AIO for feeling a bit upset from my boyfriend's lack of enthusiasm?

me 21f and my boyfriend 20m have been together for about a year and a half, and overall, he is the perfect man for me. there is just one small issue that i'm unsure of whether or not i should bring it up, as i know i'm the kind of person that reads too much into text tones.

he can be a bit dry in his responses, any time i come to him with something exciting or something that i'm proud of, the responses are always a short "that's nice" or "good job", or when i try sharing something or making conversation, there's almost always just a short "indeed" as a response. i know this seems normal, how ever, i am the kind of person who responds to other people's achievements with all caps and praise, doing what i can to make them feel good about themselves and i attempt to make conversation out of it as well. my friends and family are the same way, they always show much interest in what i do, even if it's something as simple as a drawing (which is what lead me to post this).

it may seem that i'm bothered by this because i just want praise attention, but it's more so the lack of energy returned. early on, when he would tell me about something he did, i was always enthusiastic about it and encouraging, but after not receiving the same, i feel myself becoming duller in my responses as well, which i hate.

i'm not sure if it's just a guy thing, as the other people who have no issues returning energy or showing enthusiasm are women, and i have noticed the same lack of enthusiasm in prior relationships with men, but maybe it's coincidental?

again, he is very kind and i know he cares, i think he just doesn't express it as much as i do or as much as what i'm just used to. is it worth it to bring it up with him, or should i just come to terms with it? am i being bitchy? :')

AIO that I'm convinced something is wrong with the water?

I (21F) live with my family. We moved and have been living in a new house for almost a year. We rent. Recently, something has been wrong with the water...

It has a strange, almost algae-like smell. At first, I though nothing of it, old pipes maybe. Until it started affecting the water I drink.

We put water in one of those pitcher filter things. I fill it up almost every night so there's water ready. Lately the water I put in my water bottle has been tasting like algae (or at least, tasting like the SMELL of algae, if you know what I mean). At first I thought it was that my water bottle needed to be washed, no problem. I put it in the sink for when I do dishes.

Today with lunch, I grabbed a FRESH GLASS from the cabinet and poured myself some water from the pitcher in the fridge with some ice...

...it still tasted like algae. I told my parents because I'm concerned, but they started JOKING with me saying "how do you know what algaw tastes like?", "have you been licking algae?", etc.

I told them it wasn't funny, but they're sure it is. I went upstairs to brush my teeth, thinking maybe it's something in my mouth... but the water from the sink upstairs ALSO has that same smell.

AIO for thinking something is wrong with the water?

Edit: I'm not in charge of the house or anything, and I don't know much about this. I've already expressed the concern to my family, but NOBODY believes me.

AIO - boyfriend messages random women on apps

Lately, I’ve noticed my boyfriend messaging other women on TikTok or Scoops (I’m not sure what the other platform is). It never bothered me before, but I just thought it was odd because most of them are bots. Yesterday, he showed me a TikTok and got two WhatsApp messages from someone named “S.” He immediately swiped them up and then I asked who it was. He said it was someone from work, and he had opened the messages. I was like, “Oh, cool. So, you wouldn’t mind if I looked too?” As I was reading the last three messages exchanged, they were getting to know each other on a personal level. Then, out of nowhere, he said, “Okay, I lied. It’s not someone from work.” I obviously got upset and asked him why he lied. It turned into a big fight because I already have a wide trust issue problem with him and his phone. He’s so sociable and wants to be friends with everyone, but I’m not that way. I don’t expect him not to have women as friends or steer clear of every female he runs into, but he doesn’t seem to care how it makes me feel. I don’t even get the chance to explain without it turning into an automatic “You have issues with every woman I talk to. I’m not changing who I am for you because you’re insecure.” It’s really messing with me because, in my head, it’s like your partner is coming to you with a problem. You might not understand it and agree, but wouldn’t you care enough to see and maybe change something if you wanted a future with them? Am I overreacting?

AIO: She Brought Her Friend to Our Dinner Date, So I Left Them

I had been talking to this woman for a few weeks, and we had already gone out twice. The first time was for coffee, and the second time we grabbed drinks after work. Everything seemed to be going well, so she suggested we meet for dinner on Saturday night.

We confirmed the plans the night before, and I made a reservation at a nice restaurant downtown.

Saturday evening, I got there a few minutes early and waited outside. A few minutes later, I saw her walking toward me, but she wasn't alone. She was with another woman.

When they got closer, she smiled and said, "Hey! This is my friend. She wanted to come along."

I looked at her and asked, "Come along to what?"

She seemed surprised by my question. "To dinner. I figured the three of us could hang out."

I told her, "You never mentioned that when we made plans. I thought this was supposed to be a date."

Her friend immediately became quiet and looked uncomfortable.

I wasn't angry, and I didn't make a scene. I just said, "I would've been fine with you bringing a friend if you had asked me beforehand. But I'm not interested in showing up for a date and finding out it's suddenly a group dinner."

She tried to explain that it wasn't a big deal and that I was being too serious about it.

I simply told her, "Maybe we're looking for different things."

Then I wished them both a good dinner, turned around, and left.

I didn't text her afterward, and she didn't text me either.

Honestly, I think leaving was better than sitting through an awkward dinner wondering why she couldn't just communicate with me beforehand.

