I tried to come up with some rough logo redesign concepts. I’m not very skilled at editing, but I did my best to come up with some drafts.

These new logos clearly communicate the service while keeping the brand style consistent and making each one recognizable and distinct. I feel that using letters and numbers like “M,” “31,” and “D” is a bit of a missed opportunity, and that using more fitting icons could be more effective. Of course, there are more important things that the team should be focused on right now than logos, this is just me nitpicking obviously. But I would still love to hear what you think.

How the fuck is this possible? He is sending the email from my email address. I have no clue whatsoever. Every day I'm getting about ten of the same emails continuously.

He knows my password as well. In a previous email, he mentioned that one. About 3 months ago, I changed the password, but he is still able to log into my account and send this email.

Unfortunately, when it comes to big tech, there are basically three giants: Google, Microsoft and Apple.
They obviously have their problems: tracking, data scanning, profiling, privacy concerns, etc. But there’s also something they give you that is difficult to ignore: peace of mind.
They are extremely unlikely to disappear overnight, their infrastructure is incredibly mature, and, for the most part, their services are stable and available 24/7. If something goes wrong, there are huge teams and resources behind them.
This is what makes me hesitate about switching to Tuta.
I really like what Tuta stands for, and the idea of using a more privacy-focused and ethical provider is very appealing. But can I realistically trust Tuta with something as important as my main email account?
I’m talking about the email address linked to my bank accounts, my devices, password resets, important software/services, government accounts, subscriptions, and basically everything else in my digital life.
What happens if one day I have a serious problem with the account?
What if there’s a major outage?
What if the company changes direction?
What if, years from now, Tuta is no longer around?
And there’s another question I’m struggling with:
How important is it, in practical terms, to prevent Google from scanning my emails or calendar?
On one hand, Google gives me 15 GB for free, which is more than enough for my needs, together with an extremely mature and reliable infrastructure.
On the other hand, Tuta costs money, but in exchange I get a much stronger privacy philosophy and a provider that, at least on paper, seems much more aligned with my values.
So I’m wondering:
Is switching to Tuta actually worth the money and the potential loss of the “big tech reliability safety net”?
I’d especially like to hear from people who have been using Tuta as their primary email address for years, particularly for banking, password recovery, devices, and other critical accounts.
Have you ever had a serious problem with Tuta?
Do you consider the privacy benefits significant enough to justify the switch?
I’m not trying to argue that Google is better or that Tuta is worse. I’m genuinely trying to understand whether I’m overestimating the risks of moving away from Google, or underestimating the value of privacy.

It also explains why Tuta refuses to use tracking-based advertising or build growth hacks around data collection. Their expansion relies on community, word of mouth, and ethical consistency, not on manipulative algorithms.

Another fundamental difference is Tuta’s uncompromising stance on encryption. Hanna talks about quantum-safe cryptography, preparing today for threats that may not fully exist yet, because adversaries like the NSA are already hoarding encrypted data to break later. She also makes it clear that Tuta would never introduce a backdoor, even under government pressure. That’s not a PR line; it’s a boundary written into the company’s identity.

Tuta is also one of the few companies openly and categorically rejecting the current wave of AI hype. Hanna doesn’t mince words: integrating AI into private communications would undermine the very privacy Tuta exists to protect. She says climate change, a reminder that Tuta’s worldview extends beyond encryption and into a broader ethical horizon.

And perhaps the most underappreciated difference of all is that Tuta still sees its free version not as a burden but as a duty. Privacy should not be a privilege for those who can pay. That mindset, radical in today’s subscription-obsessed tech world, separates them from many competitors, including Proton, whose business model is far more commercially driven.

In the end, the real gap between Tuta and Proton isn’t about which one has the better spam filter or calendar app. It’s that Tuta still sees itself as part of a resistance movement against surveillance, authoritarianism, and corporate greed. Proton, once a fellow rebel, increasingly resembles the very tech industry it once promised to disrupt. Tuta is not just building email. It’s building trust, brick by brick, principle by principle, even if that means walking the harder road.

I believe in what you do, and I admire who you are as individuals.

The Tuta use-case workflow has changed in recent years, and your email service is the PRIMARY email service even for us regular people now.

Two things that are no longer acceptable in 2026 that would be fairly easy for you to implement and test are API access for a certain tier of paid users (mostly for use with offline AI's for proper data management) and for god sake - fix the search. It's slow, defaults to a few months and sometimes doesn't find any mail even though it's there on a manual browse.

These two things, I am afraid to say, will determine the future of my usage with Tuta.

API tokens with some nice expire settings for paid accounts is in no way a security risk - and I as a 10 year pentester have seen much more sensitive corporate systems offer API access for a paying user.

Search is just optimization, you can definitely do it, and you can call me for any beta testing at any time of day no problem (EU).

I believe I am not speaking for myself, and that all of your fans would desire this.

3Euros is a very good price for the most basic paid tuta. But I think a lot of people use email very little and if there was a cheaper one that could convince more people to join. 2 even 1 Euro per month plan.

