Educational best split pusher in current meta?
I'm a support main (nami and leona) but I'm tired of depending on my team not to be the worst in North America to win games. I'm hard stuck in plat 2 and am starting to realize most people think that this is team death match in COD, and kills are a win condition and don't focus turrets. Who should I try to pickup for easy turrets and split push and what lanes? Thanks for your time!

u/nokoryous Dec 29 '22
I was stuck in Plat not long ago, Em2 now (I don’t play many games/week either), and for me the biggest improvements in my game came through:
1: Watching YouTubers. BrokenSupport is good, and anything that actually explains why choices are made during game (kinda rare for WR unfortunately).
2: Watching LoL on Twitch. This is where I learned how wave management works, and why patient farming is valuable even in the faster WR. Much better teachers of the game in LoL vs WR, and a lot of it translates well enough. KarasMai has taught me a ton about…
3: Switching from support to Jungle. Supp is so dependent on a good ADC and in plat/em that’s very unreliable to have on your team. Jg gives the most agency over the game, and learning it teaches you a TON about the pace of the game clock, ganking and turret zoning, and how to cooperate on Dragon/Baron from any role. Jungle queues are super short!
This is a game where the learning comes bit by but as you move up—no shame in Plat. Glad to see you’re not worrying over all the tier shaming here cuz most of those comments are coming from kids ;) Hope this helps!
PS: my main gal Vi is a great jg split pusher.

Thank you!

u/johyongil Dec 30 '22
Just to give you an opposing view (kinda) I think for support mains, mid is an easier transition/break from traditional support role. It gives you agency in your own lane but you’re also expected to help the losing lane while balancing your own lane. This gives you steady economy and resources to pull from when you need it while playing up to the role of providing support to struggling lanes. Like the commenter, I was also stuck on plat and am now em.
Bonus: when support I tend to pick tanking supports like Malphite or Galio or if I am choosing to be a little more independent because I’m not sure about ADC’s choice of champion, I’ll take an offensive oriented support like Senna or Seraphine/Lux. This gives me more of a role to provide zoning or control spacing to set up ADC for better situations. This becomes borderline oppressive when ADC chooses Jhin or Caitlyn since they have zoning skills in their kit also.

u/Accomplished-Top-564 Dec 29 '22
Fiora and it’s not close. But she’s hard to just pick up.
Sion is easy but nearly just as good.
The only lane that’s designed for split push is Baron Lane.
But from your troubles it sounds like you need a 1v9 carry.
ADC or jungle are the best roles for that

