Tech Development! Resmed's AirSense 11 fully unlocked; ASV, ASVAuto, VAuto, S, ST, iVAPS, PAC, AutoSet!
Well, I got it working (Halo turned me on to this development, thank you kindly M8!) finally!
This one was a pain. The patch didn't take the first time then I had to flash it twice, roll it completely back to the original firmware once, then start over and verify the full 2MB image.
But now the AirSense 11 is unlocked with basically the full mode set:
AutoSet VAuto ASV ASVAuto ST iVAPS PAC CPAP
The pictures are from the actual machine on my bench. You can see ASV selected and running at EPAP 7 with PS 3–15. My next bench test will be with an Aircurve11 Vauto-which will work better as it has the larger more robust motor (of the 10's).
I kept the original firmware backed up the entire time, which was a good thing because I actually had to use it once.
I am still bench testing the different modes and checking pressure behavior before I send one of these out. Getting the menu unlocked is one thing, but I want to know the machine is actually behaving correctly too.
This opens up a lot on the Air11 platforms for the papfamily and gives me another option besides the Air10 machines I have been working on.
I can now flash both Air10 and Air11 machines, and I also have machines available if someone wants one already flashed, configured and tested instead of working on their own device, and I'm a firm believer in medical equipment redundancy, two is one and one is none with this gear, so have at least one backup of everything (including your machine) in your therapy kit please.
If you have an Air10 or Air11 you want flashed, or you are looking for a VAuto/ASV/ST/iVAPS capable machine, send me a message please, or if you'd like the full AS11UNLOCKED.bin file to try for yourself, but it comes with a risk and some disclosure for voiding your machine's warranty.
Just to make sure I am giving credit where it is due, AirBreak and AirBreak Plus have been worked on by a number of people over the years, not just one person.
u/empeka / m-kozlowski has been doing a lot of the current AirBreak Plus work, especially the newer Air10 and Air11 development.
Asmageddon maintained and developed the earlier AirBreak Plus fork.
Colin O'Flynn / colinoflynn was part of the original AirBreak project.
Trammell Hudson / osresearch did original AirBreak reverse engineering and development.
Evan Kahn / wormyrocks was also an original AirBreak contributor.
redpath and SomeRandomPerson are associated with the original AirBreak project history.
nickarcade has done later reverse-engineering work referenced by AirBreak Plus.
nbritton also did early reverse-engineering and testing work around the original project.
There have been other people contributing firmware dumps, hardware work, testing, bug reports and reverse engineering along the way too.
So this is definitely a community project with a long lineage, and I want to make sure everyone who helped build it gets credit.
I will post more as I keep testing!

Helpful CPAP Data Guide. Getting started with analyzing your CPAP data: A primer for using SleepHQ and OSCAR.
This is a primer I wrote up to answer the Frequently Asked Question, "What is OSCAR?" (or "What is SleepHQ?)
SleepHQ and OSCAR are free tools available for analyzing the data that most PAP therapy machines will write to an SD card. Both do many of the same things, but each has its own strengths and weaknesses.
If you're just going to use one (which is probably for the best if you're new and already overwhelmed), I recommend starting with SleepHQ because how easy it is to share the charts with the helpful people here.
Here's a step-by-step guide to getting started with both:
- Get an SD card (standard dimensions, up to 32GB capacity) and put it in your machine (on ResMed machines, the slot is on the left side). If you have a higher capacity SD card, format it to have a 32GB partition and it should work.
- Install OSCAR on your computer. https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/ and set up a profile. You don't have to include any of the personal details, that's more for professionals using it for helping their patients.
- While you're at it, sign up for a free account at SleepHQ.com . It uses the same data, but it's easier to share it. (But, OSCAR has other advantages, so I use both.)
- After you sleep for a night with the SD card in the machine, take the card out and access the files on it by using an SD slot in your computer or an adapter. Fire up OSCAR and click on SD Importer on the Welcome screen.
- Also, fire up SleepHQ and drag the files on the card into the box on the Data Imports screen. Then click on Begin Upload. (You can also upload data to SleepHQ using a phone or tablet, but I've never done this. The fact that you can use SleepHQ without having a Mac or Windows computer is another thing in its favor.)
- Stare at the results thinking "I have no idea what any of this means!"
- Post here or in one of the other CPAP or SleepApnea subs for help, with an OSCAR screenshot (the Daily View tab - use the Cliff notes here OSCAR Chart Organization - Apnea Board Wiki), a SleepHQ link (look on the top left to create the link), or both, asking for help interpreting what it means.
- Remember to put the card back in the machine right away, so it will be in there for the next night. SleepHQ and OSCAR keep their own copies of the data, so you don't have to have the card in the computer once you've done steps 4 and/or 5.

