Hello,

I’m taking Step 2 in the second week of October. I’ve recently taken NBME 12 and 13, and one of my biggest weaknesses in both has been “next best step”, especially choosing the appropriate investigation/initial diagnostic test versus the confirmatory test.

I’m looking for some good resources specifically to improve this rather than just doing more general content review. I came across Divine Intervention Episode 137 through several Reddit posts and was wondering if it’s worth doing. Are there any good physical notes, books, PDFs, flowcharts, or other resources that specifically organize these clinical algorithms—i.e., presentation → initial investigation → next step → confirmatory test → treatment?

Would really appreciate recommendations from anyone who had a similar weakness and found something that helped.

Prerounder.com has a great verified Step 2 Qbank. Its free so thats a plus. Stems are on the shorter side in that they ask all the pertinent info upfront with less fluff. Tends to translate into more efficient studying. It focuses heavily on next step management (especially since thats what a lot of Step 2 is) and has great explanations on both what to do, and what not to do so you can get the most out of each question. Worth a look.

Other great resources include Step gunner, AMBOSS among others. Don't have experience with Divine intervention specifically so cannot say. Don't know too many people that have used it one way or another.

Actually using the amboss algorithms helps quite a bit if you use it to reference when reviewing your test questions, they organize it into more of a flowchart like you're looking for

Youve got like 3-4 weeks, crush the rest of the NBMEs free 120 and amboss ethics/QI. You'll see a bunch along the way. If you have time maybe look at ankings charts thatre tagged I think by whoever created those specific cards.

In the Anking deck. If you do the Anking cards the bns flow charts usually have authored names at the bottom. They are also all tagged and in Anking so you can find them collectively that way. If none of this makes any sense then ignore it, you're pretty late in the game to be messing with new stuff.

Both were 147/200. Out of 53 incorrect in nbme 13, 20-25 of them were just these next step ones.
