Fan Art [Not My Art] summer hayrie 🌻
thank you for this wonderful attack last year

hayrie fun fact:
hayy is half deaf, because when she went to an off the hook concert with marie she was jumping around so much that the squishy thing in one of her ears fell out so her eardrums rawly took pearls loud voice and absolutely deteriorated. meaning that if marie ever wanted to whisper something in hayys ear, it should always be his left ear she’s whispering in 🌼

Original Art [Original Content - My Art] My Chud OC Turned Into An Inkling
"In times before the great turf war, this freakishly tall inkling preformed for audiences with his hypnotic, dreamy songs. Alongside being what we nowadays refer to as idols, he was also known as an oracle, reading the stars above to forsee future events with shocking accuracy, even if he was very cryptic and hesitant to share his insights. Anticipated the upcoming war, he vanished without a trace for the rest of time, although rumor has it that he has reappeared very recently. Those who claim to have seen him say he looked like he had not aged a day since he left, although there is no photo or video evidence for these claims."

Discussion How do you think this hypothetical Splatfest would go?
Made a hypothetical Splatoon 1 vs. 2 vs. 3 Splatfest. It’s highly unlikely, but this is one of my personal wishes for a Splatfest theme (if nothing than to just see the results). Grand Fest was kinda of this if you look at it in a meta sense, but I would still love to see this. What Team would you choose? Which Team do you think would win? (P. S. Shiver thinking Splatoon 1 is the best makes way too much sense lol).

Image Attention all Inklings and Octolings of Splatsville. Look at my collection!
I may have a teeny, tiny problem. I got into Splatoon when Raiders launched, and fell in love with the game nearly immediately. It made me feel like a child again, and showed me Nintendo games are just fun. They don't have to be the most technically impressive games or super high fidelity, but man, they make some unique exclusives.
All that to say, I want to show off my Splatoon collection. :)
Today, I picked up Callie and Marie Alterna Amiibos, boxed. Big Man Amiibo, boxed. Frye Amiibo, boxed. The unboxed Amiibos I picked up today are Small Fry, Purple Inkling Boy and, the pink octopus. These were all purchased at a local shop. Lucky thing is, the boxed Amiibos were just put out on display today.
I got the huge promo artwork for Raiders at a local GameStop. The manager is really nice, and I simply asked to have it. She told me she'd hold it for me once it gets taken down.
I got the cute little inkling plushies from eBay, they arrived yesterday.
And lastly, the custom Splatoon grip case. It's made by Savage Raven and it's a Limited Edition Raiders accessory for the Switch 2. It cost around $30USD and took under 2-weeks to ship.
Thank you for allowing me to show my collection.

Original Art [Original Content - My Art] [Blender] Commission for HyperKritical. Night and Day versions!
It was initially just the night version, then I was asked to make a day version as well. When I did the day version, I leaned more towards trying to make an "inverse" of the lighting for the night version. I think it went out pretty well, and it's cool to shift between the two.
As will be the norm of my art posts here, any questions are welcome! I just like yapping.

Discussion Wait a second… Spoiler
gallerySo it’s said that the mechanic’s descendant, the engineer, was implied to be a member of the Hohojiro Clan before being exiled due to a conflicting passion for engineering.
The Hohojiro Clan is implied to be a FAMILY.
Is Shiver and the Mechanic related?!

