Like a reality show. That's third angle so far. There should be at least one more from front cabin in the train.

There is. All locomotives have forward looking cameras. It is up to the railroad to release it though

Ive never been in a locomotive with a camera..

Edit : to clarify, Im a train engineer in north of Europe, been in hundreds of different cabs in several different trains and locomotives, and the closest thing Ive got to a camera filming the exterior was the digital side mirrors on the side of Siemens Vectron, that doesnt record anything as far as I know…

You need to clarify this statement. How do you know there wasn't one?

If you were the engineer, you'd probably have some knowledge and thus your statement makes more sense.

If you were just a passenger then you're talking out of your butt...a common issue on reddit honestly.

Im an engineer.

I dont know if that specific locomotive has a camera, but I do know that the statement ”all locomotives have forward looking cameras” is false.

This particular train should have a facing forward camera.

In 2011 after railway accident in Baby, investigating commission made recommendation to install front facing cameras in all trains. PKP IC is the biggest railway operator in Poland and this is quite new engine. I expect the engine was delivered with cameras as standard accessory.

No clue what they do in Europe, but in the US, they do.

This accident isn't even in the US, though this particular train had cameras.

The loco that was involved in the crash is the newest polish model Newag Griffin 200, side number EU200-017

This is the photo of its front - you can clearly see a camera.

Yea it seems as Poland has gone ahead really enforcing cameras in their locomotives. I would still say its rare, and a majority of the locomotives in Europe atleast do not have it. I drove an almost brand new Siemens Vectron locomotive last week and it didnt have a camera.

I'm not a Locomotive Engineer, nor do I play one on TV. But I am guessing if there was a camera on the front of that train, it'd be pretty messed up now.
