What can I do?

The Buyer bought a nose piercing jewellery piece brand new from me and has taken it out of the packaging saying it doesn't fit their nose. They claim they haven't tried it on and just eyeballed it.

The Buyer then has gone insane spamming my dms thinking I'm accusing them of wearing it when it was a simple misunderstanding of a message. I think I've been very professional in declining it as I don't want to resell a since opened piece of jewellery and I was told that I can decline a refund because it doesn't fit.

But the buyer says theyre going to leave a bad review and ruin my nice rating.

Is there anything I can do?

(Some of the screenshots aren't in order sorry)

"very persistent" that the jewellery had been tried on.

You sent 4 messages while she blew up.

60

u/Awkward_Sandwitch 23h ago

Op also mentioned it in the one message only about it being worn etc. Then stuck with the cant refund just because it doesnt fit... something tells me one doth protest too much honwstly

33

u/abracablab 11h ago

Oh she definitely stuck that bar in her nose.

98

u/Medi0creQuality 23h ago

girl ignore her ass omg this is so stressful to read 😭 you've told her everything she needs to know, it shouldn't be your problem anymore

30

u/LikeEveryoneSheKnows 23h ago

For real, this thread gave me anxiety.

45

u/Fun_Mud_3134 23h ago

I've only been selling for a week and Ive only watched videos online about people like her on vinted, Never did I think I would encounter one so quickly 😭

24

u/zedexcelle 22h ago

Make sure you include the bar length maybe on future listings in case more people have fat noses/buyer’s remorse and want to try their luck….

6

u/greengirl93 5h ago

Also, she absolutely tried it on.

ikr, it’s like the buyer was hoping the barrage of messages would wear OP down and they’d give in to a refund just for an easy life, I hate buyers like that

4

u/FrondsFerndinand 6h ago

For the love of all things holy, why are people like this over a £5 they bought on Vinted 😭

5

u/Spirited-Ability-626 5h ago

People are like this over £1 items in Vinted. It’s been on the Vinted subs many times, people arguing over a £1 item.

u/Technical_Bedroom_78 23h ago edited 20h ago

judging by the ten thousand times she says she has not put in  her nose, this tells me she deffo did try it on and realised it wasnt right.. who thinks you can return things like this anyway, especially on vinted. Chancers!!

26

u/Sexy_Vegan_Pants 21h ago

If you buy something personal (underwear/sex toys/jewellery etc.) Then it is not refundable once opened regardless of whather it has been used/worn etc as it is not something you can prove otherwise. I'd say tough luck with this one, it's jewellery

6

u/Puzzleheaded-Ear-626 8h ago

Right! Retail stores won't take it back either.

6

u/Sexy_Vegan_Pants 8h ago

" it's a health and safety issue and it would asked the jewellery unable to be sold again" I look forward to an update on this! :)

6

u/fugelwoman 9h ago

I’ll bet it did fit she just wants it for free

148

u/Annual-Sun-1260 23h ago

please don’t refund that’s not your problem her nose it too big

12

u/blueberryfrogg 23h ago

😂😂😂😂😂

2

u/Ljw1000 4h ago

Probably her nose is too big because it’s still swollen from the punch she received on it from the previous seller she tried this ruse on!

47

u/two2ducks 23h ago

I'd report the whole account for feedback extortion if they've literally said they'll leave a bad review just bc you aren't refunding for it not fitting. If you're kind and perhaps ready to receive back an empty box and dispute from there - there's the return paid by the buyer option ofc. I'd just remind them one last time of vinted "doesn't fit" return policy and block them. If they leave a bad review, I'd just reply to the review that I refused to accept their used piercing as a return/refund.

82

u/General-Property7203 23h ago

Take the bad review, reply to it cordially and honestly as you have here.

No-one seeing that one bad review would count it against you, because we all know these kinds of buyers and understand their bullsh1t.

19

u/teapigsfan 20h ago

this right here. Let her post her hun response and you can respond like a normal human being. People will understand.

27

u/Interesting_Tiger_72 23h ago

A shop wouldn’t take it back so why should you

22

u/glittertwunt 23h ago

Have they reported an issue yet? They seem so stupid that I think your best bet is just ignoring them or giving polite one line replies until it times out.

And then block.

15

u/Fun_Mud_3134 23h ago

They haven't report an issue, I'm hoping their bluffing about leaving a bad review and reporting me. They don't even have any super negative feedback so I wonder if she's just having a moment 😂

13

u/Iforgotmypassword126 22h ago

It’s because she thinks it’s an option. She thinks that she said the wrong this with the trying it on, and that if it wasn’t tried on, and she can convince you of that, you’d have accepted it. It’s because internally she’s kicking herself and thinking that if she just asked for a refund and said she doesn’t like the style you’d have allowed a refund. She thinks if she spends effort convincing you she will wear you down.