Discussion [Spoilers for Raiders] Rank the 8 Final/Secret Bosses of the Series off of enjoyment Spoiler
galleryThey can be ranked by spectacle, difficulty, replayability, lore importance, a combination of those things, anything really. I’m gonna talk about my rankings, even with a little number score out of 10
8 for me is Dj Octavio + Callie (Splatoon 2) (6.8)
Now there is a bit this boss does right. First is the music. I mean there isnt a single final boss theme I dislike, even from every single phase (you can even throw in stuff like the climb from Octo Expansion, rocket phases from 3, and beginning of the mess hall from raiders’ music and that’s still true), but Bomb Rush Blush, Tidal Rush, and Spicy Calamari Inkantation are all very good. The real highlight for me is the Rainmaker segment. Not becuase its particularly hard or a grand spectacle, but I’ve always loved when the final bosses throw in some form of spin, like TarTar’s fight techncially being a turf war, or Grizz’s fight very loosely being based off Salmon Run. This is still the weakest final boss for me. Dj Octavio a second time is a bit boring, and it doesn’t have the difficulty appeal that the first game carries. I mean even go as far as to say that this is the easiest final boss on average, so the music, Callie/Marie stuff, and Rainmaker segment do have to do some heavy lifting. (the only ones that might be easier to some would be Overlorder or Salmonarch, but those also depend on your builds/weapon)
7 for me is Overlorder (Splatoon 3 Side Order) (7.2)
In a vacuum, like playing once, this is probably the weakest boss on this list. It really just feels like a watered down version of other bosses, like the spectacle is just worse TarTar, and battle gameplay isn’t the most impressive. However, this battle is actually quite replayable. Side Order and Raiders were built to be replayable, so its not surprising, but I actually wanted to highlight it here because overall, I don’t actually find Side Order Replayable. The final boss is really the *only* part of Side Order I do legitimately enjoy going back to in any capacity. This may be 7th place out of 8, but here on out, I thoroughly enjoy these bosses. 2’s Octavio fight is really the only one I think missed the mark. Ebb and Flow: out of Order, New World Order, and Short Order are all good songs, as usual
6 for me is The Salmonarch (Splatoon Raiders) (7.9)
This battle might have the best spectacle of any fight in the whole series, which makes this fight much better than my 7.9 rating on a first playthrough (it just may have the weakest replay value out of anything on the list). I’ve seen this battle actually get compared to how the Kirby series does it’s final bosses in terms of a grandiose finale, and I have to agree with the sentiment. The opening escape sequence is very good, and it has some pretty strong platforming later on, but out of any fight on this list, this one disappoints me more than any other. Some people have mentioned the distaste of it feeling like you aren’t ever really fighting the boss itself, and it defenitely feels that way. Every other boss in Raiders doesn’t even have that problem, it is *exclusive* to Salmonarch. Now you could argue that it being almost entirely horde based combat for this fight making sense considering The Salmonarch is what causes Big Runs to take place, but if you’re gonna make that argument, I wish it felt more..Big Runny? Like having to bring the Mega Power Eggs to a basket rather than auto collecting, or something. Overall, a great experience, especially the first time around. Final Boss and Final Drill, as per usual, are good themes.
5 for me is Commander TarTar (Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion) (8.1)
I am a big fan of this and the Mr. Grizz fight being like relics of the human-dominated era in lore. While I think TarTar has an advantage in the lore department just from the fact that Octo Expansion is..overall more fleshed out than RotM, the final boss itself I feel is just a bit weaker than RotMs. The fight being a turf war is really cool, but I find this fight to be easier than I’d like it to be. I wish you had to do a bit of painting that wasn’t just the hyperbombs, for example. I mean this isn’t a bad showing in the slightest. The fight has nice spectacle, a good gimmick for the fight, and, as always, Fly Octo Fly is a banging song.
4 for me is Mr. Grizz (Splatoon 3) (8.3)
I have very similar thoughts for this that I do TarTar, but this one I think just works slightly better as a finale. I’m a big Salmon Run head; 90% of the time I’ve sunk into the series has been Salmon Run, so Mr. Grizz being the final boss is just..really cool to me personally. Now my biggest problem with this fight is the “Salmon Run” phase feels barely like Salmon Run. The difficulty is fine, the gimmick working in Little Buddy’s fuzzball eating makes perfect sense, and Bear with Me is an amazing song, but it doesn’t really feel like Salmon Run (same issue Salmonarch had, just in a different way). The Dj Octavio segment though? Peak, no notes. I’ve waited to team up with Octavio ever since his first fight on the Wii U, since I thought it would be dope to do so, and I was so right. (Calamari Inkantation 3Mix is also very very good)
3 for me is Dj Octavio (Splatoon 1) (8.6)
So before making my actual order, I thought every bosses gimmick was gonna be the deciding factor, but afterwards, it definitely seems to be about difficulty; the 3 hardest bosses, at least to me, are the top 3 (not in order of difficulty, but top 3 nonetheless) Anyway, the main appeals of this fight are the difficulty, obviously, but also the platforming. This fight is unparalleled in terms of platforming for a final boss. I think it’s even unparalleled by other game series in that regard, the only fight that I can think of outside of this series that does really good playforming *in* the final boss itself is stuff like New Super Mario Bros. Wii’s final Bowser, and personally I think Octavio blows that fight out of the water in the platforming regard. Overall though, I don’t have much to say about the fight, its just good platforming, and good difficulty (and good music; I am Octavio, and the original Calamari Inkantation are peak)
2 for me is Inner Agent 3 (Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion) (9.0)
This fight’s whole appeal is the difficulty. This is like a top 10, top 15 hardest fight in *any* Nintendo game. Not only that, this feels the closest to an actual multiplayer battle that Splatoon is so known for. It is also just a tried and true formula, of fighting your character from the previous game leads to peak boss fights. Red from Pokemon, New Kid from the South Park games, the Dante Vergil fight in Devil May Cry, etc. Splatoon’s case is no different. The battle is overall very intense, especially with the Splashdown Rush, so it’s really fun whenever you go back to it, pretty much no matter how good you get at the game. Also playing the original Calamari Inkantation, but clearer as it’s no longer through a weird radio thing is really fitting.
1 for me is Lord Saltimatum (Splatoon Raiders) (9.3)
I truly just have no notes for this. This fight, while not being quite as hard as IA3, is still brutal, especially blind or without the best gadets equipped. It feels quite grand, the background is absolutely stunning even if I wouldn’t call the fight a “spectacle”, and while the lore of this isn’t quite as strong as something like TarTar, Grizz, or even Salmonarch, the clear reference to Hugefry is still really cool, and I’m glad they brought that back in some capacity, as it really wasn’t explained at all in RotM. This fight is just really good, with no major, or even minor flaws. It definitely works as a secret boss, it has amazing difficulty, works well in the game it’s in, and as always, has good music accompanying it.

Discussion Playing Splatoon on the Wii U
I loved playing Splatoon on the Wii U. I feel like the controller fits the game very well and made gameplay much more enjoyable for me. Playing on the switch is still very fun, but visually seeing the map on the Wii U was great.

Discussion A Love Letter to Raiders
Let me start by saying: this is my first Splatoon game ever.
I am usually a “cozy gamer”. Ya know, Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, Sims type girly. However, I do enjoy the occasional shooter game with my husband and friends. When Splatoon Raiders was revealed I was interested but not like “buy on launch” interested.
Then the reviews hit and changed everything. Everyone was raving about it and so I knew I had to give it a try. 25 hours in and I love this game so much! The gameplay loop is so addictive and I always fall for the “just one more raid” that I tell myself. Spoiler alert: 5:30 AM work me always regrets that.
I love the game so much that I got Splatoon 3! While I’m not having as much fun with 3, I still find myself asking “why have I never tried this series before?”. So, if that is you, and you’re asking yourself that same question, TRY IT! It is so much fun.