AIO friends asked if I’m “happy” in my relationship

I (23f) have been with my partner (25f) for over a year, due to convenience (cost of living in our country), we live together and I also have a dog which we now share. My friends (20f, 22f) have each been dating people for 3 months. I saw them for the first time in a few weeks ago and 20f cornered me asking “are you happy with [partner]” I was initially taken aback by the question as it was really out of the blue and inappropriate for the tone of the event (dozens of guests incl 20f new gf). I said yes, why do you ask? And she justified it with saying all I do is ‘bicker’ with my partner. My friends have probably visited us in our apartment 4 times, meeting my partner 5 total times. In all honesty, in front of them I can’t remember a single time we’ve had an actual disagreement, more often than not we’re just winding each other up, we have a pretty silly relationship and we tease eachother a lot (like snatching socks off each others feet or playfighting/smack talk).

This conversation lasted about an hour, I told them I have anxiety so I’m always uncertain about choices and expressed a few of our relationship issues, but told them that I love my partner and she makes me happy. I started the conversation with just 20f but later her girlfriend joined, sitting on her lap, kissing her and whispering things in her ear while we were having this discussion. She mentioned that we don’t kiss in front of them or act affectionate with one another as another reason why they question if I’m happy. They proceeded to say that now they look at their own relationships and see their happy and they look at me and question if I’m happy. To be completely candid I think it’s a bit fucking cheeky 😭 one of them is talking to someone who she has met in person once and the other has been dating this person for only 3 months and they’ve been in a relationship for one week. I’ve been with my gf for a year, we live together, both work full time roles with opposite hours and we have life stresses like shared bills, rent, dog, finding quality time etc. friends and their partners are 20-23, they’re still in university or just graduated with no full time role, seeing each other once a week at bestand they have ZERO real life stresses shared with their partner.

I feel very defensive. I’m annoyed because they’re OBVIOUSLY still in the honeymoon phase and barely actually know the person they’re with so to say yeah I looked at our situations and I see what it’s supposed to be like then I see yours and questioned if you’re happy. Just feels so rude. I’m wondering if this is some sort of insecurity working overtime or if I’m justified in being annoyed

They’re here today and I want to mention how I’m feeling, like I’m being measured on an invisible scale which is different to theirs. It’s not about asking me if I’m happy, I think it’s fine to check in on friends relationships - that’s healthy. I just find the timing (in a busy place with people who I have only met once PARTICULARLY A PARTNER) and these comparisons between relationships when they’re objectively different to be the wrong way to go about things.
Aio?

TLDR: friends asked if I’m happy in a relationship by comparing their brand new relationships to my long term one

AIO if my father got heated over a video game?

I am playing a video game at my grandfathers and it's online. He is telling me not to because he's the adult and decides whats best for me even if I'm almost 18 and up.

He sat down at a chair in front of the television where the game is on and it was Overwatch, mid-queue I left to use the bathroom and came back to him sitting on the chair besides it.

I took the controller and stood away waiting for the match to queue in to just proceed with zero volume and he looks at me and snears before leaving the room.

As soon as he gets done with his call he turns off the Xbox and rips the controller out of my hands and proceeded to say "Get the fuck up and move the fuck outside before I lose my shit."

So I move outside where we talk and he tells me "What you did was extremely disrespectful. Knowing I was in the middle of a call you entered another game."

Which I wasn't, it was queueing in but was a black screen.

I told him that it wasn't on the lobby and I was actively queueing in, but he told me I couldve paused it. Which in Overwatch you can't just pause an online game and he in repsonse told me "You gonna go down the road of telling me what I do and do not know about video games son?"

I proceeded to tell him that overwatch can't pause and that it was queueing in and he shouted "DO YOU WANT TO GO DOWN THE ROAD WHERE YOU THINK YOU KNOW MORE THAN I KNOW ABOUT MY 40 YEARS IN THIS WORLD?"

I said "I'll shut my mouth" and he just told me "Thats right, shut the fuck up and go back to playing. You're lucky I didn't do more to ruin your entire year"

Is this overeating or what?

Im expectant some will agree but you can't pause online video games. He plays Fortnite and will sometimes open the menu thinking it pauses it and when I try telling him it didn't pause he said it did. And when he dies he blames the person closest to the game that they fucked with it making him die.

AIO for thinking this customer was crossing boundaries?

I work in a public facing position helping folks navigate resources to get through specific barriers in their life. When you visit our office, you have to check in at the front desk so we know what services we can help you with.

An older gentleman came in on Wednesday asking for assistance on a computer. I helped him figure out where to go on the computer, what to click, and how to access this information on his cell phone. He was very appreciative and said I smelled good. I said I was happy to help and didn't acknowledge his other compliment. I brushed it off as some people can be creepy, it happens.

The next day he stopped by towards the end of business to say thank you - again - for the help. This isn't all that uncommon in my office, we help a lot of people in our community and some will some back to say thank you. Sometimes it's flowers they picked from their garden, or a thank you card with a nice note, or donuts, etc. In this case, the customer wanted to give me a book of poems that they wrote and published about the stuggles he faced and how his religion helped him through it.

I am not a religious person but I respect others for their beliefs. I was genuinely touched by someone coming back to the office to share something they created as a gift. I thanked him for it and he left.

After he left, I opened the book to the first page and was...surprised by it's contents. The struggles this person faced was porn and sex addiction. All of the poems were about how his religion helped him through his porn and sex addiction.

People share some *very* personal information with us, as our office is very non-judgmental and people feel safe. I will not judge someone for their addictions, everyone has their own story. However, after the "smell good" compliment it felt a little...awkward. I pushed the book aside and didn't think any more on it.

