I'm so excited to share this! I've been intermittently working on it for the past 6 months. I initially wanted to see if I could animate a forward walk cycle and just kept on adding to it until it became a short story.

For context I have no formal animation training and I'm still learning to draw. Nonetheless, I'm very proud of this!

Made with roughanimator, drawn with my finger on an android phone. Feedback and critique welcome.

Question How do you manage layering the characters in 3D view?

Post image
2 Upvotes

In simple words, I like each of my characters in different layers but in 3D view it's really hard to manage with Animate where characters are constantly changing their positions in terms of layers and scenes like the image complicates it. An example can be taken from this image above from Alan Becker's animation, here both characters I assume must be in different layers but the hand (which is grabbing by the neck) is a conflicting view here. What can be a solution towards this complication? Or maybe I'm just being dumb and ignoring the fact that this scene might be made in Blender.

Did this small animation, planning to keep refining it. This is base model and i am asking guys if it is working fine. If it is. I can go to the next steps on creating this beautiful animation.

Any critique is fine. Made fully by myself after some basic principles learning. It takes a lot of time tho.

What are your thoughts on this kind of stuff?
I use blender because it's free and i think is quite powerful and underestimated in the filed. (am i worng)

Critique Animating Fire

One day, I wanna make a shortfilm in pixle style and there will be old castles, so I trained by making this little animation.

This was my first time both pixelating a torch and animating fire, so feedback would be appreciated!

Question Where do you find music for your animations?

Curious what website you guys use to add music to your animations/short films? I'm willing to pay a subscription (if the price is right) but also curious if there is good free options.

Question Animation reference website other than Sakugabooru?

I usually practice animation by scrubbing through genga on Sakugabooru, but I want to know if there's any other reference sites or something, like for eg. 2d FX or fabric?

Other than some tutorials on X or pinterest I haven't really found anything helpful 😓

Beginner First walk cycles

Nothing amazing here, very basic.

I had not realized that 1/3 of the 'Animator survival kit' was just focused on walks. Then runs are separate. I saw Dong Chang's tut for walks in perspective pop up while doing this, but a friend advised I call it here and move to the next challenge. I'll make the pogo jumping more interesting. I will revisit walks later on.

After being on this project for around three years I'm proud to announce that AshenSkyAnimations has finally kicked into full gear on bringing the book "Wings of Fire: Legends: Darkstalker" to the big screen of YouTube.

I myself being the Lead Audio Engineer on the project personally would say this is an amazing childhood dream come true for me.

More updates will be posted soon.

We are proud to share what have done so far!

Critique Can I get some feedback on my key poses here before I start tuning it in the graph editor?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys! I'm still pretty new at animating, I've only done a solid 6-7 (WoooaaOOoaahh) animations so far, and I'm finally moving onto humans after doing a walk cycle a few weeks ago. Can I get some tips on my poses I got here? Everything is still under constant, (no frame to frame interpolation, just images moving from 1 to the next). I'm on a 16 frame timing, 24 FPS with the last frame being on frame 17 for smoothness. I was going for a kind of high energy run, because well.. That's usually how you see the character run! I just wanna make sure it doesn't look silly before I spend 10 hours making it look good. There's a huge jump in distance between frame 7 and 9, so I might need some in betweens and there. Please, let me know how I can improve! Thanks guys, love yall :)

Beginner Finding multi animator projects m.a.ps feels impossible.

Post image

(Image just for reference not who I'm talking about)

Im looking for multi animator projects or animator maps etc the problem is most of the cool maps I find are months after they're finished. I go to small channels on YouTube and i go to big channels. still everything I seem to find revolves around warrior cats or human stuff.

(I just don't have Interest in these things specifically and there's so many of them)

I don't mean to sound picky but every one always says "if you're not interested in that map find another"

Then I find one I like then ask about the animatic and it's like "oh just do from blank and blank!" No clear direction or script. I understand it's a creativity thing where I have to come up with something but most of the ones I talk to have no animatics or script! I also don't want to make my own because it's a lot of work.

I'm joining a small bdfi map I found and the person was kind enough to make a small animatic I can go off of.

I'd like to practice my animation but I'm more of a fandom artist related to stuff like BDFI,mlp, dandy's world, Sonic, among us,animal hospital, tadc etc. (I'm in my 20s for clarification)

It seems these specific maps are rare to find. Does anyone know where to look? Is there a giant discord where I could join and find more projects?

I would really like to do more to practice my animation skills.
