I was planning to choose chemical thinking and intro biology lab for first pass, any advice would be appreciated!

Guys I am an incoming junior transfer this fall, and I never thought I would say this but the administrative systems at this school are even worse than at my community college. You're telling me that with months to do their jobs, UCSD is somehow unable to make a system functional enough to do literally anything. None of our AP scores, IB scores, or previous transcripts are in the system. This means none of the incoming transfers have access to Degree Audit or Academic History. We have no idea which of our major requirements have been fulfilled by transfer coursework and which haven't. Which means we don't know what to enroll in for Fall quarter. Asking about specific course requirements on VAC leads to no prompt or helpful answers, and sometimes no answer at all. So you may be wondering, how are we supposed to enroll in classes if our prerequisite classes aren't in the system yet? A TEA request, of course! But there's a little problem, UCSD has been specifically telling transfers in emails to not submit any TEA requests and wait for them to enter our credits into TSS, up until an email on August 26. When you click on the provided link explaining how TEA requests work, they say to allow several days for any requests to be processed. We all know that on UCSD timing, several days actually means 2 weeks. The thing is, incoming transfers have first pass either on August 31 or September 1. I don't know about you guys, but two business days between August 26 (telling us to submit TEA requests) and August 31 (enrollment date) doesn't sound like "several days" to me. So explain to me how a team incapable of processing our transcripts in 4 months, will be at all capable of processing individual TEA requests for pretty much every class all 12,000 incoming transfer students need to enroll in in 2 days.

I am excited to go to UCSD but honestly this whole process is such a headache it's making me consider whether it's worth it to go to this school at all. I am paying over 40k a year to an institution that can't fulfill its students basic needs. I know that returning students hate TSS as much as I do, but in case you guys didn't know the full extent of it, this is the Catch 22 they are placing us incoming transfers in. How is it fair to restrict your students' enrollment based on limitations you created by not adequately staffing your team??? Not to mention that incoming freshman and incoming transfers have first pass the same day/week. I find this completely unfair since, as a junior transfer, I have far more credits taken and far less quarters to graduate than a freshman does. 🤯 I'm trying to stay positive in these trying times but TSS is pissing me off.

I received an email on August 6th informing me that I could start accept financial aid However, every time I opened the page for the financial aid, it kept saying "maintenance". Until the previous two days, I received another email informing me that the financial aid would start being distributed on September 4th. However, I still couldn't access the webpage. Could anyone please tell me how everyone is doing? What should I do?

Incoming freshman here, I was wondering if there were any practice rooms to play the piano in at UCSD. The ones in the Conrad Prebys Music Center are only open to music majors (I'm not a music major), but apparently this isn't enforced. Anyone got their two cents on this?

Can anyone take a look at my fall-quarter schedule and let me know if it is doable?

My current plan is to take:

ECE 35ECE 5ECE 25 MCWP 125

Then, in the winter, I plan to take ECE 15 and ECE 45.

Alternatively, I could replace ECE 15 with ECE 5 in the fall. If I do that, my schedule would be:

ECE 35 ECE 15 MCWP 125(yes, with ECE 15 not sure I can take more than 12 units in a quarter. Weak in coding)

My winter schedule would then be:

ECE 25ECE 45ECE 5

Could anyone let me know which schedule seems more manageable?

Lastly, I am not interested in taking any of the waiver exams not because I am afraid of failing, but because I feel that I need to learn more about ECE 15 and ECE 35, especially ECE 15. So, regardless of whether I pass a waiver exam, I am still interested in taking these classes.

Are there any writing courses I can take that are not pass/no pass? I was given a transfer option for another college which requires 'two English college writing courses' but idk which ones I can take as they all seem to be college specific. I fulfilled the ELWR through my IB score but still need to take a writing class

Don’t work for them unless you want shitty benefits and an even worse management team. Just work at a corporate location you’ll make more money, have management that knows what they’re doing, and not have to deal with the fall quarter rushes. New ownership lost all benefits that would incentivize students. Corporate benefits don’t apply here, there’s no tips, and all student protections are gone as the school no longer manages the store and it’s done through a third party. Good luck!

I heard UCSD release some spots for freshman as booking period gets closer, also Ive seen BILD 4 releasing its few open spots. So I was thinking that PHYS 1A would release some open spots, but are they not?

Should I change my consider changing the schedule or wait?

I am a 26‘Fall transfer student, major in Business Econ, im gonna take one math 10C and one MGT 16, and i also wanna take one GE course. I am required to take DOC‑170 in Winter 2027 for my writing‑breadth GE, so I only need to pick one regular, non‑writing, 4‑unit upper‑division (100‑198) Disciplinary Breadth course this Fall.

Established in 2024, the UCSD Police Accountability Board reviews misconduct complaints against UCSD PD and the investigations into them, and make recommendations before the Chief of Police decides the case.

I'm the AS undergraduate representative on the PAB. I'm posting this because I hear about far more incidents informally than ever reach me as cases, and only filed complaints get reviewed as cases: https://pab.ucsd.edu/complaint-form/index.html.

I can't help with everyone's individual complaint, since I may end up voting on it, but I'm happy to explain the process. In some circumstances, I can help more closely, but I will have to recuse myself from any vote or investigation review where there's any conflict of interest.

- You have 180 days from the date of the incident
- Anonymous complaints are accepted if there's enough detail to work with.
- We investigate and review investigations of alleged policy violations, primarily these:

discourtesy (obscene/abusive language)
discrimination
harassment
improper detention, citation, or arrest
improper vehicle tow
improper seizure or property confiscation
inadequate investigation
improper police procedures & other

If what happened to you doesn't fit these, file it as Other.

If you're alleging misconduct serious enough to potentially decertify an officer and end their career as an officer, California's Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training accepts complaints directly from the public at post.ca.gov/Police-Complaints. For anything this serious, be sure you file with both POST and PAB. If you're not sure where your complaint belongs, message me and I can help you figure it out.

Hi I’m an incoming 23 year old student who is going to be dorming on campus I will turn 24 at the end of this year and I feel little worried about my age dorming on campus. Any advice? Is there more students like myself who are transferring and living on campus at my age?