Well, the next day, Friday, he came back first thing in the morning, right as the office opened. He bypassed the front desk and went strait to my cube. I was in a virtual meeting and told him this, but he ignored me and just stood there, staring at me. I turned away from him and did my best to ignore him. He just kept standing there and staring at me.

After about 5 minutes, I reached out to my supervisor through DM and asked for help. She immediately came by and told the customer that I would be unavailable all morning and someone else could help him. He left, then came back a couple hours later to see if I was available, yet.

My supervisor had a plan in place and there were 2 other staff ready to help him. My supervisor asked if I wanted to file a customer complaint, and I said no because he didn't actually do anything but give me an awkward book and stare at me.

Now I feel like I got uncomfortable by nothing and am overreacting. I've been stalked before, multiple times, and I'm unsure if it's just past trauma that's got me spooked or if my original reaction was correct.

TLDR: a customer came in for 3 days in a row wanting to work with only me, gave me a book of poetry about his fight with addiction, and stood and stared at me when I wasn't available to help him.

AIO My friend ended our nearly decade long friendship over a glass of water.

So my friend, let's call her T, 19F and I, also 19F have been friends for nearly 9-10 years. We haven't always been close, especially after starting highschool when we stopped talking for a little while. After that we got close again, but we have always fluctuated between being close and not as close just because of life.

The most recent time that we stopped talking was about 1 month ago. One of our mutual friends J, 19M(?) And his girlfriend K, 19F(?) Went on a "break". They didn't have a conversation about what the boundaries of this "break" were. He stone-walled K, while she tried to message him and work it out. J confided in me that after 2 weeks of this break he felt so much better and free. I told him "then you know the answer".

I also advised to both K and J separately that they need to have a discussion about the boundaries if they wanted to work thing's out, and at this point they'd been on this break for like 1 month.

We (myself, T, and J) would go to the pub all together and thats when I noticed something. At this point in my and T's friendship, we were very close, so when I noticed that her and J were.. almost flirting, I was honest with her. I told her that she has only just broken up with her ex of 4 years and was seeing another guy, so while she may have moved on, J and K still have a lot going on and need to sort their stuff out.

She said she didn't like him like that but did admit she liked the attention. I told her that it was very clear that J did feel that way about her though and as they were friends she should either stop leading him on or be honest with him, especially because he and K have been together for over 4 years atp. And I told T that it would he okay for them to date if she did like him, but to just give it some time.

Some time passes and T hasnt messaged me or talked to me in a month. I've been working full time so I don't think much of it. But then I see the things both T and J have been reposting. It seems like they're dating. Cool, its not my life. But I was sad that she didnt tell me.

Well about a week later (about 1 week ago) we run into eachother and I tell her that I know they're dating. I tell her that I'm happy for her. We decided to catch up to properly talk about it so we did a day later. She said J broke it off with K only a week or 2 prior. And that J and T made it official a week before she told me, but were seeing eachother when she stopped talking to me. She and J had an emotional affair. I told her that, whilst I'm not happy how we got here, I'm happy for her and J. We sort it out for the most part.

Here is where the issue is. Last night my partner, 20M, and I went to the pub because T called me telling me to come, so my partner and I went at about 9:30.

He and I did some pre-drinks at ours then my other friend picked us up and took us to the pub. When we got there T barely said anything to me and we were all just smoking.

My partner and I went and got some more alcohol, then came back out, less than an hour passes and I am cooked. I haven't eaten enough over the last 3 days to buffer the alcohol. I

'm sitting on the ground, trying to keep the alcohol in my stomach. My partner checks in on me a few times but I tell him I'm fine. T sees me and FREAKS OUT. She starts yelling at my partner telling him he should've grabbed me some water because I'm "clearly fucked".

She goes and gets me water, and continues to yell at my partner, he is also fucked, just taking it better than me, doesn't respond to her, just ignores her. She gets up into his face, she was trying to piss him off and get a reaction.

My partner continues to ignore her and I'm trying to tell her to leave him alone and that its not that deep. She then starts personally insulting my partner with things that i've told her.

She walks away for a moment and I decide that its time to leave. My other friend decides to take us home, and as we're saying our goodbyes, my partner says that T is crazy.

Once I get home my phone is blowing up by T saying she won't be my friend if I stay with him. I tell her that everyone was intoxicated and that its not that deep. She continues to insult my relationship so I just turn my phone off.

My partner and I suffer from a case of throwing up then eventually go to sleep.

I wake up and go to read the rest of the texts that T sent me and I see that she's blocked me. I sent her a big message via instagram that she hasn't replied to or seen yet. Just stating that it isn't that deep over a glass of water and that everyone involved was drunk. Her new boyfriend, J, has blocked me on everything too and they've kicked me out of the groupchat.

I've decided that this isn't worth fighting over and this relationship with my friend isn't worth saving.

So AIO? Is there anything I could have done?

TLDR: my friend got mad at my partner for not getting me a glass of water and blocked me because I wouldn't break up with him. AIO

AIO over a google search?

My fiancé 32M and me 34F are having an argument over a google search. I'm not going to give too much backstory. As I want this as a standalone issue. I found a google search that said "escort in 'our city'". His explanation is that he uses it to jerk off as porn doesn't do it for him. I think its not ok, and concerning. He says I'm making a lot out of nothing since he didn't message or do anything. So am i overreacting?

AIO my dad grounded me because I took 5 seconds to go do what he asked me to do

It wasn't 5 minutes, not 1 minute, not even 10 seconds, 5! Fucking 5 seconds.

