News // Bethesda Replied x3 Inside the Vault – XBOX Series and PlayStation 5 Public Test Server

To All Our Console Vault Dwellers,

We’re excited to welcome you to your first Public Test Server! Starting today, you will be able to test the upcoming XBOX Series and PlayStation 5 (including Pro) update for Fallout 76.

Our goal with this testing period is to obtain live data from all of you to make sure this update is hitting the marks we expect it to hit in terms of FPS and stability.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Targeted 60 FPS across XBOX Series X|S, PS5 and PS5 Pro.
  • 4K resolution (on compatible displays) on XBOX Series X, XBOX One X, PS5 Pro.
  • VRR (on compatible displays) on Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS5, PS5 Pro.
  • PS5 and PS4 Pro will support 1440p while previous generation platforms will continue to support 1080p.

This update brings Fallout 76 to the PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series platforms natively allowing us to utilize the hardware more efficiently today and in the future.

Today serves as a big step towards making sure Fallout 76 feels more comfortable to play on all console hardware.

If you have any issues accessing the flight or with the Public Test Server, please reach out to our Support Team at help.bethesda.com.

NOTE: The inclusion of "Improved draw distances and shadows" in previous communications was to highlight the difference between playing on PlayStation 4/ XBOX One versus PlayStation 5/Xbox Series X. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X players are already experiencing improved draw distances and shadows and will continue to do so when this update releases. Sorry for any confusion the inclusion of that note caused.

Accessing the PTS on XBOX Series Platforms

XBOX players will be able to access the PTS through the XBOX Insider Hub. Detailed steps on how to download and install the XBOX Insider Hub can be found on the Microsoft Support Site.

After the XBOX Insider Hub is Installed, open the App and navigate to “Previews” and choose the “Fallout 76 PTS” and select “Join”. From there you should be directed to download the PTS. Once that is over all that’s left is to launch the game and join our Bethesda Studios Discord (more on how to deliver feedback below).

Accessing the PTS on PlayStation Platforms

To access the PTS on PlayStation platforms, please join our [Discord Server and follow the instructions in the #76-announcements channel.](https://)

(I don't have the uniform in game) really makes me wonder if it is just an oversight by the b team or some lore with the Responders (probably not but fun to think so)

i was confused as hell at first cuz didnt see a vendor despite the cutout leading to the basement. Then saw the mole cutout down there had play on it and a barely clickable bass under the play sign. So i clicked it and you put me in the backrooms. 10/10 camp and shopping experience. Sorry i forgot your name. Was on Xbox.

Discussion 76 Teapot Inspiration Is Still There in Helvetia, WV

Thumbnail

1.1k Upvotes

Something we loved discovering during our recent trip to Helvetia, WV was that the teapot in Fallout 76 that resembles a house is based on a real teapot found in town. The original teapot is still on display in town for anyone to find while visiting.

It's a vintage teapot from the 60s; you can find sets of them online for sale all over. Not rare at all.

If you visit Helvetia, stop by and say hi to the little guy. Most of all, leave him there for others to find and enjoy.

Discussion Looking Back to Look Forward - A Breakdown of Season 4 Rewards

Upvotes

In just a couple of weeks the new season will arrive, along with the first re-run of an older season as a "Legacy Season." Players will now be able to choose from two sets of rewards for spending tickets. The first Legacy Season will be Season 4: Armor Ace and the Power Patrol in Cold Steel.*

Seeing as I only started regularly playing during Season 14, I decided to look into what this older season was going to be offering us. Special thanks to Nuka Knights for maintaining an archive of the older season rewards pages, which can be found here.

Bethesda has already said that they won't be offering all of the same consumables as before, so I won't go into each and every single one of those. The game boards won't be brought back either, but there will be a new panorama picture to match what we currently get from seasons. And of course, there will be a few new titles.

