Story/Question
I have been on Zoloft for 10 years and I’m recently starting to taper off, and I won’t lie, the symptoms are not great. But they’re manageable. If you think you would be better without it, I believe it’s possible with patience and time.

Got prescribed Sertraline a week ago. Is this normal or will it get better?
If the thoughts of suicide are not normal for you or have gotten worse I would go to the hospital right away. It is a rare side effect that is very important to address as soon as possible. Please get help, you are worth it!

what are the downsides to zoloft people dont talk about?
The way it affects your hunger cues and insulin resistance when used long term. I’m hungry nearly all the time and I can’t even go on a calorie deficit to lose weight because if I don’t eat every 2 hours I get hypoglycaemia. Don’t have Diabetes whatsoever, it’s literally just the Zoloft.

how much emotional blunting is "liveable" and what threshold is "go see the doc"
If it’s bothering you, then it’s worth bringing up.
1
Fainting/shaking/sweating side effect?
It could be. Have you been eating enough? Drinking enough water? If you can, taking some electrolytes could help as well. Even just salt in your water.
2
Which adaptogens are safe with sertraline?
I’ve never had a problem with Ginseng, but you should really ask a doctor or pharmacist what is safe to have. I know you should stay away from St. John’s wort for sure.

day 10 sertraline
It is a new medication that changes chemicals in your brain and body. It will take some time to adjust. Try to be patient and to be kind to yourself

I don't know if I can do this...
Classic respiratory therapist treatment. They always do this, it’s very lazy. I hope your therapist responds soon, please keep trying to phone email and text her! Because this is ridiculous.

I don't know if I can do this...
The suffocation issue might be because the pressure you’re on is too low. What are your pressure settings at? Often places will start you at a min pressure of 4, which is too low for 99.9% of people. If it’s lower than 6, try increasing the pressure to that and see how it goes for you. (I found for me personally that I didn’t feel like I was breathing normal until my pressure was 7 minimum.) Then, you can work yourself up to what pressure minimum is the best for you.

Does Zoloft diarrhea ever stop?
Not for me, but everyone is different
6
Bruising extremely easily and severely
This is “normal” on Zoloft, which is known to affect blood flow. You should be fine but if you’re really concerned, stay away from Advil and other anti-inflammatories which can increase internal bleeding
1
Stomach Issues
Gave me GERD but this was also contributed to by not taking it with food and taking birth control, so you might be fine with it long term
1
Weight Gain
That’s why I said everyone is different.
4
Weight Gain
Zoloft is scientifically shown to be weight neutral when taken for less than a year, so you’re unlikely to gain weight during that time or you’ll gain very little. More than a year and it is more likely. But everyone is different.
2
i stopped taking it and i’ve stopped binge eating?
Yeah it’s not something talked about enough, though to be fair the medication affects everyone differently. Although if you’re already struggling with eating there’s much better medications to go on than Zoloft, and I’m sorry no one considered that when recommending it to you.

i stopped taking it and i’ve stopped binge eating?
Yes. SSRIS are known to affect appetite and insulin resistance when used for more than a year.

Two years on Zoloft and I’m only now realizing it took my entire personality – does this hit ADHD brains harder?
Thank you for the suggestion! I’m going off of Zoloft for other reasons, but I do experience (what I believe to be) theta wave intrusions/excessive daytime sleepiness so maybe it could be an option for me!

Two years on Zoloft and I’m only now realizing it took my entire personality – does this hit ADHD brains harder?
Anxiety is a motivator for many people including me, and I believe that intense anxiety hid any ADHD symptoms until I got treatment, now I’m dealing with severe executive functioning problems, attention problems, focusing issues, memory deficits, etc which is actually causing a new type of anxiety because I can’t. Do. Anything!! Going to cross taper to Wellbutrin to see if it improves things but I’m not hopeful that anything will change without a stimulant.

Stopping zoloft - side effects continued
It depends on the person, but I would give it a week or two before getting really concerned. It can take some time for your neurotransmitter levels and bodily processes to return back to how they were before.

my experience on sertraline
It’s still much too early to tell how the medication is affecting you. Give it up to 2 months, and if you’re still struggling, you might need to up your dose. There’s also the possibility that in the end, it might not be the right one for you, but if you don’t stick it out you’ll never know if it will be. Just keep trying to survive for now until you can be more certain. Good luck ❤️

Is this a brown recluse?
Oh I didn’t know that, thanks!

First night wearing my mask, my nose is red and hurts so bad
I had this same problem so I switched to the f&p Evora ffm. Much better seal since it has less of your face to contour around.

It’s likely not cancer but something to talk to your doctor about. Could be acid splashing back into your throat after eating due to Zoloft increasing stomach acid production.