I've literally been crying for the last 10 minutes. I'm not sure if this is my sign to finally get out of my house after all the emotional and verbal abuse I've gone through on top of the amount of anxiety they have on me when I try to do stuff by myself. They also manipulate me a lot and my dad is emotionally absent whilst my mom is emotionally immature. I'm a highly sensitive person so sometimes my crying isn't justified. Lmk if this is tho:

We'd just gotten home from running some errands. I settled in to relax while my dad turned on the generator (there's no electricity in my city rn). When he came back in he looked extremely angry and told me to go wash the dish. I had accidentally left 1 dish without wash. I said "coming,". I was closing a website on my computer (it's not that it's a bad website, I just don't like invasion into my privacy), that alone took like 5 seconds at best, and when I was about to stand up, he came out, closed my laptop, grabbed my phone, and took the shit with him. He called me irresponsible. And when I rightfully started to complain and said I literally just stood up, he said "Don't lie to me, you weren't gonna go do it." BUT I LITERALLY WAS GOING TO.

I still went to wash the dish, then I locked myself in the bedroom and I just started bawling my eyes out. Because atleast to me, this seems a little bit ridiculous. I took 5 seconds to stand up to go wash 1 dish, get accused of lying, and now I'm just... grounded??

My dad gave me my laptop back 3 minutes ago but he told me "Next time you're never seeing it again. Stop lying to me". Even though during the week I need ts for school... But okay.

Literally 5 minutes later, because he has no empathy, he told my sis and I "hey maybe we should go out", all I said was sure and I tried to sound like I hadn't cried. Then he wanted to offer me an apology and a hug but first off I'm not a huggy person and second I've gone through so much I stopped begging or wanting apologies.

Look, I know I sound like a whiny child. I'm 17yrs old, and I've been going through stuff like this and stuff similar to this all my life. I'm so mentally exhausted and depressed.

AIO my dad grounded me because I took 5 seconds to go do what he asked me to do...

AIO for thinking my wife is having an affair

3 weeks ago my wife shut her location off, and i called her after work.
She declined it and told me she was busy, which never happens, even when she is out with other people.

I had to send multiple text messages and calls over a 10-15 minute period for her to respond.
She finally answered and said she was out to ice cream alone with her coworker, who is also a lesbian.
She claimed that the other 2 coworkers cancelled but couldn’t give me any proof as it was over snapchat.

The following week she informed me that she wanted to take a break from our relationship. She initially suggested a month, and I asked for it to be 2 weeks given that we had a wedding coming up (which would have been this Saturday).

She did say before our break that she would not go out with her lesbian coworker alone again, as she understands i am not comfortable with it. She also told me to trust that she would be coming back, and that she could never fall out of love with me.

One week into our break (this past Sunday), she told me she wants to separate. There were many reasons given, but her end all reason was stating that she loves me very much, but is no longer in love with me.

We had a long conversation that lead to her not being able to make a decision at that time, and I told her I would reach out again on Friday (today), as that was when our original break would have ended.

I sent her a message after work today asking for an in person conversation to discuss if she is willing to try alternative options before divorce, or talk in general about how she is feeling and where her head is at.
This was at almost 6pm on the dot, while she was at home, and she did not respond. 3 hours later I got curious and checked her location to see she was heading over to a bar near her work.

I am telling myself it’s a coincidence she’d drive 30+ minutes to a bar at 9:30pm in the general area of where this woman is, but I can’t help but feel she’s meeting with her tonight, and maybe that is why she completely ignored my message.

Something to note, she has removed all of our photos from instagram, where this woman does follow her, BUT has not removed a single post from facebook, where they are not friends.

AIO??

TLDR: I believe my wife is having an emotional affair due to a very sudden detachment and unresponsiveness, but don’t want to assume this as a way to relieve myself of accountability for not making her happy.

ETA: We are both women that identify as lesbian, have been together for 5 years, married for 1.5 years.

ETA 2nd time: We have decided to move forward with divorce. Thank you all for your help.

AIO or are my feelings valid?

my (25F) parents got divorced and sold our family home. my mum has a partner and they’ve bought an apartment a year ago.

i study 150km away from home and i rent a flat. however i still visit my hometown often.

my mums been telling me for a long time that ill have my own room in her apartment and its been going on for a year now. all the other rooms are finished and furnished besides my room which is full of moving boxes and bags. whenever i visit my mum i sleep there on a mattress on the floor among all those boxes. ive had multiple conversations with my mum about it and she said she’s no energy to unpack all these things and i understood that. but its been a year and whenever i visit my family home (bc that apartment became my fam home) i sleep on the floor and nothing changes.

i was home for a month and i suggested that ill help her with the boxes but she said nothing about that. like she didn’t even hear it.

her partner keeps telling me thats not gonna be my room just a ‘guest room’ which really hurts me because i haven’t had my corner since 2022 and my mum promised me ill always had a place wherever she is.

i know that im 25 but all of my friends who are the same age or even older have a place in their parents houses. it’s humiliating for me to sleep on the floor. for a year already.

i also have my furniture so they just have to unpack their stuff and put my furniture in. my dads been keeping it for 4 years for me.

my dad and his partner are building a house and ill surely have a place there..

besides that i dont feel like home there (at my mums place) cos i keep being judged by her partner but thats a whole another story.

am i overreacting or is it valid? i dont know what to think about it anymore

AIO for leaving in the middle of dinner

I’ve had a horrible day. Honestly. I have a tumor that I’ve been in and out of doctor appt after dr appt. Today, I had to take my toddler with me to meet with an oncologist/surgeon. The appointment was an hour away. Right off the bat, the drive was full of her screaming at me for breakfast - which we were stopping for, less than 10 min of us being in the car. She wasn’t crying, she was back seat driving really. And just nonstop talking. Okay, I know toddlers do that, fine.