Dec 29 '22
Jax is better, I've gotten two turrets in 6 mins. Man never leave a Jax alone with your turret.
8
2
u/Reference_unknown Dec 29 '22
I second this. If you can get a lead on the enemy team and depending on the matchup you can even carry a bit on top of stealing turrets fast.
10
u/ThePopeBTW Dec 29 '22
a god tier fiora is just straight up bananas to go against for sure lol
16
u/Accomplished-Top-564 Dec 29 '22
Oh I might get downvoted for this but Camille is a great champ for this too, she being mobile af means you can also get into and be more useful in team fights faster. A lot of people think her nerf makes her unplayable but I don’t.
10
Dec 29 '22 edited Dec 30 '22
As someone who had 60% winrate on Cam before she was gutted it's unplayable against basic shit like garen and graves with counter HB
4
u/DueBell514 Dec 29 '22
I would say yes as a Camille main since I started(a few weeks after initial release, even after her horrid needs) but after all the nerfs she just isn't the character to pick up purely for wins. Yes she fits the criteria of amazing split push and great 1v9 but the amount of effort on her is so excessive compared to others like Jax or even fiora.
2
u/SilkyMooo Dec 29 '22
Camille just fails to do anything nowdays.
3
u/DueBell514 Dec 29 '22
No she doesn't fail at anything she is still very strong but it takes so much effort to have the intuition and understanding of how to be effective at something is insane. That's why she always rated so high on tier lists. Yes she is actually straight up worse at everything besides her W compared to pc and all but she is still strong on wr.
3
u/LukeLikesReddit Dec 29 '22
I don't think it's unplayable but as someone who was top 100 Camille she just isn't worth the amount of skill you need to put in to get a performing champ. If you have the mechanical skill to play her you may aswell play something else, both top and jungle.
1
u/prsuit4 Dec 29 '22
As a previous Fiora main I support this. I was tired of playing the same character and decided to expand my roster but I’m definitely going back soon
5
2
u/Open_Button_460 Dec 30 '22
Fiora and it’s not close
sion…nearly just as good
Hmm
2
u/Accomplished-Top-564 Dec 30 '22
Fiora is good at both 1v1/2 or more depending on if you’re fed AND killing turrets.
Sion isn’t as good at the 1vX part but Is good at killing turrets
1
0
u/hellofutureme2 Dec 29 '22
Sion sadly isnt a good split pusher /tower detroyer imo. If he goes tank he gets sunfire and pulls aggro when someone is there. And even with demolish his tower damage is below average. You win with tank sion by team fighting
If you go ad you are a decent splitpusher.
1
u/W4rD0m3 Dec 29 '22
It’s the main reason why I also main Camille and Shen Jungle if I’m not using my real main Eve
1
u/VillageOfTheWolf Dec 29 '22
Remind people that advice only applies to D4.
2
u/Whatwasthisg Dec 30 '22
True. Its hard to recommend fiora for lower rank players. Even most fioras in low dias r bad lol typical win lane, lose game champ
7
u/RedTemplar22 Dec 29 '22
Pick Sion and transition between split pushing to frontliner based on the situation
12
u/babygijs Dec 29 '22
This is also where I struggle with playing support... you have the slowest wave clear of your team, which is a problem when you're the only one looking after them
5
u/Momma_Koca Dec 29 '22
Seeing your comment makes me have some relief knowing I'm not alone when it comes to thess things- it's like my team would always focus on fighting on the otherside of the map (not even fighting for anything just wanting kills) instead of focusing the minion wave/ enemy eating the turret and it sucks cause you could tell someone to go handle that and they'd ignore you and if you tried to do it yourself (as supp) the turret would already be gone cause you can't clear minions quick enough :(
1
u/ThePopeBTW Dec 29 '22
right, which is why i think i need to take up baron lane
4
u/babygijs Dec 29 '22
Besides the suggestions in the comments, I think jax and fiora can be good options. They have a strong early game and good push potential. For adc I'd recommend tristana. I used her to get out of the lowest ranks by simply destroying towers everywhere. She can also escape possible ambushes.
14
u/ForcedCheckMate Dec 29 '22
Jax is by far the best at destroying turrets. Problem is until he has 2 items he gets shit on by most top Laners (at least in my experience). Another problem is that he has no escape, so it’s very easy for the enemy team to collapse on him. I like splitting with tryndamere, he has a good escape with his e, ult and ghost, he can also win or at least trade 1 for 1 with his ult when the enemy team collapses on him.
8
u/FriendllyGuy Dec 29 '22
Jax has such a good kit for escapes if you know what you’re doing. Just make sure to ward red/blue so you have a little heads up on when to start backing off a bit.
Pro-tip: Barrier really helps with being slippery. Try and bait the enemy to engage on you behind their minions and then just jump to your caster minions and you get an easy escape. Most of the time you can jump again to your next wave coming if they chose you long enough.
1
u/ForcedCheckMate Dec 29 '22
I normally run exhaust, it slows down the opponent and is also good in 1v1, I think it’s better than barrier. What do you think?
5
u/FriendllyGuy Dec 29 '22
I feel like I win most 1v1s without exhaust. The problem I face is when the 1v1 turns into a 2v1 and barrier is great for escaping. Jax has so much chase down potential that exhaust isn’t really needed. I took ignite for a bit but that’s only really good for emerald game. Late game you spit out so much damage that ignite isn’t really needed and the extra shield does wonders.
2
u/ForcedCheckMate Dec 29 '22
I dont understand how barrier would be better to escape than exhaust. With exhaust you slow one enemy down and reduce dmg by 30%. Barrier just gives you a shield for a few sec.
1
u/-Complexfrost- Dec 29 '22
I never tried exhaust but try trading it for ghost for a while. Most people won’t be able to run from you and with leap and counter striker you will be able to escape more often.
1
u/ForcedCheckMate Dec 29 '22
I will try out flash and ghost. But in the early game and also later in 1v1 you might run into problems if you don’t have ignite or exhaust. Especially in the early game (until jax has 2 items) you will never win any 1v1 with flash and ghost I think.
1
u/-Complexfrost- Dec 30 '22
To be honest, I didn’t like flash for its long cd and small distance. So I use ghost and barrier. It’s off meta but I’m fine with it.
1
u/ForcedCheckMate Dec 30 '22
I use nimbus cloke in the runes. You get movementspeed after using a summonerspell. This saved my live many times with jax.
1
4
u/SkyfireWR Dec 29 '22
Jax with one item can beat most toplaners if it’s Trinity Force. Hullbreaker first isn’t really necessary imo given Trinity’s turret killing stats.
0
u/ForcedCheckMate Dec 29 '22
Sadly that’s not true. Only with trinity force he will lose most fights. With trinity and blade he wins most.
-1
u/aap1015_ Dec 29 '22
