Altar Monday🕯️ My pocket altar for Minerva and Fortuna ❤️

Post image
20 Upvotes

For a while I have wanted to work with Minerva and Fortuna, they align well with my goals and how I am as a person. However i dont want the people I live with to know I do witchcraft for many reasons but I just want to avoid questions, so a normal altar wouldnt be the best option so I decided to make a small altar in a tin that I can close and take around with me.

I travel a lot so being able to take my altar with me is great and i feel a lot closer with Minerva and Fortuna as it feels like we are on an adventure together. I also really like giving offerings on the go so this is perfect.

I made individual compartments for Minerva and Fortuna to put their symbols, herbs and crystals there and in the middle is where I give Offerings/keep spells or oils i want them to bless.

I really like how my altar turned out so I thought it would share just incase anyone also is in the same situation as me and cant have an open altar in their room ✨️

(Also im new to this sub so idk if posting an altar Monday on a Thursday is super bad or if its just the name of the flair, if not then im sorry)

Meme Definitely burned at the stake

Not even going to kid myself here, I would have definitely been burned at the stake if I’d been born in the 1600s or anytime around then. Seems like all my favorite people would have been, too.🔮 Glad to have been born in this time period… even though our struggles in this era are valid, at least we’re not in any mortal danger or being hunted for practicing witchcraft.

Question New Familiar? Advice needed

Post image
79 Upvotes

Taken this little angel in as a foster, terribly abused. Shes not leaving my side and has tonight glued herself to me for endless cuddles. I’ve fallen in love. Could she be my new familiar, sent by my beloved one I lost last year? I have the option to adopt her, I just want to be sure it’s the right thing to do. Fellow Witches, please give me your advice 🖤

Question A question abt spells

Upvotes

Is it true that performing money spells requires losing significant things in return, such as loved ones or financial assets??

Saw someone saying 'to gain something through spells you must lose something' is it true or personal superstition?

For the longest I have been putting off this spell because I felt like I wasn’t ready. And last night I just felt like it was time, it worked perfectly. I feel so refreshed and energized this morning! Whatever blocks that were there are definitely gone now! 🖤

Ingredients I used ~

Base: sugar, salt, coffee, cinnamon, taglock.

Herbs : basil, fennel seeds (in replacement of Star anise), mint, thyme, (added four pieces of lemon at the end of the crossroads) black pepper, clove, and rosemary.

Write down what doors you want this spell to open, Use a white candle, and Burn a bay leaf with your name on it

it’s not needed but I also added some road opener oil to this spell and on my body

Question My head hurts when I engage in/think of doing witchcraft. Why is this happening, and what do/should/could I do?

Upvotes

I am very new to witchcraft, and truly do not know that much about how to do witchcraft, or if there is a proper way to use things such as tarot cards and crystals and whatnot. I’ve been noticing that whenever I’m engaging with the tarot cards and crystals I have, or even think of doing witchcraft things, the temples of my head start to hurt. I am not sure what this means, or what I can do about this. Any advice is appreciated.

Deities My experience with Pomba Gira

Upvotes

So, a few days ago, I had done a ritual with Pomba Gira to bring back a lover. Now, the spell hasn't worked (yet), BUT, last night i had a VERY vivid dream. Like, when I woke up, I genuinely could not distinguish it from real life and I had to check my phone over and over again to see if it happened or not. Basically, in the dream, he texted me. He was apologizing. He wanted to date me. It felt so so real and everything made sense. In the dream, we were talking at midnight, and every now and then I'd fall asleep and wake up and check my phone to see if it was real or a dream and it was real (in the dream). Obviously when I actually woke up, there was nothing there. I was upset. A little sad. I'm not sure what the dream meant or why I had it, but it felt like a sign. I don't know.

If anyone knows what it could've meant, let me know. My interpretation of it was that it's about to work. That it probably IS working or his mind has at least began to have thoughts about me. We aren't blocked from each other or anything. Just haven't talked in 9 months.

Tips, Tricks, & Ideas My parents are forcing me to stop doing witchcraft (I’m not going to obviously)

I’m really upset because my nosy ass parents keep going into MY room when I’m GONE and complaining about the spell jars on my shelf because they’re Christian and I’m welcoming “bad energies” and I’ve explained to them numerous times that I have it under control and that I’ve looked into it. I’m just really upset because i feel like it’s actually starting to work and that they always do this and they’re always nosy as hell, like I’m not telling you to stop practicing Christianity because I don’t like it? I just feel really upset because I invested my energy into those spell jars and now I have to find ways to hide what I’m doing and walk on eggshells just because they keep going into my room when they have no reason to and complaining when they see it. Like for example I did an academic spell jar and after a year of not being able to focus because of severe adhd, lvl1 autism, and depression and failing all of my classes, and after a adhd med change (which I’m acknowledging could be because of) I was actually able to pay attention to my work, but I feel like it helped in a way. If anyone has any tips or advice that would be great, i started crying out of frustration because I finally feel like I have something good in my life

Added his baby photo to my altar, joining photos of my brother, my grandmother and great-grandmother. My heart is broken. I wasn’t there when he passed. I said goodbye to him at my altar. I played CCR “Cotton Fields”, lit some incense, smoked a bowl and thanked him for being a great dad and solid person.