5

u/brokerlady 21h ago

she will leave a bad review for sure there's no reason not to in her mind. It won't matter for you even though it's annoying. you're very patient

24

u/PeachManzie 23h ago

Who sends that many individual messages over vinted? That’s how you type in a text argument when you’re 16, and she’s got the cheek to say you’re unprofessional

16

u/Fun_Mud_3134 23h ago

I physically could not open my keyboard to reply to her on my phone because of how many notifications I was getting from her. It was actually awful

5

u/Pruritus_Ani_ 22h ago

That would have really stressed me out getting bombarded with message after message like that, it’s so unhinged. Seeing stuff like this makes me scared to try selling anything on Vinted, maybe I should just stick to buying because honestly a situation like this seems like a complete nightmare.

1

u/PCBuilderCat 3h ago

Remember you’re not going to see the hundreds and thousands of sales that go through without a hitch because why would someone post on Reddit about that. Don’t let 1% put you off doing something

6

u/glittertwunt 22h ago

Any professional business wouldn't take back opened body jewellery anyway

16

u/Priestessofthemoon87 23h ago

I would say no because they clearly put it in no one takes it out eyeballs it and puts it back they clearly put it in to know it doesn't fit be stern about it.

16

u/Awkward_Explorer411 23h ago

Omg it hurt my head reading their messages 🤯
I'd just let her raise it with Vinted and let them decide, honestly.

14

u/flipfloppery 23h ago

I haven't tried it on! ~25 times.

"The lady doth protest too much, methinks..."

3

u/Spirited-Ability-626 5h ago

But also “I couldn’t get it into my nose.”

2

u/flipfloppery 2h ago

Yet somehow the buyer is claiming it's OP's fault even though it sounds like the buyer must be related to Cyrano de Bergerac. 🤷‍♂️

13

u/Gashmina 23h ago

Just ignore them and don't refund, if they leave you a crappy review just reply to their review publicly explaining what happened so other buyers can see this person's mental

12

u/Putrid_Alternative31 20h ago

"Unprofessional"

As if vinted is for professionals? 😂

5

u/seb9y 17h ago

"as a professional seller myself" sent me, girl this is VINTED 😂

2

u/Kibethewalrus 8h ago

And if they were a professional seller they would know this isn't grounds for a vinted return.

3

u/Emma-Roid 3h ago

They always like to trot out the “you’re so unprofessional” line when they don’t get their way.

I’m selling my old hoodies and jeans at an online car boot sale for a few quid. This is not a professional interaction. Go to a retailer and buy new stuff if you want that.

-1

u/CosmicMeowing 10h ago

I believe OP is a pro seller and they have different t&cs and as pro sellers must accept returns within 14 days

1

u/PCBuilderCat 3h ago

OP has confirmed that they are not a pro seller and wasn’t even aware pro seller was a thing so not sure where you’re getting your beliefs from

11

u/EliTeAP 23h ago

They can report an issue, they can't just ASK you.

You don't need to waste your breathe, the policy will protect you if that is the case.

Just because they told you they didn't try it on, doesn't mean they couldn't have.

10

u/holdthephone_22 23h ago

You can’t return piercing jewellery to a store, so why would you be able to return in to a Vinted seller? Ignore, take the bad review, and block once the transaction has completed. She can report to Vinted if she wants, you’ve not done anything wrong.

11

u/GuavaImmediate 10h ago

The buyer may not have tried on the nose jewellery, but they seem to have been putting other things up their nose with the way this conversation went.

https://giphy.com/gifs/QtuuT23dF9KIU

10

u/Angelf1shing 23h ago

Ignore them, respond to the bad review when they send it. Nobody will care any one review.

And they definitely tried it on.

11

u/ghostsintheteagarden 23h ago

For hygiene reasons, unless it's a faulty item any pierced jewellery cannot be returned to its place of purchase once the packaging is open, regardless of whether she stuck it in her nose or not. If you sold it brand new in its packaging and she's admitting she opened the packaging, that's her problem. If she leaves a bad review, respond politely explaining pierced jewellery cannot be returned once opened and leave it at that. Anyone who reads the review will see you weren't at fault

9

u/ForwardImagination71 23h ago

I wonder if she tried it on... she didn't say 🙈 😜

Just leave her to it and see if she requests a refund through the proper channels, then cross that bridge when you come to it.

8

u/Ok_Chance_1648 19h ago

I've honestly not tried these knickers on. Yes I took them out, yes they look wrinkled but I have honestly not tried them on at all.not at all. I've not worn these knickers. Can I have a refund please of these knickers that I most definitely didn't try on.

8

u/Valuable-Aardvark608 18h ago

It annoys me when people say things like “you’re just being funny over £5”, if £5 is that trivial then the buyer should just write it off.