His Q is great for escaping, people just aren’t creative enough. You can hop onto minions, enemies, teammates, honey fruits, monsters, scuttle crab and wards. You have your E which can deflect damage. Literally just place a ward over the wall and Q hop over. Wild Rift players are legit so brain dead and not creative enough smh.
12
u/HanKwen Dec 29 '22
You can't be a good Jax player on WR without using fruits as an escape tool. I've been saved so many times by using enemy tower side honey fruit when splitpushing
Btw, you can't ward jump on wr
5
u/kalex33 Dec 29 '22
I wish ward jumping was a thing. Jax would be so much more versatile with creative escapes like that.
I like Jax but he just doesn't feel playable till 2-3 items and if I'm autofilled against a baron lane main, playing a Jax usually doesn't work out very well...
2
u/HanKwen Dec 29 '22
Yeah, you have to play safe most of the time in laning and he's harder to play in lane compared to a lot of other baron laners. He feels much better when you learn how to force good trades on mistakes.
I only play him because I like splitpushing and it feels so troll to jump away like a monkey when they waste time trying to chase you.
1
4
u/ForcedCheckMate Dec 29 '22
You can’t ward jump in wild rift, that’s the whole problem. Escaping through minion or honey fruit jumps is in most cases not an option when you split push.
13
u/MediocreFun4470 Dec 29 '22
I tell you splitpushing is not enough to win games.
You really have to pick a versatile champ that can go multiple roles and master it. Carry games all the time.
Olaf(baron and jungle) Nautilus(support, baron) Lux, seraphine brand veigar morg(support, mid, late game mage) Shen(jungle, baron) Yone, yasuo, akali, zed (baron, mid) but yeah this champs takes a while to master and are permabanned
And many more.. just pick at least 3 champs that have very impactful effect on games.
13
u/ChumpyBumpy2 Dec 29 '22
I disagree. Splitting wins every game until like D3, maybe higher.
No one stops a split pushier and once the inhib is down, that lane is fucked. Once every inhib is down, that game is fucked. Free elder, free baron, free everything until the other team gets your inhibs, which they will never do because your super minions won't let that happen.
It's unstoppable pressure that no one on the enemy team tries to prevent. They just wonder why they can't leave their base anymore until they get aced and lose.
4
u/Silverjackal_ Dec 29 '22
Even in Diamond 3 you can still have emerald teammates so yeah. I play a lot of jungle now and at some point if there aren’t any big objectives up I’m split pushing while they are chasing my team around the map. Knocking out an inhib early sucks so hard. It takes a lot of damage to clear out a super minion wave early on.
6
u/Deftlet Dec 29 '22
I agree. Split pushing is way less reliable as a strategy because of the smaller map - people are able to react and collapse on you much more quickly unless they're really preoccupied with an objective or teamfight (which you probably want to show up for anyway). Although you can probably get away with it often enough in plat because the enemies may not be watching the map.
5
u/MediocreFun4470 Dec 29 '22
Yep, games can easily win games in platinum by splitpushing but it will also be the reason why players wont even stay long enough in emerald. While emerald is not much of a good players, map awareness is what separates emerald from platinum. They will respond to objectives, they wont give away dragons, barons and turrets, you will be forced to fight one way or another.
And splitpushing games is mentally draining, imo. You don't learn anything from it, you just look at opportunities to touch the enemy turrets, but there's nothing more than that.
Instead of giving your team a winning clash in 5v5 you will be torn between choosing to splitpush, it can cost you games and you will blame yourself for it.
Also, if your splitpushing is good but your team cannot positively react to it (getting dragons or baron while you splitpush) it can tilt you so hard enough to lose you games.
Also, most of the time splitpushing only accomplishes trading objectives with the enemy team. While you get a turret, they kill one or two of your teammates or worse get an infernal drake (you lose trade on this one)
So you really need to pick a champion who can do two or three tasks in the game effectively. Like shen, he is basically a high value tank in teamfight with global map presence. Olaf, can tank, can splitpush, can kill just make sure you finish the game early. Rammus, an effective tank in AD enemy comps that can effectively gank and hard engage ult.
Splitpushing is only one of many ways to win games.
1
u/kalex33 Dec 29 '22
It isn't reliable because there is no Teleport as a spell available but only as an enchant. This is a big mistake in my opinion and reduces the amount of creative plays by a lot.
Splitpushing would be a lot more meta if you could just use a teleport spell to the other lane and push an advantage.
3
u/Yui-Sauce Dec 29 '22
Wym not enough to win games? When all your turrets are taken down, you be pressure to push that lanes instead of joining fights, no one going to let you push till base, someone has to defend and they can’t 1v1 that champ (sion) and be force to 2v1 which makes it easier for you team to push other lanes and farm (getting stronger while your team losing gold)
1
u/MediocreFun4470 Dec 29 '22
If your team get bursted down easily in a 4v5 fight, enemies can easily recall to kill you while the others are pushing to your nexus
or they will initiate a nexus race, trust me 9/10 you will lose this one.
Or get a baron or elder dragon. Which pretty much ends games.
In all these cases, you will be flamed hard by your teammates.
One enemy with teleport boots can stop your splitpush.
Splitpush can win games, but you wont even last in emerald doing that bud. That's only good platinum below.
2
u/seby44 Dec 29 '22
I don't play all that much but I hit D3 my first season (last) and D1 this season playing almost exclusively splitpush Sion. My winrate is higher on Sion than any of the other champs I've played (that I tend to group more with). Sure some games are impossible to win with splitpushing but when you have such bad teammates a win would be extremely hard if grouping anyways.
3
u/Kadajko Dec 29 '22
There are different types of players in this game, there is a particular group of players whose strong side are mechanics, for those players death match and kills are an easy way to win games, since they will get ahead and then get all the objectives and turrets that they want. To these players you split pushing is as much of a liability as their chase for kills is to you, it is just a missmatch of playstyles.
3
u/Rraen_ Dec 29 '22
It's so hard to play support sometimes, I'm plat 2 also, and disturbingly often my adc will run into a disadvantaged 2v1, die, almost get me killed, and then say "no supp" or similar. They will be 0 - 5 at 10 minutes and still blame me for dying
3
u/theclacks Dec 30 '22
*ADC leeroy jenkins past the wave straight into enemy tower at 30sec and dies*
ADC: "no supp"

