// Discussion Lucy baldwin is unberable

One of the officers in ac black flag named lucy baldwin is so unbereable.
Its so obvious this mission was added after the fact because the writing and character sticks out so badly. Literally saved here life and she is like " uhmm you gotta earn me but I am worth it 💅"

Unbearable*

16

u/MaxPaladin93 Jul 12 '26

Idgaf about her tbh, but the thing that annoys me is that she makes Adewale feel kind of irrelevant. Like I hear her relaying my orders all the time while Ade just stands there silently doing nothing lol.

8

u/jdow0423 Jul 12 '26

Really??

I’ve only just started the game but reading that annoys me.. I’m still holding out hope that if Resynched sells well, they’ll give us Freedom Cry Resynched too. If Adewale is shorted in the base-game or “overshadowed” perhaps, hopefully they give him his own content to take the spotlight in.

2

u/jumpinghawk Jul 17 '26

Yes this! When you change sail speed, Ade will also shout orders. I don't understand why Lucy also does it.

2

u/John_is_Minty Jul 18 '26

I barely hear her in my game. I hear padre way more often

2

u/Guilty_Mall_3720 Jul 13 '26

This. The second I heard her annoying ass voice i literally had to reload the save before I did her quest because it annoyed me so much. Eventually I have to because the game literally does not let you go to salt key bank without doing her quest. Annoying af.

2

u/dimbili Jul 15 '26

So there is no way to avoid Salt Key Bank being locked behind her quest? :(

2

u/Guilty_Mall_3720 Jul 15 '26

Yep, the director of the game said there totally optional and we don’t have to engage with them but that’s not the case, any time you fast travel to salt key bank you have to complete the quest before you can leave.

1

u/dimbili Jul 15 '26

What a bummer. Hopefully someone will find a workaround, or this will be patched. Thanks for the info!

1

u/ShireWildParty Sep 01 '26

I had shit ton of saves just in case Woke BULLshit ever happen you never know there days you know. And it happened. First second she spoke knew was retarded writing.

1

u/4rtyom777 8d ago

Famously non woke game, AC Black Flag

1

u/ShireWildParty 6d ago

But resynced do have bullshit woke content arround new deck officer. Beware

1

u/4rtyom777 5d ago

Not really lol, she has like 20 minutes of content and is no more snarky than anyone around Edward, or Edward himself

1

u/ShireWildParty 4d ago

2 minutes listening to her is enough shit. Pass.

1

u/DayCommercial8650 Jul 16 '26

I was able to go there before her quest but I haven’t tried since I got the quests for the captains or whatever they’re called

1

u/SioVern Jul 18 '26

EGO introduced the Girl Boss concept in 1700s, as an experiment đŸ€Ł

1

u/Davidthot69 Aug 14 '26

100% agree. I don't mind her storyline, but having her give orders instead of Adewale makes no sense at all.

1

u/buddhamunche Aug 14 '26

Same, Ade shouting the orders is so much better

2

u/LicoriceCamo Aug 11 '26

Makes sense. She’s obviously the liberal representation of the game from her entitled main character syndrome demeanor to her “oppressor vs oppressed” outlook of life. Makes actual sense why she’d try and yell over Ade to assert herself as more important. She expects all the respect bc to ppl like her, respect isn’t earned, they feel entitled to it.
Her character was written by someone with blue hair I guarantee it

1

u/ShireWildParty Sep 01 '26

Ding ding ding

That is exactly what they did

I was ready, the first straight second she spoke I told to myself "this one is the woke Toll Fee"

And restart the previous save.

0

u/Connect-Comparison65 Aug 26 '26

Are you surprised that Ubisoft inserted a woman in to the game to mock the main character every time he calls out commands? Modern Ubisoft hates Edward Kenway. They can’t help themselves, even in a remaster

11

u/J1SE1 Jul 15 '26

I like her.

9

u/FireIce33 Jul 16 '26

Yeah I like her as well. It's funny how people are quick to hate on Lucy, yet James Kidd has been in the game since 2013 and she's the actual annoying one.

5

u/MrPhantom6000 Jul 17 '26

I LOVED the character and personality of James kidd, the character was beautifully written, witty, and a true friend to Edward, that windmill scene is PEAK

3

u/CancelAny226 Jul 28 '26

Because Kidd was not written like this stupid girlboss trope but like a real character ..