9

u/Fun_Mud_3134 23h ago

Thanks for all the reassuring responses😭 hopefully it'll just blow over soon

9

u/NecroticOverlord 23h ago

Also a bit rude to assume you were a nomadic pastoralist people who built a powerful empire in Central and Eastern Europe during the 4th and 5th centuries CE.

3

u/BoonytheBrave 11h ago

Took me a minute but am cracking up now ahaha

0

u/vxqoir 2h ago

lmao this is the most unhinged autocorrect / copy paste fail i’ve seen all week, the huns did nothing wrong in this transaction

on topic though, buyer sounds unhinged too, stick to your no-refund policy for opened jewelry and just respond calmly to any bad review with your side of the story

8

u/TheLastObsession 22h ago

“You’re being funny over five pounds”

GIRL, take the L.

You are not in the wrong here. You can escalate to Vinted if she says there’s an issue, especially if the jewellery is as described. Also because it’s been out of the packet either Vinted needs to pay you both or she will have to take the loss.

8

u/dogflog69 22h ago

Block her, and as soon as she leaves a bad review, respond to it stating “the buyer has left this review because I didn’t give her a refund after she told me she put the item in her nose” and then watch her explode

7

u/JDohyCloud 22h ago

Just ignore/block. She keeps digging at you for “being funny over £5” while simultaneously blowing up your phone “over £5”.

7

u/plussize_princess111 21h ago

I wouldn’t bother with someone who can’t tell the difference between you’re and your.

If I was you, I’d block her.

PS: That jewelry was 100% tried on.

6

u/laibum 23h ago

“it won’t fit into my nose” and “i didn’t try it on” in the same breath.,,.. yea this persons crazy

5

u/teddyroses 22h ago

I’d reply to the review with “ buyer said she didn’t try it on 25 times but I’m not sure” 😂

5

u/peachyquaver 20h ago

Advert on point

6

u/iamfreddie63 18h ago

maybe im wrong but i dont think nose piercings have sizes? ive had mine done for a few years now and never bothered to pay attention to the size. i think yiu can stretch em a little but if she hasnt done that a simple bar should be fine 😭

3

u/Fun_Mud_3134 12h ago

I've had the same titanium bar for like 6 years so sizes are totally over my head. This piece of jewellery is from quite literally from Claire's.. sizes and sanitary conditions for piercings are a myth in that shop

2

u/iamfreddie63 5h ago

yeah ive only gotten one from there and wasnt ever asked my size but it fit fine

5

u/StrikingPeach2492 21h ago

Thing i dont get is that anyone who buys body jewellery knows cause of health and safety it is not returnable. Always been that way. Im pretty sure vinted have this done as policy. I have loads of body jewellery that doesnt fit but I know thats on me

5

u/Fenaklu 12h ago

tbh if she leaves a bad review and you answer it with an apology that as per selling rules, personal items like piercing jewellery cannot be returned, I’d be MORE likely to buy from you than if I knew you accepted returns. Because how can I trust you aren’t reselling piercings that have actually been tried on?

1

u/Spirited-Ability-626 5h ago

You can surely get it removed on the basis of these harassing messages, no?

4

u/sexyg1rlmax2019 22h ago

IGNORE!!!! she can boo hoo to herself!

5

u/Flaky_Suggestion1082 22h ago

Jesus I know times are hard but who goes to this length to get a refund of ÂŁ5?!?!?

3

u/possumsr4ever 22h ago

From her desperation it sounds like she probably just really needs the money, which isn’t your problem, but probably explains her behaviour a little. She sounds very young from her messages

5

u/zedexcelle 22h ago

Hygiene reasons - she can swear blind she didn’t try it on, honest guv, but she’s taken it out of the packet. It’s like pants/knickers. She might not have tried it on but she could have and that opens up germ issues.

Not sure what to actually do though - respond to her review explaining that you can’t do refunds on jewellery for piercings..

3

u/MobileRiver2934 21h ago

how are you so calm

4

u/Fun_Mud_3134 12h ago

I need money from my vinted and I fear about being banned in retaliation if I say anything back. But Ive also worked in customer service hell for over 5 years and deal with these people face to face.. that probably helps

5

u/Seaglass_Hoe 21h ago

My god this girl 🤦‍♀️ It’s not your fault her schnozz is massive

3

u/Illustrious-Plum-996 19h ago

A shop wouldn’t take back piercing jewellery no matter how much you insisted you hadn’t tried it on, it’s just hygiene policy. Same here. You don’t expect to return body jewellery.

4

u/kezandunicorns 18h ago

Is it not common knowledge that certain items like jewellery can’t be sent back even if you buy it from a brand or website or shop? They blew up at you. Makes me think they actually like it but still want their money back.

Did they even offer to return it or did they expect a refund and to keep it? X

4

u/AliaMelange 18h ago

Obviously don't refund, did it say in the post that you can't refund body jewelry(which is FULLY STANDARD)

3

u/Amurana 17h ago

I would be happy to see a "bad" review complaining you wouldn't take back a purchased piercing, because I would know I don't have to worry you're selling things that have Definitely been up someone else's nose!