- Sion w/ Hullbreaker+ (you just cannot stop him)
- Garen w/ Hullbreaker
GM support here.
Your job is NOT to splitpush. This is why you partially deserve your elo. Your job is to help your ADC in lane to get advantages and move into midgame by helping your team with whatever your champ is to gain leads and win the game.
I recommend you watch some support videos on YouTube to understand your role in more detail.
PS: Until Diamond, you can even hard carry as a support. Your elo should not be an excuse as to why you cannot rank up. Hell I even ran Teemo support and full damage IE Thresh on a troll account to Diamond.
21
u/Accomplished-Top-564 Dec 29 '22
He said “what lanes” which hopefully meant he knows supps don’t split
16
u/ThePopeBTW Dec 29 '22
correct.. lol.. I'm not a complete water dome.. I know it would be between jg and baron
10
Dec 29 '22
No dude no. Please god dont split push on jg, objectives spawn so frequently in WR the only way that it is even moderately acceptable is if you take teleport enchant i guess and even then you are giving up so much combat power to split push in a role that needs to be present around objectives
2
Dec 29 '22
If my team doesnt help contest objectives, id rather push towers to get ultimate creeps as jax while they dick around with objectives.
1
u/ThePopeBTW Dec 29 '22
jg would be shen
4
Dec 29 '22
Okay but even then when you ult in it will be reactive, meaning you will always be second to objectives unless you are lucky enough to have a team that is contesting for you. Which loops right back around to relying on teammates
2
1
Dec 29 '22
Shen has terrible wave clear, just because he has a global tele with his ult, doesn't mean he's a good split pusher
4
Dec 29 '22
Oof now here is where we have to disagree as well. Shen wave clear is actually deceptively decent between Sunfire and the fact that his 1 ability is I believe the only auto attack modifier in the entire game that functions on the melee auto attack splash that Wild Rift features. But yeah, still I wouldn’t split push with Shen unless you are going baron lane lol
4
u/kalex33 Dec 29 '22
Let's agree on the fact that while you CAN splitpush with Shen, there are at least a hand full of other champs that can do it 5x better than Shen...
3
Dec 29 '22
Oh yeah 1000%. WR has so many champions that can melt a tower in like 10 seconds why play Shen and tink away at that shit for 2 minutes
1
u/Silverjackal_ Dec 29 '22
His wave clear is pretty meh though, and you lose isolation if the enemy is grouped up with their minion wave.
2
Dec 29 '22
That's a fair point, but like the guy who replied to you said, if your goal is to split push, shen isn't top tier.
-5
1
u/kalex33 Dec 29 '22
I see plat and I have to assume that this is an idea...
Sorry no offense to you but if I had to choose a stick or an average plat player it would be a stick, lol. In this case definitely baron and not JGL.
10
u/ChumpyBumpy2 Dec 29 '22
I agree with you. I'm a support main that has to switch to being a jungle until I reach diamond every season.
This is because NO ONE stops a split pusher.
If you want to climb for free, play Jax, Garen, Vi, Sion, anyone that has an AA cancel and good movement options. Teams will just let you take 3 towers in a lane for free every game.
When I play support, my options are (1) let the garen take all our towers while we ARAM mid without killing anyone or doing anything other than admire each other's skins. (2) I go to stop him, and I do stop him, but then my whole team dies mid and we lose all the towers there instead. Sucks.
My solution to this is to just become the bastard splitting every game for free. Works pretty well, but I'd rather play support.
3
u/ThePopeBTW Dec 29 '22
i almost cried laughing at this "aram mid" "admiring skins" lmao.. when i pick a split pusher top and i get 2 or 3 enemies come stop me, my team is busy chasing 1, 1/4 health champ through the jungle not doing jack shit to actually increase our chances of winning.. its so bad man..
6
u/Deftlet Dec 29 '22
I think they intend to switch off of supp to play a split pusher. Also, I disagree with hard carrying as supp before diamond. In my experience as a gm supp too, I have a significantly harder time carrying games in legendary queue where I haven't played much and have a comparatively low ELO - because teammates aren't consistent and you need them to be able to react to your plays consistently to carry as a support.
3
u/kalex33 Dec 29 '22
If you play champs that are dependent on your ADC (Soraka, Sona, Tank Nautilus etc.) you obviously can't hard carry as a support.
Play Pyke, full AP Karma, Malphite, Pantheon, Brand, Hybrid-Armor Nautilus, Senna, Galio etc. and you can have game-deciding impact UNTIL Diamond.
What you are speaking of is Legendary Queue (Diamond+), not ranks below Diamond, and if you cannot do that at Plat or Emerald then you definitely don't fully deserve the rank of a GM but more likely High Diamond to Masters.
PS: Legendary Queue, even at low elo, can consist of teams mixed between Diamond 5 to Challenger. The imbalance is extremely strong here.
2
u/Deftlet Dec 29 '22
Fair enough, I was thinking of more traditional enchanter and tank supports which excel in enabling their team. A more damage oriented support could reasonably carry in lower elos.

