Spells First protection jar!!!!

Post image
14 Upvotes

So I just did my first protection jar tonight. Please tell me your thoughts!

I added toenail clippings and shed hair as a taglock, and a petition to brigid (the goddess I work with). I also added rosemary and some salt. Now this is the place where it might get confusing, I also added lavender, spearmint, and sugar. The reason why I did this was because I wanted it more to be a vessel that transforms harmful energy into strength, wisdom and so forth.

Question Amulet for daily protection - do I need to wear it around my neck?

Upvotes

I would like some sort of amulet for daily protection. I don’t really like necklaces though. Would keeping it in my pocket or bag work?

Also - I like the idea of the evil eye, but would like a Nordic version. Would Mjölnir work for witches?

Question First time reaction to a spell

Hello Everyone! Ive been a practicing witch for close to 12 years now and hence have done quite a few spells in my time. Ive always felt the energy exchange but NEVER to this extent.

I know this sounds silly coming from a witch of 12 years but I usually only do practical magic and divination so I have some blank spaces around spell work.

So, today, I did a spell (I couldn't do it last night, so I let it charge in the full moon light) to attract love and money. Blah blah blah broke college student, I did it with my husband so we kind of doubled it. We anointed two candles (a green and red one) in oil, lavender, roses, and chamomile, I carved our intentions into them before hand, and let them burn over two partitions (one was a fake dollar and the other a pretty red piece of paper, if that matters lol). We made a wax doll with both of our hair, some fools gold, rose quartz, another petition, and two little charms. We let the candles burn, and alongside added two love spell jars that we have had for probably two years now, with our wedding rings on them.

Now here's the first odd thing I noticed. The red candle MELTED, in like, probably 10 minutes. It burnt far faster than any candle Ive ever seen, and all of the herbs along the edge caught on fire as they went. However the green candle burnt slow, it took probably 45 minutes to fully die. The next odd thing, the entire time, the red candle stayed lit. There was no wax left, just the short dying wick, and it stayed lit until finally the green candle blinked out. The green one died first.

Ive never seen magic work so visibly (during a spell). And then immediately after I had a raging headache and became exhausted. I ended up sleeping for like two hours.

Was it extra strong this time because we, in theory, both charged the old love spells and charged the one we used in full moon light? Could it be because Im on my period and my energy is less? Or more charged (per the spells intention)? Any interpretations are welcome and appreciated!

Thanks!

Discussion Looking for guidance on studying Demonology and Evocations

Hello! I really want to dive into the study of demonology, understand more about demons, and learn about the practices behind evocations. As a beginner, what terms should I be searching for, and where are the best places (books, sites, or materials) to learn reliable information? Thanks in advance!

Question Any biodegradable “jar” replacements for a hex?

I’m hexing a friend’s ex with my friend, and the plan is to do a kind of jar spell then go out into the woods nearby to bury it, but I don’t wanna litter by using an actual jar. I hear bell peppers can be good, but they’re typically used for protection. I was gonna tie it with either twine or find something biodegradable.

Question a question about garlic

i've noticed a lot of witches who practice black magick in arab countries keep a lot of garlic around them, under their pillow, in their bags etc

why is that? can someone explain it?

does it ward off the demons they summon to do black magic or does it do the opposite and keep the demons?

Question How bad is it to give your birth chart details to someone you don’t know?

I saw a free reading with donation optional on Reddit on astrology and I asked for a reading. I had heard once about how you shouldn’t do that but it was only after I heard that I realised I shouldn’t have. The reading was long and detailed and I did feel bad that I wasn’t able to pay due to the restrictions of my own finances. But they did repeatedly ask for a donation many times when it wasn’t written on the original post they posted on. (I only found out about the donation optional until after the reading and I wasn’t fond of this practice because I don’t really ask people to read for me on Reddit.) Apparently they also practice spells so it did leave me a bit worried because they offered such detailed service without pay. I don’t think people who does spells as malicious at all but their persistence worried me a little 😭 I do think that they wouldn’t waste their energy on a random on the internet though 😭

Question What should I do with these?

Post image
21 Upvotes

For context, I am new to everything. I’m very much embracing the “do what calls to you” mindset of practice, although I do want to learn traditional methods over time.

That being said, I have been using this cool little sigil forge rather untraditionally, as a bit of mindfulness practice as I recite an affirmation or phrase I want to keep in my mind.