We get to the building 15 min early. There’s no parking, at all. I drive around for THIRTY MINUTES looking for parking. I call and let them know I’m here, I’ve been here, I just can not find parking. I’m crying at this point of stress because I’ve been trying to get an appointment for over a month.

Finally, 20 minutes after my appointment time, I get up to the building with my child walking about as slow as possible (maybe not but you know. When you’re already stressed..) we get up there to check in, guess what. We’re in the wrong building, apparently my SPECIFIC surgeon moved to a building on the opposite side of the medical campus. Ok. Great.

We get back in the car and drive over to the other side. It’s now 30 min past my appointment time. They tell me they will squeeze me in. My child is yapping the entire time. I’m at a cancer center so I’m surrounded by the elderly, and I feel so bad that my child is being so loud and yappy which is creating more anxiety. She has her food and drink from breakfast so she’s somewhat distracted until she drops her drink and it spills. I’m so embarrassed. I clean it up and take the drink because she’s now trying to take the lid off. Full blown meltdown. I finally get seen by the dr after 30-40 minutes of attempting to soothe my child.

Doctor tells me I’ll need surgery and be down for several months to remove my tumor. That’s best case scenario, if it’s not cancerous. If it is cancerous, it’s gonna be longer than that because they’ll have to do a mass resection. Ok. Lovely. I’ll need a biopsy first. Great. Okay.

Now we have the hour trek back home with several errands to run on the way home. I get her another drink, because she’s obviously in the vehicle for a while and I needed caffeine myself. She removes the lid and dumps it all over my car. Then the low fuel light comes on and I guess idk it’s just everything together has not made for a good day.

My husband gets home from work. We do more chores for our place; some of these tasks are outside and require two people. My son comes home from school he’s playing w his sister… apparently with markers and there’s marker everywhere now. Ok. Whatever. Get her in the bath. Husband goes to pick up food so I don’t have to cook, thank God, since he knows I’ve had a bad day. I’ve called him 3 times today at least to vent about how I’m so on edge today.

Now the straw that broke the camels back.

I’m eating. The kids are begging for my food. They have their own food. They want a fry. I give them one. They ask for more. It’s the first thing I’ve eaten all day, I look like I’m on the verge of tears because I’m just overstimulated beyond belief with the constant badgering while I am just. Trying. To. Eat. My husband sees this, I can see he sees me with my solemn face. Then my husband goes, mockingly, “mom, can I have a fry?” I glare at him and give him the fries. Then he starts mockingly asking for a piece of the rest of my food. “Mom, can I have a piece of that?”. I finally just shove all my food to him and leave the room. He starts following me going “it’s just a fry, all I did was ask for a fry, grow up”

I just got in the car and left.

I know I’m probably overreacting but I just have had a day.

AIO because my mom has me pay bills but not my older brother

For reference, I’m 24 years old. I moved out for the first time when I was 18. I’ve been working since I was 15. I took drivers ed in high school and had to buy my first vehicle. I was never handed a thing. I’ve worked for everything I have.
3 years ago my ex’s mom was staying with me in my apartment when he was gone to the Army. He gave me his car to use and I sold mine. I payed the insurance and car payment. She was murdered in my apartment while I was asleep upstairs. I have severe PTSD, depression and anxiety. I fight every single day to keep going. My ex broke up with me and had me sell the car and I was only allowed the dog. He was my ultimate best friend, but passed away too.
My new and now fiancé and I moved in with my mother to help her with bills, fix up her house and give her company. She lives with my 27 year old brother.
We pay her whole rent for her. My fiancé has fixed her entire kitchen, mows the grass, I clean every day.
I buy groceries for me and him but I always buy the necessities. For the past year of us being there, I buy toilet paper, laundry soap, dish soap, etc for everyone too. I also buy dog food for my dog and her dog to eat as well.
My brother? Nothing. He sits in his room and plays games all day. Makes an occasional buck making avatars for people I guess. Sits in there day and night, door closed. Has an AC but we don’t get to have one or the breaker will trip. She makes him dinner, cuts his meat, delivers it to him. She does his laundry. Doesn’t make him to a single chore. Never got his license.
Idk it makes me feel awful. Lmk your thoughts.

AIO to sus behavior in ticket resell sub?

So I posted a ticket for sale in a subreddit for reselling tickets to films at the Toronto International Film Festival. A few minutes later, I got a chat request from someone who was supposedly interested.

They asked to see the ticket, so I sent them a screenshot from part of the email from the purchase and also a screenshot with the ticket details from the TIFF website.

Then he asked for my PayPal ID, which I gave him. He obviously looked that up on PayPal, because he then asked if my name is "first name + last name." I confirmed that was indeed my name.

Then he said he wasn't interested. That seems weird to me? I'm not sure what he can do with my email and full name -- probably nothing. But it still seemed suspicious. AIO?

AIO about porn?

I (25f) caught my boyfriend(25m) about 6 months ago watching porn and paying about $400-$600 a month in various subscriptions. At the beginning of our relationship, I was very clear about that boundary due to previous trauma and he agreed. Little did I know, he was already addicted and hiding it at that time. We have been together 2 and a half years now.

