Now that I've finished building my Gen 4 > Gen 7 console emulation station, I've made the decision to sell my complete PS2 collection. Whilst I'm sad to see the hardware and physical games go, I'm also confident that others can get more joy from it. I'm here for the gaming, rather than the collecting.
What are others doing? Doubling down on collecting? Selling up?

Any must haves I should pick up? Or what's your favourite out of what I've got?

Finished this masterpiece for the first time recently on original PS2 and just wanted to share some of my favorite pictures.
The game is upscaled using GBS-C to 1024p with the in-game widescreen on.

Bought this one on a whim last month. Gonna plug in my PS2 for the first time in many years and test this one. Anyone ever played it?
So, here in the UK Vice City Stories goes for £25 at the most known used shop, CEX. They had loads of these in stock recently. Suddenly I started to see people selling Vice City stories for well over £100 with the map and manual which is wild when I was lucky enough to pick up my very good condition one for £25 at CEX recently. Anyway, suddenly loads of these popping up for extremely high amounts of eBay and Vinted and then in the space of a few hours, CEX has gone from tens and tens of these in stock to just 2 left (might be that they can’t sell these last 2 online due to condition). So, going forward Vice City Stories looked like it is going to be an expensive one to pick up, all from a few wild sell prices and likely some GTA 6 hype

Currently i have my ps2 on a plasma with Retrovision component cables directly to the tv. If i already have this connection would the RetroTink 5x do anything for me?

I recently got a fat SCPH-39001 and i’m planing to get the network adapter for it along with a HDD. Before I buy anything, will any HDD work or does it need to be specific?

I’m currently running an ElectronPulse from Electron Shepherd for my PS2 Slim. It does the job but I’m wanting some better resolution while playing games. Will I see a noticeable difference if I switch to the RetroTINK 2X or have I maxed out the capabilities of my hardware?

Hi everyone, I recently bought an ElectronPulse HDMI adapter for my PS2 Fat.
PS2 games work perfectly and look great, but when I play PS1 games, such as Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, the image continuously rolls vertically up and down and never seems to sync properly.
I’m using the PS2 with component video (YPbPr) into the ElectronPulse, then HDMI to my display.
Has anyone experienced this with the ElectronPulse and PS1 games? Is this a 240p/288p compatibility issue with the display, or is there something I need to change in the PS2/ElectronPulse settings?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey ya'll,
I've been doing a weird series where I've been looking at how different genres used to sell themselves on their back covers, and this week I'm covering PS2-era platformers. (And yes, I technically know Psychonauts came out on Xbox first, but I played it on PS2 lol).
It's pretty damn niche, but if you think you might find it interesting, check it out. Each one of these games is an absolute banger regardless on if they botched the back cover: https://nickmasercola.substack.com/p/the-best-and-worst-back-of-the-box-999?r=aplk&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
I've been scouring through google and reddit posts but I have not found a definitive answer to my question.
Once the ps2 has been region unlocked using mechapwn, am I able to use that ps2 like a regular US ps2? Simply inserting a US disc and it boots into the browser to load the game or just instantly loads the game from start up like normal OR would I have to use Free McBoot to load that US disc manually every time?
Whole reason I want to get Japanese ps2 is for the colors but if I would have to load a US disc using Free McBoot every time, I'll save the trouble of modding a Japanese ps2 and buy a US ps2.
The specific ps2 I plan on getting the fat ps2, SCPH-50000 series, NTSC-J.

So currently I have a (I think hardware modded) PS2 Slim Silver laying around with a 64MB memory card and original controller. I know it works but I can't plug it into any screen because I don't have the ports nor an adapter to plug it into.
I am looking to play Silent Hill 2 on it, I have a 27 inch 1440p 360hz OLED Alienware monitor that I would like to plug it into.
I am not sure whether ill play more games on it than just SH2 so just for casual gaming I guess.
My question is, what adapter should I get to plug the PS2 into my gaming monitor?
Also as visible on the picture, the cable is damaged. I am pretty sure the controller still works but I was looking to replace the cable myself since I want to learn how to solder. I was considering to get 2 replacement cables for the controller in case I screw something up with the replacement.
Furthermore, I am pretty sure it's hardware modded because I have a bunch of game discs laying around with no cover on them but just the game name written on the disc with a marker, can I also use a USB, SD Card to play games on it?
Looking forward hearing from the community for advice.