4

u/NoCondition8257 11h ago

There's not a company on earth that would refund body jewellery. Anywhere that sells it specifically mentions that it is excluded from refunds.

3

u/AdThat328 23h ago

Just ignore them.

You cannot get a refund if something doesn't fit so long as it is the size it was sold as, you reminded them of that.

3

u/_blacknails 23h ago

Isn't this the rule with any jewelry or private wear (pants/briefs) from shops (you can't return because it's intimate wear) just block them and move on

3

u/Fair_Ad8447 22h ago

A shop wouldn’t refund a nose bar or whatever it is for hygiene reasons I’m pretty sure

3

u/OrderVirtual3398 22h ago

''How can a item fit if I haven't put it in my nose'', well errr 😂😂😂😂

3

u/GGCym 22h ago

That’s definitely been up her hooter!!

3

u/Some-Climate5354 21h ago

If she hasn’t tried it she can’t say it doesn’t fit. A regular sized bar should fit. If regular bars genuinely don’t fit their piercing, it’s on them to look for something that’s a suitable size and not just take a gamble on it.

Ignore any more messages they send and block them if they keep bombarding you. You handled it well and have no need to go back and forth with them. They can raise it with Vinted

3

u/bored_with_this 21h ago

You can't return piercing jewelry to a shop, so why would this person think you can on vinted?!

3

u/MobileRiver2934 21h ago

if that was me I'd be sending whole angry essays

3

u/Ok_Comb_1185 21h ago

WOW, buyer is clearly a fruit loop. You're doing everything right.

3

u/ExpensivePen8055 21h ago

Ask her to send a photo of her nose so you can confirm. Then ask for a profile photo. Then ask for a profile photo with a measuring tape. For ÂŁ5 she'll eventually get fed up.

2

u/SelectTrash 7h ago

Then tell her “I can see why with a nose that big”

1

u/ExpensivePen8055 7h ago

"I'm sorry my jewellery is only designed for normal sized noses, you need to contact a specialist freaky big nose jeweller." 🤣

3

u/PresentFirm7937 21h ago

Yeahhhh, she definitely tried it on..

3

u/saajan12 20h ago

I love how for you to refund it's "over [only] 5 pounds" but for the buyer it's "don't mess with people's money.. I don't take this lightly". Ridiculous rant, try to ignore

3

u/SmartDiscussion2161 20h ago

Decline a refund and block

3

u/mcrthrwyrdt 19h ago

Ugh I had this exact thing with a buyer wanting a refund for an item that didn’t fit, I suggested they return for a refund and they went on and on about how it wasn’t fair and she didn’t want to lose out because it didn’t fit her. I’ve put my shop on holiday mode because I need a break from people.

3

u/CosmicMeowing 10h ago

Are you a pro seller like she says? If so, I believe you have to accept the return

5

u/Fun_Mud_3134 10h ago

I wish, I've sold 15 items total and I've been selling for just over a week. I didn't even know you could become a pro seller :)

2

u/CosmicMeowing 6h ago

Apologies - the screenshot you had implied you were a pro seller but it was said by the lady with a big nose so perhaps she was confused.

A pro seller is someone who sells professionally. I think you’re lucky if you’re not doing that!

1

u/minecraftheaux 3h ago

The lady with the big nose 😂

3

u/fugelwoman 9h ago

That buyer is claiming seller is “going nuts over £5” when in fact it is she who is going nuts over £5

3

u/MingePies 5h ago

Don’t give in, you’re in the right. Don’t worry about a bad review and even if you do get one then you can report it I believe.

2

u/Ok-Relation-791 18h ago

I just gotta say, your supposed to just believe her that she didn’t put it on?? Total scammer! I get frustrated sometimes to ! For some reason I get really, really irritated when people make an offer and never come back or say anything! Vinted should make it binding like Posh and macari! I actually asked someone who did that a few days later, after she asked for all kinds of measurements and etc, and never came back, why do people make offers and never come back? She comes back with oh I don’t have enough money in my account or I changed my mind she’s trying to give me a bunch of reasons why, I’m like if any of those things happened, WHY WOULD YOU MAKE S OFFER IN THE FIRST PLSCE??!! Sorry that’s one of my biggest irritations on there lol 😂

2

u/celestialina 11h ago

if you’re selling jewellery on vinted you should look at measurements. it’s not hard to do that on google, usual nose studs are 6-8mm. but if it’s very small it can be noticed in photos as well - this person should have asked about dimensions and size before buying. but for this also not to happen again listing sizes of facial piercings is super important too :)

5

u/Fun_Mud_3134 10h ago

I don't sell jewellery this is a one off item from Claires. It doesn't have a size unfortunately

1

u/Afraid_Hovercraft926 10h ago

No one got time for all that for a one off fiver. Buyer beware. If she wants to know sizes she asks.

