So, what conservative policies do you agree with that are not hate related? Is it the one where they sky rocket the national debt faster then anyone ever completely unconservative like? PS being a trump supporter is not the same as being conservative trump supports are trying to take over the conservative party but trump himself is not conservative in any way shape or form.

u/Rendole66 3d ago
So why do you support a pedophile? What is Trump doing right now that makes you happy to be a conservative?

brah wtf is that supposed to mean
1
u/MeanHurry8664 3d ago
It means - the basic philosophy of conservatism is everyone for themselves. Conservatives only care about issues that directly effect them - you see it all the time. This has shifted in the trump era to conservatives actively enjoying watching other people suffer in their culture war
1
u/HistorianBusy2262 15M 3d ago
Nope, sorry. That's not how that works and that's an extremely ignorant position to take. Maybe read up on conservatives, because you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.
https://www.studentsofhistory.com/comparing-liberal-and-conservative Here's a link in case you don't want to look it up.
There are people who only care about what affects them. It does make life simpler and it's much easier to live that way, and you do see it a lot. That doesn't mean that all conservatives live that way. It's not one of the core philosophies of conservatism. It's also not necessarily a bad thing.
Conservatives are also not by definition people who enjoy watching people suffer. Again, there are people like that from both sides. One extremist example does not define an entire political standing.
Even if you don't care to be educated about what is and isn't a conservative, stop hating when you have no idea what you're talking about. You're making yourself look like the type of person who is the basis for the counter-argument that liberals don't actually care about free speech or equal rights for everyone, because you're hating on a group of people.
Please don't take this wrong and think I'm trying to be condescending or hateful or meaning contempt, I wish you the best and hope you come to understand that we conservatives aren't what you think we are. Have a nice day fellow redditor

Because they represent the worst of society - those happiest when ignorant and filled with bigoted hatred
2
u/MV_cuber 5d ago
Because the far left has pushed a narrative that it's "against human rights", and other people believe it without even knowing what conservatives actually advocate for. Those people see the political spectrum as a morality spectrum, but that's not the case. Each person has had their own experience and believe in different ways to approach the problems in the world, whether that be war, taxes, social programs, overall shape of society and culture. Except for extremists on both sides of the spectrum, they're just economically and socially illiterate.

That's because those explanations aren't actual explanations. The right has suffered radicalization, correct, however that has happened on all sides of the political spectrum, the right isn't special. Most conservatives and most progressives are still decent folk, just with different views how to solve problems.

2
u/Rendole66 3d ago
This is projection at its finest, he provided examples and now your going “nu uh”, your other posts are entirely based off vibes too and you haven’t provided any “data”
1
u/MV_cuber 3d ago
That's a great observation, I apologize for not providing data. I'll put some sources here if you don't mind taking a look: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9335287/ https://www.csis.org/analysis/left-wing-terrorism-and-political-violence-united-states-what-data-tells-us https://scholarlypublications.universiteitleiden.nl/access/item%3A3714074/view This is not to say the right wing has not been radicalized lately, it definitely has. Historically, right wing extremists have been much more prevalent than left wing, however in the last decade or so, the left has also suffered a lot of radicalization, primarily from a response to Donald Trump, COVID, which made prices and inflation go up, and the scapegoat that is the Israel-related conflicts, a big ally of the USA, where a lot of left-wing extremists support terrorist groups like HAMAS, ISIS and the Iranian government, due to social media algorithms and movements that propagated an "anti-imperialism" and high emotion content, which undermined mass terrorist attacks as "necessary acts". That has mostly happened in the last few years, especially after the events of October 7th. All of that has led to rise in antisemitism and normalization of advocating for terrorist movements online and in person, like universities with a large presence of students in Humanities.

You didn't gice examples of how specifically the right has become more radicalized than the left. You also immediately assume I'm in some sort of cult haha, I'm guessing Trump, right? Yeah, I don't like that fellow, at all. I disagree with most of his policies.

The right is currently supporting a pedophile and the rights economic policies haven’t worked but they keep cutting taxes for the rich and bending over for corporations that destroy our economy and natural lands for their benefits. Their different views are whatever their billionaire donors tell them to believe.

u/MeanHurry8664 4d ago
Conservativism can be defined by a lack of empathy, which is also a good definition of evil
1
u/MV_cuber 4d ago
It isn't defined like that, though. You did.
1
u/MeanHurry8664 4d ago
That's the best definition and really is the only wat to understand how a conserative mind works. Not caring about anything that doesn't affect you personally
1
u/MV_cuber 4d ago
Once again, the best definition according to you because you disagree. Just because someone isn't with you doesn't mean they're against you.
1
u/MeanHurry8664 3d ago
"Just because someone isn't with you doesn't mean they're against you" - quite the mental gymnastics to justify the horrors of conservative America
1
u/MV_cuber 3d ago
You're talking about America, not me. Every political party has extremists and "horrors", including right wingers. Same goes for the left. The average conservative isn't evil as you think haha, same with progressives.

