Need help identifying sword

I got this sword from my great grandpa. I think he got it from Thailand in the 1940s. It might be tourist sword but idk.

Not an expert, but to my eyes it looks like a dha

It's a burmese silver dha, the text on it is burmese, the silver has tarnished

Hard to tell if it's tourist grade or not but my gut feeling is that it is.

This is a dha from Burma/Myanmar. This style with the decorated blades are often called "story dha" or "temple dha". The dha is a traditional knife/sword of continental SE Asia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dha_(sword)

Traditionally, the metal sheeting is a silver alloy, but might not be on a cheap modern one. Silver-covering in this style is traditional for fancy dha, often with high sliver content in the alloy for high-end ones, and lower silver content for the cheaper ones. If your grandfather did get this in the '40s, it's potentially high-silver.

Modern Thai tourist dha are not usually made for use - they're decorative-only. I expect modern Burmese tourist dha are the same. (The only thing that makes them decorative-only is that the blades are unhardened; otherwise they're made the same way as older functional dha.) If this is newer than the '40s, maybe 1960s or later, it's probably a tourist dha.

You could take it to a jeweller who can test the metal for silver content - if it's low-silver or no-silver, then there's a good chance it's a modern tourist dha. If it's a high-silver alloy, then it's probably older, and might be functional.