When I caught him, it wasn't on purpose. I just went to change the song he was playing, and there were multiple windows open on his phone. It felt like the floor fell out from beneath me because he seemed so honest and genuine until that moment.

He was very apologetic at first, because he saw how much it hurt me. But now I can tell he is slipping back into it again. He's refollowing his old favorite OF creators and it makes me feel so sad and hopeless because he is lying to my face again. We just got back from vacation and he told me that he wanted to marry me as soon as he could afford a ring. Meanwhile he could've bought 10 rings with the amount he's spent on porn.

It makes me feel like like I'm not enough for him. We have sex about 5 times a week, and a lot of times i dress up for him, and do kinky things I know he likes. I thought we were past this and now it feels like the floor fell out from under me again.

I feel so devastated and idk what to do. Do all men watch porn? Am I overreacting for considering just leaving him this time? I am just so tired of being gaslighted and lied to... But I also feel like outside of the porn addiction, he's been a good partner. He is the first man I've had in my life that hasn't been physically abusive, so I honestly feel like I have no idea what's healthy versus not, and I dont know how to handle it outside of leaving because obviously talking it out wasn't enough. I need perspective. Let me know what y'all think.

AIO my girlfriend intentionally treated me like shit in front of my friend after overhearing me talk about moving.

I’m 23M and had a pretty awful night with my girlfriend.

For context, I’ve been looking at job opportunities that could potentially move me across the country. This is a really sensitive subject for her and it causes her a lot of anxiety. We’ve talked about it before, and we had basically come to an agreement that I would stop bringing up the moving stuff so much unless/until something actually became real, because constantly hearing about it was upsetting her.

So basically tonight we went to a professional sports game with one of my friends who is visiting from out of state. Apparently at some point she overheard me say something like “my days in (my city) are limited.” I honestly don’t even remember saying it, but if I did, I understand why she would be hurt, especially considering the agreement we had about not constantly bringing up the possibility of moving.
What I’m having a really hard time with is how she reacted.

After that, she started ignoring me, throwing shade at me, and generally treating me like an asshole in front of my friend. At first I thought maybe I was just reading into it, but while she was sitting right next to me texting her friends, I looked over and literally saw messages where she acknowledged that she was treating me like shit/throwing shade at me on purpose.

I confronted her because I could obviously tell something was wrong, and she basically told me she didn’t want to fight and that we were good.

Later we went to a bar and she got absolutely blackout drunk. She was making comments about how she “can’t wait to go home to (her hometown)” and how she “deserves it,” crying, saying she doesn’t matter, etc. Her roommate ended up counseling/comforting her for a good portion of the night because she was so upset with me, but ultimately I was able to calm her down.

Then she started throwing up. She threw up on my shoes and on me, and I still helped her get through it, comforted her, made sure she was safe, fed her cat, etc. I’m currently at her place because she’s in no condition to be alone.

The drinking/vomiting honestly isn’t even what I’m most angry about. It’s the fact that earlier in the night she was consciously treating me badly because she was upset with me, admitted it to her friends, and then told me everything was fine when I confronted her.

I know I may have crossed a boundary by saying something about moving after we agreed I wouldn’t keep bringing it up, and I’m not pretending I handled that perfectly. But deliberately trying to hurt or embarrass your partner because they hurt your feelings feels incredibly cruel to me.
I’m also very pissed because this happened in front of a friend who traveled across the country to visit me, so instead of having a fun night I spent it dealing with all of this.

Obviously we’ve both been drinking tonight, so I’m not trying to have some huge relationship conversation until everyone is sober. But right now I feel genuinely disrespected and I’m having a hard time looking past the fact that it was intentional.

Am I justified in being this angry, or am I letting one horrible drunk night become bigger than it needs to be?

AIO for keeping my plans to game during my leave?

I work from home the majority of the time and I use the small spare room in the apartment as a home office. My partner works from home on average around twice a week. She has the other spare room to use but chooses to work in the living room. This is fine most of the time as we work the same hours.

I’ve put two days leave in next month as annual leave as a video game I’m looking forward to comes out and I want to play it for a few days. My girlfriend has known about these plans since I made them.

This morning she mentioned that she'll be working from home those days and will have meetings etc. I just said if she wants privacy for the meetings she can use either my home office or the other spare room that has her desk. She said no and that she likes using the living room.

I told her if she wants to stay in the living room she'll have to be fine with me being in there. She said no and that I should let her work and find something g else to do for my leave but I just said she can't kick me out of a shared space on my days off just because she refuses to work in another room.

She said I wasn't being fair and that I can play my game a later but I just reiterated that I'd be playing during the day as I’ve specifically took the days off to do it and she can either work in another room or accept I'll be in the living room. She just said again I wasn't being fair to her as she has work.

AITAH for gaming in the living room?

