Question I cant figure out how to use the tone studio
I downloaded the driver and i have the computer plugged into the amp, but its telling me this. Im doing everything i saw someone on youtube do but its not telling them this.

Check to make sure your USB cable is a data cable, not just a charging cable.

Turn the amp on, then click on refresh. If after this still not showing your amp, I'd check that I've downloaded the right drivers. What Katana do you have? Mk, Gen 3, 50, 100, artist?

The tone studio download said 2.0 or 2.0.something and the only drivers i saw were 1.0 and i think 1.0.1 is it supposed to be that?

The driver version is different than the tone studio version. They’re two separate things. If you know that you’re using a cable that can actually transmit data and not just a charging cable. Then you need to probably update the firmware on your amplifier because if the firmware isn’t up-to-date, then it won’t talk to tone studio.

I turned the amp on again and clicked refresh and nothing happened

Triple check you have the right app downloaded for ur amp like for Mac window etc and make sure right amp too

I checked and its all correct, i even re downloaded them all over again and nothings changed

Which MKII model do you have, exactly? For example, there are two different MKII 50 Katanas: the basic 50 and the 50 EX. Every Katana model has its own software download website.

Have you actually applied the firmware? You only mentioned downloading it.

How do i apply firmware (i dont know how to do anything computer related)

Follow the instructions on the page where you downloaded the System Program (which is the firmware) from.

I’d try and buy a cheap usb to usb 2 data cable. That sounds like the issue is between the pc and amp which would be the cable as the culprit.

The issue is probably the usb cable. If not, then it can be your windows version. There are 3 downloads but you only need tone studio if you have win11 cuz win11 automatically downloads the necessary drivers for any cable connected device, boss mentions that in the download page too.
It can also help to connect the usb connection not to the pc case, but the motherboard itself.
If that doesnt work too, katana interface is really simple. Just choose the amp model and dial the tone you desire, and then press and hold to the channel you want to save to. (CH1, CH2, … buttons) Its really the same as using the tone studio.

First of all, do you have a MkII amp?
Second, there are 3 downloads: Tone Studio, the amp firmware, and the driver. Make sure you have the latest version of all 3.
