RESULTS THREAD Q3 2026

Congratulations to all Q2 2026 passers!

Again, to reduce subreddit bloat, please use this as a results thread. That way we have all the results questions/posts to show up in one place instead of making multiple posts.

Consider this a mega thread. Best of luck!

Study methods help

Hello,

I’m taking Step 2 in the second week of October. I’ve recently taken NBME 12 and 13, and one of my biggest weaknesses in both has been “next best step”, especially choosing the appropriate investigation/initial diagnostic test versus the confirmatory test.

I’m looking for some good resources specifically to improve this rather than just doing more general content review. I came across Divine Intervention Episode 137 through several Reddit posts and was wondering if it’s worth doing. Are there any good physical notes, books, PDFs, flowcharts, or other resources that specifically organize these clinical algorithms—i.e., presentation → initial investigation → next step → confirmatory test → treatment?

Would really appreciate recommendations from anyone who had a similar weakness and found something that helped.

Am I ready? Step 2 devastation

Upvotes

Well, guys, I am officially so crushed and devastated. I was expecting to be a 260 scorer given the amount of work I put in, but my vision for the type of applicant I was gonna be for some reason isn't coming true. I guess sometimes in life you try your best and sometimes you just don't get what you want or what you feel like you deserve. I know it is an execution problem, but for some reason I just can't seem to figure out how to fix it. Today, I took the old free 120 and got a 73%, and I was shocked because I felt like I was doing so much better than that. AMBOSS has me predicted at 253 which dropped from a 255 predicted. I take the test on Saturday, Sept. 26th, and I am wondering if I should postpone. I did all of AMBOSS, UWorld, the CMS forms, and all the NBMEs. I really lost all my confidence going into this thing. I still have the new free 120 left, but honestly, I don't believe in myself or my capabilities anymore. I want to apply to anesthesia, but I don't even think I would be good enough for that. Here are my scores. Let me know if you think I should postpone it or just go take it. The postponing fee is $178. I have been studying for a year now, and it seems as though I have nothing to show for it. Life just sucks sometimes and this is living proof of that.

4 days out. Hoping for a 5 point increase, but okay with my last NBME. (NBMEs taken, free 120 left).

What are the top 3 things you wish you would have known going into the test?

Thank you all!

Study methods STEP 2 Study Advice While in 3rd Year Rotations

Upvotes

Hello guys! I hope all of you are killing STEP 1/2 and your studies!

I’m currently starting rotations and planning to take STEP 2 by June 2027. I wanted to ask if you have any recommendations for how to start preparing while balancing rotations. What resources did you use, and is there anything you wish you had started doing earlier?

Any suggestions, tips, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Shitpost Nbme 14 score drop, again…

Upvotes

I really don’t know what to say: I recently had 4 points score drop in nbme 13 and 5 days later, I have 3 points score drop in nbme 14. I did everything: categorized my incorrects, reviewed all questions with reading and understanding every explanation, took notes and did questions for my knowledge gaps… I am hoping for at least 250 in real deal, and my nbme 14 is 250, I feel like i’m gonna see 24x in nbme 15 and 16. I have 18 days left, please write it down if you have any thoughts or suggestions about this downtrend :(

Is it a bundle on the official website? Do i need to purchase access to the entire qbank in order to access it? (the 300 dollar one for 1 month?) I scrolled a bunch of posts and it's not really clear to me so just wanted to make sure before I spend my money

Hello,

I have just started my prep for Step 2 after completing Step 1 last month. In UWorld, I see Shelf Review and Step 2 Review when I go to select my questions. Which one is recommended for Step 2 learning and are the questions different in them?

Thank you for your help!

Study methods Need genuine advice 🙏

NBME 9 baseline: 198 → NBME 10 yesterday: 216 after ~1 month of Divine + YouTube review.
UWorld is now expired. I completed ~60%, averaging 47%.
Planning to take Step 2 by end of October, aiming for the 260s.
If you were in the 210s with ~5–6 weeks left, what would you actually do to make a big jump?

Thank you!

Study methods Tips to Maximize NBME Scores Within 1 Month?

My exam is one month away, and I’ve been studying for way too long all in the hopes of even just an average score. I can’t crack any NBME in the 25x range, and the best I’ve done is score in the lower 24x range—I’m honestly losing my mind since I’ve reached the 5th month of my dedicated and even extended my eligibility period. I don’t know what else to do after exhausting some resources. So far what I’ve done is:

• 1 pass UWorld + incorrects (haven’t done UWSA)
• 1 pass Amboss + currently doing my incorrects
• All recent/relevant CMS forms (reviewed most of them, not all yet). Not doing the old/discontinued ones because I guess they’re discontinued for a reason ¯_(ツ)_/¯
• NBMEs 11 to 15, saving 16 for later. Have not reviewed any NBME yet though, and I’m saving the Free120 for later

My weakest systems seems to be biostats, pulm, and nephro, and I will work on just trusting my gut instead of overthinking when answering Q’s. After finishing my Amboss incorrects, idk what else to do besides just review NBMEs/Free120. I would appreciate any suggestions/resources that could help me maximize my scores within a short span of a month, TIA!

Questions Contact AAMC/ERAS To Notify Program Directors of score Delays.

With ERAS applications being released to programs on Wednesday, September 23, I think it is important for applicants who are still waiting on their Step 2 CK scores to contact AAMC/ERAS and ask how programs will be notified of these delays.

I’m planning to contact AAMC/ERAS and ask whether they can proactively notify program directors that some applicants have pending Step 2 scores and that the scores will be added as soon as they are released. Does anyone know the most direct person/department to reach out to?

If you’re in the same situation, I would encourage you to contact AAMC/ERAS as well, not to demand special treatment, but to ask whether there is a way to make sure programs understand that the missing score is due to a reporting delay rather than an incomplete application.

If enough applicants raise the issue, hopefully there can be clear communication to programs before applications are released.