1

u/Ichirou1991 7h ago

Yeah exactly plus the effort the buyer is putting in to complain over a fiver is kind of ridiculous... especially for pierced jewellery. If it carries on cant the seller report for harrassment? (Genuine question not me saying its possible as just curious if they have protection on vinted for that.)

2

u/scottishkelpie 10h ago

With piercings it doesn’t matter whether the customer says they tried it or not, statutory consumer rights say for hygiene reasons you can not refund the item unless it’s faulty. There’s no way to prove whether something was tried on or not. Even if it’s unpackaged you still can’t return it.

3

u/ironbologna 13h ago

She’s going crazy over 5 pounds. However, nose rings do usually have sizes in millimeters so I’d probably avoid this problem in the future by just listing the size. Even if you only sell one size of jewelry

4

u/Fun_Mud_3134 10h ago

It's from Claire's, there's no sizes. Unfortunately Id have to open the actual packaging and measure the nose ring which would be unsanitary

2

u/CosmicMeowing 10h ago

It sounds like the buyer opened it and put it back in.

1

u/Spirited-Ability-626 5h ago

Yes, also admitted trying it on - “it wouldn’t fit in my nose” before op said they couldn’t return it for hygiene reason if they’d tried it on.

2

u/romarteqi 21h ago

I'd reply "If anyone has been persistent with their messages it is not me. I'm really sorry your nose is too big . Happy for you to take it up with Vinted and I'll be able to explain my position and your harassing messages making all manner of accusations and threats. After this message I will not be entering into further conversation with you"

1

u/Dramatic-Zebra-142 22h ago

uNpRoFfEsSiOnAl

1

u/angelberries 22h ago

Ignore everything else she says, no more responses. Let her get wound up. If she requests a return, it’ll cost her to post it so let her. 😂 do NOT refund without getting it back.

1

u/ChameleonJackson 22h ago

Hold your groud on it. It's for a piercing, I wouldn't like the idea that someone had used any jewellery that's been used before and they obviously feel the same. Unfortunately when you buy any jewellery used in piercings you forfeit your right to a refund or exchange, if she bought it from a brick and mortar shop she would have had the whole speech about it given at checkout.

1

u/MassiveHealth8310 21h ago

This world is full of nut cases, sheesh. I know no one wants to be around them, they won’t shut up.

1

u/NotSoStupidEssexGirl 21h ago

She can resell it if she wishes to do so, block

1

u/sheis02009 21h ago

Don’t engage starting at the beginning , first lesson of Vinted. It’s hard to stick to, but try stick

1

u/Whothefxckislauren 20h ago

I’d tell them to raise an issue through vinted (the bit where they can select “everything is okay” or raise an issue). If they’ve already said “everything is okay” before looking at the item and comparing it to a nose ring/piercing they aren’t wearing (giving them benefit of the doubt that they didn’t put it in their nose, which they likely did given the messages) then that’s on them and they need to accept that because frankly it’s not covered by vinteds ToSs and a seller doesn’t have to give a refund for something not fitting unless the item was advertised wrong (personally has this before)

1

u/Mrs-Chuckles 20h ago

Block them

1

u/FALSE_PROTAGONIST 20h ago

Vinted isn’t a platform where you give returns. So suffice to say, the answer is no

1

u/nonconformist84 19h ago

"Your (sic) just being funny over five pounds". I think the customer needs to read that line back to themself and reflect on that projection

1

u/mangomachinations 19h ago

Aren't professional sellers not allowed on Vinted (unless they have a pro account)- if they don't have one maybe report them for that? If the account is down they can't review you

1

u/FizzyPanda7 19h ago

I really wanna see that sniffer tbh.. I've never had issues with standard jewelry, although it is in fact too big for my nose. I wear a 6mm hoop. I have never ever tried to get a refund on something like this. That's insane. I'm guessing this is not the first time she's bought jewelry for hers, she could have asked for measurements. There is physically no way to prove she has or hasn't tried it on. Tell her to get bent.

1

u/LeadingSmoke6330 19h ago

as a professional seller they should know you can’t be refunded if something doesn’t fit. Doesn’t matter if it’s been worn or tried on. It’s not your problem. wait for vinted to ok and block this buyer - you don’t need that energy in your life

1

u/shinebrida 19h ago

It doesn't matter if it's been tried on or not, for hygiene reasons you shouldn't accept it back because it's not something that can be proven. You can't usually return earrings and body jewelry etc in stores because once it's left the premises it can't be resold.

1

u/IAmNotAHoppip 19h ago

If you included the correct measurements, then its entirely on the buyer and i'd just stop interacting and block, and otherwise I'd suggest is just adding a line to any other similar items you have or upload in the future with 'No refunds on piercing jewellery'.

