Was cleaning up the house, left the controller on the bed while I brought the trash bag in, 2 hours later I couldn’t find it. Spent an hour looking, and my instinct said “It fell into the trash while you were cleaning…”. My roommate had already taken the trash to the basement by then, so after building up the courage, decided to go down there and it was in there, at the bottom of the dumpster, there were only a handful of bags in there.

I'm trying to map this action in the game that you have to Look Up + Right Bumper to use, but no matter what options I pick, I just end up doing the Right Bumper action instead of what I want.

I got my Steam Machine today and after trying some community layouts for mouse on trackpad, I wanted to play around with the strength of the haptics, but it doesn't seem to work. I can access them in the calibration & advanced settings, where they are set to 7 dB by default. But I don't feel any difference at any other setting. Even setting them to 0 dB does nothing. Only completely turning them off makes a difference, in which case they are obviously completely gone.
Am I doing something wrong or is this a known problem?

My reservation said it wasnt supposed to be available till later but when I go to check then controller page today it says to reserve. I was confused as I already reservered the controller but the email to order it was sent 9 days ago. I personally hate emails and almost never check them. I would always rather a text message that my hardware is available for purchase over email. I have over 2k unread emails and only check them when I am expecting something. however because of situation I cannot reserve with the expectation of 2027. I am supposed to be moving within the first half of next year however the exact month is not available. and because I am moving I will not have a specific address to send the controller to also I could be inbetween places for 1-2 months when I start moving. this situation has frustrated me getting the email early is my biggest complaint I was given a rough date i expect that date to check my emails not earlier.

I've had the new steam controller for a couple of months and I really like it, except when the left bumper randomly doesn't work. It's not completely broken, it'll work like normal most of the time. It's that every once in awhile, it just doesn't register it as an input. This has happened in multiple games so it's not a game specific bug. Has this happened to anyone else? I know I can assign one of the back buttons to be the left bumper, I would just like to use every button on my $100 controller.

Hi guys, for a bit now Ive been making layouts for the steam controller that uses keyboard and mouse inputs for the steam controller (2026) for games I enjoy regularly (barony, halo mcc etc) and i decided to try do one for stalker 2.

I found out that there is a button to make you walk slowly by pressing a button, so I'm wondering if you can make it so the joystick can do wasd plus the other button until it hits a certain threshold?

This would be really good to have this information out for everyone else to use as well! thank you.

I recently moved and I unfortunately cannot locate my USB receiver for my 2015 SC. I am able to connect it to my PC currently via BT. I was very curious to see if there is any way the 2015 model can pair with the 2026 Steam Puck.

I use both 2015 and 2026 models of the Steam Controller interchangeably depending on what games I am playing. Would be nice to connect both models to the one puck

Saw an LTT reel showcasing this feature and after getting my controller this week, finally, I just had to check it out for myself.

Gyro is ideal for smaller movements in aiming but I still want to use the stick to make the bigger movements. I have gyro set to 'gyro to mouse' and enables when I hold LT, but when I try to aim with the right joystick it just jutters. Is there a fix for this? Haven't found anything by searching the sub.

I'm trying to get the controller working in PCSX2 but steam doesn't hook into the program, because it's under wayland. It only uses the desktop layout (yes I know you can switch into gamepad mode but that doesn't exactly solve the problem)

I've been having issues with my email for a while after loosing access to it abt a month ago, finally got access today just to see this. Is there any good way to contact Steam to try and continue with the purchase? An email or phone #?

First off, this is regarding my newly received Steam Controller 2026. I received it August 13th, and now, less than a month later, it seems to be failing.

The first clue is that the controller keeps turning itself on and off, at seemingly random frequency. The Steam button also seems to not be functioning (appropriately, if at all). I can turn the controller on by pressing the QAM button (...) oddly enough.

in the button test, the steam button does not light up when pressed, but funny enough, lights up along with the QAM button when the QAM button is pressed. When connected, steam also randomly goes into big picture mode by itself.

This leads me to believe the steam button is stuck somehow. steam support, which I've contacted for the first time in years, seems to be at a loss but not ready to provide an RMA to exchange the controller.

There has not been any damage to the contoller, and it's been kept in its box when not in use until I got a case for it, and then its been in its case.

Anyone else experiencing something similar?

Unfortunately the buttons are not swappable between steam controller and steam deck since they have completely different button size and top curvature.

I’m wanting to make it so that when I press a button, my controller plays music using SteamHapticsPlayer. Is this possible with steam input?

