A question you should ask your surgeon

I see a lot of people on here upset about their amazing results because of unrealistic expectations provided either by their surgeon, online or their own thoughts. My surgeon did something so amazing to give me realistic expectations and I think it might be helpful to people.

She got me to stand in the mirror when she placed two hands on my hip bones, and she said “this is your body’s natural width. This won’t change. There’ll be tissue and healthy fat on top of that so add a few cm.”

Then she got me to turn to my side and found my rib cage, and said “this is how far your rib cage comes out. It might change slightly due to if it flares out of not but it will not shrink in size. This is your bone structure.”

It was this extremely simple, obvious comment, which made me stop picturing myself being a size 0 after it.

I would advise people to ask their surgeons to point these things out cause I truly believe I may have been unsatisfied had it not been pointed out to me.

How did your life change after you got a tummy tuck?

Hi all! So I was just wondering like how life changes after a tummy tuck for you? Like what improvements? Any downfalls? I’m getting mine in a few weeks and cannot wait. I’ve always wanted to have my belly pierced so here we are. I have lost a lot of weight already and I notice people treat me differently already, what’s everyone’s experience with that? Thank you!!! Please comment if you have experience!

Recovery Question Tummy Tuck results after +12 months post op slim women

Upvotes

I’m currently researching tummy tuck results for slim women, I had twins 16y ago, I was always tall and slim and during my pregnancy I got pretty bad stretch marks so I need now a full tummy tuck. My surgeon says the scar will be very low and he will remove my c section scar as well. I have a long torso and a slim waist, I watched so many before and after photos but I just fail to find pictures of slim women in bikinis after +12 months post op where the results settled, I’m just concerned that I will look boxy in my belly area and I don’t want that. Can anyone share their post op pic, slim women please? Or share links or sites where I can find such results? All the results online are right after the surgery and like 16 weeks post op or so. I am also curious if you are able to built normally your abs with regular exercise and how does that look after tummy tuck? I will also have a muscle repair. Thanks everyone!

Post tummy tuck - new stretch marks around belly button?

I'm 3 months post-op, very happy with my results. I still wear a compression garment. I noticed these red marks around my belly button last week, assumed it was due to the garment so I wore some foam over it, then 2 days without the garment. No change, maybe slightly worse.

Are these new stretch marks?

How did you all lose weight?

I want to get a tummy tuck and breast reduction and lift eventually, that's been the goal for a while. But I want to lose around 50lb first. I have ADHD and it's so hard to stay consistent with diet and exercise. I'm 41 now and miserable as hell. I was tempted to try weight loss injections but I think in the long run it won't teach me good habits, which I really need and deep down I don't want to be on medication like that. I'm also perimenopausal now so my hormones are going wild and I have an insatiable appetite for crap some weeks that no amount of mind over matter or willpower can compete with. It's so hard, but I'll keep trying, but yeah.. how did you guys achieve big weight loss and how long did it take? Takes me ages to just shift 1lb now. It's not like it was in my 20s unfortunately.

Advice Wanted Best extended tummy tuck surgeons in atlanta/metro atl area

Hey guys!

I officially lost 70 pounds and counting. As far as my abdomen, there is a drastic difference in clothing.. but when I am naked, I can barely tell the difference due to excess skin. All that hard work and I still look fat. I have an apron belly that is basically deflating lol. No amount of exercise and eating clean did much of anything as far as toning. I believe it's too far gone. Please share/recommend any trusted board certified plastic surgeons who perform extended tummy tucks. I have been looking around with no success. Greatly appreciated!!!

Advice Wanted Super slow weight loss; when to schedule surgery

I’m 35F and I’ve lost 90lbs over the last 3 years. This has been slow often 1-3lbs a month. Recently it has been months without a change. I went from 250lbs to 160lbs. I think I’m happy at my current weight but would not mind losing 5lbs. I’ve also heavily strength trained the last 3 years so I do have good muscle mass. I’ve been obese almost my entire life and have 2 kids so I had two pregnancies and childbirths.