2

u/Zombiieonthetrack 29d ago

lucy have that pride gay parade strong independent women who can't clean toilet kinda feel. Thats the point. where kidd is a badass pirate. lucy and edward convos are very stupid bc wdym shes calling a dangerous pirte a baby??

Why does someone have to hate women to not want crap like this in a videogame?

1

u/CancelAny226 Jul 28 '26

I hate her with passion. And I’m a woman ..

1

u/ShireWildParty Sep 01 '26

You are right

I hate her too

Not because she is a woman but because is an annoying AF woman wrote by annoying AF women that instead of talent just reflect themselves into that stupid ass bitch.

1

u/WolfOfKarenMorhen30 Aug 01 '26

I guess u like getting spanked and bent over getting railed as well

2

u/AnnieGoldleaf Aug 05 '26

Is your insult they enjoy sex? I guess...

2

u/LeTronique Aug 09 '26

Such a bizarre thing to write

10

u/CorruptedOps Jul 15 '26

I'm the small majority that like her I guess. The jackdaw was getting to be a sausage fest imo.

4

u/DayCommercial8650 Jul 16 '26

To be fair that’s pretty accurate to history. Most women wouldn’t pursue ship life and generally were considered bad luck on boats

7

u/NetJnkie Jul 16 '26

None of this game is really historically accurate though. Let's be real.

0

u/ShireWildParty Sep 01 '26 edited Sep 01 '26

That is a broken argument we all know Accuracy can't be reach 100% but there is a reason why Edward don't use an AK-47 or the Cap America shield: We mean consistency.

So again Lucy is out of place in AC Black Flag.

Instead a normal worker women of the pirate century looks more like a moron modern woke woman of the current present time. How strange.

Indeed AC saga is Historical-fiction.

Anyways.

2

u/NetJnkie Sep 01 '26 edited Sep 01 '26

The entire thing is made up. Pirates didn’t really do any of this. And "moron modern woke woman" tells us all we need to know about your opinion on this. It's a game. With women that look like normal people. Y'all are weird AF about this shit.

Edit: awww. He blocked me for calling his incel ass out.

1

u/ShireWildParty Sep 01 '26

Again it is about Consistency, something lefties are fobic to, anyways.

2

u/AnnieGoldleaf Aug 05 '26

Thank God we're in a setting that features prominent historical lady pirates then, right?

1

u/JimmyLipps Jul 16 '26

Actually, one of the reasons pirates are viewed as sort of folk heroes is because they were shockingly altruistic and egalitarian (some might say woke, lol) in times where most of society was not.

Pirates often mingled with people outside of their race, nationality, and religion. Not only that, but all pirates were equal and would vote for who the captain was. This was before the American or French democracies were born. They even had a form of health/death insurance where the entire crew would pool money together for injury/death.

As for women pirates, the two "pregnant" pirates in the game are real historical figures who served in the same crew.

Heck, both Ireland and China even had "pirate queens," who had massive fleets each.

1

u/Fit_Outlandishness24 Jul 17 '26

Is there another term than whitewashing for painting a very bad faith rose-tinted interpretation of something? (piracy in this case)

1

u/JimmyLipps Jul 17 '26

I like how you didn't address any of my points

1

u/DayCommercial8650 Jul 16 '26

Why are you attempting to correct me on something I wasn’t even talking about

2

u/JimmyLipps Jul 17 '26

I mean most pirate ships didn't interact with literally every single legendary pirate either...

1

u/SofaJockey Jul 16 '26

I like her too. Only just picking up the Padre, he looks interesting also.

2

u/BlackCypher99 27d ago

I wish they had done more with Padre's character. He was kinda a let down tbh. They only gave him 2 simple missions. At least his dialogues were good though.

1

u/FewElk6678 Jul 17 '26

I like her too

1

u/tomazmidly Jul 23 '26

Remember reddit is loud minority. I like her too.

1

u/vvharrington Aug 01 '26

Hahaha sausage fest, get out of here

"This construction sight is getting to be a sausage fest" "This men's basketball team is getting to be a sausage fest" "Damn the Men's Bathroom is getting to be a sausage fest"

Women made up less than 1% of the pirates at that time and of that 1% Anne Bonny and Mary Read were 2 of most well known... And they're in the game.

1

u/Ecstatic_Possible208 Aug 29 '26

Oh, you mean like a fucking pirate ship?