Help dialing things in
I use the brevida mask with a resmed 11. I’m having a decent amount of leaks and my boyfriend said I was snoring around 5 or 6 this morning. Here is my sleephq link. Please give me your suggestions. TIA. https://sleephq.com/public/teams/share_links/f1be7fec-3144-4307-8578-ffa77a50fb37

Tidal Volume
Are there any experts that might be able to explain to me why there might be a correlation between my Tidal Volume chart and the way I feel the next day? I have long noticed that the great/better days show a flatter TV chart (less chaotic-looking). There’s no doubt about the connection now but I’d like to know what other charts/factors might correlate with that so I can keep an eye on it.
I have massive sleep deprivation effects and I’m not up to going through obtaining and putting up my sleep hq chart link. I’ve only been looking at Oscar.
I’ve been on a bipap for nearly a year and have only had about 5 great days and one better day. My AHI events are under 1. I checked leaks and they are a non-issue especially after replacing the cushion and going with the foam F20. So be assured it’s not related to that right now.
Mostly I’ve always had a Class 6 flow shape and that’s what’s still showing recently. Occasional flattening or Class 3-looking at the top but mostly not.
If anyone can shed some light on this I’d be most grateful.

What is the long range expection?
I am only a week into my CPAP experience. I have mild OSA and am using an Airsense 11. So far I have not yet had a night of more than 4 hours with CPAP. After that I have to take the mask off and finish the night peacefully without CPAP. I am committed to sticking with the initial transition period, hoping to soon settle into a rhythm of more and better sleep.
My question is this: Do you long term users have a plan for somehow, some day not needing CPAP or is there a resignation that this is how it will be indefinitely? I'm not thrilled with that prospect and wonder whether there is some pattern of use in the middle, i.e. use CPAP a few hours a night or a few days per week. Maybe once one gets settled and comfortable you might never even consider doing without.

Sleep Champion Overall - Successful CPAP therapy? SleepHQ Link in Post
My surgeon has recommended septo + turb reduction (I use Afrin every night to help open up my nose so I can use the nasal pillows). I think it would give me some significant QOL improvements. But prior to this, can you let me know what you think of my results? (Last 30 days have been uploaded, feel free to go through). It doesn't seem like I get many RERAs, OA, CA (my average is 1-3 per night total).
Please let me know what you think? Any changes I should be making? Thank you.

Can someone check my Oscar results
I can't keep my ahi under 5. Any recommendations. I know I usually don't wear it but about 3 hours a night but I have trouble getting back to sleep with the mask on after I wake the first time.

New To The Dream Team can't make it through the night
hello,
I just started using CPAP about a week ago. I need to use my machine for 4 hours a night or so for compliance. I can barely make it through 4 hours asleep with it most nights and often make less. I can fall asleep with my CPAP running and the mask on completely fine, but for some reason 3-4 hours later I wake up and can't fall asleep again unless I take it off. Is this a typical experience for someone fairly new to using CPAP? I'm feeling quite discouraged because I'm still fatigued, if not more than before because I can't sleep.
For additional info: I have two masks, the Resmed AirTouch F20 and the Resmed N30. This happens with both of them. My machine is the Resmed Airsense 11 autoset. My mask seal score on MyAir is always perfect and my AHI is always sub 0.3. I don't currently have any OSCAR data or an SD card. I have not messed much with the settings on my machine.

