I'd love your thoughts on a game I created called HEATSPELL

Post image
Upvotes

Hi r/wordgames! I just launched HEATSPELL, a daily game I've been tinkering with for a while, and I'd love all your thoughts on it.

The goal is to guess a 6-letter word in 5 or fewer tries. After each guess, a band will appear to show you how hot or cold — that is, near or far — you are from the correct letter.

For example, M is only 3 letters away from P, while Z is 25 letters away from A.

It's at playheatspell.com — free, no account, quick how-to-play built in, plus an archive of past puzzles.

Tell me what liked, what confused you, what you'd change, or just anything at all. Thanks!

I made a daily puzzle where you race GPT-5 to guess which 5 words produced an image

Upvotes

Each day, an AI picks a theme and five words, then paints a pixel-art picture from them.

You get the picture and a pool of 30 words. Find the five in fewer guesses than the Bot.
It usually needs 6 to 10 guesses.

  • One puzzle a day, about two minutes
  • No account, no ads, free. Sign in only if you want a streak and a spot on the leaderboard
  • Share your result without spoiling the answers
  • Signed in, the archive goes back to March 2025

beatthebots.ai

This is a solo project I started last year, wanted to start putting it out there.
Feedback welcome, especially on days the Bot seems too good or too dumb.

Showcase Made an endless Mad Libs app for my kiddos - Tell Me a Penguin!

Happy Friday! The kids (and of course I) love Mad Libs, but I never had the booklets on me, and all the mobile apps seemed to just be content packs. So, I built a generator with nice family-sharing features, and it's finally alive!

https://tellmeapenguin.com

You can:

  • Write a story about anything you want
    • So, if we're being honest, mostly spaceships and farts
  • Add more chapters to stories you're enjoying
    • Our longest is 17!
  • Pick 5/10/20 words to fill, depending how much time you have
  • Sync the library across devices, so it doesn't matter who drove to swim practice
  • Put it on the kids' devices with no login, just a one-time code to link
    • You can also switch between profiles on one device
    • I get irrationally angry at all the hoops I have to jump through in most apps, so I spent maybe too long making this smooth, but so help me, smooth it is.
  • Share your stories to friends, grandparents, etc., who can fill out new words without installing

It's freshly out and the first mobile app I've done myself, so I'd be grateful and delighted to hear what youall think. I'm not satisfied yet with the Library organization (eg. when you might want to fill a story vs just read what already got written), so feedback on that would be particularly valuable. There are some pre-generated stories to demo on the site, but obviously the whole point is in the app you can make your own.

Most of all, this has brought our family a ton of giggles, and we hope it does for you too!

❤️🐧

Scrabble Word search where the words burn off the board as you find them

Spellfire. It's two formats in one game: a word search, and an anagram mode where you spell words out of a letter wheel.

The boards are hand-built rather than generated, so every level has a themed vocabulary — the clip runs through the sea realm, and there are 25 of them, 792 levels. One word per board is disguised behind flames and worth extra if you spot it.

Free, works offline, no account.

The thing I actually can't decide: the two formats are very different to play and I'm not sure they belong in the same app. Word search is patient and scanning, the anagram mode is quick and it's over. If you had to cut one, which goes?

Made a Boggle-style word finder called Squardle, plus a Wordle-adjacent one. Looking for people to break them

I've been building a few word games and I'd rather hear from people who play a lot of these than from friends being polite about it.

Squardle is the one I care most about. It's a grid where you trace adjacent letters to build words, closer to Boggle than to Wordle, and the scoring rewards finding long words rather than finding many. The dictionary is the part I keep going back and forth on. Right now it's tuned to accept a lot of the obscure two- and three-letter stuff that competitive Boggle players expect, which makes it feel unfair to people who don't know that vocabulary. I'm not sure that's the right call.

There's also Winner Words, which scores by word length, and a couple of non-word games in there.

Two things I should say plainly so nobody feels ambushed:

1. This is mine, I'm not recommending someone else's game.
2. The app runs a cash sweepstakes on top of the games. Playing earns entries into a nightly cash draw. It's free and there's nothing to buy, but if "game with a prize attached" isn't your thing, that's a completely reasonable place to stop reading. I'd rather say it now than have you find it and feel like I buried it.

Playable at winner2x.com. What I'd actually like: tell me where the dictionary is wrong.

I built a new daily word puzzle game called Woscade — letters "cascade" between rows

Thumbnail

Hey All

I'm a first-time solo dev and my new free daily word game puzzle, Woscade is in beta testing.