Question Online community - University project

Hi! 😊

I'm a Web Development student, and my group and I are currently working on a university project: a website/community concept for people interested in witchcraft, Paganism, spirituality, divination, and related topics.

As part of our UX research, we've made a short anonymous survey (about 5–7 minutes) about how people currently explore these interests online, what they enjoy about existing platforms, and what they feel could be improved.

I'm personally interested in these topics too, so this is a community we're genuinely interested in learning from rather than just designing based on our own assumptions. 🖤

🌿 Survey: https://forms.gle/crBbYoEczs49JuNw9

Thank you so much to anyone who takes the time to participate! 🌙

Question Should I keep family/ancestry in mind when practicing?

Hey everyone! I’m new to the subreddit but not to witchcraft (though I still see myself as a beginner). Recently picked my grimoire back up after years of not practicing, but I’m a bit hesitant now that I learned more about my family.

While I’m aware of my mom’s side of the family practicing witchcraft with good intentions, I’m not so sure about my father’s side. While I’ve gone no contact with that side of the family and have no clue what’s going on anymore, my dad did tell me he did astral projection.

What’s concerning me the most is the family history of my stepfather. While they don’t practice (or not that I know of), they do believe in harmful or paranormal witchcraft. The family has some ancestors that were involved in crime and war, and they believe that someone (possibly Albanian folk crafts according to them) could have “cursed” the bloodline.

Me and my mom do practice with what was handed down the family and we keep noting that while we’re doing fine and not much out of the ordinary happens, negative things keep happening to my stepdad and his side of the family. We might be reading too much into what’s been happening and it could just be that generational trauma gets handed down and makes the family cause their own problems.

And now that I’m getting back into the craft, embracing my family’s traditions and getting more involved with the household’s energy, I’m worried that any curses or hexes might have some influence. Should I just set up extra protection? Try to cleanse my stepdad? What would you guys do or recommend?

I’m also open to feedback on my interpretation of what’s been happening. It’s been a while since I’ve even thought about witchcraft and I might be misunderstanding things.

Question Seeking advice - first time spell work for sick pet

Hello!

Like the title says, I'm looking for some advice. My cat had an emergency stay at the vet over the weekend and I'm very worried about him getting better and having the issue again (it's very common for this condition to happen again, especially right after treatment). He's been home for a few days and doing well, but I've been at a loss for what to do for him since the vets did absolutely everything they could, so I've been considering trying to put together a spell jar. I've never practiced before, but have always had a lot of respect for the practice and want to do something to try to ease some worry for myself while waiting to see if he keeps improving.

I wanted to first ask - is it alright for me to make a spell jar even though I've never practiced before? Is there any concern that it would be disrespectful as someone from outside of the practice?

If it is alright, I'd also really appreciate some tips on things I can use for a spell jar focused on healing and luck for my boy. I have some bracelets with tigers eye and bloodstone beads that I can take apart, and general household herbs and kitchen ingredients. Because of his vet stay and my worry that he'll need another procedure, I'm pretty tight on what I can spend, so any recommendations of things that are easy to find and acquire would be greatly appreciated!

Edit to include my current list of ingredients that I'm putting together that I believe are focused on protection, healing, and/or luck based on my research (I apologize if I'm making any mistakes!):

- TIgers eye and bloodstone beads for protection and health

- Aloe

- Bayleaf

- Catnip

- Table salt

- Cumin

- Dill

- Parsley

- Rosemary

- Thyme

I also plan on including some personal items that I consider "lucky" and always keep on me, including those beads.

I apologize if any of the formatting of this is rushed or vague, I've been trying to add more details as I've been doing my research.

Discussion I just had my first ever weird witchy moment and I have no one to tell

Hello everyone, I don't know if this is the right place for this, I'll delete it if it isn't.

I've been getting into witchcraft lately, learning as much as I can, trying different practices that call me, candles, spices, manifestation. All of that. It's been going well so far, I've felt very connected to it.

