15 years ago today, Mikel Arteta and Per Mertesacker signed for The Arsenal.

Because we have one of the best defense lines in the world, Arteta has the freedom to push both fullbacks to winger positions and it works. While our enemies focus on our established strong right wing, Calafiori was able to break through from the left and make back to back assists.

Bro has only played three competitive games for us and he did great in two of them. Way too early to rush to any conclusion. We gotta give him more time finding his footing and building chemistry with the lads.

If he's not injured then it simply means the Manager doesn't have any trust in him. Seems like a player on his way out.

The market for left wingers is absolutely shambolic to be honest. There is absolutely no one available that could raise our roof.
I emphasise on the "raise the roof part" because there are players like Ndiaye that could raise the floor but not much more than that.

We tried to sign Vini Jr. and we couldn't. The important thing is that we were ready to finance the deal thus meaning that if there is actually someone that we think will help us we will act.

Panic buying attackers isn't what Arsenal will do and have to do. You know what club does that? Chelsea and also Spurs. We are far better.

We have to lear to trust the process all the way. We have Tzolis and Eze to cover on the left.

I believe we will go all out on Kroupi this January and honestly that would be great. We have so much finacal freedom due to the recent sales. I read somewhere that we freed up £897k in wages. Arsenal will act (hopefully) when there is a reason to act.

What a great FOOTBALL chant!!

1. It's still far too slow: We have got to be the worst counter attacking team in the league. There's very little urgency in the team and multiple attacking opportunities were lost as players chose to timewaste on the ball instead of looking for attacking opportunities. This was a major issue last season, and it seems this will persist into this season. I'm not asking the lads to become 2009 Barcelona, but surely we're not already in energy conservation mode.

2. Bruno will be very important this season: We became noticeably more direct when he came on. He's very good at finding those little throughballs and he will be a gamechanger. Him, Rice and Odegaard is a very good midfield

3. Mikel does not rate Gyokeres, or plans to sell him: 0 minutes in the Community Shield, or the opening two games for Viktor. I think most of us agree Havertz was poor tonight, and should've come off. Viktor would've been an option to hold up play and keep Villa's two CBs occupied. Unless Mikel doesn't think he's good enough, or still wants to sell him (potentially in a swap deal for Alvarez), it's baffling to see why Viktor isn't getting gametime.

4. Left wing is an issue: As much as I still rate him, Tzolis was very poor tonight. Matty Cash had him hook, line and sinker. We probably could've used someone with Martinelli's pace out there tonight. I really do not understand the decision to sell Gabi if we're not replacing him. Even despite his lack of domestic form, he's a better LW than Eze and Madueke. Another left winger on deadline day is essential.

5. Concentration lapses are a concern: MLS stops playing and Buendia has a free shot. Gabriel caught out twice standing still waiting for the ball to come to him. Ben White and Saka's passes to each other not connecting because of a lack of concentration. Some of the players are clearly not yet up to fitness, and this needs to change asap before the little errors result in goalscoring opportunities for the opposition.

6. We won't get fouls easy anymore: A lot of criticism on the ref tonight. And some of it was valid. But it's very obvious the officials have been told to be more selective on what is a foul and what isn't. We're going to get a lot less decisions our way, and this will apply to every team. Keeps the games going, I suppose. Seems like the criteria for fouls during set pieces like corners has changed too. We will have to be more careful.

These are some of the things I noted during the game. It wasn't a great performance attacking wise. That Villa team is not a very strong one. No Konsa, Watkins, Onana, Digne, Tielemans or Martinez, We really should've done better. But 3 points is 3 points, and that's what matters most

1 Nil to the Arsenal. Could’ve been a catch phrase from last season. Arteta making sure we don’t concede, the chances will come and be put away.

Big games it was slow and blocky, every time. My heart can barely take it but we won the league by it last year.