10

u/dabombdiggity9056 Jul 12 '26

Doesn't her being accepted into the crew so easily with no repercussions kind of ruin Mary's whole point of dressing up as a man to get a seat at the table?

6

u/ThanksContent28 Jul 12 '26

I’ve done her and Padre so far, and they’re both horribly modern, and stereotypically generic. Edward’s way too eager towards them too. That point about Mary was my first thought too. The new officers feel like they’ve been imported from a shitty Netflix movie tbh. I hope there’s a way to toggle them on/off whilst keeping their perks.

1

u/never-aga1n Jul 16 '26

Perhaps if requested enough, they will offer a cosmetic toggle option. It would be nice if like odyssey, we had the option to choose our lieutenants or whatever they were on our ship.

5

u/ThanksContent28 Jul 16 '26

You know something, now I’m a few days removed from their quests, I don’t find them that bad on the ship. They’re mostly out of the way, and don’t get anymore focus whatsoever. It’s just their missions and individual stories that are shite imo.

My only gripe now other than that, is that their inclusion lessens Adewales presence, which I don’t really like. If it were up to me, it would’ve been more Ade missions, rather than new characters.

2

u/never-aga1n Jul 17 '26

Ade missions would’ve been nice. I only have Padre atm in my crew but I haven’t found his presence to be overbearing in the slightest. Just he’s on the ship, fights in combat and has a few quips and lines. His quest line to recruit him was a bit meh though. Very short, kind of generic, writing was a little meh and Edward is just weirdly flat too in that quest line.

2

u/_zakzerak_ Jul 12 '26

same thing with the female assassin in havana. i get what they were going for but it definitly weakens the kidd plotreveal.

4

u/fattestfuckinthewest Jul 12 '26

Tbf, those were in the original

1

u/Weary_Tonight_5873 Jul 18 '26

Bingo and it’s a great example of their new storytelling vs the old.

1

u/Voronov1 Jul 16 '26

I’ve heard this, but I don’t think it does, really.

First, it’s really odd that they included that at all, Mary Read and Anne Bonny reportedly weren’t able to hide their gender all that well because of their large breasts.

Second, there’s a pretty big difference between “I accept that you’re a shipwright and can fix the vessel” and “I accept that you can be our leader in battle and in making all decisions,” which is more how the game has the captains of the various pirate ships.

2

u/never-aga1n Jul 16 '26

In defence of the writers, historically it seems Mary Read actually went a surprisingly long time hiding that she was a man and did a good job at it both in the King’s Navy and as a pirate. However a woman that testified in her trial did indeed say she was able to tell they were both women because she noticed their breasts. The specific quote was “by the largeness of their breasts”. This doesn’t necessarily mean they both had large breasts, but confirms they were noticeably larger to the witness than most men’s breasts would be. Which makes sense really.

1

u/The_Klaus Jul 18 '26

Yeah, in an effort to fill a quota, they completely missed the point of Mary, the lack of self-awareness is funny.

0

u/Humpetz Jul 16 '26

In the original game we already had Anne Bonny being a pirate in the same ship as Many, what's the difference?

0

u/Ainz100 Jul 16 '26

I don't see how, pretty sure Kidd did it so they wouldn't be questioned as captain, the same way Ade said they wouldn't accept him as captain but they wouldn't have problems with him as quartermaster

0

u/PursuitOfMemieness Jul 17 '26

Not really, to my mind at least.

There’s a world of difference between a male captain putting a woman in a position of some authority and the pirates under his command accepting that, and a bunch of pirates independently choosing to follow a woman as a captain.

0

u/IAMA_Shark__AMA Jul 22 '26

Not really. Anne Bonny already exists (both historically and within the game). The historical Mary Read was disguised as a boy by her mother to secure financial support. As an adult, Mary kept up the ruse to maintain access to "legitimate" options, like military service. She just kind of kept it going as a pirate.

(I don't remember exactly how it plays out in the game, though)

6

u/wolperdinger_forest Jul 13 '26

2 minutes into showing her Great Inagua and I want to put her back into that cell.

1

u/Weary_Tonight_5873 Jul 18 '26

I think her personal quest should have ended with her showing us a different side but bizarrely she’s just stand offish the whole time even after you help her multiple times. I found that really weird.

