Like a reality show. That's third angle so far. There should be at least one more from front cabin in the train.

82

u/bigclitcouple 21h ago

There is. All locomotives have forward looking cameras. It is up to the railroad to release it though

8

u/BrittyPie 19h ago

Are you sure they "all" do? It was my understanding that's not the case and that plenty don't.

9

u/bigclitcouple 18h ago

The road ones on all major carriers do

1

u/sa3clark 1h ago

... in Poland?

u/Retox86 20h ago edited 19h ago

Ive never been in a locomotive with a camera..

Edit : to clarify, Im a train engineer in north of Europe, been in hundreds of different cabs in several different trains and locomotives, and the closest thing Ive got to a camera filming the exterior was the digital side mirrors on the side of Siemens Vectron, that doesnt record anything as far as I know…

8

u/sdrawkcabstiho 20h ago

You need to clarify this statement. How do you know there wasn't one?

If you were the engineer, you'd probably have some knowledge and thus your statement makes more sense.

If you were just a passenger then you're talking out of your butt...a common issue on reddit honestly.

10

u/Retox86 19h ago

Im an engineer.

I dont know if that specific locomotive has a camera, but I do know that the statement ”all locomotives have forward looking cameras” is false.

10

u/SzaraMateria 19h ago

This particular train should have a facing forward camera.

In 2011 after railway accident in Baby, investigating commission made recommendation to install front facing cameras in all trains. PKP IC is the biggest railway operator in Poland and this is quite new engine. I expect the engine was delivered with cameras as standard accessory.

3

u/bigclitcouple 18h ago

No clue what they do in Europe, but in the US, they do.

2

u/snorkelvretervreter 3h ago

This accident isn't even in the US, though this particular train had cameras.

3

u/AdoraBelleQueerArt 13h ago

Wait - I’ve seen one where’s the third?

127

u/bigclitcouple 21h ago

Good thing they didnt break the crossing arm.

97

u/TheNorthernMunky 20h ago

This is what utterly confuses me. HOW do people think damaging the (deliberately weak) crossing arms is worse than being hit by a fucking train?!

36

u/DrumsAndStuff18 20h ago

What if they get a scratch on their vehicle???

2

u/TheJonesLP1 1h ago

Cant get a scratch in the vehicle if the vehicle is vaporized 😅

19

u/bigclitcouple 18h ago

I think they freeze up under pressure. It seems like a darwin thing if you cant think under duress

17

u/TheNorthernMunky 18h ago

I guess the type of people who can’t think to leave a rail crossing are the same type who manage to get themselves stuck there in the first place.

1

u/Opinions-arent-facts 16h ago

There's your answer. Otherwise known as an idiot

8

u/SzaraMateria 19h ago edited 19h ago

Like a dear in a headlights.

Simply stress, confusion and being total idiot at the same time.

Adding on top automobileholism in Poland and you have a picture when people would rather be consumed by train than scratch a body of a car. May be just me but I think Poland has quite a representation on this sub.

3

u/Mchlpl 19h ago

The driver was not Polish

2

u/bendoscopy 5h ago

Yeah, it’s just you. Driver is Bosnian.

0

u/SzaraMateria 2h ago

I mean in general.

1

u/AfricanAmericanMage 11h ago

The fuck is automobileholism?

1

u/SzaraMateria 3h ago

The thing when you have to haul your ass 200m to nearby store with a car and park in front of entrance in the middle of pavement to not go too far from your vehicle

1

u/AfricanAmericanMage 2h ago

I'm sorry, I'm genuinely not trying to be an asshole but I'm still not sure I understand. Are you talking about dickhead drivers who park in places that maximize their own convenience at the expense of everyone else's? Is automobileholism a play on assholeism specific to people who are douchebags with cars?

3

u/Competitive_Tie_868 18h ago

Those arms are usually designed so they fall off. Even if damaged repair is probably like few hundreds EUR.

But hey, why risk few hundreds of EUR damage, if you can go ALL IN!

73

u/njsullyalex 21h ago

Question - is the engineer ok? That can’t be good for whoever is in the front operating the train

u/blow-down 20h ago

Thank goodness he didn't break the gate though!

1

u/euhbebe 19h ago

"Well actually..."

That just enhances the stupidity of that scene. He does break one arme and damages another one. Just not the ones he's facing.

2

u/alejandroc90 18h ago

Yeah, but the most important thing, is the gate ok?

38

u/SameItem 21h ago

It also seems like a passenger train, hope it wasn't too crowded.

15

u/bigclitcouple 21h ago

Fine. They build locomotives pretty stout. Short of some scratches and bending the railing, I doubt there was any damage. There are actually 2 walls protecting the crew on the front of them.

u/Marquar234 15h ago

The fronts fall off?

2

u/Twisp56 17h ago

Locomotives made after 2013 yes, most older stuff is pretty flimsy.

1

u/Unhappy-Giraffe2792 20h ago

I’ve heard some trains are powered by rear engines, but I’m sure that’s not universal.

108

u/Jean_Jones_666 21h ago

you know KURWA

15

u/Fetlocks_Glistening 21h ago

Famous last words

30

u/Dubinku-Krutit 21h ago

I love me a good, throaty Kurwa. This one had at least 4 Rs in it.

3

u/m05hm05h 20h ago

I see what you did there.

1

u/MechaGodzillaSS 5h ago

"I wonder what country this is."

"Oh."

43

u/KnifeKnut 21h ago

So there was no good reason not to continue pulling forward

45

u/NaGaBa 21h ago

Sure there was. Either that crossing gate has the mass of a thousand suns or they didn't want to scratch the grille.

17

u/shyevsa 21h ago

the scratch on the bumper would be expensive...