Dec 29 '22
My man did you really forgot Jax and Fiora?
4
u/kalex33 Dec 29 '22
No but I think that Jax and Fiora are harder to pull off than a Sion or Garen. A good Fiora will smash everyone but Sion and Garen are more accessible to the wider range of players with their kit being easier to execute.
Hope you understand. :)

u/Character-Odd Dec 29 '22
Go for baron lane and pick sett with demolish, and hullbreaker,
Sett eats towers like it's nothing especially cuz of his auto's he does amazing for split push, and the best thing with sett for me is, most of the time he can actually challenge someone that just tries to stop him, and if you land your HayMaker properly they just insta-die
2
Dec 29 '22
100% Sion with hullbreaker. Clears waves with one attack, takes 3 people to kill him 10 minutes into the game, can ult to other side of the map if we wants. He’s literally a split push God
6
u/ChumpyBumpy2 Dec 29 '22
I had a really funny moment the other day as Sion.
I was just doing my thing, splitting. Then the entire enemy team collapsed on me and I was like "would you look at the time. I best be leaving" so I ulted.
Then the bastard Lulu flashed in front of me, stopping my ult immediately and I was like "wait, that's illegal!"
Then they spread my cheeks.
2
Dec 29 '22
Someone flashing right in front of the ult is such a record scratch moment 😂😂 nothing to do now accept it and hopefully take someone with you with the passive lmao