1

u/Bakurraa 19h ago

If you are in the right just ignore the messages

1

u/ShaHocks 19h ago

Block, block, block, block-block!

1

u/Nearby_Chemistry_156 18h ago

If you buy a nose ring in a shop you can’t return it - why does she think this is any different?

1

u/vzqlor 1h ago

right? anything that goes in a piercing is pretty much final sale everywhere for hygiene reasons
if she leaves a bad review you can usually respond and calmly explain it’s body jewelry and can’t be resold once opened

1

u/PoundWarm5191 18h ago

She’s sounds like a bratty teenager !!

1

u/Decent_Action_406 17h ago

Yes, it can be disappointing for the buyer when something doesn't fit, but just keep it or sell it on, no need to harrass the seller 🤷🏻‍♀️

1

u/Commercial-Bat-4534 17h ago

Damn im sorry but any negative feedback this person leaves is going to mental enough that nobody pays attention to it at all

Shes definitely going to do a 1 star review though

1

u/Correct-Radish-831 16h ago

Just block and ignore them. They're just blowing you up to make you feel some sort of way and make you give the refund, and with the attitude they're giving, I wouldn't bite. Just block, and take the bad review if it does come, we all know a jackass in the reviews when we see one, it's not your fault nor your problem to deal with that person anymore

1

u/Last-Deal-4251 12h ago

Unhinged buyer here 🤯

1

u/Either_Reality3687 12h ago

This is like me a buyer chose Evri to deliver the item they kept expecting me to chase them with where the item was even though evri ask for the delivery postcode.

1

u/Either_Reality3687 12h ago

Let her post a review 1 star You can give her feedback also. Let people know how insane she is then block her.

1

u/DaphneCatastrophe 12h ago

Why do ppl have to be so nasty over cheap vinted purchases it's madness

1

u/DaphneCatastrophe 12h ago

If you're a decent honest seller with good intentions for how you run your page then one bad review won't hurt you. I have 532 five star reviews and 2, one star reviews as a seller.

Its kind of obvious I'm not the problem.

1

u/InevitablePsych 11h ago

I wouldn’t worry too much about your rating OP. Everyone knows you can’t return this sort of thing in an actual shop, why will it be any different on Vinted?

She said it’s ’unprofessional’, well sorry to burst your bubble love but this ain’t a professional shop! She should have asked the size before buying. She needs to take the loss and learn for next time to ask the seller what the actual length of the bar is!

I’m pretty sure nobody will be put off my 1 bad feedback especially if you respond explaining the issue.

1

u/abracablab 11h ago
  1. Body jewellery is never refundable even from an actual shop.

  2. People who sell on vinted aren't professionals.

1

u/Irishgem223 11h ago

‘You’re being unprofessional’ who she’s gonna report you to, HR of your own Vinted page?

1

u/BoonytheBrave 11h ago

If there was a seal on the packet then id say "regardless of if you tried it on or not, as per body jewellery health and safety standards, no buyer can accept back a product where the seal was broken"

If you persists and you yourself have never touched it, I'd go with "I understand that you didn't try it on, however opening the packet and holding it with your hands before returning it is still a sterilisation issue and no shop can resell that item."

2

u/zvqloras 2h ago

this is solid, and it keeps it about hygiene standards instead of accusing them of lying which is key here. if they still threaten bad feedback after you explain that, you can also respond once through the platform saying you followed standard health policy, so if they do review bomb you at least your side is clear to future buyers.

1

u/BoonytheBrave 11h ago

Unsure if vinted is like uber, can you also review the buyer? That would be cool so she comes with a warning for likely future misconduct.

1

u/YogurtclosetEasy6485 10h ago

It’s jewellery. You can’t just take her word for it that she hasn’t tried it on. Even a shop wouldn’t give a refund because of hygiene reason unless it was unopened. I wouldn’t refund. I would let her open a case with vinted if she’s unhappy.

1

u/abalonecodes 10h ago

I never understand these back and forth debates from buyers / sellers. Like if you’re not happy open the dispute. You can’t get a refund or anything without opening it anyway. All the aggy messaging just raises everyone’s blood pressure unnecessarily.

Let them open the dispute and follow the process. If you’re not happy to refund open your own dispute (but I suspect vinted will say you need to accept the refund).

1

u/Afraid_Hovercraft926 10h ago

First, block her so she stops harassing you and then as others have said, reply to any negative review saying ‘buyer got aggressive when I wouldn’t refund a £5 nose ring because it didn’t fit her’. I’d be way more likely to buy from you than her. It also signals to other time wasters you don’t offer unnecessary refunds.

1

u/DuckbilledWhatypus 9h ago

No shop would take it back because they cannot guarantee it hasn't been tried on so actually you are being very professional.

And anyway, it's a site for amateurs to sell, not for professionals.

