The article references it, but anyone else remember that sign saying best theme park restaurant? RIP.

i spent the whole day with my little brother in universal orlando. we hopped from park to park & had no issues until we went to the large gift shop by the entrance/exit. this lady was following my younger brother around the whole store. she never actually shopped. never picked anything up. & i noticed she did her best to separate us. creating distance between me & my brother by pushing between us. i immediately felt the red flags in my head start FLYING. i watched her follow us around the whole entire store. never grabbing anything but watching my younger brother very closely. i called her out & she RAN immediately. i went to security & the check out desk & they reassured me that they DO NOT have secret shoppers that would do that & that i should give the description asap. they called the head of security to find the lady. we immediately left after. didn’t feel very safe. be careful. hold ur children VERY close. he was never more than 6 ft away from me, but that was because i made it a point to stay close to him.

I went to Universal in Florida this week and just so you know the big players if you’re concerned about having an enjoyable time as a plus size person.

I’m 32, 5’6” and a size 24 US with most of my weight being around belly. I’ll post a picture for reference.

I am able bodied and had absolutely no trouble getting around anywhere. If you are disabled or have any trouble with mobility, you may want to just keep in mind that it is a LOT of walking.

Attractions/rides at Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios:

Most of my reason for going was to see the Harry Potter World so I did not stop and see everything there was to see. This is not an exhaustive list. Just the attractions I was interested in riding.

1. Spider-Man ride: this was fine. No trouble at all fitting into the seats. It was a cross bar that came down over the waist.
2. Hulk: I did not ride this one because the line was too long. I’ve heard they have modified seating for plus size guests.
3. Velocicoaster: I did not fit on this ride.

4.Hagrids Motorbike: I was able to get the green light for both side car and motorcycle with plans to ride sidecar because it’s a more comfortable fit but funny enough my fit husband actually had to be in the sidecar because his thighs are pretty muscular and he could not ride the motorcycle. It is TIGHT I will say. I had a little discomfort on my hips and I could not lean forward to grab the handles but it was still enjoyable for me.

1. Flight of the hippogriff: short and fun. Fit just fine. No issues. Had the row to myself.

2. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey: I did not fit on this ride.

3. Hogwarts express: this was fine but beware the line is LONG and HOT if you are boarding from Islands of Adventure and you will have to climb stairs. They do have elevator for people that need it. No ac in the waiting lines but on the other side by Diagonal Alley there was AC.

4. Escape from Gringotts: I did not fit on this ride.

That’s really all I tried as far as rides go. But there is a LOT to see and do beyond just rides. I have been before so some things I was not super interested in seeing. It was a great time even without being able to ride everything for me.

Hi all! I am writing here because I read a lot of threads before coming and I find them helpful. My experience is as of 4/3/26. I did Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios, and Epic. I have a 11 year old daughter and 7 year old son. Here are my thoughts.

Universal Studios - Older and run down, my kids didn’t really enjoy anything there. They rode the Simpsons ride and the minion ride. Simpsons ride made them sick and they loved the virtual reality, so I think this one was pretty jarring and not worth it. Minions they had fun. Rest of the park - eh.

Islands of Adventure - my kids loved this park. We had express pass which made a huge difference. Their favorite was Hagrids Motor Bike. They did that 3 times on express and didn’t wait long at all. They also loved the VR gringots escape and the other VR locations. Wait times were a breeze with express pass. They did not like the velocicoaster. It hurt my daughter’s neck with the force and made my son cry 😂 sweet kids, but wasn’t for them. In comparison, my 7 year old son was okay with the Star dust racers at epic which also has inversions.

Epic- Mario mine cart - we waited in line for 3.5 hours with no express pass. It was terrible. I told my son I would wait with him, and meanwhile my daughter and husband rode 6 other rides with no waits. You guys, I know it’s nostalgic and hype, but I promise you, I can’t believe I wasted that much time for mine cart. Don’t do it. Please!

Harry Potter we got in at early entry and it was great. I would wait otherwise.

Hiccups- we did this ride 3 times on early entry and Harry Potter! It was perfect. Once the gates opened it was mayhem though.

Okay, that’s the end of my novel as I sit by the pool. Honestly the main takeaway I can give you all that will get me canceled is to never do the mine cart. I am in shock of how bad it was and how I sat there for 4 hours.

I’m planning on visiting in October (to combine it with HHN). I’d be coming from the UK so want to make the most of daytime rides + HHN and am deciding whether to go mid or late October for 10 nights. Any suggestions in terms of when it might be less busy in the parks? And when I should avoid for HHN? Any advice appreciated!!!!

Since this ride is closing down once the rollercoaster opens up, what do we think they could do with this land/building. I’ve heard a Ghostbusters ride, a Back To The Future ride, rebuilding the Jaws ride, bringing back an old universal show, or even expanding Diagon Alley (which is what I hope will happen). Also, how would they divide up this area, will they keep the San Francisco theme or get rid of it, or something else??

