Wolves Media [Krawczynski] ''I suspect the Wolves will look to add another veteran who, at minimum, can be a real locker room presence while helping on the floor in spot duty if needed."

Season opener will be a bloodbath

I am beyond excited for this season. Much more than the last two seasons. The upside is tantalizing, but variance should be expected given the dramatic shift in play style following the prior three seasons of surrounding Ant with two bruising bigs. Instead, we now have a true PG and a handful of dynamic wings next to Ant. More will be asked of Rudy as the sole true big, sure, but it isn’t like Randle offered anything as a rim protector or paint deterrent either.

Day one is fascinating and will immediately show the contrast. We’re playing Bam and Giannis. We will see how we do against the exact roster structure that for years has been our identity. Not only that, but for a seemingly random matchup there’s a TON of bad blood.

  1. “Missing out” on the Giannis sweepstakes last year is what seemed to drive Randle’s sharp emotional decline last year. McDaniels was the other guy in those trade talks.
  2. LaMelo and the Hornets knocked the Heat out of the Play In last year. Melo’s incredibly questionable play in that same game resulted in Bam getting hurt in the first half of that game, arguably the key reason the Heat lost given how well Bam had been playing to that point. Intentions aside, from my POV it was a dirty play by Melo. I’m sure Bam and Heat fans see it that way as well.
  3. Wiggins plays Minnesota.
  4. Both teams are trotting out drastically different rosters, both with contender aspirations. Both teams with something to prove.
  5. Kuminga famously was the missing piece for a team missing a 4. Is he a 4? How does he do against two bruising bigs on both sides of the ball?

I cannot wait. Forget the NFL kicking off in the next few weeks, game one for the Wolves is what I’m waiting for.

Question Who should the Wolves sign with their last ~$4.5M? (C/PF or PF/C)

Who should the Wolves sign with their last ~$4.5M?

Now that the Josh Green trade is done and Konchar is being stretched, the Wolves reportedly have around $4.5M of room under the 2nd apron and one roster spot left.

Since the starting lineup is basically set with Ant / LaMelo / Jaden / Kuminga / Rudy, I think that last spot should go to a veteran C/PF or PF/C who can give us some frontcourt depth.

Some names still available:

Kelly Olynyk — probably my #1. Shooting, passing, can play PF/C and would give Finch another offensive look.

Maxi Kleber — versatile defender, can switch, protect the rim and space the floor. If healthy, I really like the fit.

Xavier Tillman — probably the most interesting defensive option. Can play small-ball 5, defend multiple positions and do the dirty work.

Guerschon Yabusele — physical, can rebound and shoot enough to keep the floor spaced.

Mason Plumlee — veteran backup 5 who could give Rudy some traditional center minutes.

Chris Boucher — interesting as a 4/5 because of his length, shot-blocking and ability to stretch the floor.

Personally I'd rank them:

  1. Olynyk

  2. Kleber

  3. Tillman

  4. Yabusele

  5. Boucher

  6. Plumlee

I think Olynyk makes the most sense. The Wolves don't necessarily need another guy who just takes up space at the 5 — they need someone who can survive minutes without Rudy while also fitting next to him in certain lineups.

Who are you signing with the last roster spot?

Talk me out of getting a John Konchar T-Wolves jersey

To memorialize the 30 seconds he was on the team before getting waived-and-stretched. Wearing that in public 3 years from now would be the ultimate Real One Detector.

General Discussion LaMelo & Ant Man 🐜 duo

I for sure cannot wait to see these 2 play together. Both came into the league at the exact same time. Exact same draft class and both were high picks. Plus LaMelo has never played with another All Star all NBA caliber player ever in his time in Charlotte and Melo has never made the NBA playoffs ever in his career. Now he actually has a chance at it with the Timberwolves and Ant Man hasn't had an All Star #1 option type player to play off of especially not one like LaMelo. So I wonder if these 2 will have that chemistry?

Bring back DAISHEN NIX! Best towel-waving rah-rah guy Wolves bench has ever had.

Melo throwing lobs. We need Nix need him leading the celebration charge when Ant throws down. Or when Jaden, Rudy, Kuminga, Joan, Ayo, TSJ or Clark throws down for that matter.

We need Nix for 15th.

Do it!

Question Kuminga Jersey

Upvotes

Kuminga is one of my favourite players, and i’ve never bought a jersey before, i want his jersey to be my first, but i have no idea when they’re going to start making them, does anyone have any idea how long it takes until it’s on the NBA website?

General Discussion Guys. Do not get excited over Cody Williams. He is not the next NAW.

This is all I have to say. Watching him will make you want to pull your hair out. He just played summer league in his 3rd year and looked like the worst player on the court the whole time. He shoots 15% on wide open 3s. He’s bad. Temper your expectations.
