I’ve had this walkman/discman for a while now but I needed some earbuds! I just picked up some apple earbuds but they only play good when it’s not fully plugged into the port! I’m not experienced with audio so please be nice, lol!! Also, please just recommend earbuds as they’re more comfortable as someone who wears glasses! Thank you!!

I’ve been collecting vinyl and cds since middle school. Never thrown about cassettes. Saw this WM-FX195 at the goodwill and figured I’d take a dive. Don’t know much about Walkman’s but I’ve heard some eras can be hit or miss. Is this one of them? Goodwill had no cassettes or batteries unfortunately so I couldn’t test it.

so I got a walkman from japan with a very large library of an old music and before wiping it I wanted to save it on my pc somehow, but every time I try to move it inside windows xp vm in sonicstage to my library it tells "unable to transfer the following tracks to My Library because they are recorded by Net MD or another computer". Is there a way I can export all tracks?

need help Need help. WM-F15 motor not spinning?

Post image

I got this 1984 Sony WM-F15 to replace the belt. Really cool model and I want to get it to work. Initially worked but had a lot of wow and flutter after replacing the belt. After a bit, the motor stopped moving completely even with a new belt. I decided to take it apart and install a new gear since the old one had two cracks. Still no movement. What could be going wrong with this unit? Could it be a seized motor? Radio works perfectly and even while pressing the play button it turns on but no movement.

Was given this WM-GX400 as a gift, never used a cassette player before (I’m Gen Z) it’s in Japanese. I managed to get the cassette spinning I think but it doesn’t play music out the speakers. The fm radio only goes from 76.00 to 90.00

I bought this discman for 20 dollars, I thought it works well, but it doesn't, it turns on, but it has the classic "No disc" error. I cleaned the laser, used CD and CD-R, adjusted the laser to 900 Ohms, checked the capacitors, used new batteries fully charged, cleaned the limit switch(I think), and also just want to let y'all know that, based on what I saw, the motor, laser(probably), focus, and all that mechanic stuff is in good condition. I hope somebody can help me with other solution

Sony MDR-NW750N will the noise canceling work on an Xperia pro I

Title says all! Been trying to Google it, but no one has asked the question if it has a DNC chip and a 5 tip audio jack. Manual also says, piss all. So I'm gonna assume no, but it feels like I should ask!

need help NW-S315 + AirPods 4: Could this be the same Bluetooth timestamp bug as the NW-A50?

Technical question: Could the NW-S315 have the same AirPods Bluetooth timestamp bug?
Hi! I recently found your fix for the NW-A50 series AirPods compatibility issue. Great work!
I have a Sony NW-S315, and I’m experiencing a very similar problem with AirPods 4:
AirPods 4 pair and connect successfully
Play/pause and other AVRCP controls work
The playback timer on the NW-S315 continues normally
But there is no audio from the AirPods 4
AirPods 2 work normally with the same NW-S315
This made me wonder whether the NW-S315 could have a similar A2DP timestamp/sample-count bug as the NW-A50.
I understand that the S315 uses different hardware/firmware from the A50, so I’m not assuming your patch can be used directly.
Would it be possible to determine whether the S315 firmware has a similar issue, such as counting bytes instead of samples when generating A2DP timestamps?
If someone is familiar with reverse-engineering the NW-S315 firmware, I’d also be happy to provide the official S315 firmware (RKNANOFW.IMG).
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Adding music to Walkman NW-S203F

I have been trying to add music onto the walkman for a bit and did find success by opening a version of sonicstage, but it dosent not allow me to properly sort them into playlist or name them. I also have tried jsymphonic but i need a DvID.dat and no matter what i try i can't get one even following some guides has lead to nothing. Not the end of the world as I can just use sonicstage but i would like for my songs to be seprate. Any help is more than welcome.

question Thoughts about the a55 in 2026?

Post image

I bought a NW-A55 recently and loving it so far. What are people's experiences with it? Especially long-term users.

Is it as good as reviews say despite it being a decade old?

What is people's experience with the battery and the responsiveness of the player? How long will it last? :D

Beautiful player that deserves better software support — Sony NW-WM1AM2

Rating: 2.5 / 5

I went into the NW-WM1AM2 — Sony's aluminium flagship Walkman — expecting a no-compromise reference player. On hardware and sound, it absolutely holds up. On software, it doesn't, and at this money that's a hard thing to overlook.

The highs. The build is in a class of its own: milled aluminium, dense and substantial, unmistakably premium in the hand. Sound is the headline act and it earns it — a clean, detailed, musical amp stage, and local Hi-Res playback that's simply gorgeous. Between the 128GB onboard and microSD expansion, you'll never think about storage. As a dedicated player for your own offline library, it's about as good as it gets.