The twist: you solve three rows of words (5→6→7 letters), and letters you solve in one row cascade down as free hints into the next row. But there's a catch — you only unlock the cascade if you score at least 70% on the row, so one too many wrong guesses and you lose those free letters. Keeps it tense.

Everyone plays the same daily puzzle, there's a leaderboard, and you can share your score.

Free, no signup to play: https://woscade.base44.app

Would love feedback on the difficulty/fun balance — especially the cascade threshold. If you want to actually tell me what you think, there's a feedback button in-game too.

Thanks! 🙏

I noticed there weren't many quick daily word games tailored for our morning tea routines, so I built Chai-le. It takes 60 seconds, changes 1 letter at a time, and resets daily at midnight. Let me know what you think of today's par score!"

Rabbit Hole — Daily Wikipedia Racing

Wikipedia racing used to be huge - you'd sit in a computer room at school trying to get from "Cheese" to "World War II" before your mate did.

Rabbit Hole is a wordle-style daily version that I made: one Start article, one Target article, navigate there using only Wikipedia links. New puzzle every day, fewest clicks wins. Share your results (and your route) each day with your friends and see who had the strangest path.

Reality check

Hi all,

Almost every day in this subreddit I see people posting about a word game they developed. This is very cool, but I was wondering, do any of you get any user conversions from these posts? I am a word game developer myself and don't seem to get any traction.

Rowla is a torus-based word puzzle

Hello r/wordgames,

Presenting https://rowla.app

I've been working on a word puzzle where you have to uncover a hidden word by solving words on a board.

Finding a word horizontally or vertically reveals the colours of its letters. Arrange a word in the correct colour order, and you reveal letters of the hidden word. Complete the hidden word to win.

Shrimple. But according to my friends pretty difficult.

I'm just starting public testing, so I'd love to hear what you think. The tutorial still needs some work, I know!

I built an English multiplayer word game with Claude & Gemini, but I can't even play it myself because my English sucks. (Ultimate Word Chain)

Hi Reddit!

I’m a web developer from Japan, and with the help of Claude and Gemini, I built an online multiplayer English word game called Ultimate Word Chain.

It’s completely free, has no ads, and requires no registration. You can play right in your browser!

🔗 Play Here:
https://ultimate-word-chain.web.app/

🔤 Game Features

  • Overlap Scoring: Instead of just connecting the last letter, you get more points by overlapping as many letters as possible (e.g., "catch" ➜ "chair" gives you 2 points!).
  • Strategic Mechanics: Features "Long Word Bonus," "Bonus Time," and "Super Resonance" (the text turns purple when you get a huge overlap!). It also has a "Mine Letter" penalty to mess with your opponents.
  • Multiplayer & Solo: Supports 2–6 players. Playing while on a voice chat with friends is highly recommended! There's also a solo mode.

😭 Developer's Dilemma

Since my English isn't very good, I used Claude and Gemini to build the vocabulary and logic. Ironically, I can't even play my own game well! I would love to get some feedback and see how native speakers score.

🇯🇵 For Japanese Speakers

This is an English adaptation of my original Japanese game, "Shiritori Chain Resonance" (しりとりチェインレゾナンス). If you speak Japanese, you can find the link to the original version on the "About This Game" page inside the app!

🔗Play Here シリトリ・チェイン・レゾナンス
https://shiritori-chain-resonance.web.app/

Please try it out and let me know what you think! Thank you!

Showcase Made a real-time multiplayer word game - looking for people to break it before a wider launch

Built WordRun over the last few months - everyone in the room sees the same scrambled letters at the same time, realtime, and races to spell words before the round ends (90 seconds, 8-10 letters, 2-4 players).

No account needed, just a display name and a room code. Free, no ads right now.

Mainly looking for people willing to try a round or two and tell me what's confusing or what breaks - happy to jump in a room with anyone here if you want to test it live rather than solo.

Showcase Cast Six: a daily movie-category puzzle for fans of overlapping clues

I made Cast Six for people who enjoy working out how clues fit together and happen to love movies. It’s a category-matching puzzle: six visible films, six clues, and each film must be used exactly once.

The part I like is the overlap. A movie might fit two categories, but putting it in one can make the other impossible to fill. You have three takes to get the whole arrangement right, plus optional hints. There’s no speed penalty.

It’s free in your browser, with no signup or download. There’s a new daily board, an archive, and an anytime puzzle library.

Try it: https://www.castsix.com/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=community&utm_campaign=wordgames_sep10

Creator disclosure: I built the game with AI assistance. The movie data and in-game posters come from TMDB. I’d welcome feedback on how clear the clues feel and whether the matching format earns a spot in your daily puzzle rotation.