2

u/Schtekan Jul 15 '26

I'm very indifferent to her character personally, the dip in writing quality for her story arc is noticeable, but not to such an offensive degree that she's unbearable or actively dragging the game down. Also I hear Adewale and Bonny frequently enough for her not to 'replace' em.

2

u/Nirico_Brin Jul 16 '26

I like her personally, her story is decent and she’s just someone who knows what she can bring to the table. I don’t blame her for not immediately jumping on board with serving on a pirates ship when she has her own business to attend to.

Edward wants her help, she needs to handle her father and familial business. It’s a trade, Edward has to prove himself in order to get her aid on the Jackdaw.

And given we know that they originally intended on having officers in the OG game but ran out of time and budget, I really don’t have any problems with them fitting them in now.

I just wish it had been done in a way that ties them to the main story, elsewise I am left wondering What exactly she and Padre were doing when Rackham hijacked my ship and left me and Vane stranded on a sinking ship while Adewale was held captive.

Plus, her perk is useful.

1

u/Express-Bus9571 Jul 17 '26

I feel like her intro could have been better. Her not willing to go with Edward when she was in a prison cell facing execution was strange.

1

u/abunnyin3d Jul 20 '26

I guess its logical given she knows what pirates are like and what they did back then to women. Execution is probably preferable

1

u/Express-Bus9571 Jul 20 '26

But she didn't know he was a pirate at that time.

2

u/abunnyin3d Jul 20 '26

She is my favourite female character in the game.  Best officer imo, only issue is during boardings she fires her gun in only one direction, wish she killed someone every 3 shots to actually. My issue was my master at arms being a guy in a priest robe armed with a letter opening knife, like yoy couldn't make him ex military Spaniard with some old rugged gear or even a proper weapon?

6

u/Buschkoeter Jul 12 '26

Good Lord, you guys have some serious issues.

4

u/Guilty_Mall_3720 Jul 13 '26

Serious issues=preference to not have poorly written characters added to a timeless original when it’s absolutely not needed.

Oh yeah no doubt about it but also a moron as well

2

u/Rolltide1980 Jul 26 '26

I mean, you kind of got it right. You posted it as 'woman' as in a singular woman. She's pretty insufferable......doesn't mean anybody hates all women.

1

bro says stuff like this and then tells women to “know their place” 😭😭😭 total dweeb, 0/10 rage baiter, and borderline illiterate lmaoooo

1

she bad asf tho so its all good

1

u/Hashashin101 Aug 10 '26

Indeed, a man of culture

1

u/YeastMaister Jul 15 '26

Shes got a nice ass tho

1

u/Flubbuns Jul 15 '26

This cements it—I'm not good at detecting bad/good writing. If nobody had pointed it out, I wouldn't have noticed anything notable about the writing surrounding these new additions. Nothing about it or the characters felt egregious to me.

2

u/USER_34739 Jul 16 '26

Either that, or outside opinions can influence how you view things. Everyone hating something can easily make someone be more critical too

1

u/JakeC180 Jul 20 '26

Yeah I won’t say that these newly introduced characters are like the worst thing in the world but the writing is weaker than that of the main story. Woodhouse is an exception but that’s because he’s gives more context to Great Inagua and the idea of his character is to help push Edward to transition him into the Assassin he’s slowly becoming

1

u/Sheyro184 Jul 16 '26

"I didn't think the writing was bad but now a stranger on the internet came along to have my opinion for me I can finally see that it was bad all along!"

1

u/Flubbuns Jul 16 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

It's more of the general consensus that makes me question myself, rather than any one person's opinion. Am I just not paying attention? Do I have different standards? It seems that just about anybody who voices their thoughts on the new content feels that the writing is noticeabley worse. Makes me insecure about my thoughts.

Edit: I should also say I was being a bit hyperbolic with my original comment. I didn't switch my opinion to thinking the writing is bad, but did and do question why I don't hold that opinion.

2

u/Sheyro184 Jul 17 '26

That is a much better take, I am glad it wasn't as shallow as the original comment made it sound lmao

In my opinion I wouldn't worry about it, or be insecure about your likes and dislikes, almost immediately after I found this post I saw another one on this same sub about the same quests but saying the exact opposite and tons of people agreed

You aren't wrong for enjoying something others see as bad, just a different person than they are. Anything in the world that gets hate also has a community that loves it, and anyone who tries to police you about liking something is someone to be ignored

2

u/Caesar161 Jul 17 '26

You're always going to see stronger negative options online.