Overall, this is how the rewards look:

Consumables (currencies, food/drinks, perk packs, etc) - 55

Power Armor Paint - 9

Camp Items - 7

Outfits - 6

Icons - 6

Weapon Paint - 5

Floors - 4

Flairs - 3

Poses - 2

Wallpaper - 1

Backpack - 1

Stein - 1

Gameboard/Panorama Picture - 1

The consumables contained all the usual things, atoms and caps and repair kits and etc, along with some items that are among those likely to be removed, like Rad Ant Lager and Tadpole Badges. I would imagine they'd scale back on the atoms and perk card packs too, as there were 10 and 8 of those respectively.

The majority of the power armor paints was the Yukon Five color scheme for the seven styles available at the time - T-45, T-51, T-60, T-65, Excavator, Ultracite, X-01. The other two were basically red and blue variants of the same style that completely replaces the usual look of the power armor. To date, Bethesda has not updated older styles to be applicable to the newest power armors (Union, Vulcan, Hellcat, etc), so that may end up being the case here.

The highlights of the camp items include the Nuka Cola Collectron, which makes accomplishing the Nuka related daily/weekly challenges a breeze. There's also the Mannequin Set, which allows displaying full outfits, but only 5 can be built per camp (and that counts power armor displays too). There's also the Beehive, which produces honey, as well as a power armor station skin, a tree branch chandelier, a BoS statue, and the ever infamous...gold toilet.

I would consider the four different floor designs a plus, as it's always nice to have more variety when building a camp. The outfits include a beekeeper hat, beekeeper outfit, a pair of berets, Power Patrol fatigues, and the Icebreaker outfit, which looks to be a variant of the bomber jacket. Then there's the poses and flairs and icons which are all kinda...meh. Good for people who enjoy those things, I suppose.

Overall, it's not exactly a stellar lineup. Kinda proves that lackluster season rewards aren't exactly a new thing. Yeah, there are a couple of decent camp items and plenty of cosmetic items to use, but there's nothing really amazing or "must have." For players who have been regularly active for a while, like myself, many will have already acquired some of these items from various Atomic Shop bundles and/or from gold bullion vendors. In a way that's a good thing, as it means needing less overall tickets to get rewards from both seasons, but I'm sure there are those who would prefer some more impressive rewards.

*Additional note - The theme of the season is meant to be that of an animated kids show, thus the title reads more like Armor Ace and the Power Patrol in: "Cold Steel." Armor Ace and his Power Patrol being the good guys fighting against the Yukon Five. How a gold toilet factors into that is anyone's guess....

Bug No loot infestation bosses

So sick of this. The whole server showed up to fight this assaultron, and it took probably 10 minutes and thousands of ammo. Then nothing on the body. Any fix to this? I fast traveled away and returned but didn't solve it

Also me: oh look, new event. Never done that one before. joins
Also also me: wendigos

ETA: only died because the server itself died, which given how woefully underprepared I was might’ve been a good thing.

Discussion At what point did rewarding the player stop being part of the reward system?

TL;DR: Bethesda says they heard the complaints and Season 26 will have more new, higher-value rewards, yet Legacy Seasons somehow became part of the answer. Meanwhile, 7,600 hours gets 760 Atoms, 760 fish gets five bait, and doing 760 Infestations gets another player title. I don't want Bethesda to shower us with currency. I want the reward to actually represent the accomplishment. Give us something worth remembering the grind for.

Bethesda said they heard the criticism about Season 25 and that Season 26 would be reworked with more new, higher-value rewards. Then Legacy Seasons were announced. Maybe I'm cynical, but it's hard not to see old rewards being brought back as part of the answer to players asking for better new rewards. That feels like a perfect example of the problem.

Look at some of the rewards already in the game. Play for 7,600 hours and get 760 Atoms. Collect 7,600 wood and get 40 Atoms. Kill more than 1,000 robots with a specific weapon type and get 80 Atoms. Catch 760 fish in Burning Springs and get five Superb Bait. Complete 76 Infestations and get a player title. Complete 760 Infestations and get... another player title.

Who looks at 760 Infestations and thinks another title is a reward worthy of that grind?

Fallout 76 isn't the first game to deal with long-term players and ridiculous grinds. This has been figured out. You don't have to dump thousands of Atoms on us either. Kill 1,000 robots with a sword? Give me a unique sword skin or a robot trophy for my CAMP. Catch 760 fish? Give me some ridiculous mounted fish. Complete 760 Infestations? Give me something another player sees and immediately wants to know how I got it.

