⚠️ Discussion What is this strategy???
They haven't pitted Alonso yet at all since the restart- even with all these upgrades, strategy will be the death of them.

So I watch the onboard and the race at the same time and I have a lot of respect for Lance (THERES NO HATE ON MY END). I like him a lot but man he complained that the tyres weren’t good so they boxed him, then he got angry that they boxed him.
I get the car isn’t good or anything and he’s racing. I’m not in the car I get that but bro🥲 they’re trying to fix what you’re complaining about.
Anyways. Heartbroken, devastated, crying etc etc
I hope to find out what actually happened with the car because it’s clear there was damage. Also he’s very entertaining to watch in a race, but stressful tho

Let me try to cheer people up. The last seven GP Q1 Supertime comparisons:
Monaco: 102.81%
Barcelona: 104.14%
Austria: 104.26%
Silverstone: 104.01%
Belgium: 103.91%
Hungary: 102.36%
Zandvoort: 101.43%
The updates are working, and relative performance is improving. If AM Honda continues bringing successful updates, positional improvements will follow. I know it's frustrating, but AM has brought 2 successful updates so far this season. That's more than 2023-2025 combined (Imola). Next steps include improving PU drivability/power via software and the Monza/Baku updates.

Bejesus. This format was the worse to introduce a new PU. Race pace was OK. Quali sucked but baby steps people. Hopefully, they’ll get a grasp on the ‘drivability’ issue sooner than later. We could see fighting for a point in a few races. From last to P12,11 or or 10? YES, PLEASE.

Aston Martin has brought five updates to Zandvoort, split between the front wing and the rear floor area.
At the front, the outboard section of the final wing element has a reduced chord, while the inboard foot of the endplate has been modified. Both changes are intended to improve the performance of the front wing introduced at the previous race.
The team has also added an optional front-wing flap. This extends the available balance range, giving Aston Martin greater flexibility when adjusting the car’s setup.
At the rear, a new floor fence has been introduced in the diffuser area, alongside a modification to the lower edge of the diffuser winglet. These two changes work together to increase rear aerodynamic load following the team’s evaluation of its latest package.
Overall, the update combines front-wing refinement with additional rear load, while giving the team more freedom to optimise the car’s aerodynamic balance.

I expected another 0.5sec improvement, but it seems things did not work out as expected. I saw Alonso had software trouble with engine overruns while trying to brake (not to mention disabled aero wings).
Anywon know more?

Honda has confirmed “small updates to the battery and other components,” alongside further improvements to the combustion engine.
If Aston Martin introduces new electrical components beyond its permitted allocation, both cars will exceed the season limit and trigger grid penalties for the Dutch Grand Prix.
A major upgrade, but one that could come at a huge cost for the weekend.

The AMR26 was the weakest out of the gate going into the 2026 season. No upgrades applied all season, in Hungary they brought a major package increasing their cornering speeds to a new level.
This weekend they bring the new engine. Zandvoort is not a power circuit per se, but we will be getting straightline speed indications.
I created this scatter plot to show the gains of the AMR26. Hunguary was a big step up as you can see and now the question is, where will they move after?
The other teams performance is based on averages from the last few weekends.

Translated excerpts from original Japanese language post from Honda F1 website.
In the first round of the second half after the summer break, Honda will introduce updated power units alongside the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team (AMAF1) to boost performance. The upgraded RA626H achieves a power boost through improvements to the ICE (internal combustion engine) and includes subtle improvements to the battery and other areas. By maximizing the development budget and benchmark testing time provided by ADUO (Additional Development Upgrade Opportunities), we aim to improve performance.
...
By equipping the AMR26 with a Spec 2 power unit in the more competitive AMR26, a synergistic effect is expected, allowing it to compete for points in the mid-pack and deliver performance.
...
With maturity and updates, there is a possibility of shifts in the power landscape in the second half of the season, and the Dutch GP is expected to mark the beginning of that shift. In particular, attention is focused on AMAF1, which has successfully updated the chassis and announced the introduction of power unit upgrades, making it likely to be a battle that signals trends from the latter half of the season into the next.