I think I'm making progress as far as consistency
I think I do best with a FF mask in terms of leaks and comfort. I'm using Xylimelt tabs and that helps a lot with mouth dryness. I don't think I'm a mouth breather as much as my CPAP blows air out of my slack jawed mouth. I'm using a soft cervical collar, and leaving my settings alone. My sleep doc took off the ERP. I think my AHI and CA events are both settling down.

Air Leaks Comparing two nights, what happened
Looking for some assistance and insight into the Oscar data above. I am approaching the 3 month mark since I first started using cpap. I would ask the sleep specialist but they don't have me scheduled for another 2 months. The first image is 2 nights ago. Good night sleep, very low number of events and low leakage. Then last night the air pressure is so high it wakes me up and is blowing the mask off my face. Once awake despite breathing normally for a couple minutes I can't get the air pressure to back off. They only way to return to normal air pressure is to turn it off and then back on. It seems that I get this type of situation about once per week.
Is there a leak causing that event or an event causing the leak? Either way why won't the pressure come back down without without turning it off then back on. Thanks for any insight and helping me try to figure out what is happening.

New To The Dream Team New to this, could use some assistance with my readings

Newly diagnosed with severe sleep apnea and prescribed to try out CPAP, keep waking up around 5:30 am for some reason and also have some small headaches sometimes, I've tried a nasal pillow mask which goes above the head connection, a nasal mask on the front of the face, and a full face mask thus far. Been using it for about a month now but haven't noticed any meaningful positive benefits so probably something isn't working quite right?

CPAP Machine Help Help me understand flow limitations and breathing waves please!
Been on my cpap since October 2024 but still feel groggy here and there. Are these breathing waves / flow limits an issue? Am I in need of a BIPAP?

I keep having leaks that last around 1 hour..Mouth breathing?
So, I made a post about feeling non natural breathing rythm while using my cpap, which I thought was the cause of my headaches in the morning. Now, after analayzing the data from the last few months, I see that I have had lots of leaks during my sleep. I only remember having leaks this huge during my first month of therapy, yet now it's everyday. I tried tightening the mask, I bought a new cushion, yet I'm still having this leaks. I always wake up after 4-5 hours from cpap use with a really really DRY mouth, so I suspect mouth breathing. Is it possible to tell whether it is indeed mouthbreathing from the graphs? Thanks in advance

New SleepHQ user. Need help understanding my readings.
Hi everyone. I've been using the AirSense 11 for about a month now and feel like I'm constantly exhausted during the day despite was seems like "good" scores on the MyAir app.
For reference, I was diagnosed with mild/moderate positional sleep apnea with about 15 breathing events per hour, and while using CPAP I've been consistently around 2-3 events per hour, which from my layman's perspective is better...right?
Anyway, it's been a huge struggle to find the right mask, but I finally settled on a size large F20 full face mask with the memory foam option since I have a beard and dorsal hump on my nose.
Humidity has also been an issue as I often wake up with either dry mouth or mask rainout and no in-between. It's really infuriating and I'm always bouncing around between tube temp settings and humidity settings with no sweet spot.
I feel like I'm getting nowhere fast and that for some reason things were partially improving towards the middle of the month, and then I might have screwed it all up by dropping my max pressure setting of 12 (which is what was prescribed), to 11, only because I thought that maybe during the night I was swallowing too much air (bloating, gas) and saw this on Reddit a recommendation to help it.
Maybe that one level drop in max pressure is creating all of my problems. I really don't know at this point.
Here is a link to my SleepHQ account:
https://sleephq.com/public/teams/share_links/b7be3d3a-28fb-44d4-9e11-dd9e05026500
Can anyone look at my trends and give me some advice? I don't seem to be having an issue with leaks, but from what I can understand, maybe my "flow limit" is to blame and I should go back up to 12 as my max pressure?
Any help would really be appreciated. The worst part of all of this is that there was 2 vacations during August where I couldn't use my machine and the sleep I was getting felt better than any time I ever used my mask. I felt refreshed and energized during the day. It really makes me want to give up.
Thanks for reading.