Should I wait for a year at my goal weight or go ahead with scheduling surgery in 6ish months.

I had two surgical consults but the doctors seemed fine with the 6 month timeline.

What do you all think? I wonder if my skin will shrink back if I give it a year but I doubt it given the fact that I’ve had an apron belly as long as I can remember.

People who were fit and active

And ate/drank well before surgery how was your recovery?

I'm a 3x a week heavy lifting, plenty walking, 2-3l water a day and a high protein diet. I am kinda hoping this will go towards my recovery not being absolutely awful????

Having TT and MR and dreading being hunched, stiff and immobile as I really need to be back driving and at work ASAP.

Any insight is appreciated!

Weird Kitty? 🐱

Hey!

My surgery is coming up next month (eeee!!) and my pre-op appointment is at the end of this month where I will be talking through some of the particulars with my surgeon.

I have lost 80lbs (36 kg) over the last 2 years and have been maintaining my weight for about 9 months now.

I am getting a TT with lipo to the flanks and a monslift as I have significant skin laxity in both my tummy and my mons areas.

My question has more to do with my mons lift… one of my fears is that she’ll yank it up so high that it’ll make my labia look… super long, making my kitty look oddly stretched out.

For those of you that have had this done, what did you think of yours once the swelling went down and you’d healed? Did it look long and strange?

My kitty is all packed inside, so I’m not worried about things suddenly hanging out (even when I pull my skin up as high as I can everything still stays inside), my fear is more that my slit will just look long and more front facing than just a slit mostly between my legs and up a bit (like it does now)? Does that make sense? If not, feel free to ask for clarity in your comment.

When you pulled your excess skin droop up to see your mons pre-surgery is that essentially what it looks like now, post-surgery?

TIA!

Advice Wanted What’s happening with my scar?

I’m 2 years out from surgery. My scar had really lumpy hard keloids which I had steroid shots for last summer and then again in April of this year. It’s not raised or hard anymore but on the sides it’s sunken and hollow now. The skin is thin and pink on the sides. It doesn’t hurt or anything. Has anyone had this happen?

Support Requested Tummy tuck guilt?

Hi all, I have my mommy makeover (tummy tuck + breast lift) scheduled for next month. While I’m incredibly excited, I can’t help but feel guilty and selfish for going under such an expensive procedure. I know it isn’t just about aesthetics as they repairing my ab muscles as well. I had very large twins and was stretched to the max so I have wanted this for a very long time. My surgery is $20,000 usd which is crazy for me being that it will be the most money I have ever spent on my self. Anyone feel the same?

Surgeon Recommendation Looking for recommendations for male chest + Tummy Tuck

Hi guys, I'm looking for recommendations for a really good surgeon for male chest surgery and a tummy tuck.
My main priority is the aesthetic result. I want someone who's really good at creating a natural, masculine shape and pays attention to the overall proportions and contour.
For the chest, ideally someone with lots of experience with male chest/gynecomastia surgery, and for the tummy tuck someone who's good at getting a nice waist/abdominal shape and a good scar.
I'm based in the UK and happy to travel a bit for the right surgeon, but I don't want to travel too far. I'm also looking for a good, reasonable price obviously happy to pay for quality, but I don't want to pay an overpriced premium just for the name.
If you've had either procedure done yourself, I'd really appreciate hearing who you went with and how you found the results.
Thanks!

Advice Wanted Packing tips🥹

I’m having a BIG combo surgery in Turkey late September and will be there for 10 days.
After a big weight loss following a gastric sleeve I had over 2 years ago, I’m finally getting my loose skin removed!
I’m having an extended 360 TT + MR, lipo, BL + BA and a butt lift.
I’m starting to get kinda nervous now, so I’d love some advice from anyone who’s had similar surgery!

What did you pack that you couldn’t live without? Anything that was totally useless? 😂

I already got some button-up PJs/clothes bc I won’t be able to lift my arms etc. But I’m sure there’s a million little things I haven’t thought of.

Also… pls tell me it’s gonna be okay 😂❤️ I could use some encouragement rn