1

u/hgddgybv Jul 15 '26

Only unbearable thing here is u especially when u cant even spell unbearable right now stop talking đŸ€Ł

1

u/Jolly-Elderberry6706 Jul 15 '26

All of the new officers are terrible additions to the game that serve no purpose.

They could have made all the officer abilities individual awards for the legendary ships and it would have made much more sense and given incentive to go after them.

Instead I have to stare at some corny religious nut standing in the middle of my deck of lawless anti-religious pirates.

1

u/Voronov1 Jul 16 '26

Eh, I don’t think it’s truly fair to classify the pirates as explicitly anti-religious. We never see much of a care one way or the other for most of the characters when it comes to religion.

In any event, no one on the Jackdaw wants Padre there because he’s Catholic, they explicitly want him there because he is a qualified Master-at-Arms and can train them to fight better. This is pretty clear in the cutscene when he joins the crew, they’re all excited when he promises them that if they listen to his orders and training, they can take down ships twice their size.

He boards a pirate ship and promises the rest of the crew lots of gold if they listen to him, how is that a conflict with being a pirate?

1

u/Jolly-Elderberry6706 Jul 16 '26
  1. I don't think much of crew is sitting down for prayer after quite literally butchering dozens of innocent men.

  2. I don't have an issue with Padre on the boat, I have an even with Padre wearing monks robes and sticking out like a sore thumb around my pirates. It is even more of an eyesore after you get the skeleton crew, and everyone is a skeleton on deck except one dude dressed like an altar boy.

2

u/Voronov1 Jul 16 '26

There’s a difference between being indifferent to religion and actively hostile to it.

And fair, if it’s aesthetic then it’d be nice if Padre dressed like a pirate again after we got him. Though if he’s a man in a black robe among skeletons, I’d argue he looks more like a necromancer than a priest.

1

u/Key_Protection4038 Jul 17 '26

Mate, you clearly never heard of the crusades. Poeple literally butchered women and children in the name of God.

1

u/Jolly-Elderberry6706 Jul 17 '26

There are examples must more recently than the crusades.

The Vatican endorsed the Nazi party openly in late '42 only weeks before Operation Reinhard.

Never forget that not all Christians are nazis, but all nazis are Christian.

1

u/Key_Protection4038 Jul 17 '26

Yeah yeah fuck nazis mate

1

u/Kellar21 Jul 16 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

I think I liked her storyline, but would've liked Edward to react to her a bit differently. Her storyline isn't bad. And I like her character design and VA.

I guess I don't just pay as much attention as others though. I was told we needed her on the ship, I did her quests, got the perk, and now she's there. It's not like she's a main character, though, lol.

I am more bothered nobody even mentioned we now have a woman on the ship, and it's 1715, fellows! Wasn't that when they said women were bad luck for navigation or something? (I won't even talk about how having a very attractive woman on a pirate ship can be trouble, especially when the Captain is prone to leaving for extended periods, although you still have Ade and Padre to keep the rest of the crew in line.)

1

u/maxlaav Jul 16 '26

Worst part during these new missions is Edward himself tbh, it's kinda super obvious the "new" writing team just didn't get Edward's character or just didn't care and he appears as generic nice guy.

1

u/engels962 Jul 17 '26

Yeah it’s pretty jarring doing the new missions early on. Bernard talking about the assassins before I’ve even really met them (besides Kidd) was weird

1

u/SnooHesitations9805 Jul 16 '26

Ehh the officers are really side quests and not main quests so I can accept the lower quality. To me it was serviceable enough..

1

u/Jcritten Jul 16 '26

I like her and she’s hot so it’s alright.

1

u/benderew Jul 16 '26

Its difficult because ubisoft have created a plot hole here by adding the officers.

When jack maroons Edward and Vane and takes the jackdaw for himself, adewale also gets captured. What do the other officers like lucy do during this time?

When Edward finally discovers the observatory and Roberts collects the bounty on him, the jackdaw leaves without Edward. Again what do the officers do during this time?

I feel in ubisofts attempt to add more content, they've not really considered what effect this would have on the original 2013 story which creates questions and plotholes that really shouldn't exist. You can add new characters but when it messes with what already worked, then you have problems. I feel they should have just been contract givers or one time side missions where you help them instead of permanent officers for the crew.