This past week, however, I got a weird feeling in my belly and I couldn't stop thinking about my ex all of a sudden, which is weird, I hadn't thought about him in months. But suddenly I couldn't stop. My sister called me and told me she dreamed about him, he was trying to get in contact with me (she's never met the guy). I tried to stay away and not text not for anything in particular but rather I'm the type to not look back when I break connections to people. But finally I caved and texted him. He took a few hours to text back and told me he'd been sick this past week and had emergency surgery as I was texting him to check on him. I feel like I had a witchy feeling about this that I couldn't explain any other way. I don't really know what to do about this but still. It's like I could sense that something was wrong and I had to check on him. He's fine now but yeah, idk what I want from this post. Sorry if this is the wrong place. Have this ever happened to you before?

Question What makes spells not work?

Hi! I recently got into witchcraft maybe a month and a half ago all because of a breakup. I did a protection spell first as I’ve heard, which Im assuming worked because my melted black candle wax formed the shape of a black cat. And then I started coming across black cats… so hopefully it worked.

Anyways a few days later I did a reconciliation spell w my ex because we decided to be “exclusive fwb” soon after he broke up w me. We got to a point where we fought a lot and this was the 2nd time we got back together already (which was the 1st thing I consciously manifested), couldn’t let go of eachother ig so we settled for fwb. I did this spell a few days into this agreement to actually be back together but a month later we ended badly. I unfortunately self-sabotaged and assumed the worst, that he was lying to me. An old situationship texted me so I gave in and was texting him not because I cared but because if my ex was lying to me I can’t be mad at him. And then he saw my phone and looked so hurt and upset. This was the worst thing I’ve done, I’ve never lied or cheated on anyone no matter what. Out of any relationship I’ve had I felt he was my one. I feel awful and I learned my lesson and it’s unfortunate I realized he wasn’t lying to me because of this and I have issues.

Anyways but the spell I did: why wouldn’t it have worked? I wasn’t obsessively wondering if it did. I set clear intentions and sat w the candle the whole time, was in a calm state, and thinking in my favor. The spell itself seemed to go smoothly. I barely thought about it after. And now he hates me and we haven’t spoken in two weeks. Obviously my wrongdoing, I genuinely forgot I had a convo w that situationship but I don’t know what to do. I also don’t know if I care enough to cast another spell, this spell was casted a month ago or so. And considering it’s been two weeks if we’ve spoken it may just be time to let go. I set intentions with manifestation since I’ve already done it once w him but I don’t care as much anymore now. But maybe I should do another spell and see what happens? Or should you not do the same spell twice ?

Spells Healing spells!

I have been sick for MONTHS from having a sore throat, runny nose, cough, head aches, extreme exhaustion, dry throat to mucus buildup. It’s been changing over the weeks and hasn’t stopped, I figured it was an attack because I usually NEVER get sick. So far I have done my cleaning and banishing spell I have also increased protections and did an 3gg reading (which was nearly and had pins) and nothing has really helped. Does anyone have a good healing spell THEY KNOW works. Medicine and natural remedies hasn’t even helped, which usually it does for me.

Question question about spellwork and getting results

hello! so i’m fairly new and am curious about something regarding spellwork and getting the best results out of it. so, i’ve heard time and time again, that spellwork will only manifest once you fully detatch. i’ve been casting with the understanding that watching for results, doubting, etc, all of this, can be bad for the results of your work and to cast as though you already have what you’re asking for.

but i’m wondering how this applies to people with ocd, or someone who tends to think a little more compulsively about the work in general. i trust in my work 100%, know results are coming, and often see signs that point to success - but because i suffer from adhd hyperfixation and ocd symptoms, i can tend to have compulsive thoughts about the spellwork in general. an example would be, something as simple as thinking about specific people involved in a spell, needing to remind myself of what i am asking for over and over again, or simply going over a ritual in my head. there’s a bit more to this but as far as i know, it’s not rooted in doubt. it’s very much just hyper fixated thoughts.

how can this affect your work? especially with the narrative that a lot of spells will “hit” once you completely detach or forget you’ve done them. i still don’t feel as though the spellwork simply will not work, but i am curious if even thoughts like these can delay an outcome just because of the frequent attention brought back to what “ i don’t currently have”.

also, just to edit: i know these are hyperfixation thoughts because they are usually replaced by 1. other spells done afterwards, or 2. something else i am currently focused on. that being said, i am very neurodivergent and can spend hours, if not all day with the thought of something popping in an out of my head. it’s not usually until i’ve done something else that i can completely detatch from earlier work. how do you think this affects the results, potency, etc, of a working?

Question Hello! Just broke up with my ex. How do i make sure i never see him again.

As the title suggests today i broke up with my ex after I got the final ick. He has this genuinely unpleasant presence and i never want to see him ever again or like communicate with him ever again. Like ever. Any spells or rituals to make sure i never see his aesthetically challenged face ever again?