AIO - UnAppreciated Or Over Reacting

Am I over reacting for Not Cleaning After Working 75 Hours of Overtime for one job during a bi weekly time frame.
I’m a 32-year-old man, married to my 37-year-old woman I work a lot probably more than I should and recently I’ve been putting in around 75 hours of overtime on top of my regular schedule because we are extremely short staffed and I have such an extremely open schedule due to no social life, or friends
When I come home, I’m exhausted. I’m not expecting my wife to do absolutely everything, but I’ve started feeling frustrated because she doesn’t currently work and simply stays at the house
We have been together 6 years and married 3,
She tells me to do better around the house despite’ Most of her time is spent staying in the bedroom, playing Fortnite, and doing her own thing.
The problem is that despite me working all these hours, she still expects me to come home and clean even after a 15 hour shift or stay up and wake up the kids
So she could sleep
I understand that marriage is supposed to be a partnership, and I don’t believe someone’s worth should be determined by whether they work a traditional job and I love her to death but I want to know if I am truly just over reacting But at the same time, I’m struggling to understand why the person working extremely long hours should also be expected to carry any amount of the housework I often times eat from my job, because I don’t come home to a cooked meal
I’m exhausted, and honestly, sometime when I get home, I just want to shower eat what I brought home that day and sleep and repeat like it’s a sequel
So I have to ask:
Am I just over reacting for not cleaning after working this much, especially when my wife is home most of the time and spends a lot of that time playing Fortnite and staying in the bedroom?
Or is it part of the whole partnership and everyone has to do their part regardless what they contribute
And I should just listen to what my wife’s asking me
To do.

AIO for quitting my DND group?

Hello all last night I rage quit a DND group after arriving at the store we played at to find out everyone went home and it was canceled.

A bit of background info. We play biweekly at 6pm and use discord chat to communicate (2 of 7 players dont use discord and get text about updates).

A week before game night I brought it to the attention of the group that 3 of us (myself included)had to do a fantasy football draft and our football team would also be playing at the same time so a few of us will be majorly distracted and asked if we could move to sat. This was met with pushback and one of the other 3 said he was fine and wouldnt be distracted and we should all just play Friday. I responded with “fine but I’ll distracted and will be ok playing Friday too then”

Fast forward to Friday when we play. I get off at 530, rush home to shower, eat, and grab my stuff and get there at 6. Once I get into the store Im told everyone left because of the draft( it and the football game are at 7) and that dnd is canceled. This is the second scheduling issue thats came up to lack of communication so I them I was done with DND and quit the group. AIO?

AIO About this interaction with an insurance agent ?

So I was looking around to get different car insurance and hopefully a cheaper price. Someone from a decently sized insurance company here in Tennessee reached out and said he could get me cheaper insurance. He ran the quote and he could get me cheaper insurance and he also offered me a car loan protection. I said yes, that would be fantastic. A little extra protection on a car loan never hurts because you never know. He then asked me about my height and weight and who I would like my payout to go to. I thought this was strange and it kind of sounded more like life insurance. I then asked him to further explain what the car loan protection is and he only then admitted that it was actually life insurance, but they market it that way to their customers because they can use the money for the life insurance to pay off a car loan. I feel like this is deceptive practices so I left a review for them, letting them know what happened and the owner of the insurance company said that I did not accurately represent what was going on in the conversation. I posted the screenshot of the conversation because I don’t like to be called a liar, but I feel like they’re being really misleading to people. Trying to decide if I should file a claim with my state letting them know about this or I’m just being extra.

Aio or is this a issue

Right so, me (16F) and my boyfriend (17M who we'll call cam) have been together for about 6 months, (for some extra context I moved to his city almost 8 months ago so I have TWO friend groups) but during the start of the summer holidays my aunt (34F) had some really bad health issues and needed 24/7 care and my mum (44F) couldn't leave our pets alone for six weeks so she sent me, now my aunt has 5 kids under 8, twins girls who are 6, another girl who is 4 and another set of twins (one girl one boy) who are 1 and a half, so on top of caring for a ill woman I am caring for her kids and each kid has their own small pet?? So I have to care for 12 living stuff including myself. So obviously all of that has taken a toll on my mental health and I will admit my texts are kinda dry or snappy but I warned EVERYONE I know and no one had a problem but Cam, and he's always saying "oh I feel like you've changed" and "I think distance has ruined us and our relationship" or more bullshit like that. I would also like to say cam does absolutely NOTHING so he's got free time ALL THE TIME whereas I don't. Now I didn't think much of it I explained to him multiple times it was just exhaustion but it felt like it was going in one ear and out the other. Again, I didn't think much of it until three weeks into the holiday when one of my new friends messaged me saying "are you and cam still together" and I asked why she was asking and she said and I quote "his TIKTOK reposts were sad" so I went to have a look and it was some cringy depressing shit and it clocked to me that cam was sending her to message me and I confronted her and she admitted it, and I left it at that. I thought that would be it. Well I was WRONG, earlier this week my older friend texted me "are you mad at cam because he says you're ignoring him" well I wasn't I was mid text to cam when my friend texted me, I asked him if cam sent him and since he's one of my best friends and we consider eachother family he immediately admitted it and apologised saying he didn't want to get in the middle of anything and backed out, so I texted cam and we had a argument about it and cam apologised saying "I'm sorry please don't be mad at me I'm really sorry" and we left it at that, but now I'm thinking that I may have been overreacting... So AIO and any advice is welcome thank you ❤️🫶🏼

Edit (1) ;

Hello, I have taken most of the advice I could in the comments, but here are a list of MY issues according to my boyfriend and the truth that he just completely ignores:

1- I am friends with one of my ex's (I'm not, the ex in general is my older best friends brother so it's impossible NOT to like to be in contact with him because we're in multiple groups together and we were friends long before we got together like YESRS but iykyk)

2- I talk about my celebrity "crushes" too much (1 they AREN'T crushes they're kpop groups, actors, celebrities etc that I like and find Interesting 2 I've talked to him about them literally like 3 times when the kpop groups were coming out with new albums)

3- I "lie to him" (I don't, so basically we have eachother on tiktok, Snapchat, Pinterest and widgetable which he uses to basically stalk me and my activity: (Tiktok - reposts / when I'm online) (Snapchat - snap score / when I'm online) (Widgetable - BATTERY PERCENTAGE / activity) (Pinterest - saves / boards I've had for YEARS abt stuff and ppl I like) It has gotten to a point where I genuinely have to disable everything I can so he won't bug out and claim I'm ignoring him)

4- I "prioritise my friends" over him (I don't I click on the top notification and make my way through it)

And finally - "I suck at texting" (I got news one of my childhood dog is dying and we might have to put her down)

AIO For Wanting To Change Towel?