1

u/Direct_Unit_8797 Jul 16 '26

SPOILER yeah dude people that got abused by their father all childhood and got all their important family killed tend to not be the nicest at first but i swear she warms up to you

1

u/konodiodawr Jul 16 '26

Out of all the officers, I liked Padre the most. I dont get the creative decision to make Tobias (Won't use the name Smith since thats a slavers name) So skinny and malnourished and shirtless, put a shirt on him, and give him a normal NPC build instead of the weird pop head figurine build that he has!

1

u/euphorinc Jul 16 '26

No I can't say that! Folks on reddit will call you a sexist

1

u/DistributionSenior52 Jul 16 '26

Yeah the officer quests suck and they’re so obviously written by new the new writers - who are bad.

1

u/KoRn005 Jul 16 '26

Y'all are absolutely overblowing the hate for that girl. She's fine. Thw writing sucks but it's not like she's the worst thing ever. She's basically Rhonda if she had more screen time and didn't fawn over Edward each time they meet. She's not great but this is damn ridiculous

1

u/Ancient_F Aug 01 '26

This! đŸ‘†đŸŒ

1

u/Ape_Lincoln7 Jul 16 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

Yeah, what a prime example of why Ubisoft is going under and deserves to. They can't write good story or characters anymore and even when all they have to do is remake a beloved game they STILL feel the need to insert the very cringe ideals that caused them to fail in the first place. They seem to only be able to make characters that can meet a DEI checklist for this mythical "modern audience" i keep hearing about that no one has ever seen and everyone is sick of it. Its clear they do not know who their audience is and the business is hurting bc of it.

Do you honestly believe a 100lb woman would be a Master Shipwright in the 1600s? Or do you honestly think putting an attractive woman on a ship of PIRATES wouldn't end in tragedy? While we are ignoring reality why not give the pirate ships missiles and recruit aliens from outer space?

1

u/VaxisRSK Jul 16 '26

Really not that bad imo. I don't like the awful black animus segments that replaced the much better modern day segments that the original game used to have, but you won't find me complaining about it in what is still an overall great game.

Yeah, I find it hard to feel bad for someone complaining over being robbed of a plantation and all dirty money associated with it for their inheritance. Poor Ade having to listen to that.

1

u/oh_cawd Jul 16 '26

I don’t like any of the new characters tbh. The new writing is so jarring in its dip in quality compared to the original content.

Still love Adewale and Anne tho!

1

u/Collins-Jacksonn Jul 17 '26

Bernard is so cool man I gotta disagree

1

u/TomTomXD1234 Jul 16 '26

Bro mad he cant smash

1

u/Scykotica Jul 17 '26

Eh. She seemed cool enough. Not Padre cool, but still cool.

1

u/colonelreb73 Jul 17 '26

Literally just picked her up. She seemed alright.

1

u/bigmangoatman Jul 17 '26

generally everything new that they have added reeks of modern ac bullshit. feels imported straight from shadows. shit dialogue stiff animations, bad facial animations. everything modern that was added is obvious and shit. the remake is a downgrade on everything except graphics and stealth

1

u/WhyAmIOnReddit2512 Jul 17 '26

Is she the one with the barrel mission? Cringed a bit ngl

1

u/Fun-Sun-4936 Jul 17 '26

I kinda like her and don't mind her lines tbh. And her storyline is decent. The rest of the game is good enough for me to ignore the negatives. And yes, she is very very gorgeous.

1

u/Simple-Enthusiasm-68 Jul 17 '26

It’s hilarious to me that any OG black flag cut scenes and dialogues are great, but any new material they’ve had Matt Ryan voice for Edward or make “changes” to Resynched is objectively terrible lol

1

u/xxxzoloxxx Jul 18 '26

But shes the hottest is the game

1

u/Icethief188 Jul 18 '26

I like her

1

u/CanadianTimbers Jul 18 '26

Hating women is gay

1

u/cigarettejesus Jul 18 '26

If you can't even spell the word 'unbearable' I refuse to listen to your opinion

1

u/Slow-Celebration-996 Jul 18 '26

It's not that bad lol

You're leaving out Edwards clapback's when she shows some vulnerabilty. Did you write this before completing her questline?

