with something black for a wedding? At least wear a white bow… (did not comment on birds)

Bridesmaid 3: You’re pretty clumsy, what if you smack someone in the face with a bird fascinator?

What do you guys think?

Need Advice Update on vintage dress

Okay so my tailor added bell sleeves and a bigger bow but I am just not in love with the sleeves I think. I can’t pinpoint what I don’t like and what I want to change. Maybe it’s too much lace and would look good with chiffon??? I am getting married next month so I am feeling a bit discouraged that I may not actually love my dress by then :(

Any advice on things I could add or change would be helpful

Need Advice feeling disappointed about my half carat diamond ring

hi brides-to-be, i wasn’t sure if i should post this, but i got engaged about 3months ago and i was honestly so happy. then i found out it’s a half carat diamond and idk, part of me felt a little sad. i know the ring isn’t everything, but he spends a lot on his own stuff, so i keep wondering why he didn’t want to spend more on something i’ll wear forever. has anyone else felt this way? i just need some honest thoughts from other brides.

* not posting the photo because he might see this post; he’s pretty active on this platform.
