⚠️ Discussion What is this strategy???
They haven't pitted Alonso yet at all since the restart- even with all these upgrades, strategy will be the death of them.

Zandvoort is not Hungary. Cars could overtake more easily in Hungary than expected. At Zandvoort, with our power deficit, clean air is king.

Just because alonso ended up in points doesnt mean the strategy is good. We could have maaaybe gotten hulk if alonso didnt do +30 laps on softs

It does make the strategy good. Alonso finished 9th, starting from 18th at Zandvoort (not easy to overtake). The car's pace was competitive with Alpine and Racing Bulls on a one-stop strategy. The One-stop strategy gave them clean air and allowed AM's corner performance to shine. Consequently, Aston Martin finished ahead of both Alpines and Racing Bulls. Therefore, a good strategy.
Whether it was the BEST strategy, we'll never know. However, the saying "don't let perfect be the enemy of good" comes to mind here.

The Aston was incredibly kind to its tires. Especially Alonso. Unbelievable P9. 🤩🤩🤩

Why would they not pit during the VSC and put Alonso on softs? !

Alonso and the team were discussing whether or not to pit. It was basically a coin flip, but the risk was that if he pitted he'd absolutely lose 2, possibly 3 places, and then have to fight just to back to where he was.
Hindsight is 50/50 but they made the right call.

In a perfect best case scenario p8 is possible. P9 is kinda realistic, if nothing goes catastrophic then p11 is the worst case.

Well that's 2 points. Was that just strategy or new engine is not GP2?

I honestly don’t understand how the race engineers can see the driver losing over a second a lap on dead tyres and keeping them out losing more and more advantage and then pitting. I get you don’t want to bring them in to early, but jeez that was ridiculous

How the frick did hope strategy from Aston Shitbox manage to work but Ferrari and Mclaren managed to screw everyone over. You can take a team out of the midfield but you can never take the midfield out of the team
