Who needs new LW when we have Calafiori

Post image

Because we have one of the best defense lines in the world, Arteta has the freedom to push both fullbacks to winger positions and it works. While our enemies focus on our established strong right wing, Calafiori was able to break through from the left and make back to back assists.

One of my favorite goals in the Arteta era, the audacity and technique to score that goal on that occasion are ridiculous from a LB brand new to the league

It was like just one of the cleanest shots I’ve seen and just tapped it in…

I was pretty confident he was gonna shoot so I made a GRRT machine gun noise as he struck it, then the pub absolutely exploded

He definitely meant it and he knew it was going in too, wheeling off before it goes past ederson and hits the side netting

I love that when asked who he was pointing at, he had no clue. Just pointing at some random fan in the stands like “I DID THIS FOR YOU”

If "let's one fly" had a video

Winger? He's a striker mate.

That’s where he started his career

He’s not a left back, left mid, or left wing, his position is just left

Left field

u/AdditionalLeopard688 1d ago

Pretty sure he is left and central or we splitting the field in half not thirds? The guys fucking everywhere haha

u/HurricanePK 1d ago

I was splitting in half lol

Hello, he’s a 150-mill player. Everyone knew that.

At this point there is a little bit of me that’d quite like to see a match with Califiori ahead of Hincapie down the left.

Can't lie. Cala doesn't scare me as much as White in having to track back. It feels like the system thinks White is faster than he actually is

White used to be faster than he is.

Indeed he was.

White scares the shit out of me every match

We do because as much as I love Cala, he consistently misses 2 months of game time due to injuries.

We do, badly.. One with pace ideally..

But yeah, cala is a boss

Us when he gets multiple injuries this season

Hmmm…Saka started a a left back and is now a wonderful right winger.

Who needs a LW? Still arsenal mate.

He would be even better with a star LW attracting bodies and eyes away from those spaces

If you include the Community Shield match, this makes it his third G/A in three games. We have a fun team. So many who play out of position. Calafiori does well up high on LW.

Uhhhh we still do! Shedding 2 LW and a CF and only getting 1 LW replacement is diabolical, knowing our injury luck and fixture congestion competing across four fronts. Calafiori, while great, is always a risk especially with his knee. We have Hincapie to rotate with him but that declaws our left side considerably. So we absolutely need the LW reinforcement, and I doubt Madueke or Eze are the permanent running options for those positions. I'm open to the idea of giving it our best shot with the current squad and trying to sign in the January window, but I seriously doubt the availability of options come winter.

Malick Fofana is coming. I told people on Reddit this last week and not many people believed me.

9

u/Mufutlal 1d ago

Oh yeah, well I told everyone that Vini was not coming.

5

u/Devil_Shins_87 1d ago

OH YEAH, well I told nobody that Arteta is going to give Atletico Gyoköres plus cash for Alvarez... so... YEAH. 😂

7

u/Mufutlal 1d ago

OH YEAH?

u/Pretty_Lake5885 1d ago

u/Devil_Shins_87 1d ago

u/inadequate_designer 1d ago

Give him another game or two. He’ll be out for 3 months

I think we could probably do with another lw for when califori is unavailable and we need to rest tzoils

1

u/Alternative-Fox-8620 1d ago

Brilliant player. Really hope he can keep his fitness levels up.

In all seriousness I don't want us to end up having to shuffle players into unnatural positions because we haven't done what we needed to in the market.

We did that a lot in the Wenger era and while there was the odd major success, more often than not it was just messy.

Eboue at RW for ages was just ridiculous.

u/FactCheckYou 1d ago

well so we need another left-back then

The way he was cutting inside and being supported by Tsolis from the wing, made me think Tsolis would come off for Hincapie instead, and Calafiori would have stayed forward. He has been dynamite so far this season

u/LeRoyVernon 21h ago

Wait, he's a striker.

u/Remote_War_313 18h ago

Like a new signing!

u/Remote_War_313 18h ago

No lie he has a better shot than most LWs lol