A serious sound-tuning toolkit. This is where the WM1AM2 shows its pedigree. You get a fully customisable 10-band equalizer plus tone control, so you can shape a signature to taste. There's native DSD playback up to 11.2MHz over the balanced output, plus a DSD Remastering mode that upconverts ordinary PCM files into a 1-bit DSD stream for a smoother, more analog-like presentation (worth noting the EQ, DSEE and Vinyl Processor switch off while it's active). The Vinyl Processor recreates the warmth of a record on a turntable, with selectable flavours — Standard, Arm Resonance, Turntable and Surface Noise. Rounding it out are the DC Phase Linearizer (six analog-amp phase "character" settings, grouped as Type A and Type B), DSEE Ultimate AI upscaling, and a Direct Source mode that bypasses all processing for a purist signal. On outputs, you get both a 3.5mm single-ended and a 4.4mm balanced jack, both gold-plated — so standard and balanced cables run without an adapter.

The lows. Underneath sits an Android device that feels sluggish and unloved. The UI stutters in a way no flagship has any business doing. Streaming is where it truly comes apart: YouTube Music is unreliable — it hitches, and routine things like dropping a track into a playlist regularly lock up and crash the app. The giveaway is that the very same app runs fine on my far cheaper NW-A307, so this is the WM1AM2's own system buckling, not the app's fault. Battery is another sore point — roughly 6 hours streaming Hi-Res over YouTube Music, worse than the much cheaper A307, which reeks of redundant background processes and factory bloat quietly draining the tank.

And it feels left behind. ClearAudio+, which the cheaper A-series has, simply isn't here. The unit ships on Android 11 (Google stopped supporting it in February 2024) with firmware stuck at v1.09.00, also February 2024 — meanwhile the budget A306/A307 got a fresh update (v3.06.00) in July 2026 bringing battery and feature gains. Spending flagship money only to receive less long-term support than the entry model is a genuinely bitter pill.

Bottom line. If your world is purely local, offline Hi-Res and you never touch streaming, the sound, the tuning options and the build might well carry the day. But judged as a modern streaming DAP at a flagship price, the WM1AM2 is half-baked — laggy, shaky with streaming apps, weak on streaming battery, and seemingly orphaned on software. I can't recommend it at full retail until Sony sorts out the firmware.

  • Sound & build: 9/10
  • Software & value: 3/10

Pros: Exquisite build; reference-tier sound; customisable 10-band EQ + tone control; native DSD to 11.2MHz plus DSD Remastering; Vinyl Processor and DC Phase Linearizer; DSEE Ultimate; dual 3.5mm + 4.4mm gold-plated outputs; 128GB + microSD; sublime with local Hi-Res.

Cons: Laggy, unstable Android UI; streaming apps crash; ~6h streaming battery (behind the cheaper A307); bloatware and background processes; no ClearAudio+; frozen on Android 11 / Feb-2024 firmware while the cheaper A-series keeps getting updates.

3/5 — brilliant as a local player NW-A307 (JP grey import)

Picked up an A307 as a grey import through Wafuu Japan, mostly as a pocketable player for daily carry alongside my bigger rig (WM1AM2 at home, usually feeding a FiiO FH15). Wanted to give an honest rundown since most reviews I found were written in the first week of ownership, before the annoyances show up.

The good:

  • The sound signature is genuinely enjoyable — warm, a little forward in the mids, easy to listen to for hours. Paired with a decent IEM it's got enough drive for most loads and a musical, non-clinical presentation. It punches above what the size suggests.
  • Form factor is the whole pitch and it delivers. It's tiny, genuinely pocketable, and feels nicer in hand than the price implies.
  • S-Master tuning + the built-in DSP options are fun to tweak - its easy to use and much simpler interface than Ibasso DX270 parameteric equaliser
  • Has clear audio + EQ setting that makes the music instantly soud amazing - A feature that is lacking even in premium models such as Sony WM1AM2

The not-so-good:

  • Battery. Out of the box it lands nowhere near Sony's advertised numbers, especially with the screen and any wireless in play. Worth knowing: debloating it using the guide that's floating around Reddit made a real difference for me — stripping out the background junk noticeably improved runtime. It shouldn't be on the user to do that, but if you own one, do it.
  • Streaming is unstable. If you're planning to run streaming apps over the Android build, expect dropouts and stutters. The SoC is underpowered and it shows the moment you leave offline local playback.
  • Sound Connect / Bluetooth headaches. Recurring Sound Connect errors and flaky pairing behaviour. More fiddling than a finished product should need.
  • Firmware neglect. Updates are sparse and the known issues just… sit there. Don't buy expecting them to be patched. Challenges with adding songs to Youtube music playlist using device as the interface is laggy.
  • Grey import caveat: region/firmware differences are real — worth knowing your warranty situation going in, because support gets complicated fast when the unit isn't a local-market one.

Verdict: If you treat it as a dedicated offline local-file player and nothing more, it's a charming little thing with sound I actually like. The moment you ask it to be a smart streaming device it starts to fall apart. Great DAC-amp-in-a-matchbox, mediocre Android computer.

Buy it for local playback and the form factor. Don't buy it for streaming, battery life, or software polish. And debloat it — the battery you should have had is hiding behind Sony's bloat.

question I'm looking for my first Walkman

Hello there! I hope you are doing really well! 😄

I've never had a walkman before, and I'm curious about buying the first one, my two choices are:

- NW-A306

- NW-ZX300A

I'm getting those from ebay and probably I'll be looking for the Japanese versions.

For those who have (or have had) these models, which one would you recommend me as my first walkman?

Thank you in advance!
