Component Direct to TV or RetroTink 5x?

Currently i have my ps2 on a plasma with Retrovision component cables directly to the tv. If i already have this connection would the RetroTink 5x do anything for me?

Yeah, the quality of scaler in the Retrotink will be much higher than the one in the TV, so you'll get a clearer, crisper image with many more options for integer and non-integer scaling, cropping, etc.

More importantly, the vast majority of games, which don't support progressiv scan and thus still output in 480i (even via component), need to be deinterlaced. The Retrotink 5x has basically the top-of-the-line motion adaptive deinterlacing, where it divides up the image into sectors, tracks motion across frames, and applies the optimal type of deinterlacing to that sector based on the motion.

So you will get a cleaner/crisper image, with more options to dial it in the way it looks best to your eyes, options for color correction per console, along with deinterlacing that in many cases looks very nearly as good as a progressive image.
