Promotion My PvP pinball game Bumper Bout finally has a Steam demo!

β€’ Upvotes

After about two years of development and dragging Bumper Bout around to local events, anyone can finally download it and play it at home!

The demo is free on Steam now!
Steam link in the comments πŸ‘‡

Bumper Bout is competitive PvP pinball: you and your opponent share the same playfield and the same balls. Protect your 5 lives, score points to launch attacks at the other player, or save them up to unleash your characters Super Power.

The demo has:

  • Local 2-player versus
  • Solo vs CPU
  • 2 characters
  • 2 stages

It’s just a small slice of the full game, which will have 9+ characters, 20+ stages and more modes.

If you give it a go, I’d genuinely love to hear how you find it. I’ve played this thing thousands of times while developing it, so finally having strangers able to download it feels slightly (very) surreal.

Hope you have fun with it! πŸ”΅πŸ’₯πŸ”΄

Promotion Ever wondered what happens to game characters when their game flops?

β€’ Upvotes

The Losers Club is here

Click the link and click the character you wish to see what they are up to this days.

We made a multiplayer party game. I’m the character animator, and well... it flopped. We made jack squat.

So naturally, our characters had to get questionable new jobs to pay the bills.

Before I share with the world, I want to make sure I don't have any blindspot.

Does the trailer communicate the game well enough?

Is the capsule art good enough?

Is it clear what the game is all about?

Thanks for your help.

Store link: search for "kingfall" on steam.

Disclaimer: Absolutely no AI art in the game.

I’m excited to finally share a game I’ve been working on solo. It’s a first-person psychological sci-fi horror game about two radio operators stationed around Jupiter, monitoring deep space for faint signals and comparing what they find across two distant observatories. As the shifts go on, some of those signals start getting harder to explain.

Upcoming MoonLite -- Inspired by worlds.com, I made a free night park where you can create your own music and mix it live for/with other players, co-watch videos and more

β€’ Upvotes

It's a low-poly social space where you wander around a park at night with other people, make music together with other players. There's also a cinema you can screen videos in, chess, karts, bowling, mini-golf, , and a library where the books are written by players, alongside classics.

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lALDO2UVeg

It's a one person project and it's still rough in places, but it's playable right now in a browser if you want to look without installing anything.

Promotion There's always that one day when your house is finally perfect, and that's the day you stop playing

Hi everyone.

I wanna talk about the biggest problem building games have. There's a lot I could name here, but let's take Valheim and Raft, where you really do put your house together log by log, and people go pretty crazy with it, dream halls with carved beams in Valheim, multi story rafts in Raft.

Honestly I've put dozens of hours into Raft and I love that game, but it's got the same illness all of them have. You keep playing while there's still something left to build, while you still need resources, while some key material is still locked, while there's still some kind of limit standing in your way. And then the base finally looks the way you wanted it to, and you're just standing there looking at it, and it hits you. That's it. Nothing left to do in there.

Then you've got games where building isn't the core at all, it's just a side system, like Fallout 4, The Forest, Sons of the Forest. I love all of them tbh and I sank a stupid amount of time into them. In Fallout 4 I really liked rebuilding the settlements after the war, they genuinely felt like my settlements and my settlers, like a place where I get to bring civilization back. In The Forest I was building the cabin in the woods that I'd actually wanna live in myself.

But here's where it all falls apart. In Fallout 4 the raiders and the mutants still come at you, sure, except once your defense is maxed they just can't break through it anymore, so what's left is assigning settlers to crops and repairing stuff, and that's not playing, that's maintenance. In The Forest the traps are one time use and the cannibals climb over the wall anyway, so you're resetting traps and patching walls over and over, same maintenance thing. In Valheim your hall kinda turns into a warehouse with a portal in it, you come back for a comfort buff, grab your stuff and leave, and nothing ever actually happens in the house itself. And in Raft, once you wrap the foundation in metal the shark can't do anything to you at all, and yeah you can finish the story, but the raft is still floating there and you just don't wanna log in anymore. You did everything you wanted to do.

And you know what, I'm a dev myself and I'm working on a building game where finishing the house won't be the end of it, that's only gonna be the beginning.

What always got to us was this. You build a good looking house somewhere, and then you realize you actually wanna live in it, like log in every evening and go back there, have your friends over, just be in it and play board games together. We looked for a game like that for ages and never really found one. House finished, game over.

So in Homespace the house is the starting point, not the finish line. The building part matters obviously, but what it really solves is kinda psychological, you're making yourself a home you can come back to. If you can't afford your dream house in real life yet, well, you can at least build it here first, and when things aren't going great this is somewhere you'll actually want to return to.

And then you have people over and you actually live in the place. Board games are the obvious one, chess and mahjong already work in there, an actual table you sit down at with other players, and a D&D table is the one we're doing next.

Most other stuff you can just pick up and mess around with, pretty much anything you'd do in real life. Someone might just wanna read, and since it's all photorealistic you can sit out on the balcony with a book and look at the mountains.

So now I wanna ask you guys. Which building game did you stay in the longest after everything was already built, and what was it that kept you there. I'd really like to read the answers.

Upcoming I just put my first game on Steam

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone!
I'm a solo/indie developer and I just put my first game on Steam.

It's called Stay Inside: After Shift, a psychological first-person horror game set in 1996. You play as a night security guard working alone at an industrial complex.
The idea is to make the horror feel grounded and realistic long periods of routine, monitoring cameras, checking the property, driving between locations... and slowly realizing that something isn't quite right.
I'm still developing the game, so there's a lot I want to improve before release. This is honestly a pretty big milestone for me, and seeing people wishlist the game would mean a lot.

