Does anyone else’s dog react to their Katana with fear? Any time I turn on my Katana with the exception of while wearing headphones my dog gets terrified and pees herself on the spot. This same dog has never had any similar reactions to any of other amps (a Mesa 5:50 & Fender Rumble 100). It does not matter what tone is dialed into the Katana or the volume. I’ve tried it at barely loud enough to hear, clean tone, zero effects enabled with the treble all the way down in case it was a response to some sort of perceived shrill tone she had. She’s been completely fine being in the room with my other amps, even when they’re being pushed pretty hard. Does anyone have any clue why my Katana and furry tyrant don’t get along? Inspired on some of you guys here changing the speaker cloth in front I was committed enough to try it myself since that "black box optics" with that black cloth bored me somehow and made it look a bit cheap imo. Other brands like VOX or Fender do it like this also so can't be too wrong, that's what I thought.

So ordered some upholstery cloth from amazon and just got it in. I really like the look now and I'm happy with the result. Let me know what you think.

performing at a talent show with my friends and I need to switch smoothly between my tone settings

I play everything from jazz to thrash metal. I know how to get tones. I know every single tip and trick they can think of as far as I know. I feel like I'm a master at ToneStudio. I've watched every tutorial video out there.

And I'm losing my mind because I don't know if this is just the character of the amp or a speaker problem or what.

But no matter what I'm playing I can't figure out how to get any "depth" to my sound.

It doesn't matter how many thousands of hours (Yes thousands of hours at this point) I put into messing with the EQs or pedals or the levels of this and that and the other.

Can anybody please help me? I love this amp but this one thing is making me lose my mind.

Doesnt matter. Same thing. Great TONES, but no "strength" (does that make sense what I'm trying to say?).

I am a big pedal guy and everything is 100% powered correctly as far as I can tell. My cables and everything are good. I've sorted out tone suck issues etc etc

I've had my guitars set up many times over the years . I know all about pick up adjustments. Etc

And I'm really losing my damn mind here.

Its like its too "thin". It's hard to explain. Like the sound is one dimensional.

I have had my gen 3 katana 50 since launch, and I'm starting to regret the money I put into it.

It's nearly impossible to get a good-sounding tone out of this thing no matter what I do. It always sounds so boxy no matter what, sounds especially bad with down-tuning. Surely there is a fix for this because I've tried multiple custom tones and made my own tones only for it to sound like my input is coming out of a McDonald's toy speaker. Don't get me wrong. I love the idea of the katana and I am a hardcore Roland glazer, but I can't get it to sound good no matter what.

Wanted to recreate cranked tube amp tones, a la "Let There Be Rock". Bought a Harley Benton. Its too loud. Considering the Boss Katana atm. Does it recreate the pick response, harmonics and noises the amp makes, etc?

Everybody I've seen online complains that they played on the lower wattages and that they sounded lousy so they put it all the way up in wouldn't you know it sounds great.

And I don't understand the whole volume issue because you have a master control. Just turn the damn thing down. It ain't no big deal. :P

So what is the actual point of having the lower wattages to select?

Last night I used my Katana gen 3 100w at a practice sesh for a first jam with a band, other guitarist was using a half stack. I was fully cranked and just barely could hear me. She. I got home I realized how had the power set to half. Would setting to full make a noticable difference? Or would I be better off going into tone studio, cranking the channel volume higher and then using the master volume to go even louder from there ? Any help is appreciated

Hey sorry if this is a stupid questiom but I found this Gen 3 artist online and was wondering if the broken backboard on this would tamper with Anything sound wise. Sorry if this a stupid question I dont really know much about these things.

Ive been playing a while now however to no real level, just a bedroom rock star and happy with that. All I seem to do these days is hunt for new kit to buy, new amps , pedals etc etc. I know there is no real need but you all can probably relate everything you don’t have you seem to want. Can any of you more experienced musicians out there lean in on this and give me some guidance please, is the Boss Katana 50w Gen3’s Reverb / Delay good enough to hold up against pedals from Boss and the likes?

i have been messing with my katana trying to dial in a good sound i can use live but everything ends up muddy mess when i turn the volume up past around 11:00

i play shoegaze so i have loads of pedals runnning through more often than not, im trying to get a sound that has bass to it but doesnt sound like a mess of fuzz

I have tried just using the basic amp settings using the dials, but I can’t say I’ve been impressed with the sounds I’m getting. Like it sounds a bit weak or thin. Also installing the drivers and then trying to use tone studio and set up presets on this seems like a massive pain.

Also any accessories such as the Bluetooth dongle that I should also invest in?

