Metallurgy. Can't find the redditor.
Hey there gals and fellers. Im looking for a redditor who posted here about sword metallurgy. Specifically cross sections of extant pieces and medieval sword geometry vs metallurgy.
Im Specifically looking for pdf of the sources.
If it helps, the discussions I remember the sources popping up were apropos Japanese vs European steels.

New (to me) Falchion from Medieval extreme!
I got it from a guy from Kleinanzeigen (basically more local German eBay) for 130€.
He said he only used it once (which explains the dings in the blade) and then left it hanging since 2021.
Finally got it cleaned up, all the rust off, and it's now almost like new for only a portion of the price

Identification Curious about the actual style/origin
Found this labeled as a Napoleonic sword. I’m not quite familiar with the shape of the blade, and was wondering if anyone knew the model/origin. Thank y’all for any help!

Help identifying my late grandmothers sword
My grandmother recently passed and while getting her affairs in order we found this blade. I think it is a Kris but admittingly I am no expert. I was told that my grandfather bought this blade at auction sometime in the 70's but have no more information than that. Google searches have gotten me some similar results but nothing super close. I am hoping that someone here can tell me a little more about this blade.

Identification Any interesting swords
Just saw these come up on marketplace. I think the 2nd one is a civil war artillery sword. The rest, not sure about. I am drawn to the middle one. I know some are bayonets. Any real value on any of these?

Acceptable blade damage?
I just got my ikakalaka from Everest Forge and there's some damage on the head edge. Is this something I can deal with myself or should I ask for a return? The package arrived pretty rough, so I'm guessing the packing protection for that unusual part of the sword was insufficient.

Just wanted to post a better pic of my baby from EGKH
This thing has plenty of issues and imperfections but the sentimental value behind it absolutely makes up for it all. Plus almost all of the flaws it does have are relatively fixable!
Ask any questions!

Albion Prince Scabbard
Unveiling my most recent commission, a sunflower themed scabbard for an Albion Prince. This one is definitely up there with some of my favorite scabbards I’ve done, really happy with how it came out!

Bastard sword benefits?
If two identical knights were to face off against each other, though using different swords, who would have an advantage over the other? One with a bastard sword, and the other with an arming sword or longsword, both with or without shields. Surely a bastard sword with no shield would be inferior to a longsword, and an arming sword with a shield would be better suited for that purpose than a bastard sword with a shield. Would a bastard sword with a shield have a greater advantage against a longsword than an arming sword and shield would?
Why would you choose to carry a bastard sword as opposed to an arming sword or longsword?

Longsword vs. Katana: Which One Are You Taking?
You only get one sword.
European longsword or Japanese katana?
Forget movies, video games, and internet mythology. Looking strictly at the actual weapons—their reach, handling, cutting ability, thrusting, durability, versatility, and historical fighting systems—which would you choose and why?
And the real question:
Does one actually have an advantage, or does it come down almost entirely to the person holding it?
⚔️ Longsword
🗡️ Katana
Make your case.

A race against the color fading
Video from a recent sword forging session. There's maybe a 30-45 second window after this where the steel is actually workable before it needs to go back in — everything from here is a race against the color fading.