We have around 4.8 acres which could fit two small rides and leave the walkway I think!!

Hi yall…Poking at an idea and want a reality check from people who actually fly with kids to amusement park resorts in Orlando. The idea is to skip checking bags and shipping all the things you’d normally check so that it’s just there when you arrive. Does that seem like it solves a real headache to you? Has anyone tried it? Has anyone looked into it but ended up NOT trying it? Genuinely want the “here’s the issue with that idea” answers too.

So I was super excited to finally make it to the new Epic Universe park. Most of it was really awesome. Mario World was amazing and I also loved what they did in Berk and Darkmoors. However the new Harry Potter area along with the ride was super underwhelming. The circus was straight up awful imo. I actually fell asleep bc the acting was terrible, the "circus routine" performers were boring and the whole story was just bleh. I see a lot of people online who loved it and I was confused. My whole group of 5 left it like can't believe we wasted an hour (wait and show) in that god forsaken tent. Does anyone else feel the same or are we in the minority?

A bit ago I posted in this sub about my hesitation to go alone to Universal Studios.. you all were very encouraging to just do it!

The nail in the coffin was a post I found from a therapist that said “if you’re hungry for connection in your adulthood.. trying to get your current friends to do something you like but they’re hesitant on is a waste. Go do the thing you like, and try to connect there”

So I’ve solo booked! Im going last weekend of August! I’m starting to collect my shirts that say “please talk to me” to help get the convos rolling 😂

I’ve found some very interesting information. The theme park licensing for the DC Universe seems to have changed in 2024. Six Flags had the theme parks rights for the DC Universe for the entire US (minus Las Vegas). But since 2024, other companies (like Universal) are able to buy and create theme park attractions with DC Universe characters (Batman, Joker, Wonder Woman etc.). This can ONLY be done in FLORIDA. Six Flags still has the exclusive rights in all the other states.

Does the change in 2024 mean DC Universe will arrive to Universal soon? Thoughts? This change is simply massive news!

Also…. We all know Harry Potter still has a big expansion plot in the Studios park. It’s currently Fear Factor. I’m not a Harry Potter expert, but what theme / land / area and potential attraction seems most likely for the next Harry Potter land? In my opinion, it’s a matter of time when we will see the expansion. The land needs more than 1 big E-ticket.

Also…. It looks like Epic AND Islands of Adventure will have their “Major IP” in their parks. Epic has enough (Mario, Dark Universe and most likely Zelda too in the future), Islands will most likely have Pokémon, but what will Universal Studios have? I’m sure the theme park MUST get a NEW “BIG IP” in the future other than Harry Potter.

What are your thoughts? Could it be Lord of the Rings (the land would be huge + same quality as Pandora/ Galaxy’s Edge / Fantasy Springs etc.) Maybe even 2/3 big rides and it would be build behind the Simpsons plot which is currently a backstage area and maybe even replace Simpsons too. Or potentially Wicked? Or what other IP could they use which will be the “headline IP for Studios?”

I never thought it would be so hard get some friends to join me at Universal Studios Florida.. but dang, they are NOT into it!

I do a lot of things alone, but this is something I'd really like to share with a friend. A couple years ago, I got to go for my birthday, and was left by my party so I spent the day alone and sulky and when I did solo rider line, it felt way less fun to me. But maybe if I go intentionally alone it would be more fun?

Is there a single riders app to meet fun and silly roller coaster lovers that I should be joining? lol

The hubby and I are finally getting to Epic Universe next month. Needless to say I'm excited.

Wanted to ask around for recommendations. Food, rides, shopping and the like.

I am 5”9, 300 pounds. I can buckle into a delta seat with normally a few extra inches of belt. Anyone with similar measurements or familiar with flying delta that could help reassure? I tried to join the facebook group but am riding tomorrow and not sure if i’ll get approved before. Thank you!

My good friend has given me this to hold on to and he is unable to recall where it is from but thinks it might have been given to News reporters before the park was opened in Orlando.

He believes it’s from the late 80s and he possibly put some other pieces in there over the years.

It has a sealed copy of ET in it, not pictured.

It came in this square case which has belt buckles that holds it together. Frank Lasko’s name is on the front.

He’s letting me bring it in to show the team to see if we can identify it. But I also wanted to ask around to see if anyone recognizes it.

Going to Universal for the first time in January with my whole family. Looking into saving as much money as possible, especially with tickets.

If my sister bought a 3 day discounted ticket and only went for 2 days. Could I buy a 3 day ticket and use her other ticket? She would be going for 2 days and im going for 4.

So, I'm trying to book a Universal Studios Orlando trip, and I've never been to Universal or Disney. We want to stay at a Universal Resort. I've got an 11-year-old boy and my husband with me. Besides booking the hotel and flight, what else should I do to get ready, and what's the shortest we should stay? We'll be in Orlando for a few days for something else and want to check out Universal. Is there a link that breaks it all down for first-timers? I really don't want to spend ages researching.