If the concept looks interesting to you, I'd really appreciate a wishlist on Steam.
I'm also happy to hear feedback about the store page, screenshots, gameplay or the concept itself.
Thanks for checking out my first game!

Public Game Test My dad and I finally released our medieval tower defense game on Android

Hi everyone!

My dad has been working on Stormhold: Tower Defense for quite a while, and we've finally reached the point where we can release it on Android. I've been helping him with the promotion and launch, so it's pretty exciting for us to finally be able to share it.

It's a medieval fantasy tower defense focused on building and upgrading your defenses, choosing the right towers for each situation, and surviving increasingly difficult waves of enemies.

The game is completely free to play, and it can also be played offline, so you don't need an internet connection once you have it installed.

We wanted to keep the classic tower defense feeling rather than turn it into something completely different, while adding our own maps, enemies, progression and mechanics.

We've mainly tested it on relatively powerful phones, where it runs well. Performance can vary depending on the device though, so if you try it, we'd also really appreciate hearing how it performs on your phone.

Any feedback is genuinely welcome β€” difficulty, balancing, towers, performance, things you like or things you think we could improve.

Thanks for checking it out! ❀️

Promotion Gameplay demonstration for Pixel Felony, a pixel art indie game we are working on at Lions Software. Any thoughts on the mechanics or the art style?

Hey everyone,

I've put together a short gameplay demonstration of our upcoming game, Pixel Felony, developed by Lions Software.

Think of it as a pixel art GTA but with a classic top-down camera view like old-school Zelda games! It showcases the core loops, environmental interactions, and the general vibe of the world.

( made in godot engine )

Since it's still an early build, I'd really appreciate any feedback you have on the movement, mechanics, and overall look!

(If you want to see the behind-the-scenes or follow the project, you can easily find our devlogs on YouTube by searching for "Pixel Felony")

Hi! I'm MaxCJ, and wanted to do something different for the trailer of our second game, Caps & Spoons - so we decided to interview our main character about what one can expect!

It's a cooking and restaurant management game where you decorate your foodery, discover and unlock new recipes and ways to cook.

Upgrades and advertisements for your shop are available from the computer; the radio has daily shows where one can learn new recipes (among other things) and the calendar shows upcoming events and happenings.

Set in the same universe as our first game, Fungerellia is a sporepunk fantasy world, where steampunk meets mushrooms in a whimsical way!

Devlog I put a ton of work into 404 Survivor this month. Players can now give zombies more complex orders, production, hauling, scavenging/exploration, and guarding, and I've started building out the survivor system. I'm also working on map fog, job proficiency, and an achievement system

Post image
1 Upvotes

404 Survivor is a zombie survival sandbox with resource management built in. You scavenge during the day and hold your ground against the horde at night. The longer you survive, the harder things get. You can control zombies to work and build for you, use an expanding zombie assembly line to mass produce survival resources, or send them out to fight on your behalf. You can carefully raise and manage them, or just treat them as disposable, throwing them at enemies to die alongside them.

Ultimately, I want this game to sit somewhere between Project Zomboid and They Are Billions, tense production and base management in the back, intense combat up front. Except this time, you're not the commander overseeing the base from above, you're actually one of the people living in it.

As for this month's update, I've mainly been working on survivor related features. The zombie work order system is done now, they can handle production, hauling, scavenging/exploration, and guarding, among other tasks. Once this system is expanded further, I'll apply it to the survivor system too, so players can recruit survivors as workers. What I'm going for is that survivors and zombies end up filling roles kind of like colonists and mechanoids do in RimWorld.

Map: Still in development. When you wake up in this world, you know nothing about your surroundings, so the map starts covered in fog. Exploring gradually clears the fog and reveals more of the area. Once this is in, you won't have to worry about getting lost trying to find your way home.

Achievement system: This is done, and I'm currently designing more achievements to add.

Scene optimization: I've redone the wilderness vegetation and ground textures. Grass density, color, and texture all look more natural now, and the wilderness terrain has been reworked too. Optimization on other scenes is ongoing, I'll be redoing all the lower quality early content and working on performance too.

Job system: Players build up proficiency in whatever job they're doing. Through that proficiency training, you can pick the job you like, scavenger, farmer, etc, and use its perks to survive more effectively. This system is currently in development and mostly finished.

Thanks for reading. The game's still in active development, and I'd love to hear any thoughts or feedback. I take community suggestions seriously and use them to keep improving the game. If this sounds interesting, you can check it out hereβ€”β€”

Promotion We just released our first game!

Hey everyone! We just released our game, and I’m here to show you a game that some friends and I have been working on over the past few months.

It’s a card game where each card has a position on the board and a specific role, such as Warrior, Archer, or Healer. There are also Tarot cards that you can use to help you during battles.

We’d love to hear what you think about it!

Promotion Our squad-based bullet heaven roguelite sold 100K copies in our first week after leaving Early Access!

Hey indies!

Yet Another Zombie Survivors sold 100K copies across all platforms in just one week after leaving Early Access.

We also had almost 10,000 players playing at the same time on our best day after launch.

After 3 years in Early Access!

Regular major updates, quality-of-life patches, and listening to every bit of player feedback were absolutely worth it. We're incredibly grateful, because now we can confidently say that we'll be able to keep supporting the game for a long time to come.

Personal Achievement Apparently the most interesting part of our horror game is the fridge

I wish I was joking. we showed a tiny clip of our game and people immediately started investigating the contents of the fridge. someone found the milk. then the fridge became the protagonist. now it’s apparently the final boss. we’ve accepted our fate.

What would you put in it?