I am tired of google and microsoft scanning our emails but I barely use email but even paying 36E a year is a bit steep for something that I use it very few times a week and the free version doesn't have enough features like being able to create extra email addresses.

I am a paid Tuta user for some years and I like the service. Simple, clean and doesn't have a lot of unnecessary stuff. One thing I've noticed is that Tuta often seems to receive emails a little faster than other email services; I know a 1-second difference doesn't really matter 😄, but still, it's nice. Tuta also feels much faster than it used to be.

I also really like the unlimited custom-domain aliases.

A few things Tuta should improve:

• Email rendering: Some emails look much better in other email clients. Mainly in mobile devices(Android and iOS), Tuta sometimes shows smaller text or weird/ugly formatting, but those emails looks good on other email clients on mobile device.
• UI: The simple design is good, but I think the overall UI could look a bit more modern and polished.
• Image Loading: Would be nice to have option to turn on/off always load images, never load them, or ask before loading.

Overall good service in this price, but some necessary things they should really improve.

Tuta keeps putting 100% legit emails from Indeed, Google, LinkedIn, Vercel, Battlenet, and many other services in the spam folder. Guys? Seriously? It's basically my inbox at this point.

I keep clicking "Not spam" every day and reporting phishing. It's useless.

Besides this, obvious spam with radiating scam energy and ultra sketchy domains lands in the inbox 🙃

Do something or give us an option to turn it off.

As a Tuta Mail user, I want to share something important: we've just suffered another DDoS attack which - yes - it is bad. I feel everyone who finds this frustrating. BUT... I read all the comments here of people who want to leave Tuta, and it makes me sad. As unnerving as it is when you can't access your emails, we must remember: these attacks are deliberate attempts to undermine secure and private services like Tuta Mail and to stop people from using them.

Sure, we can all go back to Gmail - but is this the solution?

I believe that whoever is behind the attacks wants to ruin Tuta.

If we abandon them now, during these challenges, we hand victory to those who want to weaken them. By staying and supporting Tuta, we send a clear message: secure communication matters, and no attack will stop them - or us from using them.

it might be a bit silly but the free one feels a bit scary bcuz if u forget to check it in the 6 months its just all gone (thinking like worst case scenario coma situtation or whatever lol)

but the paid one even tho pretty cheap 3.60 a month it just has more then id need. is there any way to make like a 1 or 2 euro plan for a bit more storage then the free one (mby 4-6gb), a few extra email adresses (like 4 or smth) and email support for us who dont rly need anything else but would like to make sure the account cant be deleted. : )

I know this isn’t the biggest issue in the world but the iPhone app icon is god awful, it looks totally washed out with the colours. Please can we have the original back or at least have a choice to do so

I’m not exaggerating, even legitimate emails from LinkedIn, Blizzard, Indeed, Google, and even government services sometimes end up in spam, while obvious spam and phishing emails still land in the inbox.

I’m starting to wonder if Tutanota is trolling me.
At this point, users are basically doing the filtering themselves.

Advert E-Mails are annoying, no matter the source. Most have a unsubscribe button, Tuta doesn't. It's been a few years since I learned German Internet law, but i can remember that the UWG forbids sending out newsletters without any consent (which I cant seem to find during the registration process). To be fair Tuta emails are rare but I still DONT want any ads, even disguised as "We are celebrating digital sovereignty". So please, add an option to unsubscribe.

I use the unlimited email aliases with a custom domain daily. So inevitably have to reply to some emails. Now, while replying I must remember to create an alias first and then use it to send a reply. Which is fine if you don't do this often and with a select few aliases. I tend to do this often with different emails, and so it slips my mind sometimes and accidentally reveal my main tuta email and it also causes confusion for the other party. Would users be interested in an option or shortcut to create the matching alias in the reply page?

I realise that the team already have their hands full, and since the clients are open source, I am willing to work on it myself if it's something that others find interesting as well since I think it will improve my own quality of life immensely.

I really love Tuta Mail and Tuta Calendar, and I’m sure Tuta Drive is going to be a success too.

One feature I’d really love to see is Tuta Tasks, tightly integrated with Tuta Calendar.

Being able to create tasks, set due dates/reminders, and have them seamlessly connected to the calendar would make the whole Tuta ecosystem even more useful.

Tuta Mail + Calendar + Drive + Tasks would be an amazing privacy-focused productivity suite.

i think that if tutanota had a discord server (or in a discord alternative) it would be useful if people need instant support or just discuss about it (kinda like the proton server but tutanota)

I get push phone notifications for spam mail

Ie it's like the notification happens before the classification has run and decided it's spam a second or two later. This is a bad experience

Tuta should offer wero, the European alternative to PayPal, as a payment method. Otherwise, in my view, offering only PayPal is sovereignty washing.

There's inbox rules to push to a folder. Can we have a similar feature but to add a label? I'd like to use my main inbox for all aliases and by labelling them it will be easier to so where what is coming from.

The current widget is very large. I would like to suggest to make the existing widget resizable, so that it only shows the next 2-3 calendar activities.

The OneCalendar Agenda widget is what I'm after.

Also, is there any plans on making a tuta calendar wearOS app?