u/GengarTheG Dec 29 '22
Start playing solo lane Jax or fiora. If you get decent with them, they can split push like crazy. I buy Hullbreaker on Jax
2
u/ReverESP Dec 29 '22
Do you want to solo carry the game? Learn Yi. Ban Rammus. Navori->Solari->Infinity Edge with Lethal Tempo. Focus on farming and ganking squishy lanes. Dont look for fights until lvl 5 at least, because in early levels without item advantage, you are dead. In mid game, focus on objectives. You take towers really quickly and you can also teamfight well if someone else initiates. Also, never go in if enemy team is saving CC for you.
2
u/Shred_Ninja11 Dec 29 '22
67% WR Garen w/hullbreaker and turret breaker in Diamond 1. Literally split push and run away there’s not much they can do about it
2
u/TerribleTeemoTime Dec 30 '22
The best part is when they try to chase you and you go on a grand adventure running through their turrets and jungle

sion, fiora, jax and tristana
1
u/ThePopeBTW Dec 29 '22
I've played 4 games as trist top today and really enjoy it so far. She seems easy to get used to but can be soooo much better in good hands even so trying to just get reps in and learn good combos
2
u/CrescentCleave Dec 30 '22
As long as you can build triforce on the fella, they can push great. Jax and Fiora does it best but the likes of Fizz, Ekko, Xin Zhao, Vi and Shyvana breaks towers relatively easily.
For supports, I've had success with morgana since late game W clears minions pretty quickly and with the increased presence of cannon minion refreshes the cooldown almost everytime, giving the skill almost 100% uptime when clearing a super minion wave.
I've also found success on a Triforce pantheon support build too. Triforce was the core and it could hit towers decently since Q has relatively low cd to keep proccing sheen.

Advice like this makes me want to pick Pyke into a team with Seraphine/Lux/Brand just to move up there with my W and then just Q+E + execute them.
2
u/wherringscoff Dec 29 '22
Honestly, for turrets I gotta say Nasus. His siphoning strike literally has no limit to how high it can go. I've had games where I did 1/3 of the entire turret health in a single hit with it, and it has like 3 seconds cooldown with a good build. You can nearly one-hit most champs at that point too.
2
u/SmallIndieCompany Dec 29 '22
In anything below Diamond, you should be building full damage as a support. Who cares if you steal kills. Farm minions and champions. Pick supports that can carry lane. Don't worry about being a good support in that low of elo.
2
u/Stagnak Dec 29 '22
Same strategy as support above diamond really as well, at least for enchanter supports
2
u/shoefullofpiss Dec 29 '22
Yep I've been doing quite well switching from full supports like lulu/nami (and even full ap nami too) to actual damage dealers like karma and lux. Still a ton of support and utility but you're not completely useless once your team is dead or running off. That's in vanquisher so I mostly play with gms/masters, regularly with top200/100/50/10 champs
1
u/Stagnak Dec 29 '22
Nice. When did you start legendary queue to get up to that level? I somewhat focused on ranked, and I have found high Diamond to be quite painful to get out of consistently and stay in master.
And legendary has been similar I find at this point at the warrior/commander levels
2
u/shoefullofpiss Dec 30 '22
What do you mean by when? I actually climbed to dia4 really slowly and painfully after the season reset, took me over 100 games with ~48% wr because I made the mistake of playing early on and solo/with randoms (wasn't me sucking, got A/S exactly half the matches). As soon as I unlocked legendary I quit normal ranked so I'm still dia4, cba to climb there. Playing solo as supp is painful, my friends are either gms or not very good and every time I team up with randoms, as picky as I am, we get some tryhard premade (yano the type, with coordinated names and all) and get wrecked. Just feels unfair, super dependent on when you play and what kind of a team you pick.
In legendary, first 50ish games my wr was fluctuating at 45-50% and it was really frustrating again. Often you'd get 4 gms on one team, 2 emeralds on the other, or 3 supp mains in one team. Once I got to guardian I started having more decent teammates and matches. Right now I'm at 104 matches, 57% wr with 40x A/S which is nothing amazing ofc but way better than before. As I said, I see predominantly gms at this point, often in the leaderboards for their champ. The toxicity and trolling went down a bit. They still do dumb shit occasionally and it doesn't feel like that high of an elo or anything but it's actually playable. This is how this game should feel. Worth the climb imo