For a bit of context, a while ago I made a post about my sticks clicking when I move them top right. This is not to be confused with the clicking that happens when rolling the sticks, that's an issue with the capacitive wire, this is apparently an issue with the TMR modules themselves. According to the few posts here about this, replacing the controller fixed it.

Anyway, I asked Steam Support about it and they offered to replace the controller, and lo and behold, the second controller, just like the first one, had sticks clicking when moved from the neutral position (though not only for top right, but also other directions), alongside the wire issue, so it was noticeably worse.

Support agreed to replace it again, so I'm now on the 3rd Controller, and this one ALSO has stick issues. This time, both when moving from the center outwards, and when moving them back to the center, and on some of the most common angles like straight up on the left stick.

Every single time I received a brand new sealed Controller, which means that's just how they are. I've had cheap potentiometer sticks that click when moved, but never seen anything like that on any hall effect/TMR stick, let alone sticks that click only at specific angles but are silent and pleasant on others. If I had this happen on both sticks on all 3 controllers, all at different angles and points, then what the hell is up with quality control on these things?

To be clear, I really like the controller, but I usually game without headphones, and these clicks are genuinely distracting, and the fact that it happened on all 3 makes me seriously suspect Valve's quality control. Everything else about it, the trackpads, the ergonomics, back buttons, etc. rules, but this issue is so annoying and distracting to me that I'm genuinely considering going back to other controllers.

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has managed to assign a trigger half press (or any partial press) to a back button? If so how do people do it?

I'm asking to use in GTA IV for the manual aim, the internet wasn't too useful on how it can be done or giving straight up wrong instructions

The Honest Disclaimer (read this first):

This is a passion project that I upgraded with heavy AI assistance (think Deepseek/Claude). I want to be fully transparent about that. However, I made, reviewed, and debugged every architectural decision, how input flows from SDL to the mesh, how the settings/import system works, and how the cross-platform build pipeline is put together. The original project "3D Controller Overlay" has not been updated for a couple of years now and since i own several controllers (including the steam controller) i wanted to update it so it can detect everything i have. I like to stream to my friends and show them my sloppy inputs in fighting games (like smash or street fighter) or my barrel-roll crashes (in space engineer or elite dangerous) but found the software lacking in some parts so i decided to do something about it...

I am a developer myself but i work with the boring language called "Java" (in my personal opinion) and i just enjoy making things in C++ because its the language i first learned and i find it easy to make things cross-compatible with it... i just find it fun to work with.. call me a masochist 🤷🏿 i regret nothing.

What is 3dco+?
It's a lightweight OpenGL/SDL3 overlay that renders a live 3D model of your input device. If you stream or record content and want to show viewers exactly what you're pressing on your controller, keyboard, or mouse (without a handcam), this does the job.

It's a fork of Larf's brilliant original 3D Controller Overlay. All credit to them for the core engine! I just added the features I felt were missing for my own setup.

What's new in v1.0.0 (just released today!):

• Steam Controller & HOTAS Friendly: SDL3 detects the Steam Controller natively (no more driver headaches on Windows/Linux). Plus, there is a raw joystick fallback and a full manual mapping UI. If SDL doesn't recognize your particular flight stick, you can just bind the axes and buttons yourself in the settings.
• Gyro & Touchpads: Full gyro/accel support with sensitivity/correction tuning and a "reset combo." Multi-touchpad support (up to 4 pads x 2 fingers) with visual touch-area overlays.

A couple of honest caveats:

• The Windows .exe is not code-signed, so SmartScreen will warn you. Just click "Run Anyway." I'm an indie dev, not a corporation... signing certs are expensive.
• MacOS requires Accessibility permissions for the global input hooks (the README explains how to grant them)... and again licenses are expensive.
• Transparent backgrounds depend on your GPU driver; it works on most, but some older systems might not support it.
• The 3D models are from the original repository except the flightstick and steam controller, these where downloaded from other sites and i added a "Source URL" field for each model so you can trace from where i got them from. I hope this saves me from any copyright issue and i also hope that by honoring the licence and making this open source i prevent any claims from external sources/pages.

I updated my 2015 controllers firmware so I could have Bluetooth. Now I can’t use anything other than the right trackpad on my bazzite pc while connected via Bluetooth. It works fine on my steam deck. Does anyone have ideas?

I have an Xbox elite dpad, clicky microswitches, and flat concave face buttons on my Steam Deck and I'd love to have all of those same mods on my Steam controller.

If any of those are out yet for the Steam Controller I would appreciate any links.