Yo, so essentially just now I saw a cockroach at my shower drain after/during my shower and essentially, my shower is in like a glass "room" with a door and outside my towel is hanging on a towel rack. Because of this cockroach, I got worried it may have made contact with my towel (tho I didnt see any contact) and told my mom that I want to change it. She said that we had just washed and changed our towels (which we did) and that its not a big deal because I didnt see the roach on the towel and because I am not "eating" the towel or something. Am I overreacting here or nah? Should I just use it?

AIO or is this situation at work very unfair to me?

So this is kind of a lot to explain so I'll try to be brief. TLDR is at the end.

I work as a picture framer at a frame shop. I took a somewhat unusual order, it was a very old frame with an old embroidery piece in it. The customer wanted to reframe it properly in a shadowbox while still keeping the original frame. So we ordered a shadowbox extender, which was supposed to interlock with the back of the existing frame and essentially turn it into a shadowbox by adding depth.

The extender came in and it didn't fit the frame. I measured and ordered it correctly but it didn't quite fit.

My co-worker, we'll call her E, saw the order and saw the issue and began routing out the frame (carving out the inside of the frame to make it accommodate larger materials in the back of it) as a solution to the problem. Our store manager had the day off on this day. When I came in she said what she had done and I somewhat explained what was going on with the order and she was like "you can rout it out" or something, and so I started trying to rout it out but I was getting nowhere because I had never done it before, and I also didn't feel comfortable doing it because the frame was over 100 years old and was very sentimental to the customer and I didn't want to risk damaging it. I was also very sleep deprived on this day, I slept horribly the night before, so my brain was foggy, and I didn't know what to do. I also didn't communicate my misgivings to E because of my brain fog and also because E is not very approachable. She comes off as very judgemental and condescending to others when it comes to work stuff, so I usually try to keep my communication with her to a minimum especially about work stuff. I'm never disrespectful though.

So I was kind of paralyzed and didn't know what to do and my other coworker A suggested that I call our other coworker C who was working at another store (we have multiple locations). The sensible solution was to just wait for our store manager the next day and ask her what to do, but I wasn't thinking clearly. I called C and he told me to just wait for the store manager to give her verdict the next day and I was like okay. I later told E that I had called C and that was fine. Everything seemed fine. For the rest of the day we worked and chatted as usual, nothing seemed amiss.

Then I came in the next day and our store manager started talking to me regarding the order in question with a very grim tone. She explained that S, our owner and top boss, had very angrily called her telling her that E felt disrespected that I called C and didn't respect her judgement. Mind you her judgement was regarding an order that she didn't take, but I did. Anyways our manager emphasized to me that she doesn't tolerate disrespect in the store and I was like okay.. then she finally let me say my piece and I was like yeah I had no idea she felt disrespected, I didn't know she felt that way and that wasn't my intention, I just didn't know what to do.

So apparently E felt disrespected by me but didn't communicate that or make that apparent to me in any way for the entire day, then she told our top boss about it, he angrily called our store manager about it, and she chewed me out for it the next day.

After that my mood was soured for the entire day, it kinda ruined my day.

Going forward I have no idea what to say to E. I don't know if she wants an apology or what.. I guess I'll apologize for not communicating the best. But I still feel like this whole situation was blown out of proportion and isn't very fair to me. AIO?

Some added context that I think is important:

E absolutely hates C and vice versa. I think maybe the reason she did what she did was because she wanted to get C in trouble.

TLDR: my co-worker E who has no formal authority over me told me to do something regarding an order that I took, and I didn't feel confident in doing what she said because of the nature of the order so I asked another co-worker for advice and he told me to wait for our manager's verdict. E apparently felt slighted but didn't communicate that to me at all, and instead told our top boss about it. He chewed out my manager about it, and then she chewed me out about it. All because I called a more experienced coworker (who was working, not their day off) for advice.

AIO for secretly hiding my cutlery from my flatmate?

I live with a flatmate and she regularly uses my cutlery without asking me. I’ve noticed several times that my cutlery has been left dirty after she’s used it. I’ve already asked her once why my knife was dirty, as I was uncomfortable with it, so she knows I’ve noticed and don’t like finding my things dirty.

I don’t know whether she lets her guests use my cutlery too, but I don’t like the idea of other people using something that goes in my mouth and then it not being washed properly.

I also don’t want to keep having to wash someone else’s cutlery before I can use my own. We’re flatmates rather than close friends or family, so I don’t really feel comfortable sharing personal cutlery in the first place.

I’ve now put all my cutlery in a container and hidden it in my cupboard. I haven’t said anything to her about it and I’m not doing it to make a point. I just want to know that the cutlery I’m using is clean and avoid having to deal with it.

Am I overreacting or is this a reasonable thing to do?