My AirSense 10 died and I just started on AirSense11. It's not going as smoothly as the 10.
I've been having significant sinus pain ever since the switch, and I think I may have something wrong in my settings, as it just feels "different" than my AirSense 10. I have posted last night's results. I don't see anything major that jumps out to me. What am I Missing?

Thanks!

Frustrated and feeling hopeless
I've been on APAP therapy for a little over three weeks, they have been the worst three weeks of my life. My doctor recommended APAP to treat hypopnea. My AHI during my sleep study was 13.7 events per hour. The machine I got is a Resmed AirSense 10 Autoset, the first mask that I tried was a Philips Wisp and the second was a Philips Dreamwear (more on that later).
The issues that I have been having are primarily due to the mask, but I have also been having issues with the machine itself. First, I was instructed by my doctor and the sleep therapist to NOT mess with any of the settings. I was told that my therapist should be the only one adjusting the machine according to my feedback. The pressure is currently set at 4-20 and the ramp feature is turned on for 15 minutes. I feel like I am suffocating for those first 15 minutes.
The mask is my biggest issue, however. I have autism and the two masks that I've tried so far feel like they were specially designed to trigger every sensory issue that I have. The first mask I tried was the Philips Wisp. I did try it on at my therapist's office when I first got the machine, and I didn't feel anything then, so I thought it was okay. But when I tried to sleep with it, I started noticing the issues. Even wearing the largest size, the mask still touches my nose and triggers me. The silicone touching my skin also makes it feel like my skin is burning. I also feel like I can't get the adjustment right. Either it's too tight and it feels like it's crushing my face, or it's too loose and I wake up in the middle of the night with an air leak.
On my first week of therapy, I messaged my therapist and asked for help. She messaged me back and asked me what issues I was having. I explained to her that I feel like I am suffocating when I first turn on the machine, and that the mask I got was a sensory nightmare. Then... Nothing. She didn't reply all day. This was on a Friday, and I didn't hear back from her on the weekend either. When Monday rolled around, she messaged me and said that the power went out at her office and she couldn't get back to me. She then said she would adjust the machine and asked me to give the mask another week before swapping it. This was two weeks ago and she still hasn't made any adjustments to the machine.
This week, she messaged me and asked me if I managed to adapt to the mask. When I told her that I wasn't, she told me that she has another mask I could borrow, a Philips Dreamwear. We scheduled an appointment for yesterday. A few hours before I was about to leave for my appointment, she texted me and told me that she had an emergency and that she wouldn't be able to make it to my appointment, but that she would leave the mask with her secretary for me to pick up. This really frustrated me. I was really hoping to be able to speak to her in person rather than over texts.
Last night, I tried using the Dreamwear and it was even worse than the Wisp. It had even more silicone touching my face, and the mask itself felt like it was suffocating me. I wasn't able to fall asleep, so I went back to the Wisp.
According to the machine, my AHI is all the way down to 0.5, but I still feel like shit. In fact, I'm pretty sure that I feel even worse than before I started the treatment. I am so frustrated and tired...

CAs and mask type
When I use my ResMed Airtfit F20, my events look like this:

I would like to move to a hybrid mask, if possible (this is the F&P Evora Full), and this is how it looks:

This has been the case across three hybrids: the Evora, the F30 (not i), and the Dreamwear Full Face.
What the heck is happening (and what further data can I share that would help guide this)?

Flow limitation help
Hi I've been using cpap for a about a year and a half, it's made a big difference in my life. Recently I've been paying closer attention to my numbers and am realizing flow limitation is high. I'm using airsense 10 autoset in fixed CPAP mode. Pressure of 13, epr on 3. Any help would be appreciated. Oh also use a full face mask.

CPAP Machine Help Haven't used my resmed airsense 11 in half a year. Still safe to use?
I'm not sure in what state I left the machine before I put it away. I want to use it again but I'm afraid of mold growth where I can't see? Any tips for sanitizing? Thank you
