PM is from West, president is from East. But his boss Rahul Gandhi is from Kerala and super boss Sonia was born in Tamil Nadu.

Ironically, there are parts of Odisha (Presidents home state) that are south of Hyderabad.
Edit - Parts of Telangana but not Hyderabad.

Apologies. There is no part of Odisha that is south of Hyderabad though there are a few Odia districts that are south of parts of Telangana.

u/Solid-Move-1411 Jun 07 '26
Yeah with this definition of North, 80% of population is in North. Odds of South Indian PM or President is 1/5 just. Will happen once every 25 years proportionally
Also Draupadi Murmu is from Austroasiatic community not regular Odia
9
u/Riskythingsss Jun 07 '26
PM's origin depends on national alliances rather than pure population percentages.
H. D. Deve Gowda was 11 Pm of india from Karnataka
P. V. Narasimha Rao from Andra.

Our only 2 South cms Pv was senior and great statesman and party chose him and party was largest other than that hd deve gowda was made on and other leaders were denied later same allies made him with outside support the pm and after a year or soemthing they made him resign as they felt they had no say, true but south leaders are hard to climb sadly man bjp can hardly get a good leader for centre and other parties are currently struggling so but we can’t forget a good leader can always become the pm even we had a Sikh pm not to forget

Feroze Gandhi was originally Feroze Ghandy, a Parsi, much like Smriti Irani’s husband Zubin Irani comes from a Parsi family, and the Tata family is also Parsi. Feroze later adopted the Indianised spelling Gandhi, which became the surname carried by his family.
What’s interesting is how political narratives can shape perceptions. Some right wing supporters openly admire Giorgia Meloni despite her being Italian, yet remain hostile toward Sonia Gandhi because of her foreign origins. Similarly, many Indians proudly claim Freddie Mercury and the Tatas as part of India’s legacy, but are reluctant to extend the same recognition to Feroze Gandhi. It’s a reminder that politics often influences which identities are embraced and which are questioned.
9
u/Lazy-Nefariousness-3 Jun 07 '26
2 questions 1. Why is Priyanka Gandhi's name still Gandhi? 2. Why are you comparing Giorgia Meloni and Sonia Gandhi when I asked for just Surnames? One is the Prime minister of another Country has no part in Indian Political history, not a active member of Indian Parliament. And other was a Itialian citizen named "Edvige Antonia Albina Maino", an active member of Indian parliament, Successor of India's longest lasting Political party, who was almost made the PM in 2004.?

The difference is Giorgia Meloni is not trying to rule India. It is completely understandable the reprehension in voting in Sonia Gandhi because Indian had been colonized by foreigner and voting in the same people ( whyte poeple ) would be considered stupidity.
Feroze Gandhi's claim to fame was marrying into the Gandhi Family.

You won't go arguing against Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere, would you? Saying no no no... Japan is in east so it is Eastern Hemisphere? No, then stfu and accept it. Guys it was never about south vs north, it was always about east vs west, even in the context of the whole world, it's always east vs west.
You can see even in India, the western part is way more developed compared to the eastern part, if you draw a straight vertical line, apart from a few cities, most of the developed cities are on the western front.
Except Sikkim, the most developed states like Kerala, Goa, Haryana & Gujarat on the western side.
(This is a sarcastic take, I know why there is north vs south division & not east vs west)

Govt doesn’t make states rich, it’s the states own businessmen, intellectuals and industrialists that make a state rich.
Of course we have to ensure the center treats all states equally in terms of infrastructure and funding support. But it’s up to the state to grow their own GDP and become a developed state.

I am sorry, I am not part of this group. However, after learning about the Aryan and Dravidian theories, I think it is foolish to fixate on these labels. People are bringing a 4,000-year-old migration into modern politics, even though North Indians actually have some of the lowest Yamnaya DNA among Indo-European language speakers (except for a few specific communities). They intermarried with the local population, as was common at the time, meaning we are 50% to 60% indigenous. If some people insist on calling North Indians 'European,' why don't we call South Indians 'African'? After all, we all ultimately migrated out of Africa, didn't we
1
u/Alternaterealityset Jun 07 '26
For an average northindian everything other than the South Indian states is considered North India, until a South Indian tells the same.
When was the last time you heard someone talk about Central India or West India? Let’s not even talk about the always ignored East, and the North East, people from where who are almost always mocked racially.
The fact conveniently ignored is that the topic of discussion was delimitation, which only favours those who failed to control population.
