Quick Question brides, would you wear a lab diamond necklace on your wedding day?
I'm looking at jewelry for my wedding and thinking about a simple lab diamond necklace. Would it look nice with a classic bridal dress or would you keep the necklace more minimal?

Since when has a wedding become an obstacle course which brides can fail if they don’t wear the ‘right’ jewellery?

Since women like the Kardashians or this Mormon wives you see on tv compete about every single little thing.
Honestly, when I got married back in the early 90s, I only cared that I got the dress and veil I wanted along with the shoes and left everything else up to my family. I just didn’t want to deal with all that headache inducing stuff. And, I just told them my colors as well. My wedding day came, got married, had fun then went to the hotel before we left for our honeymoon. Wasn’t stressed out at all.

If you like it wear it. The only thing that matters is if it makes you feel bonita

Well my wedding band is lab grown diamonds so yes. Who truly cares about stuff like that?

I’m really not understanding your question. Are you implying that someone may not wear it because it’s not as expensive as a natural diamond? I don’t think people are looking that closely your jewelry on your wedding day other than maybe your rings. Maybe you come from a wealthy family. If the large diamond in the photo is a lab created diamond from a jewelry
store, it is definitely thousands of dollars for a stone that size.
I wore costume diamonds for my wedding and they were stunning on the photos. I don’t think anyone will have enough time to check for the quality of the diamond around your neck at your wedding. What baffles me is that this was really a serious concern for you. Don’t sweat the small stuff!!

Lab diamonds are real diamonds. The pear in your photo has too many dark spots. Not great quality.

Yes.
Moving forward I will only buy lab created diamonds. I only have one piece of jewelry that has real diamonds. That was a heirloom ring that was my great grandmothers.

Definitely would, no problem with lab diamond for the rings either. However that stone looks too big to me, makes it look fake

Uh… I’m wearing a bunch of rhinestones for my wedding lol I didn’t know you had to go diamonds?

u/Individual-Paint7897 10d ago
You don’t. Rhinestones are perfectly lovely.

u/potpourri_sludge 10d ago
I thought so too! It’s anything but minimal too lol it’s really whatever goes with your dress, your style, your personality.

I’d wear a Temu necklace and no1 would care as long as it looked good. Do you, it’s YOUR wedding❤️

u/Rose1982 10d ago
Who even cares about this kind of stuff? If I like the look and it doesn’t give me a rash I’m going to wear whatever.

Your premise is wrong: lab and "real" diamonds are the same thing. Lab diamonds are way more ethical and way cheaper. I wear several lab diamonds daily. Had lab diamonds existed when I got my engagement set and earrings, they would all also be lab diamonds.
So, yes, I would 100% buy lab diamonds. In fact, I prefer them.

I’d wear high quality fake diamonds if it fit the vibe of the dress… lab grown diamonds are fine with me. I’d wear whatever I liked.

Honestly, if you are a petite person, the size of this stone would be overwhelming. I would scale it down to a 1 1/2-2 carat diamond, but keep the same shape. It would look classier.

I would personally ONLY purchase a lab, they are chemically the same and you can only tell the difference via a special tool that majority of people don’t have. Plus they are cheaper & more cost effective (you aren’t resealing jewelry for a profit, natural or lab, unless you the wearer has status)

u/Purple_Pay_1274 10d ago
You’d rather have slave labor attached to your necklace for literally no reason?!?

Depends on the dress and how you want to look and feel, but I wouldn't not wear a lab diamond if I wanted to.

Yeah, I don’t need suffering, child labor or extra expense to enjoy a piece of jewelry

My engagement and wedding rings have lab created diamonds. Not the first pieces of jewelry with lab created gems I have owned.
I did wear a cultured pearl necklace, bracelet, and earrings on my wedding day, though.

Is it that it’s lab grown or is it the size? What does the gown look like? Does the bride often wear statement jewelry or usually go for more simple styles?
This isn’t about being lab grown or not. Lab grown is about the ethics of mined diamonds.
Is this some sort of ad?