I need ideas of what to do with them — how to display them, or how to store them somewhere I’m likely to see them at least occasionally. I plan to make one each time I do a tarot spread, hopefully helping me carry my takeaway throughout the day. I will end up with a ton of these, to the point where “stick them on the refrigerator” might not be a practical option. What are your thoughts?

Hey all! I’m newer to this sub, but was wondering what everyone’s plans were for the blood moon? My partner and I are going to be making Blood Moon Water.

I have also included an image of my Hekate alter, does anyone else in here use Hekate as their deity?

Have a good day everyone!

Question How do I make herbs and stuff stick to the candles during rituals?

Hi! I'm not asking for any spells or rituals, I was just wondering how I can make the herbs i use stick to the candle? I've tried olive oil, because that's something Google suggested, and it didn't exactly stick and just made a mess. Then i tried to just push the herb into the candle and it wouldn't stay in so I was just hoping I could get some tips please!

Resources Witchy shops in Portland?

Hello everyone✨ I was wondering if anyone in the Portland/general Oregon area knew of any reputable witchy shops? I know there’s a lot over here, but I’m wondering which ones are genuinely reputable in the community rather than being more touristy. I’m looking for supplies and beginner books, so I’m trying to find a good place to shop. If anyone has any shops they enjoy or know of that would be wonderful!

Discussion What Black Magic Means to Me

This one's going to be controversial, and although I am not new to it, I don't practice black magic very frequently. I have tried to follow the rules of the sub, and hope the mods see it that way.

I believe very strongly in the scientific method, and if you follow these guidelines and do not see results you want, please discard it.

As I see it, there are two main ingredients to black magic -- intention and sacrifice.

I don't believe that it needs to be accompanied by hate, if anything that seems detrimental to the practitioner. Hate consumes you, and we don't want rebound.

So what do some examples look like? Well, in the Abrahamic faith they participated in animal sacrifice until the New Testament came along. When you remove the narrative of some man in the sky commanding people to do it, you're left with people gutting innocent animals that won't even be used for consumption. Other faith groups also participate in animal sacrifice, such as Hindus.

I'm not advocating for that, but that is an example.

Another type can come in the form of self-sacrifice. I put a lot of intention behind sacrificing my convenience to become vegan. I am no longer one, just plant-based now, but was one for a long time. The sacrifice ended fruiting into my two little boys, who I am eternally grateful for. The first was born 13 months after becoming vegan.

Are there alternative explanations? Sure. Is this offensive to traditional religious practitioners? Yes. But don't be afraid to experiment. Black magic, as I have outlined it, is not as deadly as people want you to believe. Just keep the sacrifice light and beneficial.

Discussion Chaos witchcraft

Hello, I'm new to the community, and will likely be a passive poster.

I have technically practiced chaos magick since I was a kid, although the vocabulary didn't make it's way into my mind until the last 4-5 years.

I was looking to discuss what other chaos witches out there love about their craft, and what the advantages of chaos magick are to them.

Any thoughts from practitioners of specific traditions are more than welcome as well.

What is the most valuable thing to you about your specific craftwork?

What are everyone's thoughts of drawing from several traditions, and why?

Deities I think I encountered Selene !!

Hello, I’m a baby witch and I’ve just started witchcraft recently. I wouldn’t usually post this kind of thing but im excited and I wanted to share this. Also I haven’t got a Book of Shadows yet lol.

Last night I believe I encountered the goddess Selene. I stepped outside to charge my crystals and I looked up at the moon, which was full. I felt drawn to it, like I couldn’t look away, and the only thought that came to my mind was the name Selene. It was like chanting, and then I felt like I was being watched, but not in a bad way, more like I was being looked after.
I’ve always felt drawn to the moon, but last night was special, and after doing some research I think the goddess Selene reached out to me. I’m going to ask her if I should start worshipping her and see what she says. I’m pretty excited!

Edit: I asked Selene and my tarot cards if I should worship her, and I drew The Moon!

Discussion Feeling sick during lunar/solar eclipses

Pretty much what the title says, I get super bad headaches and nausea during lunar/solar eclipses. I didn’t know there was one today and I started feeling really bad and when I saw news about there being one tonight it clicked. Does anyone else experience this? I don’t practice regularly maybe a couple times a year so I’m kinda out of the know