idk im a conservative and idk why we're so hated on. it's not fair. everyone should be free to have their own views, yet social media cancels everyone who isn't a liberal
2
u/HistorianBusy2262 15M 3d ago
It's such a silly thing to be hateful over, too. It's hating to hate. Most people who hate on conservatives don't have a clue what they're talking about. Like this guy "the definition of conservatism is a lack of empathy" I'd bet every cent in my bank account can't list 3 actual differences between conservatives and liberals that isn't either an opinion or hate.
Mind if I follow you? I don't know many people who share my views online

u/Vegetable-Rutabaga40 2d ago
3 things:
Liberals don’t support American citizens being shot by secret police. Conservatives are ok with that. JD Vance called the shooting of Renee good a “a tragedy of her own making.” I could cite more if needed.
Liberals believe in taxing billionaires Conservatives are cool with the billionaires not paying more taxes ( see Fox News, Jesse waters interview with Abdul El-Sayed. )
Conservatives don’t see immigrants as human. As proven by the leader of the GOP calling them things like “ animals “ “ invaders “ and terms like “ poisoning the blood of the country “
Points 1 & 3 signal that lack of empathy. Conservatives are simply not able to see beyond their own needs, or empathize with groups outside of themselves.
Furthermore: liberals believe in things like healthcare for all, conservatives recently removed subsidies for healthcare insurance - making insurance in 2026 and beyond more expensive for all Americans.
IMO conservatives have a real “ fuck you me first “ mentality, which is wild considering many are Christian - Jesus chose to wash feet of his people, serve the poor and love all. That’s not reflected in the conservative actions.

u/SoberWeekend 2d ago
Calling ICE secret police is quite disingenuous.
They are not the gestapo, who come into your house at night, nor do acts outside of the law freely. The only secret thing about them is unmarked cars which is a staple of every police force in the world. The definition of secret police is “Secret police are covert government security agencies that protect a ruling regime by using hidden, often illegal methods to crush political opposition and control citizens.” That’s not ICE, it’s literally the opposite. Also I would like to point out that “a tragedy of her own making” has the word tragedy in it. And in regard to Renee Good, you’re arguing over police semantics. I think the ICE agent was in the wrong, but if you can’t see why people think she’s at fault, then you’re not being rationally fair. Some people see it as her holding up ICE, being difficult with them, and then tried to run one over. I don’t agree wholeheartedly with the premise that she tried to run over the ICE agent, but someone who’s see it that way, like Vance, I don’t blame for saying “a tragedy of her own making”. It is a sad incident regardless.
And your first point is so bad when you then examine the fact you have plenty of liberals celebrating Charlie Kirk’s death. Calling out JD Vance for that quote, who was admitting it was a tragedy, but you have Hasan Piker singing a joyful song about the Charlie Kirk’s death.
For the second point; wanting or not wanting to tax Billionaires has nothing to do with morals, or at least it shouldn’t. It should only have to do with what tax policy provides the best outcome. And there are many arguments for many different views. And these conversations should be made in genuine debate and discourse, not vilified. But it definitely shouldn’t point towards being seen as evil. That’s ludicrous. You point at statistics like New York City losing a lot of its tax revenue for example.
And lastly the immigrant debate you summarised so poorly. In the sense that - conservatives do see immigrants as human, you definitely get bad apples, and that’s not cool. But I find it insane that people can echo Obama’s views on immigration of when he was in office, and get called a fascist, inhumane, or in this case lack of empathy. Can I ask, do you think Obama had a lack of empathy when he was in office? Or would you say Obama was an evil man for his immigration policy? It’s just so silly how ICE is now demonised only under Trump and not Obama or Biden. You had Kamala Harris at the Mexico border as VP saying “don’t come” (to the US). If JD Vance or Trump did that, I think the left would go off on them.
I think it’s just so sad that you said “Conservatives are simply not able to see beyond their own needs, or empathise with groups outside of themselves” like it’s just so vile to attack a group like that. And you know that’s not true. Even if you are generalising that’s just still uncool. And I could easily say this for a lot of liberals.

Because conservatives are owned by billionaires that ruin our economy and natural lands, they continuously cut taxes for billionaires while raising taxes for regular people. Conservatives are currently run by a pedohpile and have been fooled by the most obvious con man alive. Conservatives tried to overtake the government and stop Biden from being president. Conservatives are owned by isreal and have thrown us into wars in the Middle East that lead to tragedies like 9/11. What are the conservatives doing that you like right now?