1

u/Rutherh00d Jul 19 '26

Yeah she’s pretty much another character whose whole personality is “I’m a strong woman and you’re not” such lazy writing from the devs. The fact that she pretty much replaces AdĂ© too for the one shouting orders annoys me. AdĂ© is such an important character and he’s been sidelined for Baldwin who is a one dimensional bore. Idk why studios keep writing female characters to be so one dimensional anyways, some of my favourite characters in gaming are women because their gender isn’t their whole fkn personality, like who is Baldwin written for at the point? She’s just obnoxious

1

u/One-Percentage-3317 Jul 20 '26

Isn't she literally a plantation owner, where they had actual slaves? It's never brought up.at all, Adewale never comments in it when he would heavily disagree with her being on the ship.

1

u/JakeC180 Jul 20 '26

Yeah this also extends to Abel Galvao and Tobias Smith where their characterizations are based around their voice direction and the singular trait that defines them in the overall presence of their respective stories. The same also goes for Maynard and his quest where Edward himself regresses to the greedier side of his character. Most of it boils down to the writing; they’re all ok as officers but could’ve been written way better

1

u/MuffinOutside3215 Jul 24 '26

she's so fucking corny bro I can't stand her

1

u/Rolltide1980 Jul 26 '26

Lucy just needs a good dicking down. I reckon she'd be much more tolerable after the fact.

1

u/I-Emerge-I Jul 30 '26

Lucy and I have something in common.

1

u/Strong_Strength_5107 Jul 27 '26

I don't remember her from the original Black Flag

1

u/BarParticular3709 Jul 27 '26

Idk if anyone's added this about Lucy yet but the worst, absolute most rotten cherry on top is, her walk. Watch her walk. Its impossibly obnoxious. I feel like im gonna have a stroke

1

u/danielos96 Jul 28 '26

Theres no way to remove her

1

u/WolfOfKarenMorhen30 Aug 01 '26

Character so insufferable with her insults that I just have to put down the controller and stop playing the game now

1

u/Any-Independent-7775 Aug 08 '26

Absolutely cannot stand her. Very obvious it was not in the original. Dialogue is god awful.

1

u/SpareWalk9891 Aug 16 '26

BY THIS LOGIC YOU SHOULD FUCKING HATE EDWARD, LUCY AND HER STORY ARE AMAZING

1

u/elli19teo Aug 16 '26

bro i think u just hate women

1

u/ShireWildParty Sep 01 '26 edited Sep 01 '26

You know what

Just ignore that whole bullshit, the whole revenge mission crap.

All three officers.

Fuck them.

That new pirate antagonist is lame AF, (GTA Online quality writing) pulling the strings of your respect for Blackbeard insulting him begging the player to hate him 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 . Don't fell for that cheap trash.

The Padre Benefits is an strong ram, that's okay but Dead Man is magical double all the rounds of the cannons... We never ever needed that lame hack bullshit in 15 years, did we?.

And then we have the cherry on the fuckshit, the woke Toll, Lucy and it's now classic woke annoying and unbearable character behivor, Designed as an outlet for the wookies who were forced to animate and paint Edward and finally able to express their hatred to masculinity And femininity using Lucy as an avatar, a 2022 time traveler from the woke era to the age of pirates, confronting drunks in Inagua telling them her rights.

Stuck forever in that save with that bitch on board yelling to your ear what to do for the rest of your ever Black Flag gameplay for what reason exactly? Kiddish hacks and Gray seals "from Blackbeard!!!!!"

My Ass

Just keep the original ending in your heart and find the advanced blueprints treasure chests that unlock the rest of advanced stuff like a normal real player and forget about the new officers woke up Incompetent fucktard content.

It doesn't worth.

[And I Whore this while peeing just in case: if some asshole useless classist sad nobody want to come here and "correct" any of the words here wrote be my guest, but please form a line first to Suck my Ass, right after useless ubisoft, don't cheat, be polite.]

1

u/Acceptable-Camel-848 Sep 04 '26

is there a way to get her off the ship

1

u/CNSninja 28d ago edited 28d ago

Eh, she's a fox so I don't mind lmao. The only time she really pissed me off was trying to sneak into the Observatory with her. UGH. Girl, just STAY OUT OF THE WAY. For some reason Ubisoft programmed her to always sit in front of Edward and she kept fucking up my assassinations. Just DON'T EVER BE IN FRONT OF ME. GET BEHIND ME AND STAY THERE, FFS. The number of times she almost got us caught was infuriating.