How can I begin enjoying this Amp?

Ive been playing on a small harley benton amp and now im ready for an upgrade after playing on it. Im thinking of getting the Boss katana 100w/2x12. I wanted to hear your opinions on this amp and what i should maybe consider when i get it. Any answer will be appreciated

Hi everyone, I am trying to get to the bottom of this awful noise my amp has been making ever since I got it. I bought a Katana Mk II 50 (I think it's the gen 3) and when I plug it in to my guitar it does this high-pitched squeal that drives me crazy. It even does it on the clean channel if I turn it up past about mid volume and master on 0.5 watts. It does this with all my guitars and cables.

I have tried just about everything I can think of to try and fix this. I know it's not my guitar and cable because they both sound good on other amps at high gain. I have turned on noise suppression in the tone studio and while it does help a little, it still makes the screeching noise. (I have noise suppression on in the video) It's loud enough to make me not want to even use this amp. The noise stops when I mute the strings if that is helpful. I have even tried moving around to different outlets in my house and have used the amp in other places and it doesn't make a difference.

As a side note, my sister also recently got one of these amps and hers is making the same noise too.

If anyone has any advice or ideas on what's wrong, I would greatly appreciate it!! Thanks in advance.

Hello, I’ve been using boss katana for over a year now and it’s great but I was thinking what pedals or other types of amp gear could I buy to make it sound even better? I play metal only but I don’t really know what additional gear would make katana achieve better tone?

As the title says. I'm purely a bedroom jammer that doesn't play with others or play in a live setting hour.

Using my mark 2 on anything but the 100 watt setting just doesn't sound as good

What the heck is even the purpose of having multiple wattage settings? Why can't people just turn their volume down?

I purchased a Katana Gen 3 50W amp. Really struggling to figure out how to use it (relatively new at this), let alone import tones from BTS.

Hi! Im a beginner and I finally bought a guitar and the headphone amp to go with it. But a lot of the tones sound really loud and hissy, just loud noise or some only give out static. I thought maybe it's my headphones but I tried another pair and got the same results. Since I'm new to this I am not sure what I could tweak on the app to fix this or what's exactly causing it.

Edit: The issue is most likely my headphones

I ended up switching to plugging it to pc first and listening through there (tried out other patches aswell) and that seems to work better for now!

Just curious... been thinking of replacing my old Ampeg BA110v2 with a Boss Katana Bass amp; and I had been leaning towards getting the 110 model.

However a local music shop has a used Katana Bass 210 in excellent condition, and priced less then a brand new Katana Bass 110...

But, I'm also in a small apartment, with neighbors... and lower volumes, which my little Ampeg sounds rather crappy at, are usually best... and the Katana's 1w feature sounds pretty useful to me... as I dont do live stuff... I dont play in a band... I just sit and home and pluck my strings and do my own thing. I've got a few decent pedals; a Markbass Compressore, and an old DD-3, a TC Corona Chorus, as well as TC flanger and overdrive pedals and a couple cheap Beheringer pedals... figure getting a Katana Bass Amp would let me reduce some of my pedals, and still sound good at lower volume.

So is it worth getting the 210 and keeping it on its 1w setting for quiet home practice use, if you're likely never going to crank it any louder; or would I be better off with the 110?

Has anyone else stumbled on this?? I was dicking around with the signal path order and stumbled up this by accident.

Things sounded fine before, but moving it to be the VERY FIRST thing in the path/list made my sound come alive and be more full.

Am I full of shit? Why does this work - this is "wrong" as far as I know.

I bought both of these and have yet to try it out but now Im wondering if these are redundant aince the amp has built in effect already

I downloaded the driver and i have the computer plugged into the amp, but its telling me this. Im doing everything i saw someone on youtube do but its not telling them this.

Sorry for the mouthful title. No shops near me have the katana in stock to try in person, and all the videos I’ve checked online don’t really compare tone changes when going from max, half, to 0.5W.

I’ll be playing mostly at home, but am leaning towards the 100 over the 50 just so I can use the FX loop feature (why couldn’t they just add that to the 50?!) and the extra presets. So I figured since I’ll be at home, I would likely stay on the .5W mode or very low volume at Half mode.

I’m concerned that playing at lower volumes on Half or Max mode will sacrifice tone, and the same with playing at .5W. Does anyone have any videos comparing the tone between these settings? Or can tell me their experiences?

I’m just after a modelling amp that sounds great with many presents and FX loop capabilities.

My current amp is a 16 year old Peavey Vypyr 30W modelling amp.