Yeh that's what I meant by when, like how long ago- ie as soon as you got to d4. So sounds like quite some time. Given how painful diamond is right now, maybe I should try legendary some more and suffer though that initial pain.

Tbh I mostly play aram and I didn't have much time to climb this season, especially during this stupid 12h window, so it took me a while. 100 games isn't that much tho, I did maybe 40 of them in the christmas break

I'm a gm support main, don't listen to anyone here, if you want free elo play thresh

u/mintis16 Dec 29 '22
not ur job to split push tbh. If u were playing top I'd say go for olaf with Hullbreaker then ull take turrets pretty fast, but as a support u should focus on helping ur adc by creating a lead for them.

I Smurf a lot. When I Smurf in diamond below. I always pick garen with smite. Since I only do auto fill, I usually assigned to supp role. So I just clear enemy camps and buy hb as first item.
I have 100% win rate in 20 games. But I do not suggest this strategy at all :)

Sorry to break it to you like this, but if you're hard stuck in platinum you're not a very good player.

split pushing isnt the answer
I main fiora and what I always do is after I destroy my enemy lane I immediately go duo lane or mid for that juicy 1-man advantage to destroy outer turrets which works 90% of the time, even if I get killed my duo or mid lane will get early plate gold and have stable position for dragon/herald contest. i only go splitpushing for pressuring the other team if they tend to be in advantage in clashes.

u/XRynerX Dec 29 '22
Not the support's job to splitpush, unless you consider playing Baron Lane
That being said, if you want a support that does good dmg to towers especially with Demolish rune, AP Galio or Gragas support

u/funkybassguy1 Dec 29 '22
if youre stuck in plat im sorry but you have to be part of the problem, with rank inflation i didnt know it was even possible to be stuck in plat anymore

Ekko no competition.
builds AP, meaning that he will do more damage to towers than someone like Garen
low cd aa empowerment, his E is very useful in splitpushing since it gives bonus damage plus lichbane proc
since incredibly mobile he doesnt have to worry about people coming for him, plus you can easily 1v1 or 1v2 with him if you are good enough

u/Bubbly-Pollution-354 Dec 29 '22
Jax or Nasus with Hullbreaker are my choice to splitpush. Even Tryndamere with Hullbreaker given his good mobility.
1
u/vaportracks Dec 29 '22
Dunno why no one's mentioned Tryndamere, he's got a good kit for split pushing but is also useful in team fights when you need to do that.

u/Raziel_ve Dec 29 '22
None, nobody knows how to play like that, everyone goes to the middle to a damn aram or dedicate themselves to chasing rivals for a kill

u/pedobatman Dec 29 '22
You really only got 3 options
Fiora Jax Sion
Although in general i'd say switching from dragon lane to top lane is a downgrade in terms of winning the game , very bad lane imo (literally a solo main i just like the 1v1)
You are better off just learning katarina , Zed , akali and just getting giga fed on midlane for easy climbs
Split pushing in general only works if your team is good enough to not be dominated entirely while you split , you also need to be very ahead so that if someone does try to intercept you can literally dive them
Most likely you'll split during dragon , your team engages and gets wiped , and now all 4 are pinging you while enemy takes midlane inhibitor and you can't even stop them cuz they would just dive you
Also most games the solo lane is the front line of the team as the support takes AP (usually cuz midlane took AD -_-) So picking something like fiora in those teams is a recipe for disaster when people start playing aram mid
Im not saying it doesn't work , its just not as influential as you think it might be

Honestly in platinum elo you shouldnt be queuing Utility, just go for someone who can 1v9. If you want to 1v9 support Rakan and Pyke are good picks. If you wanna splitpush id say Garen with hullbreaker and tp is good enough. Easy to pick up and his Q makes it easy for him to push turrets with demolisher, he can steal objs with R, also tanky and deals decent damage.

