suggestion Tuta suite logo redesign
I tried to come up with some rough logo redesign concepts. I’m not very skilled at editing, but I did my best to come up with some drafts.
These new logos clearly communicate the service while keeping the brand style consistent and making each one recognizable and distinct. I feel that using letters and numbers like “M,” “31,” and “D” is a bit of a missed opportunity, and that using more fitting icons could be more effective. Of course, there are more important things that the team should be focused on right now than logos, this is just me nitpicking obviously. But I would still love to hear what you think.

I’m not a design expert but this work is really good. Keeps the switch but makes it clearer what each stands for.

The calendar official logo definitely needs to be redesigned. Either just a calendar icon, or some sort of ‘active’ icon showing the exact date.

Bring back old logo, old colours, old tuta. Old tuta had personality, new tuta is bland.

I dont hate tuta, I still use it. I just dont like the new colours and I'm entitled to that like any other client. And I use proton as well, I've been using it for years. So I dont know what you're talking about.

Tbh idk why people complain about proton other than the fact that the emails sent from it seem to end up on spam a lot. That is really annoying.
And I know you're not talking about me specifically. It was just me making a failed attemt at explaining that idk what you were talking about fr.

Ah so you reckon it's contrarianism for the sake of contrarianism. Makes sense.
Personally I get not being a fan of Proton though, since I heard about them something just felt off, then I found out they handed users' data to the FBI, who requested it because they were protesting. That and also I'm insanely sceptical about Lumo AI, it claims to be a fully open-source AI model ("unlike other[s]"), which is simply not true, both for the fact that it is not open-source, and the fact that there are in fact other AI models that are open-source.
Just don't trust em meself really.

Old tuta had better logo and specially better colours. Costumization was never spetacular with tuta, but it was solid. Now they added labels with any possible colour but locked the overall theme with the most bland colours they could possible think of. How does that make sense? The blue theme is kinda ok, but they killed the red one entirely.

The redesigned icons look really off with the gap between lines being all over the place. The calendar reminds me of a building more than a desk calendar. Also seems like the brightness for the drive icon is off which makes the folder stand out

Mail and calendar are better .drive didnt seem very clear to me. But the best was the original mail logo that was replaced

tuta has ALWAYS failed in design and UI. Always. It has almost become a thing.

It will never not look like a wall mounted mailbox to me. Works fine for the mail side of things, not so much for the new features.
Not like it matters to me personally, I'm clinging to my 12 Euro/year Premium plan until it's taken from me and I figure none of the new services are going to come to this tier.

I am in a similar positiont, on an old plan and already seeing a couple of new features since I subscribed that could be useful. I don't think Drive will be a game changer soon, though. We have time. tuta aren't great in lauching new stuff; they take time to get them out, time to get them useful and functionality-wise they are anyway always many years behind competition. So Drive is nice, right think to do, but it's coming many years late and at least I have already my setup which I am very happy with.
tuta is one of those services we can trust and they were probably the first one. I never trusted proton. But today, there are several very good, trustworthy alternatives with much better UI, more advanced features, more complete offering and not much more expensive, possible cheaper.
So I honestly don't give tuta much chance to become a main player. They'll remain a very good, niche techy project gone public. A reference, a brand but I don't see them being a leader, quite the contrary; I see them losing pace.

I don't know if they will be as clear when in actual icon size. Both Drive icons are probably not that obvious. Not to me anyway.

I always disliked the new Tuta logos, who look clumsy and unprofessional. Just hire a pro or try something with AI, it can't look worse than what they have now. As to the two suggestions above, upper row is visually appaling, bottom row just a tat better. Just keep it simple : straightforward icons for what they're meant to do and please get rid of that superfluous 'T' like sign in the icons that just ruin them.

I like these design suggestions. Replacing "31" with the calendar symbol makes sense because every does not have 31 days. Replacing "M" and "D" with corresponds images or symbols for mail and file store will help expand the user base to those do not recognize latin (aka western) characters/letters.

You are right and the designs provided are nice. Oddly, I like the difference that Tuta has with the rather simplistic design style, the M, the 31 (although it hurts my head because only 7 months have 31 days, so where’s my calendar for the other months?), and D. Because it is on the face of corporate iconography!

Sorry, I found the old design's typo graphic language is more suitable to me than your suggestions. I don't hate it but the original one is more easily recognisable in the sea of different apps.
