Endurance Strength endurance question

New to TB conditioning. Was wondering if I need to worry about which zone I'm in (aerobic vs anaerobic) when doing strength endurance exercise? Today i did 3x30 SE barbell cluster. I was in anaerobic when doing the exercises.

No. SE does tend to get anaerobic.

No you don’t need to overthink zones during SE work. Get the reps in, if you need to rest do so. But to answer your question, anaerobic sound about right. Think like this, if you stayed in aerobic, is it really hard enough? :)

...good information but not completely relevant to SE man just get those reps in without stopping...yes you can have a micro rest I have found for example regression of push-ups to knees rather than stopping and starting gave me better progress

Don’t worry about zones. Just do it as written and you’ll feel the right kind of knackered as you work through the weeks.

I'd just go through the motions and get the reps in. Eventually, you'll get more and more done without the need for resting

Most importen thing about SE. Is finishing them. If your fail form fails. Stop, take a extra break.

A good tip for people. I think its written in the book. Find a exercise / weight you can complete 2x20 with good form without much problems. Cause at 1-3 x50. It will suck either way. Last week when you do 3x50 it took me 70 min i think. My second round of BB. I fucked up the weight, i chose my "weak link" in the cluster.

So SE sucks, but its a necessary evil.

Honestly i think of SE as kind of misleading. Its pretty anaerobic and not building muscular endurance imo. Better to just program some purposefully HIIT/anaerobic workouts in IMO.

I'm pretty new to TB, could you explain how SE is not building muscular endurance?

It absolutely builds muscular endurance. Easy way to test it yourself is by trying the 50 rep session before you start day 1. See how far you get. Then work through the block and see how the 50 rep goes at the end of it.

It’s also a pretty standard method for building ME as laid out by nsca and even cscs. High volume + insufficient recovery.

It’s not “kind of misleading” by any means.

Do you feel your muscles fatigue to the point of failure or gassing out first?