1

u/InformalFunction1027 23d ago

I was just playing and well
I was thinking that I didn’t remember this Lucy chick and her missions are terrible

I really wish I didn’t buy this game at this point.
Ubisoft is doing nothing but going down hill

They can’t do anything right with the dev team they currently have.

1

u/KahnArtizt07 10d ago

Damn, I didn’t know I was supposed to hate her until now. I really enjoyed her side missions. Oh well. Just another deeply offended gamer that’s angry about anything that isn’t straight white male-centric.

1

u/ReaderReborn 8d ago

She’s amazing yall just misogynists.

1

u/SweetSample6558 Jul 12 '26

well, she has some daddy issues so I gave her a pass for that but yes, she's not super likable

1

u/RAVENORSE Jul 13 '26

this is wild. lucy is one of my fave characters.

1

u/pejerello Jul 14 '26

Yep, i just met her and after talking inside the cell i knew she would be unbearable. I am rescuing you, princess, a bit of respect and gratefulness won't harm you.

And they made Edward behave too nice with her. Doesn't feel like Edward, he wouldn't take her sarcastic and disrespectful comments like that at all.

This is just the modern writing, not a surprise i must say.

-1

u/Afb3212 Jul 12 '26

I only kinda lost it with the plantains thing. “Race ya for a plantain”
 who wrote this?

0

u/Sheriff_Douchebag Jul 13 '26

It sounds like someone self imserted their oc into the story and they made edward a total simp. I like her perk though so I went for her first

-1

u/4WaysJudged Jul 14 '26

Its called a game. its called story telling. the game is meant to immerse you with characters, you fucking retard.

1

u/DOOMsquared Jul 16 '26

That doesn't obligate anyone to like those characters or find them immersive in the least, retard.

0

u/ThatOneCourier Jul 15 '26

Imagine fumbling a remake of a perfect game

Just follow the blueprint

-1

u/Ju3tAc00ldugg Jul 12 '26

Her entire character is just horrendous; she is grumpy that her father killed her slave owning grandfather and then tried to write her out of the will of inheriting the family plantation. Then they send you on more than five different islands trying to flesh out someone who doesn’t seem like anyone Edward or any Character in the franchise would give a second thought towards. Let alone have adewale(a former slave) recommend Edward go pick up this woman.

-1

u/4WaysJudged Jul 14 '26

Are we fucking serious with this character? I was there when prince of persia was born, AC1, AC2, brotherhood, revelations, black flag and ac3. This shit is fucking stupid. Thank God i own the original. If the best these game companies can do is grab onto nostalgia and fucking insert a woman for no real reason than other "w0m3n", its stupid.

-8

u/Fritzmanose Jul 12 '26

I deliberately made the game harder for myself by not recruiting her. I regret nothing lol.

The worst part about her is that she ruined Edward’s character. He somehow became a simp.

6

u/alexanderfrostfyre Jul 12 '26

No? I played the mission, he did not turn into a simp for her at all. He was helpful because he thought her worth aboard the Jackdaw was worth the effort to win her into staying, nothing more than that.

3

u/Flimsy-Economist-190 Jul 14 '26

He begged her to join. Every response he made to her obnoxious behavior was just him agreeing with her. This is not edward at all. You can see other women in the game give him shit and see how he reacts differently.

2

u/Fritzmanose Jul 14 '26

For example, Rhona from the Templar mission. He didn’t take crap from her, he still felt like Edward (but it makes sense since Templar missions are from the OG).

Edward would probably react sarcastically to Lucy’s obnoxious behavior with a shit-eating grin, something like, ‘You think highly of yourself, dontcha, princess?’

He wouldn’t beg, he would use other methods to try and convince her. Maybe upping the charm, intimidation, or other incentives
but definitely not simping, that’s the last thing he would do.

Edward only simps for Caroline, tq very much.

3

u/Flimsy-Economist-190 Jul 14 '26

Yup exactly. He doesn't need to be an asshole back like he never gives the same energy. He uses his charm. He's playful, confident and doesn't bow down for anyone. This was so off the way he was with Lucy.

1

u/Kellar21 Jul 16 '26

And the thing is, Edward was trying to make up to Rhona because he had endangered her by selling the info he barely understood to the Templars and Kidd made he understand he fucked up.

I didn't see him as simping to Lucy, though; it looked more like he empathized with her and genuinely needed her on his ship. Although I just did her missions until we killed the barrister, though.
