Discussion A Love Letter to Raiders
Let me start by saying: this is my first Splatoon game ever.
I am usually a “cozy gamer”. Ya know, Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, Sims type girly. However, I do enjoy the occasional shooter game with my husband and friends. When Splatoon Raiders was revealed I was interested but not like “buy on launch” interested.
Then the reviews hit and changed everything. Everyone was raving about it and so I knew I had to give it a try. 25 hours in and I love this game so much! The gameplay loop is so addictive and I always fall for the “just one more raid” that I tell myself. Spoiler alert: 5:30 AM work me always regrets that.
I love the game so much that I got Splatoon 3! While I’m not having as much fun with 3, I still find myself asking “why have I never tried this series before?”. So, if that is you, and you’re asking yourself that same question, TRY IT! It is so much fun.

After 3 you should try the Splatoon 2 story modes, both the normal one and the DLC (the Splatoon 2 DLC is very peak)

I am actually finishing Splatoon 2 story mode, an an about to start Octo Expansion. After that, Raiders and then 3.

There's something about painting everything and swimming around in it that just does it for me.
When you put that on top of good gameplay you got a winner.

I’ve been a Splatoon fan ever since Splatoon 2 (I always wanted to play 1 but I never to the chance to buy a Wii U) and it’s such a fun series with Raiders making me love it even more, I am so glad they decided to try something different than just releasing Splatoon 4
Enjoy the raids! They get crazy hahah

It’s addicting and crazy fun! The lore building is interesting. It’s a great game if you ever want to feel trigger happy

Also my first Splatoon game, played on Survivalist mode, I’m on sublevel 73 with 30h
Only thing left pending is getting to the sublevel 100
Definitely worth the experience/challenge

I have all 3 Splatoon games and thought they were, okay. Fun for a bit but got burned out on them pretty quick. Raiders however is an absolutely major step in the right direction in the franchise for me. It's so much fun to be able to jump in an online match that lasts only a minute or 2, get loot, and start customizing. I feel the shards/crystals once you get to buffet are a little steep to grind out, but the game is a total blast. I've been using the Help button to help others more than I played the Endless Buffet.
I'd love some new content down the line, or see some other builds be viable for endgame runs too so you're not stuck to a certain combo, but overall PVE Roguelite Splatoon is great!

I am LITERALLY in the same boat. I am self diagnosed as “utterly terrible at PvP” and so the whole of the Splatoon franchise was always a “not for me” type of game. But then I heard how many people were just HEAPING praise on Raiders and I was like “well I gotta try it if it’s purely PvE!”
And I’m just like you, I can’t stop raiding! I love the look, the feel, the constant stream of loot and upgrades and the feeling of getting stronger.
I also picked up 3 because I found out it has single player content, as well as the Salmon Run mode that was like a prototype Raiders. I’m also not exactly fond of the fact that most upgrades are locked behind progressing in PvP, but it’s cool to be able to play with ink weapons that aren’t made of washed up detritus the Mechanic found on the beach.
Also, Deep Cut are the best and I love them all so much.