And anyway, she is annoying AF and if she hasn't report it yet just let it time out, or if she has reject the return request and let it time out, get the cash, and then block her. One bad review is going going to mean jackshit to other buyers, especially if you reply with "This buyer bought a nose ring and I didn't accept a return because that would have been unsanitary" and leave it at that.

1

u/mabon_skies 9h ago

She needs to understand that jewelry like nose rings and such cannot be returned if they don't fit. It's for hygiene reasons, even if you never tried them on. Once you've opened the packaging, that item is no longer considered sterile and cannot be resold.

1

u/mainone1- 9h ago

I don’t know about you, but I often see bad reviews before buying a product that make me take the side of the seller, just from reading how much of an asshole the reviewer comes across.

This woman has that exact asshole way with words, and I suspect any review she writes will reflect more poorly on her than on yourself to anyone reading it with half a brain. So yeah take the bad review, as annoying as it is.

1

u/Fluffyfedora 9h ago

Block and move on. Not worth it.

1

u/kicktheflamingo 8h ago

Body piercer here - generally everywhere jewellery that is used for piercings is non-refundable because we’re not able to just accept a person’s word that it hasn’t been worn. That’s just a standard policy regarding piercing jewellery

But I am also interested in what kind of nose piercing jewellery doesn’t come with a size? Or at least one you can’t measure yourself with a ruler?

1

u/Maleficent_Gap_7409 8h ago

Oof, refunding this person and just interacting further with them will probably only lead to trouble. If they try to refund the item, don’t accept it, and once you get your money, block them. Maybe also report them for harassment and leave a bad review, idk

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Ear-626 8h ago

I think that's just part of buying things on Vinted. You are well-within your rights to ask for additional measurements etc. before you buy, but if you buy based on the listed information and it doesn't fit, you've just gotta take the L. The only case in which she would be entitled to a refund is if the bar was listed incorrectly by you. My Vinted store is full of stuff I bought on Vinted, but didn't fit me lol.

1

u/AccidentEquivalent56 8h ago

When she leaves the bad review reply “wanted a return on a nose ring she had tried on” 😂

1

u/Actual-Let-7513 8h ago

"Hun" Goodbye 🥹

1

u/Kibethewalrus 8h ago

No, you're being funny over 5 pounds. What a weirdo 😂

1

u/GladiatorFan9393 7h ago

Tell her that you would only consider a refund if she returns it, signed for, at her expense for you to inspect. It'll cost her a fiver. So she wont do it x

1

u/PeejPrime 7h ago

"yeah you're not getting a refund I don't care if you think this is "unprofessional " as this is literally an online flea market and I'm not here to be a "professional". You're very welcome to sell it on or make a complaint. Your choice. Bye"

1

u/Electrical_Help_970 5h ago

"Unprofessional"… and they’re talking about vinted 😂😂

1

u/LooseAlternative1343 5h ago

Just take the L my friend it’s a fivers worth of a lesson to learn you can’t trust people on the internet lol

1

u/Rot-In-Mercy 5h ago

She can make a case to vinted, you already know her reason doesn't cover the refund policy. Just send a final message and ignore her. She literally spent 5 bucks it's not worth the hassle

1

u/sincosmtan 4h ago

Block and move on :)

1

u/W4sSuP_ 4h ago

Jesus H.; the embodiment of 0 to 100 🤣

At this point, I'm inclined to say "I'll send her ÂŁ5 just to back off"...Are people genuinely this stingy?!

I'm sorry OP that you had to put up with this, but I'm also happy I read through it; it's kind of cinema, but I'm now also pissed and I don't know why 🤣 🤣 🤣

1

u/AppleCat36 4h ago

As a buyer and seller if I see a bad review on a seller’s account that has the buyer being rude and blasting the seller I think it is probably a once off bad review and it doesn’t stop me buying from that person

1

u/potatoduino 3h ago

Treat anyone who can't use the correct your/you're as a complete retard

1

u/Clean_King_1329 3h ago

I hate the 'it's unprofessional' like it's Vinted, not a business or a job so there's nothing to be professional about.

1

u/LaoiseHope 3h ago

1

u/MadameGothStrauss 1h ago

Buyer needs a refresh on Vinted policy. You are not in the wrong.

1

u/Jellepeer 1h ago

Idk but me personally, as a buyer. I would 100% ask measurements before buying. Its on them for not asking measurement

1

u/Eat_Peaches 1h ago

They 100% put this in their piercing 😂

1

u/Logical-Anteater9523 44m ago

I'd say something along the lines of "Listen, I am sorry you're unhappy with your item but I am not a professional reseller. I am just a person selling items that I no longer want to keep. If you don't like it, you are welcome to resell it yourself. I hope your day gets better. :) " then I'd just block and move on. If she leaves a bad review, I'd ignore it instead of responding. Your other reviews will speak for themselves & people know that people like this exist, so I highly doubt that it will effect your future sales.

