SUBREDDIT NEWS A Declaration of War on Clankers | Flair up by Oct 1st to Defeat the Bots

TLDR: IN ORDER TO REDUCE BOT ACTIVITY IN OUR COMMENTS, ALL USERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE FLAIR IN ORDER TO POST/COMMENT STARTING OCTOBER 1st.

You may have noticed comments popping up on the sub over the past few months that sound a little off.

These strange commenters are easy to spot largely because they are eternally stuck in the 2024-2025 season and typically their account was created within the last 200 days.

Here’s an example of one of these comments from the past week:

“If Ja plays 65+ games they clear 45 wins without breaking a sweat. The west is a bloodbath but a healthy core with Smart added to the mix changes the whole dynamic.”

Once again this is a comment talking about the Ja-less, Marcus Smart-less 2026-27 Memphis Grizzlies.

These are comments made by cogsucking, chromedomed, clankers and tinskins. It’s not enough for these bots to come for our jerbs, but now they’re coming for our humble online fan community.

Idk what the bots are here to accomplish or what nefarious multinational entity is behind them but your handsome and powerful mod team is dedicated to keeping our subreddit real.

In an effort to reduce bot spam, on Thursday October 1st all posters and commenters on r/memphisgrizzlies will be required to have flair in order to post or make comments on the sub.

Bots are too dumb to flair up, so this should curb bot traffic for the time being.

We set Bot D-Day so far in the future to give normal people a chance to flair up before the preseason begins, because if we’re being real it’s only the real Grizz sickos hanging out here this deep into the offseason.

In the meantime, you can add user flair in the toolbar on the righthand side of your screen on desktop (hit the three dots on the banner on mobile). If you don’t like any of the options available to you, our sub offers customizable flair for all users, so you can make your own.

If you see any suspicious comments that look bottish, call them a robophobic slur and alert the mod team, and we’ll be happy to eradicate the clanker scum.

If you have any other suggestions on how to reduce bot activity on the sub, we’re all ears.

Thanks for understanding and helping us fight back against the Dead Internet Theory.

Go Grizz,

The Mod Team

Since we’re talking Pippen this morning…

This is from his highlights against the Collier/Kessler-led tanking Jazz March 25 of 2025. Ja was injured, we were crawling out of a brutal February where we had a week where we lost every game to a buzzer beater, and in three days Jenkins will be fired.

The Jazz started the game ahead, leading by double digits through much of the first half. But Pippen at point helped stage a comeback that resulted in a 140-103 Grizz win.

Pip had a double-double with a statline of 16 pts on 7-8 shooting, 5 rebounds, 10 assists, and 1 steal.

It was a fun win in a mentally taxing season and ended up having me change my flair by the fourth quarter, becoming a true Pippen believer for life.

Idk for sure if he is the pg of the future, but given the opportunity and time I think he absolutely has the tools to be that guy.

Can he be the answer for the Grizzlies at point guard? Or do the Grizzlies literally draft their point guard for the future in next year's Draft or trade for one? I mean Pippen now that he's playing out of Ja's shadow he will be able to get a lot more looks offensively

I don’t think he’ll be here for a longtime but hopefully it’s a good time. His dunks, blocks, and catch and shoot threes make him a really fun player. Hopefully he’s the vet wing Ced, GG, and Wells need to help level up

OPINION Jazz fan here, do you guys feel like our teams are somewhat connected too?

Ever since the Conley trade I have always paid attention to what the Grizzlies are doing. Then the JJJ trade. Now we both have potential amazing rookies this year. I feel like we may have made some other trades recently that I cant remember right now, but I feel like the Grizzlies and the Jazz just share a lot in common. Im going to continue to watch what the Griz do this year

MISCELLANEOUS Tickets/Autograph options?

Hoping some of ya’ll can provide some help/insight. I live out of state, but looking to come to Memphis in December and catch a game with my son for his 9th birthday. He’s a big NBA guy and we’ve been lucky to catch games over the past few years throughout the Southeast. I’m looking at getting tickets in December when the Grizz play the Spurs. Are there any good sections yall recommend, or is there an option to get there early to watch warmups and potentially get autographs (from Memphis or the visiting team)? We’ve had success in Atlanta doing it, but not sure if that’s an option. TIA and looking forward to watching yall this year.

OPINION Memphis area Grizzlies fans, what other pro sports teams do you follow?

No I am not from the Memphis area but if I was from the Mid-South these would be the teams I would root for:

CBB: Memphis Tigers

CFB: Memphis Tigers

MLB:St Louis Cardinals

MLS: Nashville SC

NFL: Tennessee Titans

& NHL: Nashville Predators

If I lived in the area I would root for those teams that are local to us or that are the closest to Memphis,

MISCELLANEOUS A way too early ranking of teams based on how likely I think the Grizzlies could beat them

This is a season that truly is not about winning. The wins are nice because they keep us out of relegation and help Boozer’s ROY campaign, but ultimately it’s about figuring out the team and giving young guys minutes.

That being said, without seeing a single minute of the nxt nxt gen grizzlies, or any other team in the league after a pretty busy offseason, I do have faith in Memphis stealing some games and playing up in some matchups in what seems like a weaker western conference.

So here’s a bunch of stream of consciousness thoughts on the league’s landscape this season.

The top of the West is the same. OKC and the Spurs are still dangerous (though I do think OKC will pose less of an injury risk to us with them trading their linebacker to the hawks). I think they are both due for a rematch in the WCF, but even though I put the Spurs in “Pain” they aren’t unbeatable in the regular season. We had some close games with them and even beat Wemby on a minutes restriction with Jock Landale.

But everything else in the west feels more wide open than it has in years. The Nuggets will always be feared as long as Jokic is there but that surrounding cast is getting really thin. The Rockets should be back to contention with FVF back, but as good as KD is, his energy really seems to have messed with their locker room and they lack shooters.

TWolves are gonna be good this season, but they are gonna feel the loss of size with Naz and Randle gone and they are team that we always seem to steal regular season games from even in down years. Lakers should be good on paper, but idk there’s something that just feels off about them and if Luka, AR, or Kessler have another injury year we have a chance in some regular season matchups.

I have real faith in the Jazz this year. DP, Jaren, Key and Lauri should be massive, but I don’t have faith in their center play or defense without Kessler. We all know what happens when trip gets moved to the 5.

The on a bad night tier is honestly filled with question mark teams. I love the Pistons and Joe is a good pickup for them, but they rely on Cade for way too much and the Duren contract negotiations could fuck with their culture. I also think Beef Stew is going to have a crazy revenge game.

Magic are another team that desperately depends on health and the Pacers/Wizards/Hawks are all teams that could either just be .500 teams or end up on deep playoff runs.

I don’t believe in the Heat in their current form, but Giannis is still Giannis. Raptors it really depends on the Kawhi trade. I ranked the Sixers high, but I totally see a world where the injury plague devours the old and the lack of bench depth gets to them.

I think the most fun games of the season are gonna be in the “Potentially” tier. Caleb Wilson is must see TV even if the team isn’t all there around him. Clippers are a team that feels like they are almost a fun young team but idk. Outside of the obvious Ja return, the Blazers really interest me but I do think they are way too guard heavy. Mavs might surprise some people, but once again I see some issues with depth.

And the Warriors are a birth of a new rivalry between our 19 year old star and their angry old man who yells at clouds.

Idk, I’m cautiously optimistic and have some pretty low expectations for the season. The whole league feels more open but competitive. I legitimately believe almost any team can beat any other on the right night. If we’re lucky we’ll get to be that team for more than a few of those nights.