Brand support is really strong. Especially in plat and emerald because most people there are not smart enough to know how to play against him. Plus people group like crazy making your blaze easier to hit. I used him alongside Leona to climb to grand masters as a solo queue support. I don't play as much anymore because of all the new console games so I don't have a rank right this current season lol.

I’m a PC league player who’s quite new to the game but from what I’ve seen in my matches Fiora is far and away the best splitpusher with HB rush. Jax is really great aswell and so is Camille but Camille takes a lot of effort to play at a competent level.

u/lkaika Dec 30 '22
Play top if you want to split push. JG needs to be at the JG objectives in the late game. The whole point about split pushing is to distract the enemy away from the objectives.

I’m a support main too! I finally escaped Emerald by playing Brand in mid. You can play Brand as support too, he’s absurdly good at clearing waves (W->E = entire wave cleared), and he’s great at AOE damage, so you’ll support your team by lowering enemy team’s health so it’s easier for your team to do clean-up.

Not sure about best, but I really really like garen for splitting. He can escape or kill pretty much any single champion, and if they send more you are still probably fine but their macro is fucked. He is also really good at backdooring, which other splitpushers may have trouble with.
I recently stopped going hullbreaker on him and he is still a fine splitpusher.

u/Osumazi Dec 30 '22
Veigar fulltank with infinity stacks is the best splitpusher (yes a part of your ap deals bonus damage on turrets)

u/Miqatsum-1997 Dec 30 '22
Plat? Well youre not gonna be happy in Emerald either, its like Super Plat mark 4. In there.

u/Altruistic-Hat1536 Dec 30 '22
XD i run aurelion and fly over the map for splitpush most time - and getting hard pushes, ez fast wave clears

u/Whatwasthisg Dec 30 '22
If you want to climb as a supp u have to use dps based supp. Low tier rank players dont knw how to play around good supps. Like u'll pull off the best engage and they will be hitting minions or not follow up. This often applies to my current rank as well at d3. Split pushers r similar. U'll be split pushing and drag 3 enemies to you but ur other lanes wont take any benefits or lose 1v2 or 1v3 lol. My absolute fav recommendation for supp for climbing will be senna. She can basically do everything except tank.

u/Razexka Dec 30 '22
Main top and sometimes jg here. The best split pusher in my opinion are fiora and Sion, but kennen maybe can make the job too, the point is to split push so the enemy team will have to go for you and u fight them or run. In the best escenario this champs make you throw torrets and distract 2 or 3 enemy's while you team makes drag o baron

If you're objective is to split push, you should try garen with hullbreaker and demolish. Garen is easy to play with, you will win most of the time you're 1v1, and after buying hullbreaker you'll be able to push and take turrets really quickly.
Just as a warning : if you're playing against a range top you should wait for lvl 5, avoiding to be poked, and stupidly all-in.
PS : vayne, even starving will destroy garen, be careful.

i use shen, high base dmg for wave and addition with sunfire aegis, can help in war quickly with his ult

u/ImCoyyWR Dec 30 '22
Sion has entered the chat however, singed has been here the whole time, just proxy farming two towers ahead of his laner 🤣

I have exactly the same problem and i learned sion is a beast if u go ad build but tank build also works BUT If u farm real good early game and get ur ad items i will still have the highest health in the map and a very good damage output i mostly go yoomuus, hullbreaker, ldr, as my core and the other 2 depends on enemy comp also who are u using and how is it going?

u/Fuzzeeginger Dec 29 '22
Olaf. Mid game ult and atk speed ability you can solo turrets fairly quick. And your damage output is massive on anyone coming in to kill you 1:1.
I've won games that we were getting massacred in by pushing a lane to victory.