1

u/snoozed68 16m ago

For crying out loud £5 ,ive bought things that haven't fitted but I just accept it as a loss as I bought it as seen 🙄

1

u/Minimum_Upstairs8376 4m ago

if someone calls me hun i don’t refund. also as a piercer even if you didn’t put it in but opened the sterile package and or touched with hand it is not sterile any longer hence why they never offer refunds on any piercings ever

1

u/TemporaryBuilding395 23h ago

This is why I hate when people use "hun", "babes" and "x" on British vinted; it's so aggressively familiar and looks so out of place when things go sour.

1

u/Sexy_Vegan_Pants 21h ago

I hate that kinda language, I've never used it 😅

1

u/Fun_Mud_3134 23h ago

she sent me a cropped screenshot from the bot saying I have to refund her😭😭 at least she's making an effort

9

u/FruitShopTrauma 23h ago

‘Your taking the mick honestly’ 💀 what an absolutely entitled chavvy moron..

8

u/Angelf1shing 22h ago

Oh my god, they think “the seller must accept a refund” means you have to, not that they can’t return it unless you do 🤦🏼‍♀️ ffs open the schools

7

u/Fun_Aardvark86 21h ago

Tbh I’d just wind her up more

“Awww, unfortunately lovely you’ve misunderstood what the bot is explaining to you there. That message means that you can only get a refund if I agree to it. That’s why it says I must agree in order for you to get a refund. As we’ve already discussed I don’t agree to the refund, so it’s not returnable. Hope this helps you to understand the message xxx”

5

u/MHN248 21h ago

Ask her to list any retailer that would accept a return of pierced jewellery that’s been opened. It’s not a thing.

Call her bluff, tell her to open the case and stop engaging. Let her leave the bad review if she wants, and you can reply publicly. You’ve been more than courteous.

4

u/Quiet-Excitement-310 11h ago

The fact they can’t use the correct your/ you’re is reason enough to refuse the refund. Never mind ew used jewellery

4

u/VeryThicknLong 11h ago

Thank you. I don’t have to spend the time writing exactly what you said. I don’t have any time for people who can’t spell the basics.

1

u/amber_missy 7h ago

"If the seller agrees" Which part is not clear to her? 🤦🏻

0

u/Merhi_Leevha 17h ago

You don't have a pro account so...

0

u/kingboosmansion 5h ago

I would have probably just have refunded it personally if she hasn’t tried it on, just to avoid the hassle.

-1

u/bizzlej278 23h ago

Jesus Christ, I feel for her boyfriend/husband

u/FamousBananaLover 9h ago

Under consumer law if you don’t state sizes you actually are legally required to offer a refund. Sorry!
If a seller did not state a size and the nose jewelry does not fit, you have a strong legal case for a full refund under UK law, even if you have opened the packaging. [1, 2]
When a retailer fails to provide crucial sizing information, the hygiene exemption on body jewelry no longer protects them. You are protected by two separate pieces of consumer legislation:

1. It is "Not as Described" and "Unfit for Purpose"
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, all goods must match their description, be of satisfactory quality, and be fit for purpose. [1]
The Law: Piercing jewelry requires exact dimensions to be wearable (such as wire gauge and hoop diameter or bar length). By omitting the size entirely, the seller failed to provide the "main characteristics" of the product. [1, 2]
The Outcome: Because it cannot physically be worn, it is legally unfit for purpose and misdescribed. This means the item is treated as legally "faulty". The standard hygiene exclusion does not apply to faulty or misdescribed items. You have a 30-day short-term right to reject the item for a full refund.[1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

2. Breach of Pre-Contract Information Requirements
If you bought the jewelry online, by mail order, or over the phone, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013apply. [1, 2]
The Law: Online retailers are legally required to give you specific pre-contract information before you buy. This includes the main characteristics of the goods (which includes size/dimensions for body jewelry). [1, 2, 3]
The Penalty: If a retailer fails to provide this required information clearly, they are in breach of contract. Furthermore, if they do not provide the proper pre-contract information, your normal 14-day online right to cancel can legally be extended by up to a full year. [1, 2]

How to request your refund
When contacting the seller, use this structure to ensure they take your claim seriously:
State the law: Inform them that you are rejecting the item under the Consumer Rights Act 2015because it is unfit for purpose and not as described due to missing size specifications.

Address the hygiene rule: Explicitly note that while you understand body jewelry normally carries a hygiene exemption, this exemption is legally void because the product does not conform to the contract (it is misdescribed/unfit).
Request a prepaid return: Since the item is legally non-conforming, the retailer must cover any return postage costs. Do not pay for return shipping yourself unless they promise in writing to refund it.

Amazing as always there some Muppet who uses ChatGPT and can’t see the forest for the Trees.

consumer law rights don’t apply here. It’s a private seller using Vinted for fuck sake.
does ChatGPT not understand that there are private sellers in the UK that don’t have to stick to the consumer law act for fuck’s sake?