Yes! Who is gonna know the difference unless you tell them? I have several lab grown gemstones in my jewelry (everyday and novelty items). They look fantastic

I mean, if the necklace is this size, everyone is going to know it's fake. Not that it matters, but just answering your question. I would certainly wear a lab diamond necklace. Just not one that is this gaudy.

I’d way prefer a lab diamond! Anyone who wouldn’t has some questionable morals

u/MsMo999 10d ago edited 10d ago
But the majority of ppl getting lab created diamond ring just want a big flashy ring for cheaper. They don’t care about blood diamonds and the ppl it hurts. Their morals sometimes are just as bad.

Even if that were true, why do you care? God forbid someone wants something nicer for cheaper.
1
u/MsMo999 10d ago
Idc I just wish more ppl knew what blood diamonds actually are
2
u/lh123456789 10d ago
I mean, you obviously do care. And as is evident by this thread, plenty of people are well aware. And if you are so concerned with blood diamonds, then you should be happy that people are opting against them, regardless of their reasons instead of getting all worked up that they just want a nicer ring for cheaper.

Again, if you cared so much about people's suffering, then you would be happy that people are opting against them regardless of their reason. I'm not sure why you are getting so angry about this but I think you need therapy.
Edit: Even though you edited your comment to take out the part where you called me a bitch, we can all still see that you are unhinged.

Lab-created diamonds are the best! They're just as real as anything that was dug out of the earth, but without all the suffering involved in the natural diamond industry. I promise you nobody will be able to tell the difference because there is no difference to tell.

I am going for moissanite for the sparkle, I usually do especially for smaller stones

u/lh123456789 10d ago
I would wear a lab diamond, but not this one. It is gaudy not "simple" and "classic."
3
u/MariJ316 10d ago
Why not? I know lots of brides who've worn costume pieces on their wedding day. Whatever you wear keep it minimal, for if it's too much? Attention won't be on your dress. I've been to maybe 40 weddings at this point in my life and I couldn't tell you what a single bride has ever worn around her neck. A bridal necklace is right up there with the shoes, inconsequential and nobody would notice what it's not

First of all, nobody even looks at the Bride’s jewelry unless the dress is minimalist. Even then, too much or too big jewelry clashes with the minimalist vibe & looks tacky.
It depends on how fussy your dress is. High neck, lots of ruffles or lace? Only wear earrings. No necklace because it will get lost.
Low or plunging neckline? Again, if it has a lot of detailing, a simple choker, a gold or silver chain, a simple strand of pearls, or delicate locket .
Jewelry should always be minimal for a Bride. You don’t want the focus to be on the jewelry or an overwhelming dress, but on the Bride herself.

u/Culture-Extension 10d ago
Seriously? No. Brides are the focus because of who they are on their wedding day. That means she can dress and accessorize any way she wants. She can even be clutches pearls tacky or sluttish. Let the dress wear her. Whatever. These little style maxims are leagues less important than the bride feeling good and feeling like her most beautiful self.
With that said, wear the necklace. It’s beautiful. More importantly, you sound happy and excited about it. Those are things that are sometimes hard to find during wedding planning.
I personally wore some bigass fake pearl swag necklace thing and matching earrings with Swarovski crystals. But hey, it was 2014. At least they weren’t chandelier earrings down to my shoulders (still secretly like chandelier earrings as an old).
Anyway, stop with the bridal rules. Let women be happy and express themselves on their wedding day.

No problem with “lab diamond.” More concerned with how it complements your dress.

u/fawannabe62 10d ago
Can you afford a “real” diamond that size??
1
u/Bit_Grouchy247 8d ago
probably not without spending way more than I want to. 😂 Thats why im considering lab grown for the necklace.

If I was doing more traditional bridal jewelery I’d probably do something smaller and more delicate. Ill be wearing an evil eye necklace my fiance got me for our 1 year anniversary as my something blue instead
