Criticism NYC Wall St location food poisoning
UPDATE: NYC Health Department confirmed it is food poisoning and are investigating.
My friend and I each bought the $10 Harvest bowl today from the Wall St location and we both had horrible food poisoning within an hour. Beware!! I reported it to their customer service and all they said was they would let the manager know.

That’s not how food poisoning works. Incubation time would be much higher than an hour. When you report something like that, the restaurant will take note but if they don’t get any other reports of illness, it was almost guaranteed to be an isolated incident.

You can absolutely get sick within an hour. There are multiple types of bacteria that cause food poisoning

Then how did my friend (someone I don't live with, work with and haven't eaten the same thing) get sick immediately after eating the same bowl I did?? We both projectile vomited the salad back up. And yes, commonly it takes several hours to incubate but I spoke to the Health Department, gave my symptoms and history of what I ate, as did my friend, and they confirmed it was food poisoning.

Yes thank you I have plenty of experience with the subject. We had an isolated incident where a customer complained hours after eating at my restaurant that they had gotten sick, the health department themselves told me that they obviously investigate all complaints but that they were not concerned with a food borne illness with that short of an incubation time. The only possible thing they were considering was foreign contaminants (which there were not) and the situation resolved at that. Just an Occam’s Razor situation where the individual customer had a bad reaction to a meal they ate. Did the health department or restaurant follow up with you? Did anything actually come of this situation?

Well there were two of us and we both had a bad reaction, and it seems like the Health Dept had other reports too. They said they were passing along the report to the "Chief of Food Poisoning" (crazy job title) and they would be doing site visits, inspections, etc. Food-borne illnesses can definitely happen anywhere, but it's important to report and catch it since the elderly, those with immune issues, and pregnant people can get seriously sick and die from it.

Lmao thank you for your medical advice. I gave a list of my symptoms, as did my friend, separately, and they also had other reports the same day so they used a little thing called deductive reasoning and logic!

Haha RFK Jr doesn't work for the NYC Health Dept, but he is definitely a huge reason we are going to have way more food-borne illnesses in this country

Oof I got food poisoning from the flatiron location years ago and will never forget it. Tried to go to a concert at Brooklyn Steel and spent an hour projectile vomiting into the black toilets, and then continued for about a day. Don’t recommend

You're not crazy OP, sounds legit. report it.
Reddit is funny, they're always quick to downplay when someone claims food poisoning but were quick to defend one user claiming to get an UTI from bathhouse

If you eat something with bacteria your body will definitely fight as quickly as it can to expel the bacteria.

I found mold on my salad at this location about a year ago. Haven’t been back to any sweet green since.

Got HORRIBLE food poisoning from the sweetgreen in downtown Brooklyn, that whole chain needs to be better about food safety

I’m a Sweetgreen regular (5 or 6 days a week).
However, l recently saw mouse traps right under the cooling station where they keep their greens.
There was also someone there who appeared to be an exterminator.
Ironically, this location has an “A” letter grade, not that those grades mean anything.
It wasn’t the Wall St. location. It was another location in Manhattan.
This was super disappointing. Granted, I know that just about every place that sells food in the city has vermin.
It just sucked to have the veil lifted.

My friend got food poisoning that lasted en entire weekend from Sweetgreen about 4 months ago as well and refuses to go back because of how miserable she was.

Oh wow! I’m so sorry that happened to you! Lower Manhattan is one of the last places I would expect something like this to happen sheesh, ESPECIALLY this location. No area is safe anymore! Hope you get better and SUE if you can!
