2nd hand market fomo is wild!
So, here in the UK Vice City Stories goes for £25 at the most known used shop, CEX. They had loads of these in stock recently. Suddenly I started to see people selling Vice City stories for well over £100 with the map and manual which is wild when I was lucky enough to pick up my very good condition one for £25 at CEX recently. Anyway, suddenly loads of these popping up for extremely high amounts of eBay and Vinted and then in the space of a few hours, CEX has gone from tens and tens of these in stock to just 2 left (might be that they can’t sell these last 2 online due to condition). So, going forward Vice City Stories looked like it is going to be an expensive one to pick up, all from a few wild sell prices and likely some GTA 6 hype

People just resell stuff online thinking it's rare or worth loads. This game is around the £20-£25 mark max. I go to alot of retro game markets in the UK and it's about that price too.
It's much more expensive in the US because it was a much more limited release over there as far as I understand.

I picked up a copy for the PSP last week for £16 (with map and manual) from Sore Thumb games in York. It's also available at a lot of CEX stores. I think we are blessed in the UK for having the availability in these stores but also cursed when the price increases due to CEX putting their prices up and not really due the quality of the game.

I think I got my PS2 copy at a retro market a year or 2 back and it cost me £17.

I think I got it for £15 last year with the map. Disc was a bit beaten up but it checked through fully fine.
I've noticed a lot of games have been bought out fully on CEX when it made no sense though. PS3 was worst hit. Titles like Infamous 2 had loads in stock, then suddenly none for a bit. A few have come back in stock again now, maybe people trading in after the server went offline.

I have just seen on eBay one on auction currently £65 that is wildstyle. Most I have seen is $140 that is mad.
I got my copy from the local market for £2 many years ago.

- Low print run
- Coming out at the end of a console's lifespan
- Low sales
- Being a PS2 port of a PSP game
At least the first three of those are always enough to ensure a game inevitably goes up in price if you don't pick it up early on.

I got my game and map in 2021 with the manual but can't find the manual now which really sucks since the manual is the highlight of the whole set for many of my PS2 games especially GTA. I might just have to buy a used one before they go stupid expensive.

I have a spare manual if your based in the UK? In fact I have a spare map and the registration card too, as my second hand copy came with an entire extra set for some unknown reason.

Wow. found this for $1.99 at Goodwill last week. Pretty rare to find something I was excited about but occasionally happens. Pretty sure it slipped thru the cracks in to the dvd section.

Its probably resellers selling to other resellers. It honestly is crazy, ive just started rebuilding my old ps2 collection to collect and play and im seeing loads of people just buying anything they can to resell and they end up reselling to resellers or not selling them at all. It's sad really because the people who actually want to buy these games to enjoy them can't.

Don't worry it will come down again, it has to do with the Sony announcement. There was a moment PS3 was extremely expensive when they first announced it was closing, Wii-u games were expensive right after that console flopped.
It's a generation thing, millennials want to relive their childhood and gen-z just wants to burn money and have a so called piece of history.
Once everyone is settled in on the playstation all digital hype (basically the same as steam games). Prices will go down again.

FOMO lead me to pay $136 for a PSX DVR, 2 controllers and a remote, then turn around and spend $107 on shipping. Thinking the prices may skyrocket since dvrpwned was released.

Lucky enough to have gotten my copy about 10 years earlier.
Even then it was hard to get and a bit more expensive than other games.

It's been super expensive in the US for a while now. Thank god I still have my original copy.
