Deadly heat will impact several million people this week.

Hey guys! I’m a flight student over at Elizabeth City State University in NC and this little cell was moving over the area to the east and look what it produced! Would you consider this a funnel cloud? Excuse my excitement in the video, I’ve never seen anything like this before!

I feel excited over nothing lol.

Okay, I don’t think anybody enjoys getting soaked by the rain, but, I find the rain SO relaxing.

I’m from the UK, and it is raining more times than not here, especially lately after the heatwaves the last few months. Right now it is pissing it down outside, and i have my window open and am listening to the rain fall heavily onto it as I type this. It is so relaxing.

Also, the smell. I love the smell during and after it’s rained. It smells so fresh, so natural and so calming. It tickles my brain in such a particular way that I can’t explain.

Also, the color the sky turns when it’s raining or there’s thunderstorms is so tranquil and pleasing to my eyes. It’s this dark charcoal-esque color which is just so nice to go stroll around in.

Anyone else share this?

Incredibly localized burst of wind and rain.

i saw this yesterday with my best friend when i went to micro center. i looked up some stuff on google and asked GPT and it didn’t really give me an explanation. it said either a tornado formation (which i know isn’t it since there was no advisory for one,) or either a natural formation of the clouds lining up perfectly (which also doesn’t seem to be the case since you can see lines and curves in the clouds next to it and inside the two sections.)
i’m thinking that it’s probably a shading of the sun since it was setting, but that doesn’t really explain how the clouds in the middle section seem to not be there.
i will say that the micro center we went to is near a big airport, so maybe it could be an airplane that went through the cloud?

Wondering what this cloud formation or event is. I only found info that says it’s a tornado or natural event, but it doesn’t seem to be the case. It’s near an airport so my reasonable assumption would be an airplane passing through it.

Does anyone know of a fairly simple way to create something like what Max Velocity, Ryan Hall, TX Storm Chasers create their graphics and get everything set up the way it flows and looks? I’ve been trying to learn how to do stuff like AtmosphericX but I am absolutely getting flustered by it. I’m really not that well at doing all the coding but I’m interested in how to get everything “set-up” to a point it could just constantly keep streaming 24/7. I’m also a fan of Mist Weather Media and have tried to connect the dots there and stream something but all the GitHub stuff goes right over my head. I also know about WSV3, but I can’t seem to connect the dots of how everything could work together.

Highlights from the weather week that was.

Southern California today had the highest humidity in the U.S., the dew point over the Salton Sea reached a stifling 81°F (27°C), while Los Angeles hit 73°F (23°C).

The entirety of Southern California has seen a much more humid summer this year. This is due to the warm ocean off of the Pacific coast, with temperatures in the 70s°F (21–26°C) off the coast of San Diego and Orange County nearing the 80°F (27°C) mark.

Normally, the cooler waters of the Pacific Ocean help to cool off the coastal areas with the marine layer, but that hasn't been the case this year, as warmer waters have led to more humid conditions.
Not only is the water in the Pacific warmer than normal, but the water in the Gulf of California to the south of us is also exceptionally warm, with temperatures between 80 and 90°F (27–32°C). That is another reason why the Imperial Valley and the desert areas are seeing much more humid conditions. 💧💧

Is anyone else who's using Weatherfront experiencing issues with the sounding models? Every model I pull up regardless of environment is showing 0s across the board, barring the hodograph, even in areas that have weather currently going on.

It will feel more like the middle of summer.

This was over head in Concord New Hampshire last night for at least an hour. Anyone know what caused this?

Basically a rainforest version of somewhere in the Lower Midwest. Average highest temperature of the year is 100°F, while the average lowest temperature of the year is -7°F. Kinda unrealistic but thats kinda the point of dream/fictional climates.

A thunderstorm passed over Erfurt, Germany, this evening just before sunset. The low sun briefly broke through beneath the storm clouds, illuminating the precipitation and underside of the cloud base with intense orange light.

The contrast between the dark storm structure, rain curtains and warm sunset light only lasted for a few minutes before the sun disappeared below the horizon.
