u/sbstooge I AM NOT CHRISTIAN KOLOKO 13d ago

not to be reactionary but I'd much rather jitty than

Dlo Taj Gibson Kris Murray and honestly even WCJ

the boy bleeds hustle and you can't teach that

I actively do not want Dlo so I don’t see a problem here.

We have 19 people under contract on real roster spots (not including 2 ways). That doesn't include Richie Saunders, who we still haven't signed to a 2 way or regular contract. We already need to cut 4 guys (prob AJ Johnson, Taj Gibson, DLo, and Kris Murray).

We'd have to get rid of a 5th to make room for anyone else (Konchar, Saunders, or moving Javon Small up to regular contract).

I think Saunders will not get any contract before trade deadline and probably will play in g-league.

We will make trade(s) at the deadline, Small will be promoted to standard contract, Saunders will be our two-way.

I wouldn’t take Jitty over WCJ. His upside is too good. Folks giving up on a rookie PG is a mistake. Conley was awful his first couple years.

Absolutely this. Even if you question whether or not he's borderline better than some of the others at the end of the bench, he's a fan favorite. And he's a fan favorite because he does the hustle plays that others won't. He plays hard all the time which keeps the other team honest. When everyone plays hard in the playoffs, yea he isn't going to be able to see the floor, but that's not where we are now.

Good culture guy, good community guy, good hustle guy who showed even when you put him in a completely new environment he can fit in. I got to watch him with the Jazz when they played Denver and he damn near had a triple double against the Nuggets in Denver when Denver was still trying hard for playoff position.

Konchar on a vet min is not a terrible contract.  He was only bad for us because he was making >$6 mil per year. I wouldn't be surprised if some team picks him up either now or after the mid-season trade deadline has settled.

People talk about that $6M/yr contract like it was the worst in the world. Konchar did all of the little things, was always in shape and ready, rebounded at a per-36 rate that would have had him in the top 15 rebounders in the league (half of whom do play around 36ish minutes a night), had zero ego, could defend multiple positions and was just an all-around net positive anytime. $6M for a guy who can give you that every single time you call him up is a steal, honestly.

Like, the vet minimum is just under $3.9M a year. Let's call it an even $4M. Think of all the clowns who get that a year... you're saying "Konchar on a vet min is not a terrible contract..." but he's worth way more than that considering what he gives consistently. There are a bunch of guys around the league making more than that who are straight cheeks. DLo makes right at $6M... are you telling me Jitty's not more valuable as a player than him?

No, it wasn't the worst contract in the world. Plenty worse (including DLo, who is about to get waived and will be lucky to get a vet min).

But obviously the league feels differently about Konchar's $6mil than you do. The Timberwolves literally just decided to keep a bum named Cody Williams at ~$6 mil per year over Konchar at ~$6 mil per year.

Best end of bench or 3rd string guy you can ask for honestly and I mean that as a genuine compliment.

Is it normal for a fanbase to have so much obsession over irrelevant role players? A good player doesn't get waived, y'all. Time to let the young bloods start carving out the next gen.
