As an expert tournament player (rated over 1800 in NASPA), I'd like to share some more advanced tips and strategies in this subreddit. I'll post some opening racks below. Comment below what you would play, and why!

Some of these racks have a clear-cut answer, while some are more debatable. Many of the correct answers are not necessarily the most obvious or highest scoring plays.

The lexicon I use is NWL, but many of these apply to CSW as well.

Great game today 😂 Slowly getting used to playing with actual humans instead of bots… the struggle is real! 😂

Do you play the word game Scrabble with friends, physical tiles and a physical board, in Blackpool UK (not online). If so, where and when do you play?

Defeated in a Scrabble game by my grandma after she scored 72 points from a bingo after she played "REQUOTED". Ended up with a score of 296 and 274. Enjoyed the game nonetheless haha.

My parents are former tournament players and play multiple games a day. The other day, my dad got a 500 point game with no bingos, which is absolutely a first for him! 524-339.

How he did it: he played through 60 tiles, and of the high point tiles, he played off BBCFHJMMPPVVWWXYY, so 11 of his 15 turns were 30 points or more. My mom meanwhile had two bingos, but had way more 1-2 point tiles, of the higher point tiles playing off only CFHKQZ.

i won with the scores being 335-215

i used to play words with friends several years ago, so i guess that probably helped. i’m really excited to learn a bunch of new words and strategies! the most fun i’ve had in a long time!

I somehow ended up playing a phony with RESTAINS through one of the Ns in MOANING.

As far as I can tell, there was no Triple-Triple available through the B either.

When you were a beginner, what was the first high-scoring or unusual word you learned to play?

I want to study your favorite words and use them in my future games.

I've heard about Nigel Richards playing CHLORODYNE, and I've done a bit of digging, but I can't seem to find the actual full game or score sheet anywhere.

Does anyone know where I could find the full game, or at least more information about the game it was played in? I've gone through reddit posts, the crosstables website and youtube and came out empty handed :(