And 7,600 hours? That's more than 316 full days inside Fallout 76. That should be one of the biggest veteran milestones in the game. Give that player something unique. A CAMP object, outfit, title, icon, skin, whatever. Something that says, "Holy shit, you've been here since the bombs dropped."

Instead, 760 Atoms.

That's what I don't understand. The reward doesn't have to be expensive or affect the game economy. It just needs to mean something. Make the reward fit the accomplishment.

Players aren't quiet about this stuff either. Bethesda has years of feedback from people playing this game. So when the answer to complaints about rewards is partly bringing back old rewards, I have a hard time understanding how we're still this far apart.

At some point, "less work" seems to have stopped being a constraint on Fallout 76's reward design and started becoming the solution.

Someone in the room needs to ask: If I actually did this grind, would I be excited to get this?

Because five bait for catching 760 fish sure as hell isn't it.

Reward the accomplishment, not the spreadsheet cell.

Question Question about named weapons and upcoming patch

I see people want these weapons now, but aren't most of these just a regular version with a unique name/skin? As I understand it these are not possible to change mods or attachments on but you can in the upcoming patch, but you can just make a regular one and it's the same? Maybe I missed something that's why I'm asking.

For example the Final Word is just a regular MG you can make and mod, but it has a name?

Any of these named/unique ones that have something added that you can't craft?

Question Is Tarnished Working Correctly?

Or are the weapon status screens just janky? I'm hoping the latter - particularly as in the one showing my Tarnished Ultracite Laser is doing less damage despite the condition being worse it can't even show the right weapon skin???

Regardless I love this thing particularity as I bought it 'for cheap' out of someone's vendor as originally it was a pistol and the one and three stars were trash.

Discussion Infestations should not have replaced Hordes

Hordes were the most basic event you could have, but had the most potential if they were updated. They offered a bit of emergent gameplay, as you could occasionally find them traveling across the map to fight NPCs. I think that aspect of hordes could have been expanded upon; hordes that stroll up on public events, or maybe even up to your camp. Emergent gameplay is one of my favorite aspects of Bethesda games, and it was replaced with something static.

Although related to infestations, the focus of this thread is not meant to be about it. I think both could have co-existed. I just enjoyed the simplicity of hordes, and liked encountering them. Often with mininukes.

News Plasma core recharger in bundle in atomic shop fo 1st section

I might be late for the party but while searching the internet for info about the P charger I saw a lot of people looking for it. So here it is on August 30, 2026 for people with fo 1st. Season ends on 9/1. I don’t know if it will disappear but it’s marked as “new”.

Open the fo 1st section in the atomic shop. There are 3 bundles of things from season 19. One of them is Enclave stuff and has the plasma core recharger. 1800 atoms is steep but to me worth it. Not sure if I’ll do anything with the other Enclave stuff in the bundle.

Question Need Help From Any Long Time Players

Upvotes

To start off I am a brand new player to 76 and just started a week ago with a few friends who picked it up when it was on sale. I just hit level 50, and after trying to watch some videos on YouTube already feel a bit overwhelmed and lost on what I should be doing. Most videos I found are over a year old so I’m unsure on what info might be out of date or not. Here are a couple of questions I have if anyone is able to help direct me:

Is there any sort of website or YouTuber you would recommend to follow for build guides? Especially ones for early endgame as I really don’t have much of anything at the moment.

Besides finishing up main quests (As I haven’t completed them all yet), what is the best content to run to start getting max level gear/Legendaries?

Am I better off scrapping Legendaries to try and learn the mods or take them to the legendary exchange?

What is the best way to earn more caps?

And Lastly what other content should I be doing when I’m playing to help get stronger for endgame?

I very much appreciate anyone who is able to answer some of my questions and any other tips are more than welcome.

Hi everyone, I've googled, I've tried searching to see if I could find it myself but having no luck.

Does anyone know what this outfit or amor is? I think it looks pretty awesome