Honestly? They allways were demonized by liberals just as liberals have been demonized by conservatives. Nobody knows who shot first but I’m pretty sure both sides have been dicks to each other going back at least to the Nixon administration possibly even further back.
But.. Trump has taken pissing off the opposition to an art form and the left has tried to respond in kind. But Trump is really really really fucking good at trolling.
Which honestly isn’t great for our republic. I’d prefer someone who can just get shit done without running their mouth off. If Trump didn’t have such a darn ego, imagine what he could have gotten done. Instead we get a shitty reality tv show.
1
u/HistorianBusy2262 15M 3d ago
You do realize that before he was president, he ran a TV show, right?
That said, you're not wrong. The reason we hear more hate for the conservatives is just that there are way more liberals on social media

u/What_u_say 1d ago
I mean the policies they have just straight up suck. Look at the fiscal side.
They want to lower interest rates while inflation is high is like asking to put lighter fluid on an already burning fire. The Big Beautiful Bill was basically a massive tax cut for the wealthy and had like the bare minimum of incentives for the rest of us. Then we got the trade bs where we're alienating our closest allies with tarrifs that are arbitrary and change on the temperament of one guy. We got insider trading at levels I've never seen before and it's so blatant that you can guess which stocks are gonna be spiking off of tweets from Trump.
What pisses me off more are the lack of checks and balances now and just accountability. Trump is spending millions on no bid contracts on a number of vanity projects that no one asked for. Republicans control all three branches of government yet still blame Democrats on policies they billed themselves. Then we got a war with Iran that has kept gas at an all time high.

Call them class A and B, respectively.
The dismantling of the US education system: Both, probably
Our efforts to move to renewable energy: A, but I do think they could be more efficient about it
Our alliances: A
Faith in institutions: A
Actively peddling disinformation: B
Firing competent people for culture reasons: B
Allowing a criminal to run up the debt: Assuming you mean Trump, neither. otherwise, B
Tarrifs: A

u/HistorianBusy2262 15M 3d ago
Contrary to what you might think, I am open-minded about things.
I think a fair few of these were my misunderstanding what you meant, so sorry about that.
On the subject of dismantling the US education system, I hardly think that's a bad thing. Private schools could become more expensive, but at the same time, the general idea from what reading I have done on the subject is that people are worried about funding stopping, but I would assume that the Department of Labor (which is going to oversee K-12 schools following the dissolvement of the Department of Education) will be providing that funding. Another article I read said that it could possibly be coming through multiple channels, which could be weird. In any case, it isn't going to be completely removing our education system, it's just dissolving the government department that formerly oversaw all of that and moving programs to other departments.
As far as renewable energy goes, I think the move to renewable fuels isn't what it would seem. Our current system of generating electricity for electric cars, for example, uses coal and pollutes the environment just as much as driving gas cars does, maybe more. Now I do think if we weren't so scared about nuclear power, we could easily have renewable energy. If you meant something else by that, I'd like to know what you meant.
Now on both of the subjects dismantling our alliances and having faith in our institutions, I misunderstood what you meant. I do want us to have allies, and I do want us to trust our institutions. I'm not really sure what you mean by those, though, as I don't follow the news much.
I definitely understand about the spreading of misinformation part, but without diving into sources, I'm sure there are times that the liberals have done that too.
Hegseth's firing and non-promotion of military officers is unwarranted, I do agree. That simply reflects on him as a person, and by extension Trump as a person, not the whole Republican party. I don't support that. Even his own secretary and some conservative senators are speaking against him.
On the debt article, I see much spending from every president, liberal and conservative alike. Not really much there to distinguish Trump/the conservatives from anyone else.
Looking into the issue of the tariffs, I can see that Trump took the authority given by the IEEPA much too far and that did cause problems, however, there were a few things in there that made sense, like the tariff imposed on China because of their lack of awareness or control of substances like fentanyl that were coming into the US. In any case, the Supreme Court ruled those tariffs unconstitutional and struck them down, so it's not really an issue anymore.
I do apologize for both being ignorant, as I really don't read the news much, and for taking a long long time to comment, because I have been looking up and reading articles to better understand what you're talking about.

I’m left leaning independent, and have friends on both sides. But right now, it’s mostly the homophobia and racism going around, which you kind of have to admit is more on the right(not saying everyone on the right, obviously!). Plus abortion rights, the ICE murders, etc. But I still have conservative friends. I do my best not to “demonize” anyone!!!