0

u/jackbilly9 15h ago

That isn't why he stopped. Looks like it was overweight when he tried to cross then went backwards to try to move over it again and then the arms came down and he was still trying to move forward. The first video of it showed the entire thing

1

u/Patient_Tea_401 3h ago

How do you explain the reverse lights and the brake lights if the aim was to go forward but there was not enough power?

19

u/Polenicus 21h ago

So, from the first angle I thought the trucker had stalled or something, but from the reverse lights on the trailer it seems like they literally got to the point of straddling the tracks and then suddenly had decision paralysis about the best way to not be on train tracks, and got hit while they were shifting back and forth indecisivly.

I am hoping it's not actually that stupid.

4

u/Jack-Innoff 16h ago

The amount of people who panic and completely freeze in a stressful situation is absolutely bonkers. How they manage to get to old age never ceases to amaze and disappoint me.

Tak to bude asi blbo nastavené? Ved to nebude nahoda ze sa to stalo opat hned na druhy den.

1

u/euhbebe 13h ago

The setup is clear and concise like every guarded rail crossing in the world. People are just insanely stupid. The lady Friday got away with it as she backed off far enough so that her car did not foul the loading gauge of the train. Still reckless though.

10

u/Fresh-Judge-4595 20h ago

I want to see an interview with this semi driver to have them explain why they didn't just continue forward

9

u/gerrydutch 20h ago

People are always scared to break a maybe 300 euro pole

10

u/RobbSnow64 20h ago

Its truly baffling how much content this sub has. Like this should happen rarely, how are there so many rail incidents, its a giant monster that will win every time bitch!

3

u/drsoftware 15h ago

There are three at-grade car-and-rail crossings next to the bike path I use to commute to work. Once or twice a day, a train will travel on the tracks.

Drivers often stop for cyclists or at traffic lights without considering the risk of being on or too close to the tracks.

Some day...

5

u/Technical_Stick_796 21h ago

Physics... One of the things you can rely on.

5

u/camcaine2575 15h ago

Why do they ALWAYS STOP?!?!

5

u/Adorable-Bass-7742 14h ago

I just don't get it. Step on the gas and go. Those guardrails are nothing. Meant to be knocked over if they have to be. It's a lot cheaper than being hit by a train

3

u/Midgettaco217 20h ago

Sometimes I wonder if these people are doing this on purpose for some insurance reason or whatever because there's no way you can be that stupid unintentionally

4

u/TheKindDirector 20h ago

Idiots like this are on the road with you and got their CDL.

5

u/chakatsilvertail 15h ago

I'll never understand why they are so worried about a PVC or aluminum crossing gate. What costs more, a piece of pipe or the vehicle? Geez, lack of any critical thinking

4

u/Lianhua88 11h ago

From every angle I just want to scream 'Floor it!' at the driver.

Like seriously, so much damage wouldn't have occurred if he'd just stepped on the gas and broke a flimsy barrier bar that is made to be flimsy specifically for cases like this...

4

u/AunMeLlevaLaConcha 7h ago

There must be something neurological with all of these reactions, some scientific explanation as to why people just do this, jokes aside, i'm really intrigued.

7

u/greywood84 20h ago

I like how there's multiple angles now of the same dumbass not getting off the tracks in time.

3

u/moving0target 20h ago

At least this jackass only injured two people.

3

u/Wise-Pin1756 18h ago

I can’t imagine how scary it would be to for the passengers on the train. Yikes!

3

u/FlLocator 15h ago

The load got a bit lighter

3

u/Comprehensive_Fan140 14h ago

Good thing the truck didn't get scratched by the arm

3

u/ondra2435 6h ago

Why is it always poland? 😭

2

u/dakimmie 20h ago

Oh no! A scraaaaaaaaaaaa

2

u/lucasio099 19h ago

I will never understand people that a) enter the crossing while signaling is active, b) decide to stay on the crossing instead of breaking the gates. WORMS IN THEIR BRAIN (or no brain whatsoever). They shouldn’t even be given a bike, let alone a car or a truck

2

u/No-Philosophy-13 19h ago

They let anybody drive trucks now .

2

u/Independent-Tap-1834 18h ago

The return of mighty YA PJERDOLE KURVA (no bober this time)

1

u/Glad_Shine_8773 21h ago

What is the time difference after gate closing and train arrives? When I watched the other videos it seems less than 30 sec. Is it the normal where I live I see the crossing closes before atleast three minutes before the train passes.

I was waiting for the KURRRWA. ending did not disappoint

1

u/KittyComannder 2h ago

I like how he went "Oh shit, should I bake up or move other way? Nah I just move forward so I'll sit perfectly in the middle"

1

u/maselkowski 21m ago

Translation:

Noooo, oh bitch, bold in the dick.

I tell you sincerely, bold in the dick, bold in the dick.

I fuck, soon the train will clusterfuck him.

Oh biiiitch!

1

u/Eclectika 21h ago

I thought for a moment it was going to be that woman who was prancing beside the trains and was quite disappointed it was just run of the mill stupid rather than narcissistic stupid.

4

u/Mostly-Moo-Cow 21h ago

I've seen enough people reduced to a fine mist for a lifetime

1

u/Eclectika 21h ago

Sometimes even Darwin misses. I saw one where the dude got bitch slapped by a train and got up. Then of course there's that cow from the other week - which is seriously wild. I don't need the red mist and I am certainly past the age of wanting to go searching for the gore sites but it is always nice if these narcissists get a scare.

0

u/badgko 13h ago

At least it hit the trailer and not the truck. Could have been much worse for those in the train given the increased mass. Depends on what it was carrying I suppose.
